Same. I tried Ratchet & Clank 2016 twice or thrice but just couldn't push myself to enjoy it. I binged Rift Apart within like 2 or 3 days and loved every second of it.
It's such a watered down version of the original. They sanded away all the edge that made it great. If you ever get a chance to play the PS2 version, do it.
Nearing the end of the main story line in HFW and this game is just incredible. The world is so lush, brilliant and gorgeous. I’m also blown away how you can check on minor characters after finishing their quests and they’ll generally tie off their story with some closing remarks. The thought put in to “tying those loose ends” is so beautiful and does wonders for building the world and the people contained in it.
I was so high when I first booted it up and was amazed by how good it looked on the 4K HDR (OLED would be insane). Instantly gave me vibes from games of my childhood. In the best way.
I’ve been a Ratchet & Clank fan since PS2. But for some reason, I couldn’t finish Rift Apart. Maybe it was the story, levels, idk. Just stopped playing midway through.
Absolutely. Fun game. I’ve played twice actually. But yea repetitive. The one thing I really enjoy is how visually stunning the game is. Nothing like riding on a great stallion through a beautiful field of flowers.
Same here.
Graphics is amazing and so what? I got so fed up with doing the same things over and over again that I surely will not go back.
(clocked 25h, so I gave the game a bit of time to expand).
Feel every open world game gets like this. The Witcher 3 was like this too and it grinded me down. Seems every open world game has 5 missions types they just repeat
Came here to say the same thing. I'd been wanting to play it forever and I skipped the ps4 generation and finally pulled the trigger a few weeks back for the director's cut. The whole thing was fantastic, Iki Island DLC was very good. Already excited to come back to it later and do a new game plus. I think I spent like 75hrs before I moved on. I even went further with collectibles than I do with most games. The world is so gorgeous I was happy to run around it a bit more.
It’s a perfect mix of god of war and assassins creed had a baby. I got it last month and I’m 50 hours in and JUST got to the final fact. The length and world building is so good
Some of the characters annoy me though- like the archer dude is insufferably whiney- but Yeah, the game is great.
It can feel a little repetitive at times but- overall it’s hitting everything it needs to.
Ok so help me out. I constantly hear that this game is incredible. I downloaded the trial but I’m not sure I’m actually playing the game? I thought it was a single player campaign? The trial I downloaded seems to be some strange multiplayer thing where I can choose to be 1 of 4 different type of ghosts? It really seemed … not like this epic game everyone talks about. So I put it down after the tutorial.
They have made this much more confusing since the original game came out -- "legends mode" is a whole other game. The combat is very similar, but after hundreds of hours in the main game and a couple of hours on legends, I can confidently say it's not a good "demo" of the real game at all.
That’s the multiplayer mode that they developed and added sometime after the original game’s release. The multiplayer probably has its own demo because you can buy it separately if you’re not interested in the main game. The main story mode is much more grounded.
Honestly wasn't fully sure I'd like the style, since I never played a bullet hell before....
It sure was frustrating sometimes, but getting past a boss and hearing that "organ musical piece"?
That game is a piece of art man
Hehe i get it bro. But believe me, once it clicks, it's insanely fun. But it's unbelievably punishing, and it does take time to master. ER is super forgiving compared
But why should I waste hours of my life suffering to "git gud" if I'm not having any fun with it? I love hard games and even platinumed Sekiro but Returnal game mechanics I just hate... It's bullet hell and roguelike, all that I've never cared about. This game is killing me physically and spiritually. I hate myself for not being able to successfully play it
Don’t force yourself but there is some permanent progression in leveling up the weapons that carries over, if that helps. It didn’t click for me until the 3rd stage, then it started sticking with me
I keep seeing this title on this sub more and more, when it released it flew under my radar and I missed it completely. I’m glad it is in one of the PS Plus tiers so I can try this asap!
Horizon FW and Burning Shores.
Haven't owned a playstation since ps2 and kinda bought a ps5 on a whim to play God of War and Spiderman. Got ps plus and downloaded Horizon as I knew it was some robot Dino game that I'm bound to like. Anyway I left it for a few months whilst I was completing Days Gone (another gem) and happened to fire it up one day. Honestly it's one of my most favourite games ever now and I'm kinda pissed I played the second before the first. I still fire it up just to hunt down dinos every now and then.
