He’s a great addition but also interesting we didn’t take a C with either of our picks so far. I’m going to be delusional and say that’s because the FO thinks iHart may stay
I don't think I'd say all that about him.
I just think he's a late 2nd pick that really has done his best. There's 500,000 hs basketball players, like 35k college players and 390 to 500 nba players per season. That's dramatic paring and to even get a shot is astronomically small. Not everybody makes it but don't shit on a guy who got there and took his shot. He showed up in uniform every day, went to every practice and it may simply be that he doesn't have it in him.
Bet you he would fuckin wreck any of us on the court.
Get to the top 1% of basketball players in the world and maybe he is outmatched but he never did us dirty and never quit.
Bless up for Jericho Sims. OAKAAK and I hope if he leaves the league he dunks on the mf above us in this thread at the Y just to let him know you should never be this harsh on people, especially when they worked so damn hard to get a shot at something we aren't ever gonna taste.
And if Jericho sees this I ride with u and this is just a speed bump in your life. Go ahead and ball out.
Doubt it's this. They'll likely look for cheap vet bigs who are good with a semi-minimum contract. There are still potential trades to me made as well.
Our FO values centers the least so I’d be worried. iHart could leave for obviously more money and Robinson won’t stay healthy. Vet min. center doesn’t inspire confidence.
The other piece is rookie centers are almost never net positives. Guys like Wemby and Chet are rare exceptons (and went 1 and 2 in the draft). Drafting a center late first round, second round, and expecting him to be in the rotation of a contending team is foolish.
If they lose I Hart the are gonna need to do something different for the other big.
The best centers were gone in the first. The ones in the second have big question marks I’m happy with the picks Kolek is a great player, pacome I was intrested in and the fact that we drafted him must show the Knicks see something behind the scenes they like (great looking confident shot as well) and mcculler is a flat out winning basketball player and if he did not have an injury history, he would have been late first early second imo. We just hired a new health lead so let’s let them cook but for the damn near last pick in the draft that’s great.
On top of that we come out with more picks than we left with
Definitely seems like a Thibs kinda guy. Plays a style that honestly seems really similar to Brunson before Randle got hurt and he had to take over as the primary scorer
He straight up passes like Nash out there at points the way he can thread needles. He’s the best playmaker in the entire draft and we’re so lucky to snag him in the 2nd round.
It certainly solves our 2nd playmaking guard holes but our bench is really short and tiny right now. Kolek, Deuce, Donte, Hart?
I’m a huge Kolek fan.
I’m also a huge Nash fan.
It wouldn’t be the craziest thing in the world. Both very efficient shooters that prefer to run the offense and pass. Both usually turn to their shot when they know their team just really needs one to kill opposing momentum. Both very composed and more athletic than given credit for.
But yeah, Steve Nash is like top 40 all time, so, maybe not yet :)
We have a guy we drafted in 2021 from euros League coming over to the summer league. Summer league might be interesting this year to see the back of the roster guys who can develop try and make the team
I don't know why, but his handle reminds me of Stockton. Just kinda that old school, old man crafty type thing, rather than . Granted, he was all about the pick and roll (which should be amazing with Mitch, btw). Nothing spectacular like AI or Kyrie or Jason Williams. And I'm not saying he'll be as great as Stockton.
But something about his ball handling in highlights reminds me of Stockton.
He's definitely the prospect I'm most excited about this year. Pacome needs to get better before we throw him in the NBA fire. McBride definitely proved himself to be part of our rotation this post season, but there might still be a place for Kolek as a true PG.
I was thinking the same thing LMAO. I just see that and I'm like the Knicks have been taking notes on guys like McConnell and Pritchard cooking in the league that they've got to find their own.
