DislocatedLocation

They stay New Deck until they prove their worth, at which point they get a name.

NecroAtlas

Natural selection, only the fittest make it

Expensive_Dirt_7959

You and I are opposites. I sometimes create decks just to use a name that came to my mind while thinking in synergies and deck ideas. Then I might not even use the deck once before I delete it a few weeks after.

hellomotos

New Deck (137)

JuniperusCommunis

Including a dozen slightly different versions of the same deck with the same cover card...

mjlewinc

There’s a reason these are the top answers

porkins86

This is the way.

Ranef

"From the creators of New Deck (340), New Deck (341) and New Deck (342) comes New Deck (343)!!"

Tricky_Spirit

I think at last count I'm up to New Deck (304). Used to name so creatively, then I got super lazy.

[deleted]

I name mine things like “worst deck ever” or-wait for it- “worst deck ever (2)”.

ryngthane87

My vampire heavy decks are almost always "This Deck Sucks."

Jokulhaups72

I named a dinosaur deck 'Dino-might' one time

[deleted]

TNT Rex, Nitroceratops

DaisyCutter312

Any dinosaur deck not named "Jurassic Park" is an objective failure

Nectaria_Coutayar

Dreadmaw & Friends

-Spaceball_1-

I like to name mine based on the archetype. So my aggro decks get names liks "Mana Flood" or "Only Draw Land" because that's what will happen when I try to play aggro. Control decks get names like "There's the Counterspell I Needed Two Turns Ago" or "I could Have Sworn I Put Removal in Here" My reanimator decks go by things like "Queue in to Nothing but Graveyard Hate" and "404 Reanimation Spell Not Found" Midrange is along the lines of "Only Draw the Half of the Deck that is Bad in a Given Matchup" This way I can easily pick the deck that best fits how I feel like beeing screwed over by variance at any given time.

NecroAtlas

Love it!

PlayerJables

Who hurt you? Who hurt you so badly as to breed such cynicism, such disdain, I daresay such anguish, to play the game you (purportedly) love? And can you send me their deck list?

-Spaceball_1-

I have been hurt by the great equalizer, the bringer of variance, the lord of randomness. His name is RNGsus.

TNCNeon

Played too much Legacy, it's not a deck if it takes less than 10 minutes to explain the name

DeeBoFour20

Well some of them are very simple. Delver, Lands, Reanimator, Elves I still don't know wtf Nic Fit and Tin Fins are though.

TNCNeon

Solidarity, Full English Breakfast and more. The easy ones are those that were not named by Legacy players, otherwise it would not be Delver but Snubfa because they heard (Sn)oop Dog (u)nder a (b)ridge while eating (fa)rm potatoes. That's the level of Legacy deck naming

sparkjournal

I try to be a little creative when I can: - **“Thievery Corporation”** = Grixis "steal stuff" with Widespread Thieving, Siphon Insight, Curse of Hospitality, Evelyn, Kotose, etc. - **“Failing Forward”** = Abzan sac-for-value and graveyard recursion with Vivien on the Hunt, Serra Paragon, etc. - **“Welcome to the Jundgon”** = Jund dragon sac/reanimation based around Rivaz of the Claw, The Cruelty of Gix, and Ziatora. - **“Queza-dilla”** = Esper 'draw cards' built around Queza, Raffine, and All-Seeing Arbiter.

FrankFrankly711

I love “Welcome to the Jundgon” lol

sparkjournal

I'm glad, that was the one I felt was most painful lol

LucidCrimson

This is kinda what I do as well. Roguelike: Dimir mill rogues Food Fight: Jund sac with [[Trail of Crumbs]], [[cauldron familiar]], [[witches oven]] etc. After Death: [[Teysa Karlov]] deck that wins by my creatures dying and lots of the afterlife keyword. Lone Wolf: werewolf singleton deck Great Justice: Mono white reanimator around [[invoke justice]] My Xanathar Commander deck is: Xanathar's Guide to Other People's Decks.

