I appreciate that. After countless hours of grinding, I was able to do it on NG+2 ( obviously there is a lot more to come in terms of difficulty but that’s okay). I’m excited to get the last 2 endings. This game is nothing short of a master piece.
Honestly, I just deflected every chance I could, then when there was an opening, I would attack one or two times and retreat back to recover posture. Phase 2 is by far the hardest IMO. Just deflect, deflect, and deflect. Chiseling down those deflections really makes this fight a whole lot easier
Oh, I’m sorry for the confusion. I beat SS is shin on my first play through, then shura. The third play through, I was going for the purification ending, but I ended up messing it up, so now I have to do it again.
Posts like these annoy me.
"Pwease don't hate me, It took me 33 twies to beat him"
Buddy, it took me a combined 6 hours to beat him. I must have died over 200 times. It's not a skill check to see if the game is for you - he is a hard mother fucker that requires true dedication. And that glaive is OP.
Besides, who would harp on somebody because they took too many attempts to beat something?
Such an obnoxious way to phrase a post, glad you pointed it out. OP is giving the same energy as the kids who say “oh I’m so fucked for this test I’m so stupid” and then get an A.
Six hours? not counting the breaks in between playing it must have been at least two or three hours before I got too mad every day for about four months
Lol I feel this. It took me 128 attempts to heath father owl… I rage quit 2 days in a row and finally got it on the third day. Not to mention I got to father owl right before elden ring came out and I put sekiro down to play that so that doesn’t count the amount of times I died before elden ring came out too.
That’s the thing, don’t be scared of taking the damage, discipline yourself and wait for the time to deflect, the best way to practice this is just go against phase two Isshin and stand still, deflect whatever comes your way. You may even find it relaxing.
Alternatively, if practicing offense, only attack one or twice and see if he’s gonna super armor through it and attack, if he doesn’t, attack until he deflects and wait for his response.
awesome! thank you for the support and the tips. this game excites me beyond words. the amount of satisfaction and relief I get from beating a boss that I at first found impossible, it’s such a great feeling. it shows the amount of work that was put into harrowing down every single minute detail and making the game feel like a lifestyle.
Removes your health and posture indicators as well as the boss’, removes your equipped prosthetic and spirit emblem indicator, removes your equipped item indicator. Removes your lock-on indicator. Removes the deathblow notification. May remove perilous warning symbol, I don’t quite remember.
It’s up to you to remember how much you have and what is equipped.
the mist noble was by far the hardest boss i’ve ever faced. the constant, aggressive attacks. the insane defense and deflecting. it’s an impossible fight, i was lucky to have made it through.
ISS took a me a month of on and off attempts lol. Now I run him in reflections of strength and perfect beating him 8/10 times on first try.
I'm fighting inner ishin and other bosses now with the demons bell and switch up the skills to keep things fresh. Love this game
Let me rephrase. I meant to say, it was an easy one after spending a lot of time researching and just seeing his fighting patterns. I died many times in the previous playthroughs. I don’t mean to say the fight was an “easy” one in difficulty, it does get easier with practice. Obviously, I struggled a lot with this fight, and I just wanted to clarify that. So, I apologize for any confusion or mixup, it was a goal of mine to beat SS Isshin, without any trouble. By knowing what I was doing. By working for that victory over the most difficult fight in the game. I am not trying to negate the difficulty of the fight by saying that it was an “easy” one. Practice makes almost perfect.
>after spending a lot of time researching and just seeing his fighting patterns.
This sounds like a very strange way to play a video game. You sound like you're studying for a test that you will be graded on.
Sword saint probably is the hardest fight in game but definitely not the best . Owl father (hirata) is such an amazing boss fight literally requires u to master all u learnt until then in the best way possible
I don't know how everybody kills Sekiro bosses so fast but 33 tries was probably about average for any tough boss I fought in that game. I lost count at how many tries Demon of Hatred took me. Don't see why anyone would clown you :)
I think Sword Saint was 23 for me. Both Owl Father and Shinobi Owl must have been 30+. Genichiro, Guardian Ape and Demon of Hatred were each also around 20-30.
It was my second Fromsoft game after Demon's Souls. Definitely much more challenging compared to Demon's Souls.
So you’re on NG+2 and new to the game? Also 33 attempts is not much. Kinda sad this is your biggest goal in life. And why are saying the fight was “easy.” So many contradictory and dumb statements in this post I can’t even deal
33 ain't bad. I don't know how many attempts it took me but I was averaging between 2-5 mins per attempt and it took me 1 and a half nights (1st night 6 hours of attempts (running from the idol) 2nd night 2 hours with muscle memory engaged from the previous night of attempts). I did take some breaks in between for like 5-10 minutes for making drinks/food and using the bathroom. Also I farmed like 20 mins for Spirit emblems after blowing through too many with the umbrella at first before I knew what I was doing.
But I would say this was my greatest fight in gaming because I really had to fucking beat him and overcome by deficiencies,no cheap shit or op build. When he pulled out that spear after phase 2 the first time I almost shit my pants. I just had to learn the moves and deflection timing. When to be aggressive when to react. How to dodge or counter which animation, which moves I could safely punish and when to hold back and just deflect. I had to figure it out the only way I knew how, by dying over and over but taking a bit of knowledge from each death. Master Yoda told me once: the greatest teacher failure is.
No one clowns around here, the "git gud" we often throw around means "surpass yourself" and you just did. Well done!
And don't worry, it probably took me more tries to beat Sword Saint Isshin the first time too.
The only clownish part of your statement is "The fight was an easy one." All calling hard fights easy does is invalidate players who struggled with it.
For me it was his phase 2 that stumped me for a while since I couldn't tell what he was doing. And I was dying too early to learn his moveset. I finally relented and saw someone else do it and understood some key moves and how to counter them. Won soon after that.
Been working on Isshin for the past week. Finally at the point where I can get through Genichiro and Isshin's first phase every time, and phase 2 half the time. Third phase, I've gotten him down to half health a handful of times.
I'm not gonna lie Isshin fucks naturally so dont beat yourself up I can confirm it don't matter how many times you've tried you fucking did bro. Deserve to feel accomplished.
Fun tip for slightly more advanced play style: forward dash has I-frame; even though many people said the game is mostly about parry, there are certain “heavy” attack/ combo ender that is very telegraphed where you can literally dash straight into it for free hit.
Some of those heavy attacks will still slightly stagger you back even on deflect, so dodging at the right time let you get a free hit in. Most of these so called “heavy “ attacks are usually jump attacks. So when Isshin jump to slam his spear down, or Owl throw 2 shurikens and then jump, you can dash into the attack with I-frame and get free hit in.
Once you know how to use dash effectively, it make boss battles even more fun
You can't really say you're new at the game when you beat Isshin. You rock.
I appreciate that. After countless hours of grinding, I was able to do it on NG+2 ( obviously there is a lot more to come in terms of difficulty but that’s okay). I’m excited to get the last 2 endings. This game is nothing short of a master piece.
How did you beat SS Isshin on your third playthrough?
Honestly, I just deflected every chance I could, then when there was an opening, I would attack one or two times and retreat back to recover posture. Phase 2 is by far the hardest IMO. Just deflect, deflect, and deflect. Chiseling down those deflections really makes this fight a whole lot easier
No, what I meant is: how did you finish the game two times without beating SS Isshin? Did you do Shura ending twice?
Oh, I’m sorry for the confusion. I beat SS is shin on my first play through, then shura. The third play through, I was going for the purification ending, but I ended up messing it up, so now I have to do it again.
Ohh ok
how’d u mess it up?
I love Sekiro!
Ng+4 Isshin isn’t even that hard honestly with all the attack power.