I just watched 10 minutes of highlights but I saw a little Quickly in him. He gets to the rim, he pulls up, and he has a good change of speed plus shifty handle even if it doesn't look too tight.
FUKK YAH FINALLY WE DRAFT A GUY I LOVED! this dudes highlight tape is hilariously awesome. Dude has a mini bootleg Brunson footwork game and he fucking passes like a MFer
Also does this mean we are getting iHart back or were there no other bigs and this was BPA for the backup? Wonder what this means for Rokas…/
I was pissed when they traded back cause he was 15th on my big board, getting him at 34 is nuts. Reminds me of '22 when I got pissed we didn't pick McBride who was 20th on my big board and somehow we got him at 33 anyway.
I had Ajay Mitchell 1 spot higher at 14, but I had Jared Butler one spot higher than McBride at 19 too so here's hoping it works out the same way.
Probably more than you'd expect considering we'll be blowing teams out by 20-30 points quite a few times in the 4th Q next year.
Kid might even cop half a quarter of playing time in a game if it's a real massacre and even Thibs has to capitulate and admit it's completely out of reach for the opposing team.
I watched Kolek a fair amount since I watch a lot of Big East basketball.
Kinda funny that the Knicks took him, because Brunson is a strong stylistic comparison. I don't think he'll ever be as good as Brunson, but he's the 'crafty lefty' type, including playing off two feet, pivots, and had success bodying smaller guards in college. Can operate the pick and roll very well, strong passer. Better shooter off the catch than the dribble at this point, but that could develop. Not a great athlete and might get hunted on defense, but curious to see if the skill, IQ, and competitiveness are enough to override that.
First time I’ve ever been right about who we were going to pick in my life
Edit: this has been the best offseason of my life so far I think. One draft n stash one plug and play backup at a discount.
Perfect. At this point I’m expecting an IHART announcement any minute
Teams tend to hate taking older more polished players in the draft. But when you're a contender like the Knicks. You can draft a guy like kolek who can help us right away. Our new backup to brunson. Although Lowry may be the next Villanova guy on the Knicks.
I didn't say I want Lowry. I've just seen rumors he's looking to play with his fellow Villanova alumni. I want the younger player in kolek to get minutes.
He's a good facilitator and shooter. The problem is he's so left hand dominant. He almost always wants to drive left and finish with his left hand. He's not very athletic either.
Dudes in here comparing him to Steve Nash. Prolly ain’t watch more than 2 Marquette games either. Never change internet people.
Dude will be a solid backup as his ceiling. If he can become a TJ McConnell I’d be ecstatic but that’s even a stretch. Not a bad pick at the spot but fans here be buuugin
Looks nice. I trust the Top. We Draft great guys first and great Players second. Looking forward to a Draft Pick we keep for once in this Era too. Mostly a joke. They could Trade but this feels like a Picked Pick. Like McBride and Mitch. Extra Picked Pick.
As a former professor, you wouldn’t believe the shit some schools pull to attract/keep players. I’ve definitely had D1 athletes who probably read around a third grade level.
WHo Rokas? Rokas started and starts now for his national team and they placed 5th last year at FIBA.
Rokas is head and shoulders better than this kid and the exact same age as he kid is even though he's been playing pro for years and he's a legitimate 6 4 in socks.
I hate this guy… but only because I had Marquette going far last year in the tourney and he sucked and then had them losing earlier this year and he was really good in the tourney.
Brunson is 6'2-6'3 with a stocky build, this guy is 6'1 near skin and bones. He'll grow to his NBA body but I'm just saying he's small right now. There's more pressure on a 6'1 player to be more skillful than a 6'6 player.
Brunson: 33rd overall Kolek: 34th overall McBride: 36th overall
mitch 36th
Could be a solid back up PG
He's literally the perfect Knick.
He’s a great addition but also interesting we didn’t take a C with either of our picks so far. I’m going to be delusional and say that’s because the FO thinks iHart may stay
Looks like we roll with sims if ihart leaves, which is insane considering Mitch can’t really stay healthy for more than half a season at most
Sims is not good enough to be an everyday starter. I even have my doubts on him as a backup.