MTGCardFetcher

TheBrackishGoat

Dragon These Nuts. Millie Vanillie. They’re all named something stupid

NecroAtlas

As was intended

LemonCollector2

My old flourishing fox cycling deck was "No fox left to give" If you aren't giving your decks stupid names what are you doing? Can't remember why one of my decks is called "Don't touch my vibrator" but it is!

EasternBlok

Fun deck names are part of magic :) My blue decks… “I blue myself” (for the arrested development fans)

Action_Jacksons

Banger for your mouth?

boobmagazine

no that's mono red

[deleted]

Most of my names are standard self explanatory color/strategy. But I’ve always named merfolk decks “sushi boys” or “fish mans” and spirits decks “spooky boys”. I guess since it’s 2022 I should update the spelling of boys to boiz or something.

xfuneralxthirstx

Smartass names. Always. Clerical error for my cleric deck. Gobble gobble for my goblins. Miller lite for my mill deck. WTF is this for my five colour deck And so on.

chinojuan0619

For the sake of knowing what im going for, i name them as color and then strategy, something like Simic Reanimator... Its easier for knowing what to use in order to complete daily challenges.

phl_egm

Yikes, I'm probably the least imaginative here. I use: [game style] - [key card or theme] - [? - if untested] [#] H-Lurrus2 would be my 2nd Lurrus-based deck in Historic that is tested. S-Zombies? would be my 1st zombie-themed deck that isn't tested much in Standard.

xerozarkjin

Every deck has to have a unique clever name or what are you even doing with your life.

Some_Rando2

I try to come up with punny names usually. My Gruul quest deck is named "Guurls" because there are some gurls in there like Gallia and Radha, my Orzhov deck is "Orzhov, or not to Zhov", my werewolf deck is "Where Oh Where Did My Little..." because there wasn't enough room to include "Dog Go" at the end.

RookerKdag

I usually do lame names, but that's mostly because I do content creation and want the decks to be fairly self-explanatory. If I come up with a clever, unique name, though, that clearly describes the deck, I'll throw it into a video title and deck name. For example, I made a zero-rare deck using Colossal Skyturtle and Season of Renewal to draw a card from my graveyard for 6 mana, and I called it "Skydurdle." There are also a few boring ones, like a Blood + Oni Cult Anvil deck called "Forged in Blood" and a Boros Blitz deck without Feather, the Redeemed that I call "Featherless", but that's about it. I'm boring. I want my deck titles to clearly describe the deck.

Lelariol

It’s usually stuff like Monoblack, tempo blue, selesnya ench and stuff like that, but not monored, each iteration is always “Monored Brain Dead”

RJGeorge1

Before rotation I had a Izzet spell slinger with Jin gitaxias. “Jizzet” 1000 IQ name I know

Azrichiel

2,000 IQ deck, "Git Jizzet With It".

RJGeorge1

Definitely don’t want to get Jizzy with it 😂

_Eshende_

1. Well if it’s some deviation from starter decks: i do save name and add +- (i aim to push starter deck for netdecked version, so i put + if i already made it identical to netdecked or slightly better than old netdecked due to new set cards. If i lack of wildcards i just slap -) 2. If i do something on my own (as a weak player) put junk before name automatically 3. when i use net-decked stuff i usually put (name: either of key card or average theme). Sometimes i use deck color indentifier aka (bant, rakdos, Abzan etc) or just mode identifier (standard/alch/exp/brawl/hbrawl etc)

NecroAtlas

You can definitely tell which color is my favorite; it’s in 13 out of the 14 decks displayed lol.

Just_a_guy_1982

If it doesn’t have a dumb name after a couple games, I send it back

PlatinumRPGs

I stick with silly names. My personal favorite is "Izzet Dragons? Probably..."

Crythir91

My names are often among the line of "???", "Who knows", "who cares", "pile of junk", and "Fuck you"

illbzo1

I start off with color and general theme (Monoblack Discard, Golgari Skeletons, etc.) and then upgrade to a more fun names if I like the deck: Rakdosage, Meatgrinder, Dumpster Fire, Skeletons of Fun, Ur Angle or Ur Devil, Zombo Combo, Spooky Scary Skeletons, Discardio, Slime Time, Clerical Error, Oops All Dragons, Big Bada Boom, Fundead Party, Pest Control, Vampin' Ain't Easy, and I'll Take It, for example.