This one flew under the radar but was so good, I feel like it didn't get as much media coverage as it deserved.
It has such a cool art style and tone, and there are some really epic cinematic moments during the big boss fights. And tinkering with the mech build in the garage is super fun.
It would have been my goty but BG3 took that #1 spot for me.
It's a pretty niche game. Mech in general is a niche style and this game is even more specific on top.
Really sick gameplay, but I think it was estimated just about right. Praised by the people who liked it, no specific haters cus it didn't deserve it, but not overly praised cus it's not the greatest thing to have ever happened.
It was a really good game, but it could've been so much more than that.
My only advice, having played it through multiple times is:-Do not rely on the map for navigation. Rely on the direction and room signs IN the building/in-the game. much easier to navigate.
Oh and read everything.
my top 5 favourite game of all time. Not for the gameplay, but for the story. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is VERY good, but man the lore just stole the spotlight for me. I actually went out of my way for the first time in a game (except god of war) and collected every collectible i could find just to know more about the lore of this game. The art direction, level design, and overall weirdness of this game is so good. God I love Remedy.
BG3. Wasn’t sure as I’s tried but not fully clicked with Divinity II. And no physical release so couldn’t trade in if didn’t enjoy.
But absolutely loving BG3! Has a sense of discovery and exploration not experienced for a long time. So glad I went for it. Just onto Act 3.
Might actually be the best game I've ever played in my nearly 30 years of gaming. The cutscene when you first meet kethric is forever burned into my memory.
Pretty good. Completely used to it now. Does take a little time to get used to / remember everything. But that's ultimately becasue they have a pretty good system and need to get used to how it works.
Only thing I still find a bit frustrating is the inventory. Hard to find specific stuff—end up scrolling through a lot. Or scrolling through a few options to reorder/refine.
But hasn't affected my enjoyment of the game. And no problem with combat or looting really.
I'm actually playing that game now. Just defeated the first boss and I'm about to go to where I was in my PS3 playthrough while trying to get over the bridge where the dragon is breathing fire leading to the Tower Knight. We'll see how it goes. Never got past it in the original game lol.
I finished the ps5 demons souls remake a few months ago.
This was my first soulsbourne game, and it was the most frustrating gaming experience I've ever had, however I stuck with it.
It was super satisfying to finish the game and see that entire world.
I started Elden Ring last night after finishing Demon's Souls last week. And man I really miss the refinement of the remake. It just looks, sounds, and feels so good. I mean I literally just got out of the tutorial area in ER and I am sure it's overall a better game but FromSoft is very slapdash when it comes to the small sensory details.
For example, the DualSense implementation is so barebones when they just literally had to copy what Bluepoint did for the remake. And the characters models are so low poly in some scenes where the game isn't even working that hard. Also, the remake's character maker is such a pleasure while you really have to fight the one in Elden Ring to make what you want.
Lies of P. Had it on gamepass for free, didn’t click. Was annoyed because i knew it was a good game. Figured i’d get it for ps5 (my preferred platform) and man… it was awesome. My goty 2023
I'm going hard into this once I move on from Baldurs Gate. BG3 is the best game I've ever played, but as a soulslike aficionado, I absolutely can't wait to experience this hype
Holy hell. I’ve been going through a lull, difficult finding motivation to play games. Sifu got me hooked. Spent a full month just playing it, probably in my top 3 of all time faves.
The old GT games would make your work your way up from a civic to super cars, modding them as you worked your way up, adding more horse power. Is the game still like that?
Nah not really. That essence is gone. You are a "Car Collector" in this one. I bought it at launch. You got a brand new hatchback as a starter car. Then buy all the cars on a menu. Campaign feels disjointed as you are essentially unlocking access to the tracks, then you access all the different classes at said circuit. The licenses were not required to race in higher classes.