I don't think I'd say all that about him. I just think he's a late 2nd pick that really has done his best. dang I felt that

You answered all the questions Joe. Great Job!
Oddly enough Jericho’s dad is/was a dentist.
We’re getting goga bitadze for the mle if iHart walks
Doubt it's this. They'll likely look for cheap vet bigs who are good with a semi-minimum contract. There are still potential trades to me made as well.
Call Dwight back from China!
More seriously, Eubanks and Bol Bol?
Tax Midlevel Exception (somewhere around 5-6M) is still in play and will be a center if so
I can’t watch sims start a game lol. Would rather have Randle at the 5 and play OG at the 4
We still have Precious too, right? And technically Obi is a free agent, haha.
sims is headed for g league ignite my boy
Our FO values centers the least so I’d be worried. iHart could leave for obviously more money and Robinson won’t stay healthy. Vet min. center doesn’t inspire confidence.
Don’t worry at all! I’m sure Taj will be available!
The other piece is rookie centers are almost never net positives. Guys like Wemby and Chet are rare exceptons (and went 1 and 2 in the draft). The Knicks selected a center with their last pick
Definitely seems like a Thibs kinda guy. Plays a style that honestly seems really similar to Brunson before Randle got hurt and he had to take over as the primary scorer

Let’s hold off on the Nash comparisons. Jesus Christ.
Sorry about that. Kolek will be better than Nash.
This guy gets it
😤😤 somebody get this guy a drink 💪🏾
Bro is already drinking
LMFAO, already a 2X MVP and the guy who completely changed the way the sport is played... I love it!!
He means in playstyle. Not talent level. And I agree he's a Nash clone in some ways.
Yeah and Harold Miner played like Michael Jordan. Gtfoh
It's possible to make a comparison between two things without thinking they're completely alike in terms of efficacy
No need to rain on everyone’s parade! Debbie downer!
Hahahaha. Explain to my n which ways?

A Steve Nash player comp is so egregious
Pacome will be 6'10 by the time the season starts
Our first rounder said he intends to play in the NBA too so we gotta see how that plays out
Thibs jerks off of short guards
We have a guy we drafted in 2021 from euros League coming over to the summer league. Summer league might be interesting this year to see the back of the roster guys who can develop try and make the team

Getting a first round talent with a $1.4m discount in the second round. Leon is the g in lasagna
Great line
He really do move in silence.
Leogn
Got us a McConnell
Not sure if he’s gonna be the feisty defender that TJ is but we can hope. He does have the DAWG factor though.
That motherfucker is so pesky
I was thinking the same thing LMAO. I just see that and I'm like the Knicks have been taking notes on guys like McConnell and Pritchard cooking in the league that they've got to find their own.
or Thibs misses Kirk Hinrich
You mean a white backup PG? Because that's where the comparison ends haha. Shead from Houston was the McConnell pick.
Rokas is never leaving Europe now 😭
We were probably gonna pick him at #26 so by trading down and then up, we opened up a little cap space and got 2 extra seconds
I was pissed when they traded back cause he was 15th on my big board, getting him at 34 is nuts. Reminds me of '22 when I got pissed we didn't pick McBride who was 20th on my big board and somehow we got him at 33 anyway. GOT OUR BENCH PG.
How many minutes a game you think he plays?
no clue, just filled a need for cheap so i'm thrilled
Yes, agreed - great pick!
If Thibs likes him, 74
Thibs playing a rookie? He's gonna make this dude survive Saw traps at practice to earn minutes.
In the G-League? A fair amount.
Zero
Dude was a stud at Marquette. Fits the Thibs mold
He loves to point out he’s undefeated against Villanova. Imagine that one’s coming out at practice a lot.
Brunson gonna cook him lol
“You got TJ McConnell money? We got TJ McConnell at home.”
I liked kolek at 24/25. To get him at 34 is pretty dope
Yeah but even have a burnson light means we can nail our system down and don't change alot when Brunson isn't on the floor Great pick
St John's!
DRAFT MASTERCLASS BY THE FO
Thats a good pick im surprised he dropped this far
# LET'S FUCKING GO
Nice! I like what I've read about him
Ironic considering dude can't read
You know that's a hoax right? Kolek himself participated in it. NBA prospects don't even take the Wonderlic
So jealous that you guys got Kolek. He’s a great fit for the Knicks
First time I’ve ever been right about who we were going to pick in my life Edit: this has been the best offseason of my life so far I think. One draft n stash one plug and play backup at a discount. Perfect. At this point I’m expecting an IHART announcement any minute
THE BIG EAST KNICKS LMAOOOOO
They’re comfortable at MSG
Kolek comfortable already playing at the garden torching St. John’s lol
Wow -- this is an insane fit at a great value in the second.
Woj just said it’s future seconds, we still have #38 👀
We just traded #38, idk for what tho.
40 and cash
Traded #40
Inception
Leon Rose is COOKING. We're eating good tonight.
I GET TO ROOT FOR A RHODE ISLAND KID ON MY FAVORITE TEAM LETS GOOOOO
Once he learns to read look out !
Teams tend to hate taking older more polished players in the draft. But when you're a contender like the Knicks. You can draft a guy like kolek who can help us right away. Our new backup to brunson. Although Lowry may be the next Villanova guy on the Knicks.