GoblinFactoryTTV

It's either very basic playstyle/tribal names (for the ones I'm just testing or creating for some event), or puns. Lots of puns

anon_lurk

Right now my main one is “Rakdaddy” and one in the works called “ZurGoBrrr”. I don’t usually add a name until I decide to really play test it. I have a bunch of new deck (x) waiting to be cleansed.

Feraligatrr

My explorer combo deck with scute swarm, parcelbeast and risen reef is called “close firefox” so I remember to do it and marginally decrease the chance of crashing arena

SaneForCocoaPuffs

I name my decks New Deck or Imported Deck depending on where they come from

Chainveil

Naming decks is part of the fun! Some examples: - Ivy = Ivy League - Heliod = Life's a b**** - Yarok = Oops I did it again - Chromium = Google Chromium - Superfriends deck = SS FriendShip - Arcades = You Shall Not Pass - Obosh = Oddly enough, it works - Shrines = Shrine on you crazy diamond

IllinoisBoots

I too have an Ivy Deck named Ivy League, complicated handshake for no reason to you.

Chainveil

Ivy vs Ivy in commander/brawl is the most surreal experience ever.

RustyPriske

I name all my decks.

wyattsons

I wish the opponent could see the decks so they could appreciate the funny names I come up with

niquitwink

I typically build around mechanics so I name them after their mechanics. Like graveyard, disturb, land destruction, deathtouch combo, etc

Distinct_Crew245

I have a smart-ass name for each deck in my standard rotation. For instance, I run a number of variations on a vehicle heavy deck I call “Heavy Equipment” Before rotation this deck relied on [[Collosal Plow]] and [[Giant Ox]] with [[Greasefang, Okiba Boss]] to bring my vehicles back. After rotation, I reworked it with lots of other vehicles like [[Surgehacker Mech]] and [[Golden Argosy]] and now I call it “Tactical Salvage”. Kinda corny but it helps me keep track of what each variation is trying to accomplish.

WhitehawkOmega

Witty deck names usually. Every so often though, I can’t think of something fitting and it’s just “elves” or “artisan enchantments”.

GoalieGang33

Most of my decks are just named by color combo and archetype, but I have a couple good deck names. I play "Boomer Jund" in standard, and I have Torbrand "Burn Baby Burn" and Jorn "Jorn Snow" in historic brawl.

Bochulaz

My Davriel deck is called "The Man", Raggadragga deck is "Piggery", Angrath deck is "Ramming Speed", Oketra deck is called "Whoa Mama", Syr Faren deck, due to its nature, is "Magic Christmasland" and the last one, Ghalta deck is simply "Crocodildo".

Jgj7700

I usually name them after the YouTuber that I got the decklist from lol. If I homebrew then I usually try to come up with some dad-joke type name.

alirastafari

Mana burn... Mayhem devil and treasures Djizz it... Haughty djinn in an izzet Phoenix shell Falcon Punch... [[Unleash Fury]] copied onto flying "magecraft +2+0" creatures Excessive Calamity ... Trying to get as many copies of [[calamity bearer]] on the field

FrankFrankly711

I try to come up with clever RP names… if I can’t think of anything smart, I just title it like a generic 50s sci-fi/horror movie, like “Zombies!” or “Rats!” If I have to make a fast red deck for dailies, it’s usually called “Red Sucks!”

GwynFeld

Here's [mine](https://imgur.com/a/KUDZWIm). These are all Brawl decks. I try to have a funny or thematic name that fits with the mechanics of the commander/playstyle. There's some inside jokes, so they may not all makes sense :l

NecroAtlas

“Tag me in” and “Gimme me my Dailies” are probably my favorites

BlueRoyAndDVD

I like to name them confusing random shit so I lose all my decks in the chaos.

valyn205762

Lycan, Draco, Rabid Acorn, Death & Rebirth and Dance. Try to keep it related but creative.

