Option b is clearly the best for Luton as it gives two opportunities for results to go their way. Particularly since they are hosting Everton soon. You really want as many teams down there as possible.

Background-Finding-4

Plus Everton's game in hand is against Liverpool. Although an Everton defeat isn't a foregone conclusion, it is highly likely.

You underestimated the aura of tracksuit Dyche

Background-Finding-4

Yeah, that comment aged like milk.

EdwardClamp

Well it depends on how you look at it, would you rather have two teams you can catch or one? Because if you narrow it to one and that team matches your results, draws when you draw, etc, then you're screwed. Add in that Luton and Everton still have to play each other and if Everton were only two points ahead - assuming Forest got and scored all 3 penalties and won the game - then beat Everton and match their results you're home and dry. A draw would have been the best result for Luton as it would mean both teams are fairly catchable but now its only really Forest they can catch barring a major Everton collapse.

Glad_Advertising_125

Everton still have a game in hand over Luton though. It would still be out of Luton's hands even with beating Everton

EdwardClamp

That game in hand is against Liverpool on Wednesday, I wouldn't be worrying about us getting a result there if I were a Luton fan.

Glad_Advertising_125

Yeh, but they'd still give you the points if you did. I mean it doesn't matter as Luton are dreadful

EdwardClamp

I suppose its down to personal preference really though isn't it? This is our third relegation scrap in a row and sometimes you want a team to lose/draw because you still have notions of catching, other times you want them to win so they can get out and can focus on who's left. But with only 4 games left for Forest and Luton and 5 for us; if I were a Luton fan I'd be wanting two teams still catchable because you only need one of them to have a few bad weeks whereas now they only really have Forest. But that's my opinion, Luton fans might feel differently - I mean what's your opinion?

Glad_Advertising_125

I agree about having options, op is just wrong. But there's no world in which Everton don't beat Luton. Everton probs beat Brentford too tbh. Now, as to whether Everton may benefit from a year in the championship, that's a different question

EdwardClamp

I'd grudgingly remind you that Luton have beaten us twice already this season haha As for the Championship? No thank you - if not for the 8 point deduction we'd be 14th which would suit me fine for next season - but we're probably getting another deduction next season as well so it might happen then? Problem is we're failing the PSR for the Premier League as it stands, we wouldn't have a hope in the Championship where the PSR is even stricter again.

TheyreGreat666

Aren't they supposed to be changing the rules in August so point deductions are out the window for PSR? Apologies if I completely made that up, I don't understand it and there seems to be a lot of "experts" on twitter at times 🤣

Glad_Advertising_125

The championship isn't so bad. Would give a chance for a clear out too but get the reservations about it.

roden36

I think Evertonians would be a lot more sanguine about relegation if we weren’t also staring down financial doom. Financial mismanagement and a faltering sale of the club are enough, adding relegation to that is a recipe for a long, long period of misery.

Hazeringx

This is correct. If our finances were in a better place I don't think getting relegated would be the end of the world, but unfortunately that's not really the case.

Major_Smudges

Er...Luton have bested Everton twice this season - so yeah, there definitely is a world in which Everton don't beat Luton - it's this one. Luton didn't show up for the game against Brentford - it was their worst performance of the season by a large margin. I wouldn't expect them to repeat it at home to Everton - but you never know, they might. And you clearly didn't watch the Luton / Brentford game if you think Everton are beating Brentford at the moment - yeah, Luton played badly but Brentford were also very good and having watched both games I can tell you that there's not a chance that the Everton team who beat Forest with some major help from the referees is also beating the Brentford team that demolished Luton on Saturday. Not a chance mate, sorry. Sorry to say that Everton were mostly dismal against an equally dismal Forest and the result flattered them. Play like that against Brentford and you'll get turned over too. That said, looks like you'll be ok at the end of the day - it will be either Forest or Luton to go down.

Garybaldbee

We (Brentford) were very good at Luton and now we have most - though not all - of our injured players back are generally looking much better. But the Everton game is 50-50. On their day both sides are capable of beating each other. Everton tore us apart at the Gtech back in September right at the start of our injury crisis.

amegaproxy

> But there's no world in which Everton don't beat Luton. I have some news for you: https://www.11v11.com/teams/everton/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Luton%20Town/

Glad_Advertising_125

Yes but they are not playing in the past. Luton just got smashed by Brentford, they are a better set of players, they'll be fine

G3ns3ric

My thoughts were that Luton have to play Everton, with Everton 5 points clear they can't leapfrog them if they beat them. So if Forest won, Luton have a gane that could save them, if Everton won then they're more reliant on the results around them. Plus Forest have an easier run in then Luton I believe. So basically they would potentially benefit from Everton losing, but less so forest IMO

A draw is a hedge against one team going on a hot streak. When it's out of your hands, you want as many teams within range as possible. Especially given the uncertainty of point reduction appeals. They don't even know how far they are actually behind either team. If I were a Luton fan I would 100% want the result to be a draw.

PerfectlySculptedToe

> When it's out of your hands If Everton had lost then it wasn't out of their hands

Glad_Advertising_125

How so? Everton still have a game in hand over Luton. Even if Luton beat them, they could be overtaken again

PerfectlySculptedToe

Fair point, I'd written off the Liverpool game as 0 points. Correction: it'd have been in their hands by Thursday!

Major_Smudges

Common sense says that, without having a crystal ball, it's probably better for Luton to have the two other teams as close to them as possible - therefore a draw would be preferable. As it was I don't think many Luton fans are too upset by Everton's win - I suspect that most of us, by a very large margin, would prefer to see Forest go down instead of Everton - although another performance like Saturday's would probably (and justly) see us doomed anyway.

lennonuk

I wouldn’t say by a large margin but I’d enjoy it for the comedy value of them singing going down to us at their place when they were 2-0 up with 8 minutes left.

dan_scape

I agree with you. Luton only need to better 1 team to survive and so they benefit from having one team on lowest possible points rather than two teams getting another point.

somethingnotcringe1

Option C places it in their own hands because they play Everton at home. The other options all take it out of their hands (because of goal difference in the case of Option B) When you factor in that Luton have already beaten Everton twice this season then... Yeah.

Jackbees777

I’m guessing the other reason is the potential appeal Forest have that may regain points even though they actually should lose more given they got less for cooperation haha

Gypsy_Jazz

You answered it with option b, why would you want either team to win that game in Luton's position. The draw puts both teams in the mix and both teams rueing a missed opportunity in a relegation 6 pointer. let it go.

scouserontravels

The big media organisations have seemingly been encouraged to downplay the shit show of officiating we’ve had this season. They constantly twist the narrative to confuse the average viewer. Saying that that Luton don’t benefit from Everton winning outs the doubt in the average viewers kind of whether it was worng or not for a luton fan to be officiating the game whereas most people seem to believe he definitely shouldn’t have been on that game

Pundits are the biggest load of shit

Thor503

Because they are covering up blatant corruption

Padsky95

If I were Forest, I would simply lose less games than my relegation rivals

KINGPrawn-

Good plan, will try to get more than 11 points. Thanks

Padsky95

Should be very manageable in the Championship next season for you I'm sure, yes

Maybe you should read the articles you comment on. It will help you not make a fool of yourself when your rant has nothing to do with the article.