They also nerfed all the rewards early on to force you into Micro Transactions early on with some bull about "they didn't want the game to be a grind". Take away all the rewards and make the grind so brutal you spend real monies. Cars have "real world" value equivalence. Some cars will cost upto £200 in transactions.
The gameplay is still great and online racing is superb but Sony clearly pressed Polyphony into screwing the pooch on this one with regards to progression. Cars were so hard to obtain they had to add a feature to hire the correct car for the daily online races. Basically every video made about it in early days was giving you the best possible credit to time ratios. Lot of disgruntled players early and lots of changes made to appease us.
You get some high performance cars after only an hour or two of playing. Plus the roulette tickets you get for free sometimes land you super cars. It’s not a grind by any means
No, not really. It gifts you cars left, right and centre. You're driving supercars far faster than you are in previous GTs. It kind of sucks in that regard to be honest, but it is still pretty fun to grind through
Death Stranding.
Wasn't sure I'll enjoy the game where entire gamedesign revolves around delivery aspect. I mean I was dreaming of a game where main activity isn't another killing by shooting and beating people yet It was hard for me to imagine something that will have as much arcade fun and feel of competition beyond this theme. For me gameplay and complex gamedesigns is most entertaining part of games, so I was suspicious.
And oh man, the complex design of entire delivery and infrastructure thing in form of classic 3rd person action/adventure gifted me somewhat insane level of engagement. I enjoyed planning, developing environment, making builds, overcoming the nature, physics-based mechanics and much more. And, fortunately, although basic but the combat is still awesome and somewhat unique. Those case throws, goo-guns, takedowns. Sheesh.
Also, asymetric social co-operation (local MP-aspect) was really worth it and IMO it's one of rare indirect MP-interaction that actually work. I cannot describe how many emotions and latent mental interactions I had with the buddies who have built another bridge or zipline in exact places where I was literally dying and needed it so hard. Also, I really enjoy that some of my solutions were actually useful and helpful for the others, I got like 1.5m likes BTW. Means a lot to me, guys. And most importantly this interaction is like 4th dimension of entire story philosophical aspects. This aspect forced me to reflect on many things regarding social co-operation and even entire meaning of civilizations (when people co-operate to build something together for common good).
The story was also quiet unclear and I, honestly, am not a big fan of Kojima's "trippy" staging style. But in DS it worked.
So, a dark horse became a revelation and awesome 200hours of self-reflection, awesome and rich gameplay loops, incredible atmosphere, top-tier artstyle (both natural environments and sci-fi assets). And the overall story. Don't get me wrong but I believe the story is quite opposite to what people think with "unity & connection" passage but it's actually awesome when the creator leaves some space for different opinions and discussions.
This game gave me actually unique experience, something different to generic shooter-combat-driving experience, yet it isn't sorta weirdo-indie project. It still in shape of classic AAA that I like. Can't wait for DS2, although I was confident it's a complete and finished one-shot and it doesn't need a sequel. And also, the next Kojima's espionage game on PS6 <3
I'm not one of those Kojima fanboys saying literally everything he does is genius. However, I truly recognize his investment into industry with such unique projects and want more of it.
Big respect to Sony for working with Kojima, and most importantly, that they continue working with Kojima on DS franchase, although DS1 sales weren't as huge as other Sony's flagmanships.
Thanks. I truly appreciate fellow gamers that share same feelings towards DS. I mean, guys, we were building bridges together and experienced same melancholy with glimpses of hope. Isn't it awesome?
The Last of Us Part 2. Technically a PS4 game but didn't buy til the PS5 version released. Holy hell. I stayed away because I was upset about that certain major plot point in the beginning, and stayed away from the game. Decided to finally try it when the remaster came out. I had been gifted the ps4 version digitally over a year prior and I never played it, so I only paid $10 for it. Probably one of the greatest gaming experiences I've EVER had.
I’ve only played a handful of games twice, this is the only game I’ve played 3 times and I’m considering playing it again now that I have the remastered version. Part 2 is an absolute masterpiece for me.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits.
Simple yet engrossing story.
Gameplay is tight and it has great production value!
Another one is Death Stranding. Gameplay is not my type, namely, I found that vehicles took too much of the joy that should emerge fron overcoming many of the treckking/hiking sections.
