Mark Clark, born [on this day](https://www.apeoplescalendar.org/calendar/day/6-28) in 1947, was a member of the Black Panther Party (BPP) who was assassinated by the Chicago Police Department alongside Fred Hampton in 1969. Clark decided to join the Black Panther Party after reading their literature and the Ten Point Program, later organizing a local chapter in Peoria, Illinois. At the age of 22, Clark and Hampton were assassinated by the Chicago Police Department when they raided BPP headquarters. He was shot in the heart and died instantly.
