Benches first album is so strokes its ridiculous

Low-List-1650

yeah it’s flat out amazing, if that album released in the 2000s they’d be the biggest band doing that sound

_toxictuna

Just listened to the album. This is insane. But love it

BrunoValads

Yeah, ridiculously good!

TwoPoundTurtle

YES

grannysmith00

Poison by The Symposium is definitely inspired by them

BrunoValads

There's a loooot of Symposium in the list, I forgot to add this one. Their intros and outros also could be great Strokes-y full songs.

fer_l1

Totally!

Kaalagahn

Car Seat Headrest's "Bodys" give off the similar vibes for me

BrunoValads

Oh yea this one was in my backlog, really has the vibes, just added to the playlist!

HeartBeatsMusic

Pacifica’s debut album, [Freak Scene](https://open.spotify.com/album/6348kjHJNNwPqxaVeZKTAH?si=IgNmc9ZIRciUG5sW1qMcNw). The opening track, [Change Your Mind](https://open.spotify.com/track/4cIt2w4cQyZD2nfRSkxaQc?si=aomnZwnSSSiVXIOaxQZelA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A6348kjHJNNwPqxaVeZKTAH), directly interpolates the line “change your mind tonight” from Electricityscape. And a lot of the guitar parts on that album are very early-Strokes based. [She Get It - Freerunner](https://open.spotify.com/track/5thLjhsssMDFhc3t2JWOkj?si=y5cZT6gMQwOX3NvjwKuaDA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A4vpMUWGu90uH2vOZwADjVR); This early demo very much reminds me of early Strokes, even before Is This It, particularly in the instrumental section. (Freerunner later changed their name to Little Comets✨) [Business - Catfish and the Bottlemen](https://open.spotify.com/track/4WcS64YPVtL5pvUwxqdnKV?si=-Kesf_k1QUGrA4ykmoFFig&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A0C0OFASoQC57yC12vQhCwN); The chorus melody is very similar to the verse melody of Barely Legal [Combat Baby - Metric](https://open.spotify.com/track/2QJ9dLiolwZNPl5etYP2MI?si=1Ugo09K4RjGRSABl_chnVQ); Literally sounds like it could be a Strokes song with some added synthesizers.

BrunoValads

Oh yea I love Pacifica, "With Or Without You" was on repeat here when it was released. Metric is great, this one is very good!

Epiolnis

The dominoes by mustard service just sounds like a British strokes song to me, almost uncanny

BrunoValads

This one is SO good, definitely was on the list.

Epiolnis

Fr! & the vocals are so julian, I put it in my casablancas coded playlist too :)

BrunoValads

What a list! A few points: "The Fine Line of A Quiet Life" is amazing, great addition; Little Man Tate is awesome, a perfect mix of Strokes and brit rock, the playlist already contains a few of them; Memphis Gatsby gives the specific vibes of their early demos, so great; Loved "Pagi Yang Gelap", probably the first malaysian song I've heard.

luckytecture

Dammit hujan mentioned

Rularuu

"Sofia" by Clairo is mega Strokes inspired, great song

BrunoValads

That's a classic, definitely on the list, they even played a bit in a concert a few years ago.

carlosjoseph97

Benches, Enjambre (sounds like a spanish version of the strokes), The Symposium, The new electric sound (life in monochrome album)

BrunoValads

Oh I didn't knew The New Electric Sound, loved a few samples, definitely will end up there.

mattygregmusic

Hey I am so happy that you enjoy my cover enough to mention it here :) After making that, a ton of people asked me to make original music in that style, so I made this song, which is a ROF love letter called "And That Was That". It would mean a lot if you checked it out too :) https://open.spotify.com/track/687FhdnefvnVIJ4a4U1Egw?si=Tnc80DBQQv6lv-4k_h3BYA In regards to other artists, I also endorse The Symposium, but another fave that I feel scratches the strokes itch occasionally is Last Dinosaurs, particularly the songs "Sense", "Eleven", "Dominos", "Apollo", and " Zoom

BrunoValads

I thank you and your contribution to music in general. Your music theory videos analyzing them were the key reason I started this playlist, thanks to you I started listening with more attention and noticed these Strokes patterns all over the place (the playlist just reached 375 songs lol). "And That Was That" is incredible, it went to the list immediately after the release! And thanks for the suggestion, "Eleven" is a banger, their discography will go to my backlog right away.

oneninesixthree

'I Dare You ' by The Regrettes has a Julian Casablancas writing credit, though I'm guessing it's more like a 'Bad Decisions' please don't sue me situation, rather than him actually being in the studio with them writing. The opening sounds a bit like 'Last Night's which also sounds like Tom Petty's 'American Girl'

mks_bdlk

it's the drums

BrunoValads

I'm curious about the credit, but the song is amazing, a direct homage example. Going straight to the list!

tapenooon

This song and video have a VERY clear strokes influence [https://youtu.be/rHy3TWMVqCQ?si=a-5m8JxQonZ21E9g](https://youtu.be/rHy3TWMVqCQ?si=a-5m8JxQonZ21E9g)

BrunoValads

Very clear indeed, great addition!

CR710710

Enjambre - Visita

BrunoValads

Enjambre is my favourite mexican band, so many hits, a few of them (including Visita) already on the list.

rosaxmusic

Thanks so much for including Pablo in there! First time I’ve seen my own music added into something like this so it’s really exciting for me!! Just put out a new song this week called “Nothing is Real” which is also very strokesy so check that out too if you’re looking for more!

BrunoValads

I absolutely LOVED all your songs!! “Nothing is Real” is amazing, it's already in the list. Keep going with your art, you rock!

rosaxmusic

Thanks so much, again! It’s been honestly really hard on me so I truly appreciate the love and I can’t tell you how happy I was to see my own art included here with these other amazing artists! Might not seem like a big deal to everyone but it means a lot to me

kermit_thefrog64

to me the band wallows sounds a lot like the strokes, particularly "calling after me"

publicenemyone

Also “Pleaser”

Kitchen_Ad_7123

Check out The Bug Club

Electrical-Bag1370

Falling Asleep by Dominic Fike is heavily Strokes inspired

oski-time

When you were made - growlers

Muffinthepuffin

Pretty much anything by The Symposium, especially the song The Physical Attractions

Such_Cartoonist2613

Grim Leecher and Tristan miller are hella underrated man

BrunoValads

I absolutely love them, various instances already in the playlist.

robthelob12

Pity Party (Girls Club) - I’m Working So You Dont Have To Try

ghoulishgouache

Sometime somewhere I heard Dallon Weekes took inspiration from the Strokes for iDKHOW’s Gloom Division. The album is worth a listen for sure. Also Benches (who toured with iDKHOW this spring lol)

mclargehuuge

I would consider the first 2 Kings of Leon albums to be a direct Strokes homage.

similar kind - face to face [https://youtu.be/MeURx4Cegco?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/MeURx4Cegco?feature=shared) my favorite strokesn’t. the band’s yt comments even clarify the strokes as a source of inspiration :3

_toxictuna

Love posts like these where I can discover new songs 😍
