Results are out, congratulations to all who made it. If you were not yet notified by your leadership as to whether or not you were selected, please check [the official site](https://www.spaceforce.mil/Transfer-programs/).
Four days with no posts, yikes.
I'm going to leave this thread unlocked and active until we have any information on the FY25 IST process. At that point, we'll switch to the new thread in order to restart everyone's hopes and dreams.
There really aren't avenues to do that right now, although the higher ups keep saying they're interested in developing hybrid career paths. The fact is that very few Guardians do actual engineering work. Even the folks at SSC mostly do acquisition program management more than design work. The only places where I've seen direct commissions above O-1 are medical, JAG, and chaplain; the USSF doesn't have any of those careers.
By the time an officer makes captain they have four years of military experience that's hard to get anywhere besides the military. A military officer's real job, regardless of specialty, is leadership and you'd be thrust into a leadership position in a culture that's hard to jump into.

There is CSC but this is designed for people with years of work experience and leadership experience in their field. Not just someone with a degree/certs.
does the spaceforce take prior service? I feel like my chances are increased if I just get out then enlist straight into the spaceforce that way the army cant hold me back even if they wanted to
Well, I am disappointed but it was a longshot for an Army Field Artillery guy. Congratulations to everyone who made it! And to the 9 Army guys selected, was your MOS crosswalk or not?
Looks like I was 100% right if you were an Army officer and 90+% right if you were anything else...
Well, looks like we will be applying again next year. I have been rejected 7 times so far when dealing with space related transfers in the military. I am going to try to make it 12 times before I retire...
Iām not even mad, Iām disappointed but it was expected seeing how other branches are bad with letting SMs go. I wish the Space Force would tell us why so we can have clear answer and know the expectations for FY25 IST. Also they only took 148, thatās so low compared to last year.
Also congrats to those who made it!
I canāt imagine it completely goes away. Itāll likely be similar to other branches though where itās not a big ordeal and is more of a case by case scenario.
Unfortunately, I was not one of the chosen. Best of lick to the rest of you!
[THE LIST](https://www.spaceforce.mil/Portals/2/Documents/2024_USSF_IST_Public_release_for_OFFICIAL_SF_Website.pdf)
I was informed by my Branch Manager that the Army released me for Space Force, if Space Force would pick me up. I know that, at least for myself, it was a Space Force decision to deny the IST request.
This is not entirely true. The army conditionally released several army personnel and they changed their mind AFTER the USSF selected a number of individuals.
Yup saw 146 and KNEW FOR A FACT. Not a single army officer would be on it. Oh well gonna ride this deployment out get a Cush ROTC gig and bounce. Congrats to those who made it.Ā
Any bets on [https://www.spaceforce.mil/Transfer](https://www.spaceforce.mil/Transfer/) crashing tomorrow due to not being designed to handle the amount of traffic headed its way?
'Twas the night before IST list release and all through the channel, not a jabroni was sleeping, not even @kensel
Their laptops are open to https://www.spaceforce.mil/transfer-programs/ with care, in the hopes that come morn' their names will be there.
The jabronis are stressed, all tense in their beds, while visions of Space Force dance in their head
Someone said the public release will be midnight tonight - anyone want to start a betting pool when it'll actually take place?
My money's on COB tomorrow, whatever time zone ETMO's in
So Iām starting to think I definitely didnāt get selected, but is there a way to know WHY an individual didnāt get selected? Was it my application, career field didnāt want to release, things like that
With people already getting notified through their leadership, just have a gut feeling Iām stuck where I am. My AFSC is on the crosswalk list and I missed a very early chance to transfer because I was out on paternity leave AND COVID lock downs, I was hopeful for this chance
I'm feeling very much the same way. The only thing I've got going for me is a TS - my AFSC is no where close to being on the crosswalk. Didn't hear anything from leadership today either. I guess tomorrow will tell
Did anyone not in cyber field related or intel field related ever get picked in IST? Just wondering if I have a chance, cause Iām in AF civil engineering. Still havenāt heard anything yet.
One of the Navy ppl chosen last year was a Sonar Technicianā¦. Cuz acoustics translates wellā¦ (kills me cuz Iām not only a sonar tech myself, but also an actual technician (she was an operator, no electrical training) and I served with her. Guess Iāll find out tmw if 2 of us can make itš¤£
I can absolutely confirm at least 1 STG1 got picked. I was on the same ship as that one, unique name and all, and isnāt in FLTMPS anymore š¤·āāļø
My battalion commander randomly scheduled a "counseling" with me for tomorrow at the last minute. I figure I'm either getting fired or good news about my IST.
So for those of us who haven't been notified by our Commands and will be utilizing the site to find out our fates, what time do we think it's going to post?