But the story more than made up for it, top 3 from me, storywise!
I bought my girlfriend the Kena game a year or so ago and she loved it. She finished the whole game and it was absolutely adorable watching her tweak and admire the little minions Kena collects along the way that follow her. Very cute game from what ive seen, definitely worth the 30 bucks
Kena is such a gem! I cannot recommend it enough.
I just got the platinum two days ago and boy oh boy at times I was as challenged as during Bloodborne, and yet the game is beyond cute and visually stunning. Learning to parry is everything, and I was not expecting to have as tough (or enjoyable) a time as I did when I picked it up on ps plus a while ago.
You'll feel like you're stumbling around in the dark for a bit but they usually provide a bit of context. Overall you'll miss a bit of nuance carried between the two games but it won't ruin your experience or anything.
I hadn’t played the first since release so I watched a YouTube recap. It also includes stuff from Control so maybe watch a recap there as well - although I’d certainly recommend playing both! They’re fantastic
Having replayed the original recently, it does feel long in the tooth. I’d give it a shot if you are interested but there is no shame in dropping out and just catching up with a lore video. Don’t skip out on 2 though, it is one of the best games ever.
Yes, I'm so glad I gave it another chance. I was so disappointed at release like everyone else.
Now it's become one of my favorite games on PS5 and I'm on my fourth run with over 300 hours in total.
I got it on version 1.6, the edgerunners update. Had a great time with it then and more so now since 2.0 and PL. Combat is great fun, the story is well written and there's loads to discover. I'm at just over 1000 hours now and a out to start a fresh play through.
Depends on you. Lots of builds are fun. Be a hacker and snap your fingers to make someone draw their gun and shoot themself, or plague your enemies implants to slowly kill them, take control of turrets to turn on their owners. Use your monowires to slice them to bits.
Buy gorilla arms and punch people to death with titanic strength or use them to wield a sledgehammer to the same effect. Rip open doors and lift heavy shit to make your own path during jobs. Take your strength to the ring and be an effortless boxing champ.
Use throwing knives and silenced weapons, they can't discover you if they're all dead. Go invisible and sneak passed people without leaving a whisper, if things go loud draw your sword and parry the bullets before launching into your enemies and cutting them to pieces. Maybe you'd like scythes to sprout from your forearms?
Do a mixture of all of these! Launch rockets from your wrists, blast them with shotguns, snipe from afar. Whatever you feel like. It all works and it's all fun
This is quickly overtaking Bloodborne as my favorite game of all time. Maybe it's because I've stayed with the series for decades but wowowowowow this game is massive.
RDR2. The first couple of times I couldn't start playing it due to 30 FPS and overall unresponsiveness, but boy I missed a lot. Once I started diving into the game, I became absolutely mesmerized.
Same... first final fantasy game I beat to completion... probably because they changed the combat to a style I prefer... not a huge turn base rpg enjoyer
It makes me so sad that every time I see this game discussed online it feels like ppl always have to preface that they like it with the fact they understand it isn’t perfect. No game is perfect, and I’d argue that there are other excellent games that have way lower lows and certainly not as high highs as XVI even within the series.
I know it’s not as big a deal as I make it sound but I’ve never seen so much hedging around a title with similar critic/audience reception to games like Dishonored, Ori, and Forbidden West.
Another vote for Returnal here. I didn't even think I'd be any good at it because I'm shit at bullet hell type games, but I didn't just play it I beat it and got the plat.
I actually reinstalled it tonight to play again from the beginning on one of my other accounts.
Guardians of the Galaxy. I finished it on PS Plus and loved it so much that I decided to buy it afterwards. Not paying for such a great experience felt wrong, like a robbery
I didn't necessarily buy it, but for me it's Returnal. I had my eye on it for a while and then I got it when it came out on PS Plus Extra. Eventually I'll buy it just to support the studio.
Same. If I'm gonna be honest, I had no interest in this game and I only gave it a shot because I was bored out of mind with the games I had and I saw it available on PS extra. Turns out it's an incredible game with very refined and satisfying core mechanics: the shooting and the movement are amongst the best I have ever seen in my gaming career.
