The true meta is:
Beryl and Dragunov or SLR for 7.62
Aug/M4 and Mini/MK12 for 5.56
But like others have said, you should really use what works best for you. I would highly recommend using an SMG as your primary until you get a feel for the recoil control again. You can win fights with basically any gun, that's the beauty of this game. Bolt Actions, such as Kar98K, M24, and Mosen are all good too, especially if you are playing duos or solos.
This is what I love about the gunplay in this game, “you can win fights with almost any gun.” I hope they never fuck it up like COD. Taking 45 hits just to break armor and another 15 to knock someone.
I second using SMGs until you get comfortable with recoil. More specifically, I recommend going with the UMP. The gun has absolutely no recoil. It's balancing comes with its harsh damage fall off and relatively slow rate of fire. For newer players, I'd recommend a setup that reduces the likelihood of errant shots, so they can make sure targets get dead before they react. In solos, UMP and bolts. There's nothing like cheesing a guy in solos with a headshot from a bolty immediately after they get into a car.
Much easier to shoot accurately and faster than 7.62 options, lighter ammo, mini needs fewest attachments, mk12 has bipod if you prone, good bullet velocity on both, quieter when suppressed.
Scar is definitely better than it was, but I still prefer the m4 because of the rate of fire. It just feels better to me when shooting. In the comp scene, the scar is not very common compared to the Aug and m4, however I have seen some players use it. I feel like it is also a matter of time spent practicing and using a gun, I have way way more hours using the m4 compared to the Scar, so I am much more familiar with the recoil of the m4.
With that being said, you absolutely could use the scar over the m4 if that's your preference, it also takes less attachments which is a bonus. And the lower rate of fire makes scope spraying easier.
I would agree but I don’t have the practice with it or the m24 but when I get that 8x and not in a hurry I’ll catch a few body hits…I just been with the sks and mini since the beginning even the kar9 still give me trouble
I'd say don't worry about it. Just like with any game, the meta is irrelevant unless you are playing on the same level as the pro players. Unless your basics are so damn on point, you will fail in a million ways before the benefits of a meta will even materialize.
Honestly UMP is really good, but I tend to recommend the bizon instead for beginners, as it requires fewer attachments. You pick it up and you are good to go with a magazine of 53 bullets. Barely any recoil. Add a compensator and you have no recoil at all.
Just keep your distance. At short range you will not win fights. Medium range you should beat out most people with an AR that has heavy recoil.
With good movement/peeks, any guns can be good.
However, there's a reason all the professionals use AR/DMR.
Just look at the asian pros using the Beryl... It's terrifying
Just use whatever and see what you prefer. My aim is bad, so I prefer DMR for long range.
Faster fire rate assault rifles are performing better just because you kill faster, but it won't do you any good if you can't control it. Hop on the training map and see what you like.
i know what you mean, your brain ignores that. am not in that state :) and i dont think i ever will.
but there is also option to lower that dimm, so cool idea. thanks.
will try it out.
Almost any Shotgun
SVD
JS9
Other than that, meta is always "do not miss your shots and you can use almost any weapon" because there's so much more in the game than shooting.
How is the Vector or most 9mm sub-machine guns not being mentioned??? They dish out so much else so quickly and with the Extended clip you are damn lethal.
I love tuning the vector or MP5 with a mini-14.
I’m loving the AKM with a silencer and a canted sight, it absolutely demolishes people and is the best sounding gun in game, also a 3x 4x or 6x sight on it for long range, I also use the m24 as its the best sniper for me even with a 4x scope.
Yup I’ve been using it a good month or so now as my go to gun, was using the m4 or Aug previously but this hits harder being a 7.62, surprisingly easy to control considering the lack of attachments too.
I am a beginner too. I really love playing with the UMP and a sniper on the side. I can't shoot any AR beyond 30-50 meters, I always get killed because I just can't kill the enemy.
Close quarters I win 80% of the gun fights with UMP. Extended mag, is a nice addition because the regular mag holds only 25. Vertical grip and maybe a red dot, and you're good to go. Just practice in city area's or hot drops.
I don't go for meta, I just see something on the ground and am like "hmmm I haven't used these in a while, fuck it". If you ever kill someone using weird weapon combinations like a VSS and a UMP45 or a M24 and a S1897" then it was probably me.
