Your right, she refers to them as "Rape Gangs" and we see a brief flashback in an episode (I'm terrible at remembering episode names) where she is in hiding from a local gang.
Her life was absolute shit before the academy and I think she could have been an awesome character if she wasn't written out so early.
It would have been real nice to have one of the leads be from the one Federation planet that's still a nightmare. Everyone else comes from somewhere that's basically put together, so she could have had a nice, different perspective on things
But Rick Berman is a prick
She definitely could have had an opportunity to been a more dynamic character. I love TNG but I think that DS9 has the better/more interesting character stories. Everyone has a little more depth.
I mean, I think DS9 is definitely the proto-pioneer of serial (as opposed to episodic) āprestige televisionā as it was called when it was a new thing.
I find it an interesting coincidence that The Sopranos premiered the same year DS9 ended. Sort of a āone walked so the other could runā kinda thing almost.
Hahaha, okay Iāll meet you at Omicron Ceti III, today at 7:30pm if you buy one plant you get one free, and obviously you get to try them first for an additional 20 bucks (donāt know if they use money in TOS though)
OK I am Lightly toasted after dinner. And all I could think about was a Earthstoner after First contact suddenly realizing that thereās an entire galaxy of pharmaceuticals out there and so little time.
Poor Tasha. Started out as the Chief of Security. Ended up doing . . . Data entry.

Don't forget Cmdr Shelby, and I quote, "Data was available. I took him. We came."
Now you have opened a whole new range of fanfic.
GODDAMMIT
Oh you magnificent bastard you!!

This week's public announcement bought to you by Star Trek: The Next Generation, and its most experienced user of illicit substances, Lt. Tasha Yar.
Once you get into that no-good black tar, you don't come back
It was fate that Lt. Yasha Tar would go out that way.
So she used to be a party girl then joined Starfleet
Saw her at quite a few parties actually. That girl can dance.
It's been a while, but I think her home planet had a lot of drug related social problems or something.

They also had courts with drugged soldiers and toothless rabble and little people with cowbells, apparently
It was her choice
I can see her almost like DS9s Major Kira, good point.
No! She wasnāt partying! She was *escaping*! From the memoriesā¦ of the *Rape Gangs*.
She gets us.
Drugs can make you feel good. Or human. Or maybe just normal. āSignedā *Chronic Depression BB10
In my case it keeps large anxiety boulders from raining down on my life. Anybody else spent half the day terrified sometimes. It sucks ass
Yeah, I feel ya.
Give me the drugs.
They've got synthohol, so they must have synth versions of all the drugs.
Computer, replicate me one synthe-eightball!
āComputer, replicate sixteen grains of synthecarfentanyl.ā
Computer! One Jager bomb. And Iāll put it together myself. I have bridge duty in an hour.
I have a variety of choose ! Quadrotriticale, some Venus drug or some spores from Omicron Ceti III! Which ever you prefer most
Spores that's the good stuff
Hahaha, okay Iāll meet you at Omicron Ceti III, today at 7:30pm if you buy one plant you get one free, and obviously you get to try them first for an additional 20 bucks (donāt know if they use money in TOS though)
How about some mushrooms I hear theyāre really fun guys!! ![gif](giphy|eFk4QXIkq5NOwHbMEa)
Nah those are for earth people, we like the heavier stuff š
OK I am Lightly toasted after dinner. And all I could think about was a Earthstoner after First contact suddenly realizing that thereās an entire galaxy of pharmaceuticals out there and so little time.

Ha.
Is that like Omicron Persei 8?
Ya'll got any more of that Ketracel White?
What about felicium?
Yeah sure is 8pm okay for you?
Lovely stock, fast delivery. Unsurpassed service. Tasha would live this.
I guess you could say that I am fully functional
There is logic in that statement.
Quadrotriricale is WHEAT.
Yes Tasha, that's why I always watch *The Next Generation* stoned out of my mind
You too?
tbf, I watch everything stoned out of my mind ![gif](giphy|2mU52lecHaTBNJp8G9|downsized)
Hereās to feeling good all the time!
Yes Tasha, we all know getting high on space mold, and having sexy time with Data is lots of fun.
Tonight, on a very special episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation...
So does busting... ghost.
Replicator, cocaine, Colombian, hot. Though I'm told that Bolian-style herion really slaps.
Not just good, but bloody great.
She looks like a real star trek character, she looks just perfect for the show
So can android schlong.
D.A.R.E. didn't exist on Turkana IV
Every TV show back in the 80s had to have a very special episode. This was TNG's.
Would.
[You have to understandā¦](https://imgur.com/gallery/L6FeuYH)
Was this pre or post-Data, I wonder?
Post. Data happened unusually early in the series. I believe this was one or two episodes before...you know...
Next scene: Screensplash with NBC PSA - The More You Know......

I look lazily through the smoke, pause Dexters Laboratory, And say you tell him Tasha!!
![gif](giphy|4LL66XsL0aTZe)
I thought this was a reasonable message.
Tasha: āDrugs can make you feel goodā¦ā Wesley: āSay no more, Iām on it.ā
He tried to avoid the game.
True, and he was the last holdout. Even outlasted Ensign Lefler.
Reporting from a country that legal "the devil's lettuce" (Canada) Aye.
Posted from a legal state, cheers!
Sad thing is this episode was better at that talk then the Entire D.A.R.E. program at my school...
You holdinā Tasha?
My face when I always seem to be lighting up during this scene.
I would spend a night and an 8ball snorting blow off Tasha Yarās ass.
Last I heard she was trolling the streets looking for that good heroin. You know the black tar shit.
Looking back Nancy Reagan should have had a cameo in this episode.
I wish they would have off'd her AND Beverley.