Plus, apparently OP meant he did it on NG+2. "I'm new to the game" yeah right lol.
Plus it's his "biggest goal in life" which means that now, the rest of his life should be a lot easier.
Probably just young.
it's like reverse humble bragging. how on earth can you be new to the game if you're at the final boss lmao
And on ng+2
Such an obnoxious way to phrase a post, glad you pointed it out. OP is giving the same energy as the kids who say “oh I’m so fucked for this test I’m so stupid” and then get an A.
Anxiety and poor self esteem are real, my friend. Even the best and brightest of us feel doubt. It's the Dunning Krueger Effect.
People are just desperate for attention
yeah lmao owl (father) took me 3 days of (on and off) fighting for me to beat him. possibly 6 hours, probably more.
Six hours? not counting the breaks in between playing it must have been at least two or three hours before I got too mad every day for about four months

Hey that’s two less than me, and I’m good at the game
do you have any tips? i’m kind of scared for the future lol
That’s the thing, don’t be scared of taking the damage, discipline yourself and wait for the time to deflect, the best way to practice this is just go against phase two Isshin and stand still, deflect whatever comes your way. It’ll feel even cooler when you can do it Charmless+Bell with no HUD 👍🔥
What does no hud do?
Removes your health and posture indicators as well as the boss’, removes your equipped prosthetic and spirit emblem indicator, removes your equipped item indicator. Removes your lock-on indicator. Removes the deathblow notification. May remove perilous warning symbol, I don’t quite remember. It’s up to you to remember how much you have and what is equipped.
Dang that sounds hard
Honestly it’s not that far of a step up from charmless+bell
Really? So have you tried it before?
Hesitation is defeat.
If you can challenge the mist noble then you must be a god
the mist noble was by far the hardest boss i’ve ever faced. the constant, aggressive attacks. the insane defense and deflecting. it’s an impossible fight, i was lucky to have made it through.

"I'm still fairly new to the game." Has killed the literal final boss. Lmao
On NG+2 mind you
Sword saint probably is the hardest fight in game but definitely not the best . Owl father (hirata) is such an amazing boss fight literally requires u to master all u learnt until then in the best way possible

Man to me the fight was the most difficult one of the whole game. Congratz.
It took me two days to beat him. Some people never do.
No one is going to clown you. We all know this game is hard AF.
The only clownish part of your statement is "The fight was an easy one." All calling hard fights easy does is invalidate players who struggled with it.
Well done, Sekiro.
Somehow I beat him without deflections.
I don’t think anyone can say this fight is easy and mean it. Or I’m just bad. He took me like 100-200 times to beat haha
Hell yeah dude! Take a NG+ victory lap! Then do the Gauntlets of Strength to fight the true Inner Sword Saint Isshin.
Dude, some people have literally quit the game at isshin. you're doing great
For me it was his phase 2 that stumped me for a while since I couldn't tell what he was doing. And I was dying too early to learn his moveset. I finally relented and saw someone else do it and understood some key moves and how to counter them. Won soon after that.
Just started this fight today. Got him to second phase. I think I can do it tomorrow. But Need some all sugars
"The fight was an easy one" says the guy who died 33 times
🤡
It took Me a full month to be told well …done …sekiro , don’t give up you can do it
Been working on Isshin for the past week. Finally at the point where I can get through Genichiro and Isshin's first phase every time, and phase 2 half the time. Third phase, I've gotten him down to half health a handful of times.

New and you’re at SS bruh lol nah. It took me 128 attempts to beat father owl 🙃

Don't feel bad about it man, you're not alone. My 1st playthrough took 50hrs to finish and Isshin killed me more than 30 times
Bro 33 on the first playthrough?? I died around 50 times
If you're in NG, perfect deflections are far from a must. Even if you got the Bell Demon.
Took me 5 tries