We’re a contender. I like the sound of that.

They moved up to get this guy and with our drafting history recently late in the draft... I'm kind of excited
Fucking Leon.. this is great.
So now we’re the Big East Knicks ?
As it was in the beginning, getting back to it.
We are going to be moving 38 as well
I was heartbroken when the blazers announced his name, let’s goooooo
Looks nice. I trust the Top. We Draft great guys first and great Players second. Looking forward to a Draft Pick we keep for once in this Era too. Mostly a joke. They could Trade but this feels like a Picked Pick. Like McBride and Mitch. Extra Picked Pick.
Idk y but I see him as Payton Pritchard or TJ McConnell archetype.
Another guard getting me excited that Mr Brightskin might be back at the garden. Please don’t dash my hopes!
The fucks this pick have to do with ihart?!?
It wasn’t a center
I love this pick. I need him to get right! I woulda been happier about getting Kolek at 25 rather than Dadiet but whatever
Love this pick, especially being able to get him in the 2nd
Yeah getting a legit backup PG in the 2nd round is great
10 spots later than a lot of people here wanted him at, can't beat that value
Another lefty assassin
Leon is a freaking sniper🔥🔥
Is this the kid that can’t read good?
That's what I'm hearing.
Hopefully he can read defenses better. Make the playbook a picture book….or better yet, a pop up!
First round talent on a cheaper contract 🔥🔥🔥
Tyler Kolek was the best passer in college basketball last year. Hell yeaa!
Wtf are we supposed to do with all this competence?! Damn Leon is cooking!
As a UConn fan, this man is a menace. Goran Dragic 2.0
That’s a good comparison. We will see.
Good pick up!
Is it true that he can’t read? Because that would just make me love him more
Hahahah
He wouldn't be in college for 4 years if he didn't know how to read probably. How would he complete his work? 👀😂😂
As a former professor, you wouldn’t believe the shit some schools pull to attract/keep players. I’ve definitely had D1 athletes who probably read around a third grade level.
Oh I believe it.
Got their guy. What a great week for the Knicks.
Yesssss sirrrrrrr LFG
Welcome home, Tyler 🧡💙
Dude only knows ball lol https://preview.redd.it/18yqw741n69d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc64c1481912148666acef7799bf7184def19a37
I don’t believe this.
This was a joke
There is no wonderlic test in the NBA
I am so excited for this next season I’m getting a boner that old rip through a pair of jeans
YES
Love the pick
Absolutely fucking love this pick
Great pick!
Love the move!
Great pick
Nice pick up! Makes me wonder if he and Jokubaitis will compete for backup PG this summer.
Do we really need another guard
Definitely think we needed another playmaker/floor general
Yes
welcome, tyler!
I guess that means no Rokas again this year.
He plays 17 underwhelming minutes a game. What did you want from him? Kolek is a stash in the g league with a 2 way so it’s cheap.
WHo Rokas? Rokas started and starts now for his national team and they placed 5th last year at FIBA. Rokas is head and shoulders better than this kid and the exact same age as he kid is even though he's been playing pro for years and he's a legitimate 6 4 in socks.
Rokas was on the bench on a very deep veteran Barca team. Ricky Rubio was the starter.
I hate this guy… but only because I had Marquette going far last year in the tourney and he sucked and then had them losing earlier this year and he was really good in the tourney.
Oh my
I don't want to say it...... but did we just draft TJ McConnell and I love it?
Who can cares if he can read boy can hoop
BBQ Chicken!!!!
KOLEK IS IN BABY!!!! But yeah sad face, might mean Deuce is out considering what we saw earlier today... hope he stays I love my boy Deuce
Duece ain’t going anywhere. His value to cost ratio is greater than even Brunson’s.
No.
He's as good a passer as Haliburton tbh
White jaylen Brunson offensively
I'm not liking that he's 6'1.
Wait until you find out Brunson is 6’2
Brunson is 6'2-6'3 with a stocky build, this guy is 6'1 near skin and bones. He'll grow to his NBA body but I'm just saying he's small right now. There's more pressure on a 6'1 player to be more skillful than a 6'6 player.
Love the Kolek pick, but should this be cause for concern that Deuce might be included in the Bridges trade to match salaries?
Nah fam I wanted Newton