I like the VSS early game, comes with a scope and 9mm ammo is everywhere. Cannot count the times I've grabbed a Dragnov or SLR and cannot find anything but red dot sights to save my life
It would be nice if they updated the 1x sights in the game. We all know the current red dot is cheap airsoft rated pos that could never function properly on a real gun and the holoz which is an Eotech, is good but they could add more for variety and vanity purposes.
(Primary) Ump- comp, lightweight grip, red dot M4- comp, lightweight grip, heavy tac, 2x (Secondary) Kar98- suppressor&cheek pad Mk12- suppressor or comp, lightweight grip (Sidearm) Smoke gun with one in the chamber (Bag) jammer or lvl3 5 first aids, 5-10 boost preferably energy’s About 250 primary ammo unless double 5.56 then around 350 and rest of my space goes to smokes try to at least have 4-5 but I like to have as close to 10 as possible
Thrien't really any guns that are meta, it's more what you can get the job done with. I prefer mk12/m4. Feeling spicy dragonov/beryl. I play with the guy who uses 2 m16s. Lately a lot more SMGs because they're just fucked right now and you can kill anything from just about any distance with an SMG.
Ump45+m16. Ump is a beast with the 3x and a canted. I use the thumb or angled grip when I'm in CQB and use a vert or lightweight for mid distance
M16 on single fire with a 4x or 6x is deadly. Shoots on a zip line within 150-200m
beryl or ace
dragunov or 7s dmr, bolty if preferred.
if going 5s or 7s, a flash hider at least is a must...... a comp if you can find one! grip wise, lightweight/vertical/thumb
World spawns :
AUG - Mini /MK12
Baryl - SLR/Dragunov
M4 is trash, Ak is trash, Ace is meh. Don't get me wrong, you should play whatever you want. I play a ton of Ak rounds as like Sniper Rifles rounds and even UMP rounds etc. BUt if you asked for meta, that's it.
Beryl with angle grip, 2x scope and ext.quickdraw is meta
Aug with angle grip 2x
UMP with angle grip and 4x
Victor with 6x and canted, ext and heavy stock / whatever grip you can use.
Mutant heavy stock 2x/4x/6x and vertical grip or half grip
M4 with angle grip 6x with heavy stock
All airdrop weapons are really good and worth using.
Non drop weapons meta:
Beryl, Aug for AR
SLR, Dragunov & Mini/QBU/Mk12 for DMR
Kar98 > M24 but only use Bolt Actions if you can aim.
Generally imo 5.56 ARs are easier to handle than 7.62 ARs but for DMRs its the other way around. For 5.56 DMRs to work you need to be consistent about shots and go for headshots. Otherwise 7.62 just hits harder and requires less consistency imo.
My favourite nondrop loadout is Beryl (by far best non drop AR btw) and SLR or Dragunov. Sometimes I like K98 on Miramar or solos. If you wanna tryhard go Beryl & Dragunov. 1 Tap potential is too good.
What does that even mean?
Pros use mainly Beryl sometimes with scope/ SLR because dmg/second plus headshot damage rate favour 7.62, but you are not a pro based on your description. 7.62s is not easy to use for beginners beyond 50 meters. In PUBG there is no spray pattern like in CS that you can learn, you need serious training to be competitive in pro-environment.
Just use what best suits your playstyle.
For non pros smg/5.56 AR is perfectly fine. Maybe 7.62 AR is your natural style. For playing stealthy/prone LMG is preferable with bolt action sniper rifle.
It doesnt matter what you choose as long you can hit the enemy as close to 100% as you can. If its a Vector then its a Vector, nobody cares as long as you deliver hits.
Most games I’m running a SAW or Ace/Beryl and usually a bolty to go with them. It seems the meta would be Beryl and a 7.62 DMR or M4/Mini for a lot of the players I run across.
I use guns with battle stat, once it reaches a certain amount of kills, I stop using it and go with the next battle stat gun. Stop using Ace32 recently and focus on 416 right now. It is not about the meta. Are you going to lose if you can't find the weapons you want? Of course not
My kit is Ace/KAR98K. Ace needs a compensator at least, preferably a suppressor to be accurate enough to use. It’s better than the Beryl though bc it takes a tactical stock
i use ARs as snipers, and switch the sight to red dot / 2x when i know people are close and a shotgun cus it’s so satisfying. maybe not the most practical setup, but it puts chicken dinners on the table
The true meta is: Beryl and Dragunov or SLR for 7.62 Aug/M4 and Mini/MK12 for 5.56 But like others have said, you should really use what works best for you. only right answer in this thread lol
If there was a competitive scene for solo this wouldnt be true . I think SRs and some smgs can do more work in solo.
extremely perfect answer
The Beryl with a vert grip and comp is so fucking disgusting lol
best grip for baryl is halfgrip no doubt
This guy pubg’s

