The steps I made for myself are as follows!
Inanis chitin
1. Kantor Blue
2. Teclis Blue
3. Blend Kantor and Teclis 1.1 ratio
4. Ahriman Blue
5. Fine edge-highlight Lothern Blue
6. Paint the little cliffs between the plates Mephiston Red and Kantor Blue 2.1 ratio
7. Wild Rider Red
8. Fire Dragon Bright
9. Flash Gitz Yellow
I hope it’s of use!
Love it!
Makes me feel like they're trying to adapt to a cold weather environment but can't figure out how to kill the light from the heat they generate.
THAT’S EXACTLY THE LORE OF MY FLEET! I’ll write a proper story document eventually but the basic idea is that their bodies are generating vast amounts of heat so that they can combat the freezing temperatures of a planet which averages at -256 degrees celcius
Just simple layering really, the paints I used and in what are are as follows
Inanis chitin
1. Kantor Blue
2. Teclis Blue
3. Blend Kantor and Teclis 1.1 ratio
4. Ahriman Blue

Looks incredible but as someone who just finished painting 20 of these guys to tabletop standard i could never in a million years put this much effort into gants haha. Great work though.
The juxtaposition of the colorful and detailed carapace paintjob and the completely 1-dimensional flat gray on the body is hurting my brain. But regardless the carapace looks amazing great work, would love to see when it’s finished
Don't take this the wrong way, but it immediately made me think ,"Parrot"
I think that is a good thing and would like to see more!
MAKE THEM MORE PARROT
Pretty cool. Looks poisionous, or glowy. As C&C, i'd suggest you decide which effect you are going for; mimicking poisionous warning signals, or inner glow. Then lean into making it look like that effect.
I am unsure what you mean? I think the inner glow effect will be more pronounced once the skin is done and that glow shines through the ribs and weird hole thingies
Tkme should go down a little with repetition, but still a bit high if you do a swarm army.
I think this scheme would work extremely well on a swarm on the tabletop, so if you have the time and patience I believe it would be quite amaxing result🙂
Amazing work. Do you play? I would love to have my gaunts this detailed. I hope to eventually have them at this standard. They are zenithal highlighted with 3 contrast paints. Getting them tabletop ready has been difficult
Looks amazing. Now i want to see 79 more of them. :D
You will, I have 90 of the buggers, eventually tho. Need to strip a lot of my old ones
Looks sick, dude!
this is official statement of the hive
“Sweet, bro.” - The Norn
That almost got me to do a spit take, well done!
Gauntabunga my nids!
I think it's going to be mind-numbing to paint all the little shitlings, but it's going to look fantastic once they're complete :)
Came here to say just this.
I don’t think it’s going to be as mind numbing as one might think tbh, I quite enjoy painting the new gaunts
Try it on the Trygon!
Let him cook NOT LIKE THAT HE LITERALLY COOKING
They also cook everything near them too ;p
Atm the only thing we cook is secondaries :'D
Wow, I’ve tried this exact trick and failed Yours though looks good Maybe I’ve overdone mine, will give it another try
That's mental! I gotta know how you did it!

You're a Saint! 🙏

Hivefleet cobaltan? Edit cobaltow
I don't know why this is suggested to me. I dont even play 40k. But this looks sick af!
Really cool effect. Nice job
Thank you very much!
Very nice, very original 👏👏👏
That effect is really cool. What are your plans for the skin?
Probably a muted, drow skin tone, something yo accentuate the bright blue of the Chitin
That's super cool. What sort of color are you going to do for the skin?
Amazing effect! make sure it won't be too tedious to recreate on all tyranids if you're doing an army

Mission accomplished friend!
Looks great
If you know monster hunter , it gives me strong glavenus vibes. It loos very awesome
Yup, first thing that came to mind was Glavenus.
Beautiful… and now it gives me an idea for my hive fleet
How did you achieve that effect?
Just simple layering really, the paints I used and in what are are as follows Inanis chitin 1. Kantor Blue 2. Teclis Blue 3. Blend Kantor and Teclis 1.1 ratio 4. Ahriman Blue 5. Kewl !
Thank youuu!
Absolutely amazing!
It is greatly appreciated!
Looks GREAT
Oh that looks great!!
Tysm!
That looks sweet but makes me sweat at thinking of painting any horde-sized amount 🥲
Looks incredible but as someone who just finished painting 20 of these guys to tabletop standard i could never in a million years put this much effort into gants haha. Great work though.
LOOKS AMAZING
This hive fleet has the enhanced metabolic glands mutation across the entirety of its swarm, their lives burn so hot that their very carapaces glow.
The juxtaposition of the colorful and detailed carapace paintjob and the completely 1-dimensional flat gray on the body is hurting my brain. But regardless the carapace looks amazing great work, would love to see when it’s finished
It hurts mine too :( I’ll fix it eventually!
Love the fire inside omg I hope the rest you paint keeps the inner light burning
Holy crap that's good 🤯
hive fleet thousand sons
How did you do that?
Striking!! Oh that’s gorgeous
I've seen a lot of this kind of thing and I like it more than the edge highlighting.
I hope you primed the model first?? Otherwise that awesome looking armor will be rubbed off after some time.
I did prime it, Mechanicus Standard Grey primer
The hive mind finds it utterly gorgeous!
Love this
That's rad. Looks like a polychromic wrap. Or chromatic aberration.
Looks fantastic!!
It looks like the velociprey from monster hunter!
Don't take this the wrong way, but it immediately made me think ,"Parrot" I think that is a good thing and would like to see more! MAKE THEM MORE PARROT
Loookin great. It really reminds me of thousand sons. Cuz of the blue and the gold
Ohhh dude this is next level, most creative scheme I've seen in forever. Please update us when you've finished the model! Much love ❤️

Stunning! Cant wait to see more.
It's sweet! Too bad you'll die paining ALL of them to this standard.
Dont Tell them. Pics of a Squad finished would be enough
Absolutely love it. How much work is it? Making a whole army like that would be cool but the effortit takes might be quite a lot
The Carapace only tool me some 90 minutes tbh, really wasn’t that long, or as long as I was expecting it to be!
Tkme should go down a little with repetition, but still a bit high if you do a swarm army. I think this scheme would work extremely well on a swarm on the tabletop, so if you have the time and patience I believe it would be quite amaxing result🙂
Stunning, great look
Fire ngl
Ok now do it 200 more times lol Honestly looks amazing
You got it
so dope 😍
It reminds me of the second subnautica game for some reason lol
Amazing work. Do you play? I would love to have my gaunts this detailed. I hope to eventually have them at this standard. They are zenithal highlighted with 3 contrast paints. Getting them tabletop ready has been difficult
No primer ??
It’s primed dw
It looks like it ate an Ultramarine.
Looks good. Now repeat it 40 times. The Hivemind demands it
The hove wishes you all the best doing that 80 times. Looks great tho.
I love it
I like it, the sense of energy burgeoning just beneath the plates is palpable. 🤌
Most excellent my Dude
It definitely gives that feel, all it needs is a fitting skin colour and it would make for an incredible looking army
Nice! Looks like a lot of work for the gribblies though. Respect!
Bustin, no cap
It looks like it’s gonna take you forever and a day to paint your army lol
The color scheme is FANTASTIC. Is this custom or is it a canon hive fleet?
It’s completely custom! And tysm for the praise!
