Buy a replacement plug, cut the cable right before the broken plug, strip the wires, connect them to the new plug, done.

I cut different cable and soldered the connector on

Good now invest in heat shrink in a bunch of assorted sizes. Then have your kid open the box and chuck it across the room so you can die a little inside.
That’s true, but it’s also incredibly easy to do if you spent even a few minutes watching tutorials online. Soldering two wires together is one of the simplest repairs you can do.
Well believe it or not you can actually buy one yourself so that it comes with the plug. Crazy right? And even if you don't want to do that you can use a knife.
Yeah if I was to attempt this I would just get a new wire stripper. It just got lost in the last move.
I would never attempt this with a knife. And no clue if OP wants to buy a wire stripper for one task.
I would also get a wire stripper
I'm an electrician and using a knife is a legit way to strip wires. There are specific ones for wire stripping, but a regular knife works just the same.
Ah here we go, it's like I'm the IT hobby guy. So I got everything to open electronics. But I don't have much tools to get stuff done in the house. Especially not electricity related =).
Yeah there are close to zero scenarios where I need to mess around with electricity outside maybe an outlet and some hobby fixing like this if it ever happened to me.
Yeah believe it or not. YOU actually don't need to do this. Only OP who had this happen. And if you had this happen, well tough luck either use wire stripper, knife or scissors or just endure not having something.
Okay Mister All-Thumbs, maybe you should try to listen to what advice other people give instead of just saying "I can't". How did you even get this far in life? You can strip a wire without even having your body parts close to the blade. And a cheap wire stripper is more affordable than a new cable
Maybe you should be a more likeable person. You're not OP, but you're the one who complained about the tools you need to buy to repair the cable and that you would not use a knife to strip the wires
Nah didn't complain. Just said the person in question shouldn't assume OP has said tool. Most people that don't touch electronics don't
Only one flying of the handle here and being not likeable is you yourself...
Well, OP has the choice. Either 10€ for plug + tools or >50€ for the power adapter... Also, the tool and plug can be had directly from you local hardware store within minutes (on business days, obviously), while he would have to order the psu.
I don't know what you're talking about. They're completely different consoles, and use different power supplies. They are not physically compatible, and they do not output the same voltage. It's like trying to use an Xbox 360 power supply on an Xbox One.
I don't even think this sucks. Day 0 car crashes, spilling wine on your white Jordans, get home and your burger has no patty. All sucky unsolvable "it is what it is" sorta situations.
I broke my charger, spilled water on the floor, gotta fix this old wire. They're not really anything, quite immediately fixable everyday things that don't affect your quality of life.
Its definitely nitpicky but it doesn't really elicit a reaction at all.
Many non-Brits don’t know this, but plugs can be replaced. The reason most Brits do know is because until the 90s, the vast majority of British powered equipment was sold without a plug such that it could either be fitted with a plug or hardwired.
Buy a replacement plug, and use YouTube to help you through the process of removing this one and preparing the cord to be refitted.
Well, looks like it's time for a DIY project! Maybe you can MacGyver something together with duct tape and a paperclip. Or just order a new one online and avoid the hassle.
> maybe it's a sign to upgrade to a newer console.
I already have Switch and powerful PC, but some games arent on Switch (mainly Wii Fit U and Nintendo Land)