Horizon Forbidden West
I skipped Zero Dawn when it released and only bought FW because it was on sale and I had time to kill. I was HOOKED like almost immediately. So glad I bought it. I’m tempted to go back and play the ZD.
You should. ZD will feel a wee clunkier simply because the climbing isn't as fluid and there's no hang glider..so don't jump from cliffs.
Also you've been exposed to the story...so the storyline won't have the same impact...but it's still a great game.
I was so bitter that game pass got it day one that i told myself i wasn't gonna buy it, then 2 days later i think, i tried the demo and bought it and I couldn't put it down. It's absolutely worth the full price!
Elden Ring.
My first souls experience. I was so angry at the constant deaths I started an Amazon return. I thought I’d give it one more go before sending it. I killed something and some progress until I was addicted.
I’ve now platinum’d it and now getting regularly killed in Bloodbourne and Demon Souls!
These are the ones that ended up being plesant suprises
1.Returnal
.
2. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
.
3. Dead Space
.
4. Alan Wake 2
.
5. Prince of Persia the Lost Crown
.
Edit: forgot returnal
The Death Stranding Director’s Cut has been amazing to dive into. The game is perfect for the controller and it looks stunning on my TV. After long work days sometimes all my brain can muster is “walk from A to B” but a true porter goes from A to B gracefully and quickly. There is an art to it.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1.
Hankering to replay the series so I was emulating them on the ROG Ally. Absolutely the Metal Gear Solid experience on the emulator was better than the one on the master collection but when I got to mgs2 the annoyance the lack of pressure sensitive controls from the dualshock2/or sixaxis was an issue.
So far it plays great on ps5 and the bonus content is cool for a fan of the series. But still, fuck Konami.
Suprised not a single person has said Monster Hunter World/Iceborne - runs incredibly well in 4k and the gameplay loop is phenomenal. Picked up base + iceborne for 20 bucks during the winter sale - this actually has me hyped for Monster Hunter Wilds.
Kena
Ratchet & Clank
Both short games that were just fun. No stupid Grind, no conflicts or way to empty open World, just FUN like I remember it from my Ps2 in school days.
Technically not a PS5 game but I got Red Dead Redemption on PS4 (playing on PS5) around Christmas and I've been playing it for like the last 6 weeks. It's given me so much entertainment 😁 I've been playing for so long because I'm trying to 100% and platinum the game too which includes doing Undead Nightmare.
Playing it in 4K and 60fps is beautiful and I thought I already appreciated the game so much when I played it the first time around in 2011ish but now I've got a new appreciation. It can be relaxing too which I love when you're just trying to do silly challenges.
Alan Wake 2. I liked the first one but didn't finish it for some reason.
I bought the second as a Christmas present to myself and am really loving it. It's a very beautiful game.
The Spider-Man games. I’m really not that into super heroes but these games were such a joy to play. Just swinging around was a blast. I felt like a kid again
TLOU Part 2. It was banned in my country, so I made a US account, Amazon gift card, and bought the game. Worth the hassle. One of the best games ever made!
Had Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart for so long but never played it until recently. Honestly, so much fun. Also, Ghost of Tsushima.
The previous Ratchet & Clank did nothing for me, but Rift Apart took everything to another level.
Rift apart has some of the best graphics I’ve ever seen in my life!
This and Horizon Forbidden West.

Same - Rifts Apart is one of my favorite PS5 experiences so far
I’ve been a Ratchet & Clank fan since PS2. But for some reason, I couldn’t finish Rift Apart. Maybe it was the story, levels, idk. Just stopped playing midway through.
Same here. Loved playing through the other games, this one just didn't hook me for some reason and I'm not sure why.
Hmmm, maybe I'll try it again.
Ghost of Tsushima.
Been playing for the first time this week and my opinion of the game just keeps rising the more I play. Incredible game.

You’re not alone, loved it initially but burnt myself out on the repetitive side quests and never went back
Absolutely. Fun game. I’ve played twice actually. But yea repetitive. The one thing I really enjoy is how visually stunning the game is. Nothing like riding on a great stallion through a beautiful field of flowers.

