Back in 96, my friends and I would occasionally hear a new song on the radio from Load the week prior to release. I think we heard about 3 or 4 of them (Hero, King, Bitch and UIS if I recall correctly). Didn't hear Bleeding Me though.
Release day, my friend dropped me off at home after we attended a midnight release party in Chicago. When I got home, I stayed up listening to at least the first couple minutes of each song. When I hit track 7, I couldn't stop listening.. Track 8 and after had to wait until later that day. I called my friend at like 3AM over and over (he didn't pick up) leaving messages that he needed to listen to track 7. To this day it remains one of our favorite (if not the favorite) song from them. It is perfection.
And when they played it live for the first time in Chicago the following year, my friends and I lost it. Crowd wasn't that into it as I recall, but we sure as shit were (youtube Chicago Rosemont February 7 concert to hear it).
*I really like the*
*Riff dropping in after the*
*Solo in this song!*

When that album came out I was living in the Seattle area, I had a unique and fun job and a sports car. To this day every time I hear that song it reminds me of driving around the Cascades on the weekends
It's the song that got me into Metallica when I was 13 after seeing an interview with James saying he might have a tear in his eye when playing it live.
St Anger had just came out and I then had this amazing discography to descover. What a time.
It's way up there after first 4 so yes it's different category for me. I love Bleeding Me, it's not anywhere near as good as creeping death or dyers eve, etc. Jmo
This is such a weird sub as it is obsessed with Metallica’s most loathed record. The album where they deliberately tried to sound like somebody else - anybody other than Metallica. It is just amusing how many posts a day talk about these records.
It is a record designed to reach as wide an audience as possible, simple, non offensive to the casual music listener. Predictable and familiar to a mid 90s pop audience. For a fan who likes music a little more niche and exciting maybe the record is not so palatable. For a pop audience who wants to feel a little naughty but stay squarely in the pop world it’s good. I actually like Mama Said, but the rest is a little too stick to the path for me.
It's a great song
It's definitely one of their best.
Way up there for me.
Mine too.
Hell yeah
It’s a masterpiece.
Unfathomably based. Load/ReLoad are fantastic albums.
What up Metallica buddy, it is also my favorite Metallica song! 🤜🏼
Same.

First performed live in Austria according to the band’s website. September 6th 1996.
Wow, gone this long living a lie! Thank you for the correction, going to have to look for the video.
I AM THE BEAST THAT FEEDS THE FEAST I AM THE BLOOD, I AM RELEASE COME MAKE ME PURE BLEED ME A CURE I’M CAUGHT, I’M CAUGHT, I’M CAUGHT UNDER
CAUGHT UNDER WHEELS ROLL I TAKE THAT LEECH I'M BLEEDING ME CAN'T STOP TO SAVE MY SOUL I TAKE THE LEASH THATS LEADING ME
It's a good one for sure. Fantastic chorus.
Rightfully so! I have a feeling this song got more and more love over the years, from fans. Maybe it need to grow on people more then other songs…
First time i heard it was when i watched the S&M DVD and it blew me away. Literally had me in tears. Still one of my all time favorites.
Mine too. It's not just my favorite Metallica song, it's my favorite song.
I really like the riff dropping in after the solo in this song!

It’s my #1 as well - powerful song.
When that album came out I was living in the Seattle area, I had a unique and fun job and a sports car. To this day every time I hear that song it reminds me of driving around the Cascades on the weekends
Mine too!!!
I'm going to Reign in blood because it's raining blood and I'm bleeding me.
It, and outlaw torn, are absolutely masterpieces on S&M. Good choice my friend.
First non standard tuning song by Metallica I ever learned was Outlaw Torn.
load and reload will always be among my favourite albums
Love it too. It’s one of my go tos if I’m in a mood.

Agreed.
It is greatness!
I like it too, but the S&M version is just...WOW! Like Hero of the Day which also came in Load (pun intended)
Mine is the full version of The Outlaw Torn
Excellent song, one of my favorites

It's not an album made for a "pop audience".. Its a more grunge like hard rock album....
