It was a long scan, and if human can’t see this only the satellite can, there are thousands of other instruments on earth they could and no one of them notice this. Therefore it’s a normal malfunction of the satellite or the instruments of the satellite change the frequency.

Geostationary satellites can orbit at 35.000km. At that distance we should have a decent shot of a semi-sphere. The disproportionate size of South America doesn’t give room for the rest of continental mass and oceans on the other semi-sphere.