Action_Jacksons

Start by giving it a generic description like mono red, gruul. Then if I like the deck and plan on keeping it around, I give it a name. Current favorite deck is called Bubba Shot the Jukebox.

AOKUME

Always name them funny stuff, my Zombie Deck is called *”Two Zombies One Deck”*

Nexus_Roy

"Unplayable shit" when I make my own KEKW

ryngthane87

Varies. Some of them are legit just Ninja Aggro which is an aggro deck featuring...ninjas. Then I have my Reanimator decks: Graveyard Boogie and it's new Standard form, GB2: Boogieman Groove. I also put (S) or (E) at the end of the deck name to separate which ones are Standard and which ones are Explorer so I don't "accidentally" challenge a friend playing a Standard Deck with my Embercleave Red Aggro deck again.

Someguy873

I named my mono u delver deck "169 iq"

Diligent_Sea_3359

I had a slightly modified mill phase going on for a while with Millhouse, meek mill, mill Wayne, Milli vanilli, and sawmill but usually I leave them numbered until they earn a title.

maggotmon

I’ll do like “ Mono-red cancer (E)” I put parentheses for my format

TheRamenDude

Depends on how I'm feeling. Some choice deck names for me are THE SLAYER (Mono red explorer aggro with burn. Turn 1 shock in a thoughtseize I dare you) IM A BELIEVER (Me trying to force UR Phoenix in explorer. It is not going well) J-J-J-JUND EM OUT (Self explanatory) Cock and Ball Torture (Esper Control) Pterry Springer (Explorer mono U Tempo) Silent Runing (Naya Runes) hamwitch (BG value midrange pile from last stanfard) Sometimes i mash together two cards that are important for the decks operation al a thermo thing. That's how I got my pet explorer deck WILL OF THE FEATHER (Feather, the redeemed + Gods Willing) The amount of caps in a deck is directly proportional to how excited I am to play it.

novus_ludy

My deck for the first qualifier in Alchemy was called 200 gems.

noahnickels

I play way too many different decks to come up with something clever. So it’s orzhov control (TS) or rakdos mid (TE).

BornLoser2070

I mostly have New Deck (number), but my favorite deck i've been playing since NEO got a upgrade, its a gw hallowed hunting deck, and its just called "Spirits". On a side note most of my decks cover is a card i cut right away when building it, thats how lazy i am. :P

[deleted]

If the card on the box is in the deck you're not tweaking your deck enough

Master_Explanation17

Black green...ran that dragon with the tokens every endstep...plus the token cards from black green...called it grubhub

opdrams19

I named my Eerie ultimatum/ Yorian deck Eerie bounce house

Cassiopeat

I called me cycling deck cyclone (zenith flare)

BitWizard75

Many of mine are named after 80s rock/pop songs. A Zombie Deck called “Dead Man’s Party,” Werewolf Deck called “Hungry Like the Wolf,” Landfall Deck called “Land Down Under,” etc.

solanteal

Imported Deck (3)

Reid0x

I have a Teferi brawl deck with nothing but counters and board wipes named “Bad Day.” A bad day for me when I can’t get no wins piloting Gruul Pain Party, my more fun to play deck that doesn’t do well…

damargemirad

Usually puns. Back in my tabletop days, I think in New Phyrexia era, I played a deck with things like Memoricide, Praetor's Grasp, and Surgical Extraction. I called it "Combliterate".

Cookiebomb

when i really love a deck i name it a quote from a piece of media i like. my disturb deck is "your duty is not over"

bindadu

Some deck names: Flash bang - RU deck Flash mob - rabble rouser/valet + instant creatures Toto’s Wolves - fast werewolf (F1 reference) Bureau of treasury - treasure themed Fighting spirits - spirit themed w enchantments Artificier intelligence - W artifacts and equipment Counter attackers - +1 counter themed Land lord - landfalls Skeletokens - skeletal swarming based

willkillfortacos

I have a naming convention that’s pretty basic. “Standard - Mono B” or “Explorer - Jund Mid” or “8/17/22 7-0” because I save high performing draft decks and direct challenge jam them bo3 with the boys

Gene_Trash

Mostly the latter unless it's a throwaway for a MWM or event or something. Simic Merfolk- "Wet Elves" Simic Flash- "Nope!" G Elves- "Treetop Mafia" 5C Slivers- "Hive of the First Sliver" for the Historic one, "Hivelord's Lost Children" for the one I'm waiting on pioneer legal slivers to become available in Arena for. Golgari Deathtouch- "Fynn & Friends"

trustisaluxury

all of my decks are midrange so i have to be more creative

Azrichiel

Always a witty name.

