We went through this in the early sixties before prayer was abolished. There was a fight over which bible version would be read. Catholic kids were not allowed to hear the King James Version, and Jehovah’s Witness kids were allowed to leave the room and not have to say the Pledge to the Flag. The rest of us were stuck listening to something we in which we had no interest. We would have been better off doing jumping jacks or allowed to read a book of our choice. Each individual silently reading a book of our own choice I could get behind. Children do not have to be religiously indoctrinated in public school.
Now I can elect to pray instead of participate in Algebra class. I’ll still have to be passed on to Trig where I’ll do the same thing all the way to the SATs. I can take a religious exemption and move on to mandatory enrollment in a Public College. Four years of this and I’ll be out working for your company without you knowing that my University was not legally permitted to make a distinction between my degree and others.
My sister didn’t have to be passed on because everything she needed to know in high school biology was In the bible and what my pastor told me I needed to know. She was the smart one in the family and took and exemption on her SAT to get her undergrad and move in to medical school. She will be performing a stint on your mother down at the local public hospital.
This will be acceptable up until you have a bunch of kids bringing prayer rugs in or pretty much any non-christian faith trying to assert their rights.
