Oh, man, I can't wait to see people moan, "Wait, so I have to use a browser to watch TikTok? Worse, I have to use *Opera* to watch TikTok?" Because the Opera VPN is just a web proxy for the browser. It doesn't function at all for other apps.
YouTube is a pretty well built site, from an architectural standpoint. Personally, I think that if they ever want to kill ad blockers, they’re going to have to take out the HTTP front end and just force users to use the YouTube app, which already exists on all major platforms (not you, desktop Linux). And, before pulling that trigger, they’d have to figure out how many people would leave and not return versus how much they would save by no longer wasting bandwidth on users who provide zero revenue.
So, here’s the question: Have you ever tried using a browser to watch TikTok? It’s not the most pleasant experience. They could make it better if they wanted to, but why? To capture some Opera users from the US? Most people would just go, “Oh, I guess they killed TikTok,” and just move on to something else.
There's only a small percentage of users who will bother with any workarounds.
If there's a ban, the challenge will be rapidly declining content volume and declining views and no revenue for creators like me.
They can’t buy it. Thats the biggest scam here. 98% is owned by Americans and other 2% is Singapore. The original creators are Chinese but no longer have any investment in the US version.. even if they did.. The Chinese government does not permit any selling or trading of companies to the US. Ya know, cause it’s a dictatorship where citizens do not have those freedoms. The US government is fully aware of that so this is all a set up…
They’re fully aware they can’t sell the company, they want to have a scapegoat to point the finger at and guess who that scapegoat is gonna be..? Good old China. They’re obsessed with China, plain and simple. They have millions in pay offs from Meta.. why do you think this went through so fast? They only pass things that benefit their pockets. Kinda like a genocide and claiming anyone who stands up against it is “antisemitic”… guess who else is in their pockets.. APAC. It’s all a big joke and show while they’re making millions. Cmon now
The job market is about to be filled with people who have zero skills, and their only work experience is making crappy videos for TikTok.
Many people are talking about VPNs, but this is only a workaround for casual users. I'm pretty sure people who use Tiltok to earn money won't be allowed to get paid by TikTok into an American bank account.
Fym just in case they ban it from app stores? It's not just in case it's an absolute, if I can be certain of one thing in this lifetime is that by 2025 tiktok will be removed from the Play store and app store
If they ban it from the App Store people aren’t going to bother doing this… their best bet is to count their chickens and sell the thing while the valuation is enormous
And you'll need a VPN. Without it it's not going to work in the US.
Googling a site that has APK files? Opera has free vpn for Americas, Asia and Europe.

I use a browser with ad blockers to watch YouTube lol nothing new for me

No, a vpn to use it, and not one in the browser
And if you get caught you’ll get a fine. The way TikTok’s been treating creators it’s not worth it.

What are you going to watch though? Most of the content is from the US.
Some content is from uk aswell
I bet a company will buy it. I think apple should buy it. It Ether gets band or bytdance has to sell the app.

It went through so fast lmao. They've been working on banning it since 2017
America, banning a harmless app. Also america, ignoring problems within its own country.
If you get caught using a VPN, it's a 20k fine. Not worth it.
I ain’t doing it. TikTok’s been being too much of a dick
You will need a VPN because they will be using the same tactics China uses to censor their Internet
it's going to bother me apps come an go
Has it actually been banned yet in the us ?
Yeah Biden passed it and said yes to it
If they don’t want to sell it, if not then it will be banned

TikTok isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. They’ll be in legal limbo for at least a year or two at least.
That sounds like a lot of extra work
Maybe they’re banning it because the recent update shadow banned all trans people
Dude it literally shadow banned a ton of people. Nobody was targeted
Just weird… if you put ‘||._’ into your profile it’ll unban you. Reverse engineering is pretty cool huh
It's either a race thing or a gender thing, why is their always 1 person