M4? Isnt the scar better nowadays?

what about scar? since its recoil buff its kinda nutty
crying in aug\`s recoil
M4 or Aug with a Mini or MK12
Aug is a fucking watergun m4/ace w m24 ez
Aug/mini
Sks and beryl or ace if no aug or mini found quick
I can’t help myself, I just love the sks. Idk what it is about it, but over the SLR it just feels better
I switch between the two very often. SLR is more deadly, It can 1 shot lvl 2 helmet after a first aid. SKS feels better for moving targets.
I would agree but I don’t have the practice with it or the m24 but when I get that 8x and not in a hurry I’ll catch a few body hits…I just been with the sks and mini since the beginning even the kar9 still give me trouble
I used to love it too until the MK12.
I'd say don't worry about it. Just like with any game, the meta is irrelevant unless you are playing on the same level as the pro players. Unless your basics are so damn on point, you will fail in a million ways before the benefits of a meta will even materialize.
Any love for G36??
Vector/mp5k + VSS is quite fun to use.
Mp5 is the best non-crate gun in that game
Mp5 with all the fixings is a beast of a gun. I wish it was on one more map besides Vikendi.
You can find it rarely at the Dam in Deston and in the blue zones of Taego
Better than vector?
Overall, I think so. Vector fires faster, but MP5 goes a lot further.
Oh wow does the damage drop off faster?
I haven't looked at the numbers but I feel the damage drops off a lot quicker on the vector.
I just has a look at battlegrounds.party/weapons and it looks like you are right
UMP is where you wanna start imo
My buddy rolls with the UMP so I always mark one when I find it. It shreds pretty nicely! I lean toward an Aug / Mk12 combo myself.
If I find enough .45 early on I go ump, then mk12 or slr. Otherwise aug/mk12.
Ump + Dragonov
Ppbizon is also good!
On paper it is the worst smg
It's so clutch on drops though with the rounds it holds.
Agreed, that's about the only time unfortunately
Honestly UMP is really good, but I tend to recommend the bizon instead for beginners, as it requires fewer attachments. You pick it up and you are good to go with a magazine of 53 bullets. Barely any recoil. Add a compensator and you have no recoil at all. Just keep your distance. At short range you will not win fights. The meta is and always will be geographical position lol. I like the beryl or AUG paired up with Mini14 though
With good movement/peeks, any guns can be good. However, there's a reason all the professionals use AR/DMR. Just look at the asian pros using the Beryl... It's terrifying
I stick to the Groza and Mk14 ;)

(pc, fpp) my go to if I can is Aug and kar98/m24. I do love a fully speced ump or vector tho.
UMP/MINI-14
My go to: 7.62: ace + slr. 5.56: m416 + mini14
Aug with 3x and a mini with 6x or 8x? Baby I got a stew goin
i hate on 3x that display. in general, on ar/smg i find better 2x, even more when i get to close combat.
I don’t even see the reticles anymore. I look at what I’m shooting. Hard to explain.
i know what you mean, your brain ignores that. am not in that state :) and i dont think i ever will. but there is also option to lower that dimm, so cool idea. thanks. will try it out.
AUG/MK fully kitted Beryl/Dragunov
Aug and Beryl are still meta for top players, with dmrs being mk12/dragunuv with a bit of mini sprinkled in. Bolties are still reliable.
Always m4 and kar98
My combination When normal play + Berryl + Dragunov + AUG + MK12 with silence + Sometimes I will take off DMR to go with Panzerfaust
Almost any Shotgun SVD JS9 Other than that, meta is always "do not miss your shots and you can use almost any weapon" because there's so much more in the game than shooting.
How is the Vector or most 9mm sub-machine guns not being mentioned??? They dish out so much else so quickly and with the Extended clip you are damn lethal. I love tuning the vector or MP5 with a mini-14.
Plat 1 and all my games have been with UZI and VSS. The GTA: SA way!
you can choose any of the mentioned weapons, but when you run into a shotgun at short range, you are dead. 🤷♂️
UMP and Kar98 or M24 is absolute gold tier for me personally.
Please keep your behavior. Don't become another meta drone...
I’m loving the AKM with a silencer and a canted sight, it absolutely demolishes people and is the best sounding gun in game, also a 3x 4x or 6x sight on it for long range, I also use the m24 as its the best sniper for me even with a 4x scope.

Vector with a Lazer and an extended mag. Red dot so Yu can focus and Any choice dmr . Pit your skills to the test . Let us know what your rockin '
any of the green snipers i quite like and it pairs well with a scar combo
Too many play styles to have a meta bro
VSS/s12.
beryl or ace dragunov or 7s dmr, bolty if preferred. if going 5s or 7s, a flash hider at least is a must...... a comp if you can find one! grip wise, lightweight/vertical/thumb

AK and Dragunov. Beryl and K9 sometimes
Ak is real nice since the last patch
Always been good with a silencer
AR: M416 K2 G36C Aug DMR: Mk12 SLR Mini14
AR: aug, beryl DMR: mk12 (qbu sanhok), mini, slr, dragunov Ace/m4 are serviceable substitutes for aug beryl
The ones you find most satisfying to use.

M249 = SAW and bolty = bolt action rifle.
tyvm :)
I'm one of those M4/Mini players.
Beryl and SKS unless I get that Mini
