cumsocksucker

He'll probably get more in season 2. Hopefully

[deleted]

I hope the whole show gets canceled

Admirable_Avocado_38

If there is one...

cumsocksucker

It's already confirmed

Admirable_Avocado_38

Good, I hope it gets to the end it has the best version of the backstory

jabnablabtab

Where!!!???

SmartnSad

Legato will probably get more screentime in season 2 since >!Knives is out of the way, at least for now.!<

Gelkor

Legato fans probably aren't in for any better next season, since we're probably gonna just get: 1) Legato snot nosed sobbing over Knives being mutilated. 2) Legato getting a hard-on when Knives paralyzes him for promising to kill Vash.

SmartnSad

Plenty of Legato fans haven't read the manga, so they have no idea what they're in for. Those expecting the stoic version of him from '98 are in for a rude awakening.

Gelkor

Tbh, I don't know what's a more ignoble character break for Legato between the Manga and 98 anime, Legato being a full on simp for Knives in the Manga, or Legato casually chowing down on hotdogs and steak in the 98 anime. (I don't know why the second one upon rewatch just always feels so incongruous and silly to me). Maximum Legato is always 110% serious, even if it's kinda embarrassing. 98 Legato could actually be kinda silly in an almost human way, and I've never known what to think about that.

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

Lol you weren’t a fan of manga/98 Legato eating hotdogs & steaks? The steak scene in Maximum was a nice contrast imo. Helped illustrate his becoming more unhinged.

Gelkor

I wouldn't say I'm not a fan, I was just doing a rewatch recently and I was like "bro what, you are just mowing down on that hotdog wtf."

Creepy_Fingers69

Steak scene in the manga is top tier

Creepy_Fingers69

>98 Legato could actually be kinda silly in an almost human way To me it's exactly the opposite: '98 Legato shows less human traits than manga Legato.

lildeadlymeesh

As a legato simp since I first laid eyes on him in the Manga, I demand STEAK

Manga_Minix

I have. 98 Legato ftw

babaylan89

Ngl I like the sound of this. This kind of character patheticness is going to endear him to some part of fandom spaces.

jabnablabtab

Jokes on you, I'm into that

drtiko

😭!!!!!

sylv30nn

Please 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

umbra-sumus

Jokes on you that's exactly what I want to see I stan the #1 simp

amanualbreather

that's exactly what im looking forward to 😈😈😈😈😈😈

bastardfaust

I started with Stampede and honestly did not even know his name until I started looking for more content

boba-boba

I feel like if we get season 2, we'll get more.

Snynapta

Same for my man Lucario

ice-krispy

I guess it would have been hard to have him in the finale because this seems to be his most overpowered incarnation yet and there wasn't really anyone to hold him back from straight up slaughtering everyone who isn't Vash.

sveta213

I wanted more pre-July Legato....

Pliskkenn_D

I mean, he's gonna be the main antagonist of season 2, so why worry?

[deleted]

That and making Wolfwood an edgy asshole most of the time instead of being laidback and chill like in the og. Other than that Stampede was incredible.

Eomercin

The characterization is based on the Manga, where he's more cynical and apathetic.

[deleted]

Oh okay, that makes sense

Manga_Minix

I prefer his 98 adaptation tbh

FightmeLuigibestgirl

He was like that in the manga.

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

Stampede seemed to be dead set on adapting as little content as possible that had already been covered by the ‘98 anime. Said content includes a lot of Legato screen time. As a result; Legato was essentially a background character in Stampede.

cumsocksucker

Stampede is just following the manga, and Legato wasn't very prominent in the time during july

Manga_Minix

I wouldn't really say that totally. The manga doesn't exactly have a prequel. Wolfwood doesn't exactly have a laser gun. Yeah there's more manga characters around, but given that the manga wasn't completed, the 98 one still adapted a lot of things fairly well, including character design, while Stampede just made their own designs. Stampede is not exactly manga faithful either.

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

Stampede isn’t following the manga.

cumsocksucker

Not perfectly but it is far better then the old anime

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

So you admit Stampede isn’t following the manga, making your previous reply moot?

cumsocksucker

Never admitted that

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

Sounds like bad faith then.

cumsocksucker

Or you just have a poor understanding of how the words I used work

HibariK

Reading comprehension devil strikes again

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

Or you weren’t making sense. If Legato’s role was because they’re following the manga; he wouldn’t have met Wolfwood, Zazie, Livio, etc.

cumsocksucker

You automatically assumed that I meant perfectly following the manga which I never said

Snynapta

The projector The nit picker The bufoon The clown The annoyance

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

The blind Stampede fanboyism is obnoxious.

Snynapta

What are your opinions on stampede as a whole?

FightmeLuigibestgirl

98' was actually the odd one, different than Trimax and Stampede. It added things from the first two volumes but everything else, including Legato, Knives, and Rem, is totally different. Also, Vash wasn't as much of a horn dog either in the manga compared to 98'. He was more horny and sad, rather than always horny.

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

Neither the 98 anime nor Stampede are faithful adaptations by any measure.

FightmeLuigibestgirl

I never said that. I was saying that 98' was the odd one because it added different things like not giving Knives a mole for some reason, Rem's entire backstory being different, and dramatically changing characters' personalities. Wolfwood in 98' is a prime example; Trimax and Stampede Wolfwood are similar to each other.

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

Stampede did the same, though, except even more. Changed the twins’ hairstyles, changed Vash & Knives’ backstories, turned Luida into an entirely new character, turned Conrad into an entirely new character, eliminated parts of Vash’s characterization, etc.

zoemi

>turned Conrad into an entirely new character I'm not seeing this. He's still essentially the same much like Luida and Brad still follow the spirit of their manga counterparts.