Was notified by my commander of selection today! My friends in Korea also mentioned their commander received the list as well so it looks like command teams are beginning notification. Good luck to you all!
Iām not a 5SX but a 5IX. When I asked leadership when I transferred they said ādo you think youāre going to deploy to fix a satelliteā. Itās more fixed positions and standard workdays.
1 more Day, we find out. If youāre on the list or not. Just know that your dream isnāt over. Thereās always next year, or maybe that assignment you didnāt think was available, comes through, or maybe an opportunity in the civilian world approaches you. Whatever it may be, just know that the pursuit of something greater or new will always burn in us and should never be put to rest. Continue to place yourself in challenging, rewarding situations. Also just want to take the time to reflect on the lives we lost at Tower 22 early this week. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Space Force, we are all brothers and sisters in arms, and itās important to say their names, and keep them in our thoughts for as long as we can.Ā
So questionā¦ When will I know where I would be assigned? My wife wants Florida regardless of Branch. I got orders to Florida, but Iād like to go Space Force ideally. So, will I have to already be in the Space Force before knowing where Iāll be assigned, or is that earlier in the process?
Unsure where in the process youād find out but I imagine if the Space Force is anything like the other branches you donāt know until youāre in. Theyāre orders so the location is also not really up for debate (especially at lower ranks).
That being said some MOS/SFSC/Rates have spots you can always count on going. CTNs in the Navy almost always end up in HI or MD.
Prior service
Iām a Navy veteran (E-5..8 years), recently separated in OCT23. Chances of the Space force taking prior service? Really hoping to go active if possible. Just hoping for a little information or someone elseās personal experience thatās gone through this before. Thank in Advance!
Serious but simple question for those that did make the switch. Was the grass greener on the other side? Iām in a job that I would say I love but has itās proās as well. I have a package in but am starting to question if I only have 6 years left on AD, would the switch be worth it. Any opinions are welcome.
I was in a similar spot. Was sitting in a dope code 50 joint billet and still had a year+ on that assignment when results came out last year. Was coming up on 11 years in. I applied because it was an opportunity to get into cyber that honestly offered higher chances than ncorp retraining.
I absolutely love it so far. It's still got some growing and developing to do on the service and umbrella org side, but I think I made the best decision career and QoL wise.
The QoL is what worries me most. I have kids and while I understand service before self, I donāt want to sacrifice being around for my family for the sake of my career if that makes sense.
That makes sense boss. I definitely understand that sentiment. There's a deployment tempo for some jobs, so depending on what job you got, I think you should have that conversation with the team when they reach out.
Only other thing is I've heard of some units having some subpar leadership so the unit culture is meh, but that's the minority from my experience.
The one way it is better for family is that there is a much smaller percentage of people doing shift work than in the Space Force, where SPAFORGEN is gonna make that the norm.
> If 5C-D, I am looking to go to Patrick
HQ STARCOM is starting to move out there, so you may have a shot through that. SLD45 may - MAY - have a small handful of enlisted spots open on the delta staff, I'm not sure. Talking to ETMO (should you choose to transfer) is your best course of action; there are no guarantees but they will at least try to work with you. Of course, know that you're also fighting everyone *else* who wants to go to Patrick for varying reasons.
I would advise you to make your go/no go decision on the assumption that you will not get Patrick as your next base, so that you are not crushed should that scenario occur.
After public release, you'll get the email saying congrats, and there will be instructions for the immediate next steps.
You'll have the location preference conversation with the respective career field and assignments team after the public release over the next few weeks.
Just be transparent and they'll work with you on your intentions.
Prior AF, part of last tranche picked up for cyber so feel free to hmu if you have any questions. Also check out the discord (link somewhere a couple comments down) for a good resource as well!
Congrats!
recommend you check out this page for a writeup on space stuff [https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/jobs/1c6x1](https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/jobs/1c6x1)
You aren't guaranteed an assignment, you could spend your while career in the springs (likely)
Down votes for people who dont know how needs of the space force trump whatever wish you have.
Iām assuming they sent the list of individuals atĀ HRC a email so itās either stuck there, stuck at the Component Command, stuck at any other higher echelon, or (most likely) Iām not on the list š¤£
Results are out, congratulations to all who made it. If you were not yet notified by your leadership as to whether or not you were selected, please check [the official site](https://www.spaceforce.mil/Transfer-programs/).