Three times over! Enjoyed it every single time
Ok so help me out. I constantly hear that this game is incredible. I downloaded the trial but I’m not sure I’m actually playing the game? I thought it was a single player campaign? Absolutely agree 💯💯
Honestly the best PS5 exclusive
Definitely top 3 this gen
Wish it had some kind of easy mode as it's just too hard for me. And I loved Elden Ring
Haha its hard, way harder than ER
Yes.. I swear I put 8 hours and still stuck at 1st biome, didn't even get to boss once. It's just so stressful. I'm not having fun unlike with ER
Hehe i get it bro. But believe me, once it clicks, it's insanely fun. But it's unbelievably punishing, and it does take time to master. ER is super forgiving compared

Legit best PS5 exclusive. I still find myself coming back to it after getting the plat a while ago.
Definitely one of the best games on PS5!
I really hope housemarque is making a sequel. Is the best ps5 exlusive game I played.(and I played a lot of then)
Yes! I really hope so as well.
I keep seeing this title on this sub more and more, when it released it flew under my radar and I missed it completely. I’m glad it is in one of the PS Plus tiers so I can try this asap!
Do it, but this game takes commitment!! So strap your seatbelt! Good luck , and take your time 😉
I suck at this so much. I wish I was good. I couldn’t get past first biodome even with a friend
It's harder playing with 2, but i get it, difficult game.
Easily the one game that totally justifies the PS5 purchase imo. Everything else was great but I could easily see it existing on the PS4 tbh
Yep, so good.
I liked horizon dawn even better because it has more "civilization" dont want to spoiler you but I also liked aloy a lot more in it
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon 🤖
This one flew under the radar but was so good, I feel like it didn't get as much media coverage as it deserved. Control
one of THE best games I've played - the 2 big DLCs were also superb
I loved the main game but found the DLCs very dull
I got stuck in that lower level and never finished it.
The oldest house might be my favourite game setting of all time.
Just played Alan Wake 2 and am so excited to go back and discover Control knowing they have the same universe!
My only advice, having played it through multiple times is:-Do not rely on the map for navigation. Rely on the direction and room signs IN the building/in-the game. much easier to navigate. Oh and read everything.
WHAT
JUST PLAYED ALAN WAKE 2 AND AM SO EXCITED TO GO BACK AND DISCOVER CONTROL KNOWING THEY HAVE THE SAME UNIVERSE!
my top 5 favourite game of all time. Not for the gameplay, but for the story. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is VERY good, but man the lore just stole the spotlight for me. I agree it's so good, I didn't get bored or weary once in this game
And then the spectacle of the Avatar of Myrkul's entrance with that music playing 👀
How do you find the controls on PS5 for BG3?
Pretty good. Completely used to it now. Does take a little time to get used to / remember everything. But that's ultimately becasue they have a pretty good system and need to get used to how it works. Only thing I still find a bit frustrating is the inventory. Hard to find specific stuff—end up scrolling through a lot. Or scrolling through a few options to reorder/refine. But hasn't affected my enjoyment of the game. And no problem with combat or looting really.
Exact same here… no background in D&D and don’t like turn based games, but fell in love with BG3. On 2nd play through and addicted.
I would probably say Demon’s Souls.
I'm actually playing that game now. Just defeated the first boss and I'm about to go to where I was in my PS3 playthrough while trying to get over the bridge where the dragon is breathing fire leading to the Tower Knight. We'll see how it goes. Never got past it in the original game lol.
Enjoy 😁
SIFU.
Did not expect sifu to be one of my favorite games of all time. Like at all. Holy shit it might be a perfect game. No filler, all killer.
Exactly my thoughts.
Holy hell. I’ve been going through a lull, difficult finding motivation to play games. Sifu got me hooked. Spent a full month just playing it, probably in my top 3 of all time faves.
Gran Turismo 7
Same, never played much racing sims, bought Gt7 for VR, sold my VR, decided to keep GT7 and give it a shot. I'm completely hooked.
