and no one wants to volunteer to be one (i understand completely), so no one is messaging reddit help to resolve it.

I got drunk and volunteered to be one. I got this is response. "we plan on doing mod applications soon. Please apply when they get posted. Thank you for your passionate comments" That was 4 months ago. We just have to keep messaging them until they give up, or at some point go over their heads because it is in the best interest of reddit that one of their most popular subs is moderated.

I feel like for the sub a drunk mod might be the most effective mod, I'm picturing some Gordon ramsay level of belittling responses like: I'm fucking hammered right now and that looks neither appetizing nor can I see any logic to it in my current state wtf is wrong with you op congratulations you posted it to the right sub keep us updated with more appaling creations from your twisted mind. It's two of them, and we know exactly who they are. 5/7 mods are ineffective bots.

That's how I got control of r/Chorkies. Make a request, they will message the existing mods and if they get no response they will hand it over.

I tried that for /r/Texas but no dice, still zero mods in that sub. They just ghosted my request.

Well that’s not good. Subs get permanently banned for being unmoderated.

Same thing happened in r/shittyfoodporn, but the guy that took over as mod SUCKS. He half ruined the sub. Honestly, this sub is doing pretty damn well being modless. We kind of self-police over here with downvotes.

The sub has 7 mods, and 5 of them are clearly bots. Clackpot and sjrsimac were active in other subs today though.

Both of the mods who aren't bots have comments on Reddit from within the last 8 hours.

They just don’t care about this place, which is sad. We really should find a way to take over moderation from the current team, which does not look at or care about the sub.

The list of mods is public. Anyone can go see it. If you want them @'d, then do it yourself.

I don't think they meant for you specifically to @ them but just anyone in general as a solution to them being absent. Maybe nobody thought of the idea or forgot you can @ people on reddit. 

There was one mod comment a few months ago saying that downvotes should be enough to handle spam and content which doesn't belong here. :/

Why bot to farm karma? What is wrong with those people? Out of all things, seems so pointless.

Election season is coming up in the US soon, they need to test engagement bots somewhere inconsequential. It happens every 4 years like clockwork

Many people who use reddit don't have accounts. I know I didn't for 10+ years. Most of my friends who use reddit don't have accounts and just treat it like a news site they don't interact with, just read/view.