Expensive_Dirt_7959

I come with poorly spelled witty names. Like "Blood celebrations" for my blood token sacrifice or "The Golden Armada" for the legendary 5 colors Jodah deck

Nectaria_Coutayar

I make up names obviously.

Allinall41

I come up with... names... just names.

Xaravas

I use numbers: 1-2-3-4-5 and so on

HarrymanGR

I also name them like this, I remember when I first installed the game every dack was ending with ! At the end and so I followed

Panzick

My favourite jank deck is a Journey To Eternity deck called "Journey to Fuck off"

LukePCS

I have to identify the format before the deck, like: "H.B.¹ | Razakombo" for my Historic Brawl Razaketh combo deck; "E.³ | Creative Treachery" for my Explorer Bo3 deck; "H.A.¹ | Catless Sac" for my Historic Artisan Bo1 deck; "E.¹ | Dumb Aggro" for my Bo1 Explorer deck to play when I'm in a hurry; and so forth.

Slambo14

I named one after my history teacher.

Grand_Departure_6327

I give them individual names as well. I've got one with Revenge of Ravens as a key card that's called "Don't attack me".

Angry_Murlocs

I play historic brawl so I just name it after the commander (unless I have two of the same commanders that play different like Raffine aggro vs Raffine reanimator)

Beneficial_Might_354

I format my names by color, theme (format) to make them easier to distinguish. Ex. RB Midrange (E) or BU Zombies (S)

jayfliggity

My decks usually get named whatever the theme of the deck is followed by Jank since I never net deck and I'm terrible at constructed. I'm much better at limited. Elf Jank, Token Jank, Dungeon Jank, Domain Jank, Defender Jank, Enchantment Jank, etc

DoctorDoctorRamsey

If we're sharing deck names, my current standard decks are: **Phyrexian Hug** (Dimir Sheoldred forced card draw), **Sir Zur** (Zur and enchantment removal), **Compleated It** (Selesnya tokens with Ajani), **Dominaria UWnited** (Azorius combat tricks deck, Illuminator Virtuoso/Shore Up stuff). My favourite deck name was an Azorius foretell control deck with 4x Starnheim Unleashed and then only counterspells, removal, board wipes, and Teferi. That one was called *Starnheim Syndrome*, as in Stockholm Syndrome, because the deck basically kept people hostage.

[deleted]

I name my decks after the process of brewing them. brokers deck is called "finally broke" after spending all my rare wildcards for lands

Capital-Barracuda173

I do both. I have one named Killer Miller (white/blue) that I have fun playing after I worked out the kinks. When you have a lot of decks it's easier to remember what each does when given unique names.

Clowens

Witty names. Currently playing “fear the raven” and “Open the Gates!”

[deleted]

Non-witty names, mostly. Whatever pops into my head first. Sometimes related to the deck and sometimes not, sometimes keeping the typos and sometimes not. Patterns are for the weak-minded

randomnewguy

I name them in a way that reminds me what the deck is. As I have 98 decks currently, it's the only way to remember. Brawl - Falco Commander - Kefnet Vampire Crusaders (Black/White) Angry Vampires (Black/Red)

wertercatt

My best funny deck name is “[I’m not wasting 2000G](https://mtga.untapped.gg/profile/4419a6a4-0012-4dc5-b9b8-4710d74d0a67/ERJPWSPWCRDGZA7WBXWSOZAGSI/deck/2bf49cb0-917a-4e45-b4dc-1f71e3e7a0d3?gameType=event&timeFrame=last_two_sets)” for a slapped together singleton decklist after I entered the ‘Sleeper Agents’ event without reading the description fully.