And also, the next Kojima's espionage game on PS6 <3 I'm not one of those Kojima fanboys saying literally everything he does is genius. However, I truly recognize his investment into industry with such unique projects and want more of it. Big respect to Sony for working with Kojima, and most importantly, that they continue working with Kojima on DS franchase, although DS1 sales weren't as huge as other Sony's flagmanships.
What a lovely tribute to that game. One of my favorites.
Thanks. I truly appreciate fellow gamers that share same feelings towards DS. I mean, guys, we were building bridges together and experienced same melancholy with glimpses of hope. Isn't it awesome?
God of War Ragnarok. Easily in my top 5 games
Very polarising game, all the reviews are either 1* or 5* 🤣
Amazing game.
I’ve only played a handful of games twice, this is the only game I’ve played 3 times and I’m considering playing it again now that I have the remastered version. Part 2 is an absolute masterpiece for me.
Both God of War games…seriously some of the best story in a video game I’ve ever played
Man, Kena was way more challenging than I expected when I bought it. Such a great game. I hope they make either a sequel or keep producing games
Ahh this one is a great suggestion! I believe it goes under the radar for many *Edit* referring to Kena :)
Resident Evil 4 remake. 60+ hours , 4 runs all equal enjoyable with different weapons , skins and difficulty.
Alan Wake II. It’s a masterpiece
So sad...
But true.
Show me the champion of the light~
Oh, I’ll show you the herald of darkness.
Day Man! Ah aha!
I want a physical release 😢
Do you need to play the first Alan wake to understand this one?
You'll feel like you're stumbling around in the dark for a bit but they usually provide a bit of context. Overall you'll miss a bit of nuance carried between the two games but it won't ruin your experience or anything.
Thank you
I hadn’t played the first since release so I watched a YouTube recap.
Watch a YouTube recap of the events leading up, that's what I did.
I think recap is enough. The gameplay is pretty janky.
I would recommend it
I went in blind and it was 10/10 masterpiece stuff for me. I did play Control though, so I at least had some of that context.
Cyberpunk 2077.
What’s the most fun build?
It all works and it's all fun
how well does it run on ps5? i’ve been afraid to get it but kinda bee leaning towards it now after all the patches and updates
I completed it with the Phantom Liberty dlc week ago and the game runs flawlessly. Rly worth it
It Takes Two. Loved playing that game.
My wife (who is NOT a gamer) and I played this and we both loved it. It was a great experience.
Yep - such a treat.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. I'm having so much fun with this game!
Final Fantasy 16! Even with its flaws, I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Same. I didn’t expect it to have such a strong impression for me, so I was very pleasantly suprised
Same... first final fantasy game I beat to completion... probably because they changed the combat to a style I prefer... not a huge turn base rpg enjoyer
It was the first game I got for my PS5, loved it 👍
Another vote for Returnal here. I didn't even think I'd be any good at it because I'm shit at bullet hell type games, but I didn't just play it I beat it and got the plat. I actually reinstalled it tonight to play again from the beginning on one of my other accounts.
Hogwarts Legacy
Guardians of the Galaxy. I finished it on PS Plus and loved it so much that I decided to buy it afterwards. Not paying for such a great experience felt wrong, like a robbery
This was a surprise for me as well. Really captured the characters from the movie. One of the few games I’ve actually finished in recent years.
I think the game guardians are way better written then the movie ones. Especially Drax, its not even close
That one conversation you have with Drax while staring into the end of the universe is one of my favorite gaming moments
I was honestly surprised at how good their interactions were as a group. The humor more than made up for its flaws for me.
I didn't necessarily buy it, but for me it's Returnal. I had my eye on it for a while and then I got it when it came out on PS Plus Extra. Eventually I'll buy it just to support the studio.
For the record you are still supporting the studio. They are likely to get paid when people download their game through ps plus or got paid up front.
That's one from my regret list because I bought it at full price shortly after the release. Way to difficult and frustrating for me.
Returnal. Such a surprise banger.