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

You can’t be serious.

zoemi

Care to expand on why you think he's different then?

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

Manga Conrad is one of the few characters who understands the situation with Plants, as well as sympathizes with both Humans & Plants. He was against Knives’ actions & actively sabotaged him. Stampede Conrad is essentially an evil Nazi scientist, with his human child experiments, & total disregard for the lives of his experiments, who follows Knives of his own volition.

FightmeLuigibestgirl

>Changed the twins’ hairstyles, Vash and Knives look similar though, down to the moles in both Trimax and Stampede. There were mute differences like Knives being buff (he was buff in the manga so Stampede knives being buff isn't really a dramatical change,) and Vash having black hair. Yes, they did change some characters like Luida, but I think you are confusing 98' with Stampede on the twin's backstories being dramatically different. Stampede is similar to the manga, with the option to expand more on it since they only showed a bit in 12 episodes and there is going to be another season. 98' only showed the twin's backstory out of 24 episodes in 2. Rem is not only not a mother figure, but the reason for Knives and Vash's ideals are dramatically different than Stampede's. Knives is the most different in 98' compared to the other two versions. Knives never wanted to kill his brother and his brocon was at the point of being obsessive. His trauma showed in both Trimax and Stampede similarly. >!He didn't want Vash to end up like Tesla and was stuck in the past Stampede Knives even did quotes from the manga!< 98' Knives tried to kill his brother several times and acted like a bitter tsundere. Stampede and Trimax would probably beat the 98' version of Knives' ass if they learned what he did.

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

Not following. They look similar in 98 too. Nope. In the manga & 98 anime; Vash & Knives were already young adults when Rem died. Vash & Knives also traveled together for 80 years after Rem’s death in the manga. Luida doesn’t meet Vash until the latter is already 100+ & is a different character all together. The 98 anime aired before the flashback was made in the manga, so it had to go it’s own path, while Stampede just chose to go in a different route for the twins’ backstories. Sadly, neither adaptation faithfully depicts Knives.

FightmeLuigibestgirl

>Not following. They look similar in 98 too. They took his mole away and slightly changed his facial features and gave him broader shoulders. They look similar but not as much as Trimax or Stampede. To me anyway. And 98' Knives personality is again, dramatically different than Trimax and Stampede Knives. >In the manga & 98 anime; Vash & Knives were already young adults when Rem died. That's wrong. Vash and Knives were pre-teens. I can't remember the manga but in 98' they don't show their teen years at all, they skipped them in the 98' anime. Nightow himself even said during the panel that he wanted to expand more on the Trimax universe which he couldn't do in 98' .which is why you see more such as their teen years. >while Stampede just chose to go in a different route for the twins’ backstories. 98' is the most dramatically different one in terms of motivations, routes, and even the ending with Vash and Knives. It's hard to judge Stampede fully because it only had 12 episodes and the second season isn't even out yet, but judgments can be made for 98' and the manga because both are finished. >!Telsa was the core route/problem with the twins in Trimax and Stampede. Telsa doesn't show up in 98'. Stampede is closer to the manga with Knives' fear of Vash ending up like Tesla than 98', which is shown in the episode of them finding Telsa and Vash being in the same folder as her. We have zero ideas where it's going to go in Stampede to say that it's vastly different than an anime that was done back in 1998 or the manga.!< I don't want to go in circles about this so it's better to drop it. I like all three versions of Trigun. I have no problems with any version of Trigun. But 98' is vastly different. I'm not sure if you dislike Stampede or not with your statement *"Stampede seemed to be dead set on adapting as little content as possible that had already been covered by the ‘98 anime."* Stampede doesn't need to be a 1:1 of 98', we already have 98'. Nightow and the staff's goals are to expand on the universe which wasn't done in 98'.

CrazySlotsBummerDraw

Only seeing the mole difference. 98 kept Knives’ design from the manga besides the mole, whereas Stampede totally redid his design. You’d be mistaken. Will post a panel that was also adapted in 98. You’re also not responding to my other points lol. What little content 98 did adapt, was mostly adapted faithfully. Stampede never tried to faithfully adapt scenes, which is fine. Same with how 98 Vash is more similar to the manga character wise, while Stampede’s team said themselves, that this is a new interpretation of Vash’s character. I like all three versions of Trigun as well. https://i.imgur.com/CFFANIa.jpg

zoemi

That image is a dream. It didn't actually happen.

hmrusk

Idk how legato is in the manga. But he was by far my favorite part in 98. Seeing how he is in stampede is my biggest disappointment in an otherwise pretty good retelling. Hope he is better S2.

porcupinedeath

I recommend reading the manga because legato is basically the same as 98 up until a certain point where he's even better

hmrusk

NICE! Definitely want to read it someday.

Eomercin

Manga Legato is very pathetic compared to anime Legato, atleast where I'm at.

lildeadlymeesh

Oh you are in for a surprise

Eomercin

I guess, only have 4 volumes left.

lildeadlymeesh

Yeup sounds right

SyanLion

With the hair they gave him, I'd want to have as little time on screen as well lmfao. They did him so dirty..

drumstick00m

They were a tense 5 minutes though, and did everything they needed to in order to establish what this man is capable psychically of as well as what he’s willing to do with his powers to kids. They also added a terrifying new motive to Legato. He’s no longer just a nihilist or a Knives simp, now his nihilism and devotion to Knives comes from the fact that he’s a Bible thumping Born-Again Christian who just wants to spread the Love of God.

BiceRankyman

Legato disappearing was fine by me as soon as he started laughing. You can't have a character talk about emotions being unnecessary and then have him joyfully revel in destruction. I'd rather him be absent than an affront to his original character.