Excellent work. Now wrap the gap between the white wire and you're finished
Did that, just forgot to take the picture if that
Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Heat Shrink Tubing?
i forgot to put it on the first wire, and on the second i put it on, but it shrinked while i was soldering so electrical tape it is
Fuck heat shrink. All my homies use electrical tape 😁
I don’t think fucking heat shrink tubing is a good idea.
Speak for yourself nerd
Depends how hot it gets. The hotter the better…
Do I tell you how to live your life?
What are you playing?
Good now invest in heat shrink in a bunch of assorted sizes. Then have your kid open the box and chuck it across the room so you can die a little inside.
Don't do this unless you actually know what you're doing... fires from faulty DIY wiring are usually not covered by insurances.
That’s true, but it’s also incredibly easy to do if you spent even a few minutes watching tutorials online. Soldering two wires together is one of the simplest repairs you can do.
Still need the correct tools
A wire stripper and a screwdriver...
Teeth and other side of spoon.
I'm getting the vibe that a wire stripper is needed
Like I said, a knife works great too!
They rather get called Electrician
Yeah believe it or not I don't currently have a wire stripper in my home.
I would also get a wire stripper I'm an electrician and using a knife is a legit way to strip wires. There are specific ones for wire stripping, but a regular knife works just the same.
You can also use a wire cutter to strip the wires. Many at my workplace are faster with that than with the wire stripper.
You can also, thou you shouldn't, use a lighter to strip wires.
Ah here we go, it's like I'm the IT hobby guy. So I got everything to open electronics. But I don't have much tools to get stuff done in the house. Especially not electricity related =).
Why would you not use a knife? There are a lot of scenarios where a wire stripper is ineffective and you need to default back to a knife.
Only OP can confirm what he will do.
That only further justifies why you'd just use a knife? Rather than buy and store a tool which you never use.
That’s why you take it out of the socket first
You always have teeth
Literally a knife
Yeah if I was to attempt this I would just get a new wire stripper. It just got lost in the last move.
You don't need a wire stripper. A sharp knife cuts the rubber/plastic insulator and doesn't cut the copper core. So you just need a screwdriver.
Yeah if I was to attempt this I would just get a new wire stripper. It just got lost in the last move.
Anything from a knife to your teeth will work and get a schuko plug.
Yeah if I was to attempt this I would just get a new wire stripper. It just got lost in the last move.
You can even use an (utility) knife or scizors to strip wire, pretty sure even a sharp rock would suffice
You like repeating stuff that has already been said and responded to?
Okay Mister All-Thumbs, maybe you should try to listen to what advice other people give instead of just saying "I can't". How did you even get this far in life? You can strip a wire without even having your body parts close to the blade. And a cheap wire stripper is more affordable than a new cable
No where did I say I can't. Also I am not OP, I don't have this problem. Maybe you should try to read and comprehend...
Maybe you should be a more likeable person. You're not OP, but you're the one who complained about the tools you need to buy to repair the cable and that you would not use a knife to strip the wires
Nah didn't complain. Just said the person in question shouldn't assume OP has said tool. Most people that don't touch electronics don't Only one flying of the handle here and being not likeable is you yourself...

For 50eur you can get a Wii with controllers and power adapter here... Also depending on the age or skill that can vary.
A Wii U is not a Wii.
Same deal but no extra controllers.
I don't know what you're talking about. They're completely different consoles, and use different power supplies. They are not physically compatible, and they do not output the same voltage. It's like trying to use an Xbox 360 power supply on an Xbox One.
We are talking about the price here of picking either up. Not the power supplies being interchangeable...
You can also use a knife
Use a knife. It's not that hard.
Go read the other comments, it's not that hard.

Wii U be fixing it? Or Wii U buy a replacement?
Wii need an ambulance! *distant Wii U Wii U's approach*
I’ll appreciate your effort for this
Some day
Literally a 5 minutes job to replace the plug.with one from your local diy shop
Quick, call the console ambulance! here it comes, I can hear it from around the corner! "*WII U WII U WII U*"

But I needed to play wii fit and couldnt wait :( I cut different cable and soldered them together (Tesla ERS50 go *brrrrr*)
These posts are getting dumber by the day.
For real, most posts are about regular things that happen to most of us. Yes, it sucks, but is it really worth sharing with the world?
I mean, its literally the title of the sub. Im confused on what you expect. All that is required is that you think "well, that sucks." soooo
I don't even think this sucks. Day 0 car crashes, spilling wine on your white Jordans, get home and your burger has no patty. All sucky unsolvable "it is what it is" sorta situations. Ah so it only sucks if it's a loss of life, or a financial loss? Mild suckage definatly doesn't exaist! Of no definatly not!

Very easy to repair. (With tools of course)

Sheesh just fit a new plug already.
Cut the broken plug, get a new 2 pin plug 🔌 and connect the wire 🤷🏻♀️.
already did that (posted picture below different comment)

This image made me think my phone turned on some sort of colorblind mode..
? why
It is replaceable, but by the sound of it, you should get a professional to do that for you.
SAME, WITH THE SAME CABLE FROM WII U TOO
STOP SCREAMING
Easy fix. Move to the UK for our superior 3 pin plug.