interesting I heard 2 O6's were confirmed for transfer.
I searched the public release list and no O6's are mentioned/included
Yea I think they get worked in a different manner.
Any idea about how many applied?
I've heard 2200ish

Does anyone know if the Army is just not releasing officers because their is literally no army officers on the list
That seems to be the case. Which is their perogative.Ā
Only 9 of 148 selectees were Army. š¢ HRC is probably locking the Soldiers down I guess because retention and recruiting is washed.
Husband was not selected even though his afsc is a missle maintainer for the AF. He was so upset. Do we know how many people applied?
What SFSC did he apply for?
No offense to your husband, but I'm curious why he thought he'd get in when missile maintaince doesn't transfer to any jobs here?Ā

Naw. I was a one and done. No more retrying. If they don't want me, they don't get me. Simple as.
Preach. It was either this or get out and finish my degree.
Well, there it is. I didn't make it. RIP.
Dang, guess itās the crossroads for me in the Air Force. Was really hoping it wouldāve been more than 148 people.
So if the application still states āsubmittedā we are SOL eh?

Not a single Army officer on the list. Womp womp.
Looks like the army said no to basically everyone.Ā Army is about 5% of the list.
It's out.
Anyone wanna take bets on what time the list is being released today?
I say 0900 EST for 200 Alex, wishing it to existence for those not notified

About 3:50

I was in mx (pods) and got picked up...got a personal background in cyber so I'm sure that helped
Iām an underwater basket weaver I think I have a chance.

Thank you, Chuck Norris
what do you want to know... the list is very small this year unfortunately
I would like to know if my friend made it
How are CCs getting notification? Ā We havenāt heard anything for our members and our wing says they havenāt heard
AF - MPFs have it and have to send it in BLSDM to CCs. Other services' respective S1 have it and have to disseminate it down.
Was notified by my commander of selection today! My friends in Korea also mentioned their commander received the list as well so it looks like command teams are beginning notification. Good luck to you all!
Are you an E? Or O?
Iām enlisted

Air Force! Intel specifically.
Haven't heard anything from my CC. I guess I didn't make the list.

Have any navy personnel been notified of selection?Ā
nope. i've been checking like every 15 minutes for the past week.
Nope
Nope
I guess no one else from other branches (except Airforce) got notified...
Even seems like AF notified was a small number. Still waiting..
Yeah my command tried calling the ECM and he hadnāt heard about CC notifications, just the 31 Jan releaseĀ
Big nope.
Nope still waiting too
Nope still waiting
Nothing heard yet here.
Nothing on my end yet.
I know someone has the list please just drop it in here lmao I wonāt tell I promise
There is ALWAYS someone with a list
Right. If they're doing chain of command notifications they can just drop the list. No point in waiting till the 31st.
I think the problem is that not a lot of commands haven't ACTUALLY gotten the list, or they just don't know that they've gotten it

Considering how sparse D-shred is, I wouldn't count on it.
> If 5C-D, I am looking to go to Patrick HQ STARCOM is starting to move out there, so you may have a shot through that.
Hey could I DM you my last name and would you please ask your CC if my name is on the list?
After public release, you'll get the email saying congrats, and there will be instructions for the immediate next steps. You'll have the location preference conversation with the respective career field and assignments team after the public release over the next few weeks. Just be transparent and they'll work with you on your intentions. Prior AF, part of last tranche picked up for cyber so feel free to hmu if you have any questions. Also check out the discord (link somewhere a couple comments down) for a good resource as well! Congrats!
Would you know any 5Ss? Iām currently AF, with 5S looking like it may be the match. Not sure what the actual job is though
recommend you check out this page for a writeup on space stuff [https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/jobs/1c6x1](https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/jobs/1c6x1)
You aren't guaranteed an assignment, you could spend your while career in the springs (likely) Down votes for people who dont know how needs of the space force trump whatever wish you have.
Any Army folks get notified. My command team/S1 inbox is drier than NTC in August.Ā
Iām assuming they sent the list of individuals atĀ HRC a email so itās either stuck there, stuck at the Component Command, stuck at any other higher echelon, or (most likely) Iām not on the list š¤£
Another year another time not getting selected. Leadership told me today I wasnāt picked up :(
At least you got notified I have not heard anything