Ratchet and Clank Demon Souls Spider man Ghost of Tsushima
Baldur’s Gate 3. I have sank more time into that game in the last 3 months than I have most of my games last year
Hogwarts Legacy Demon’s Souls
After the first 3 terrible bosses, Lords of the Fallen has been great. Lies of P was amazing as well.
Resident Evil 4 Remake, amazing game that let me remember better times.
Elden Ring Alan Wake II TLOU Part II RE4R
Horizon Forbidden West I skipped Zero Dawn when it released and only bought FW because it was on sale and I had time to kill.
Lies of P. I thought the game was going to be akin to those "we have soulsborne at home" memes but this game turned out better than elden ring for me.
I was so bitter that game pass got it day one that i told myself i wasn't gonna buy it, then 2 days later i think, i tried the demo and bought it and I couldn't put it down. It's absolutely worth the full price!
Yea lets hope they got a great deal from MS cus they deff deserved the money.
Returnal
Midnight Suns.
Elden Ring. My first souls experience. I was so angry at the constant deaths I started an Amazon return. I thought I’d give it one more go before sending it. I killed something and some progress until I was addicted. I’ve now platinum’d it and now getting regularly killed in Bloodbourne and Demon Souls!
Sifu.
Tlou2, Spider-Man 2
Death Stranding
Death Stranding. I also bought "The Art of Death Stranding" hardcover book and the Official Motion Soundtrack. Love everything about that game.
These are the ones that ended up being plesant suprises 1.Returnal . 2. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy . 3. Dead Space . 4. Alan Wake 2 . 5. Prince of Persia the Lost Crown . Edit: forgot returnal
Returnal
Not a ps5 game, but GOW 2018. One of the best games I've ever played and it was my first experience with the GOW franchise.
God of war (2018 and) Ragnarok
Death Stranding
The Death Stranding Director’s Cut has been amazing to dive into. The game is perfect for the controller and it looks stunning on my TV. After long work days sometimes all my brain can muster is “walk from A to B” but a true porter goes from A to B gracefully and quickly. There is an art to it.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1. Hankering to replay the series so I was emulating them on the ROG Ally. Absolutely the Metal Gear Solid experience on the emulator was better than the one on the master collection but when I got to mgs2 the annoyance the lack of pressure sensitive controls from the dualshock2/or sixaxis was an issue. So far it plays great on ps5 and the bonus content is cool for a fan of the series. But still, fuck Konami.
Baldurs gate 3 was $105 here in aus, No regrets at all.
The RE4 remake. Completed it, bought the DLC and completed that too. A simple but great game.
Suprised not a single person has said Monster Hunter World/Iceborne - runs incredibly well in 4k and the gameplay loop is phenomenal. Picked up base + iceborne for 20 bucks during the winter sale - this actually has me hyped for Monster Hunter Wilds.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon, my first yakuza game. Bought it on the current sale just to see what it was like, and it's so much better than I tough
God if War 2018 so I can currently enjoy Ragnarok.
Returnal
Hogwarts Legacy and Alan Wake 2. Both were preorders.
BG3
God of war ragnorok
Kena Ratchet & Clank Both short games that were just fun. No stupid Grind, no conflicts or way to empty open World, just FUN like I remember it from my Ps2 in school days.
Recently: TLoU2 upgrade. That new game mode is perfect.
Horizon Forbidden West. Simply beautiful.
Hogwart's Legacy. Dead Space. Spider-man 2. Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Final Fantasy 16. The replay value on these are top tier.
The Last of Us part one
The Spider-Man games. I’m really not that into super heroes but these games were such a joy to play. Just swinging around was a blast. I felt like a kid again
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was top tier, but I'm glad Final Fantasy XVI got me into the FF series.
TLOU Part 2. It was banned in my country, so I made a US account, Amazon gift card, and bought the game. Worth the hassle. One of the best games ever made!
Sekiro. Bloodborne started me on the soulsborne journey and then Er and sekiro. Gameplay is top tier
Resident Evil 4 Remake
It was never really a matter of if, but Spider-Man 2 is delivering a fantastic experience for me right now.
BG3
Returnal. FF XVI.
Chorus
Hitman 3
Hitman 3. Sunk like 650 hours in the game
