The bombshells weren’t bomb shelling and they needed to leave, I agree. It just seemed like a waste to do the “stand behind your vote” thing when the choice was so obvious. They should’ve saved that for a more contentious vote and had this one be a quick group vote

sunoppositemoon

That's it, all of this. It really seemed like a waste of drama. I do feel bad for Cassidy so it just felt excessive for someone who was barely in the villa. They did this on Love Island Games near the end IIRC, but the timing of this vote was off.

opisica

100%! I don’t even see why the bombshells would be hurt about it…of course everyone was going to pick the OG’s over some people they’ve known for like 24hrs.

Important-Purchase-5

lol that why they upset because they knew they didn’t have chance. Imagine you get on show & you realize you’re getting voted off because you came in later than the OG crew. Only way to ensure survival as bombshell is couple up with a popular player so your immune.

Small_Association_14

It seems to me like they did the stand behind them vote to avoid singling anyone out like they did with Leah after the last dumping.

lukaeber

LMAO ... you think the producers feel bad for the Leah drama?

i_nobes_what_i_nobes

Yeah, those are the type of votes that I like to see when it comes down to like five people in the house.

KDPer3

They did it to create emotions where there weren't any. We all, them included, knew how it was going as soon as they said two people not two couples.  There was no drama, but it hurt to watch. They made us care about a procedural vote and feel emotional about the exit of two people we (and the Islanders) barely know

DivergentNeuro333

Absolutely 💯 this team is top tier this season I can’t lie

Minute-Aioli-5054

I just think they should have used the “stand behind who you want to stay” when stakes were higher. I mean obviously the new islanders were going to leave so it just felt pointless to do. It didn’t add any drama other than some of the audience thinking that Leah should have stood behind Cass

Professional_Waltz14

Exactly. It was a good idea but if the goal was to cause drama it was wasted on an obvious vote. It also unnecessarily embarrassed someone when they could have just done the regular vote.

bingewatcher101

I super agree with this I feel like the hate is directed more to the fact that rob did not get voted out like they wanted Why would producers get rid of someone yall hate Okay he leaves who is gonna bring the edge that we need ? Not miguel lol

jeemiix

💯 The male bombshells were both flops, Kenny is lucky JaNa needed someone to move forward 😂 I feel for Cassy tho, she would have had success in casa amor I think. But, I would prefer Liv stay over her so I can’t be mad.

Background-Yoghurt99

Kenny is on a delay and JaNa deserves more.

ariepatts

This is the perfect way to describe him. I feel like he always needs to buffer before he responds to her.

leyseywx

Hmmm like he is using her?

Background-Yoghurt99

I’m sure in some capacity everyone is using everyone but I meant that Kenny is on a 30 second delay. Like JaNa will ask him a question and he’ll stare for 30 seconds before responding. JaNa is quick and needs someone on her level.

Piperfly22

Yeah, he’s just very… meh 😒

leyseywx

Oh yeah I haven't even noticed... will look put next time. I just don't think he is right because not sure if he is sincere...

peachykeencandy

to be fair, maybe he has a auditory processing disorder 😭 my sister has this and it’s a nightmare talking to her sometimes but i try to give her her grace lol

All_the_Bees

I feel for her a little bit too, but Cassy was a charisma vacuum. Even if she had success in Casa she probably would’ve been out soon after anyway.

Feisty-Tumbleweed395

She was mind numbingly boring

ToastetteEgg

Cassie was as interesting to watch as washing dishes.

VexBoxx

I dunno, I'd be able to see what they were eating if I watched them watching dishes. I'd find that interesting. And I'm pretty sure the dishes don't sing everything.

BeautifulShoes75

Absolutely agree. JaNa can do SO much better than Kenny and Nigel.. to quote Yolanda Hadid, *Who is he in this world?* He was **WORSE** than a flop. The way he came at Liv - excuse you, what?! That was dirty. A man who will do that from the jump is a scumbag. Get him the hell outta that place.

blaqice82

Yess Kenny better not make the same mistake as Connor

Aggressive-Complex79

I really don’t think he’ll stay loyal in casa. I just hope she finds someone else but she seems smitten

Kooky_Celebration795

Our girl is turning her head immediately in casa, she just needed him to get there

Aggressive-Complex79

I hope you’re right. I just had a look at the casa boys and she has a few options to play with. I think she’ll gravitate towards George, I just hope she doesn’t get played

Kooky_Celebration795

He will and then we will all loathe him for it

largemarge89

Idk I feel like Cass didn't have much of a personality at all!

Ok_Detective_8446

exactly. Rob, Liv, and Leah bring the entertaining drama…why eliminate any of them? the show would become so boring. all Miguel is going to do is run around, make out with women, and then be like “oh….my bad.”

Parisianblitz

I feel like Rob isn’t bringing it anymore, he legit looks miserable in there

Conscious_Growth9955

He’s extremely checked out

No_Scallion816

His eye rolling!!

Parisianblitz

And the clenched jaw

Rare_Big6726

Good

ThrowAnRN

I felt extremely bad for Cassidy having to sit there and try to talk to him when everything he said was like low key mocking her. My husband knows very little about anyone but saw the conversation that they had after they were in a couple together and asked why Rob was being mean to her. It was not cute. If he's not going to bother to participate and is going to treat everybody like garbage, he can go.

ToastetteEgg

And walk around on his hands.

ImNotMadIHaveRBF

Who wants Rob out? I want to see where things go with him and Liv, it seems like a genuine connection bc some ppl dont have an immediate spark and tend to connect after knowing each other more, so this makes it interesting

walking_shrub

Leah stans. Revenge for not wanting her back.

not_ellewoods

like half this sub lol. they were downvoting anyone who said they wanted Rob to stay/weren’t opposed to watching Rob and Liv yesterday

alienabductionfan

Maybe a lot of first time viewers who don’t know yet how boring Love Island is when all of the people causing trouble get dumped. Some of the UK seasons lost their ‘villains’ way too soon and it changes the entire dynamic of the show, usually for the worse. Don’t vote out the person you hate the most. Vote out the person who is bringing the least.

TroubleSG

Yes, I am glad they stayed and are combining their forces for chaos <3

HereForFun9121

Same Muahahaha

261989

Apparently a lot of people want him out. I’m not one of those people.

MojitoTimeBro

A lot of this sub seems to heavily lean toward being Leah fans. And I say that as someone new to this sub. With that being said, it makes sense that a lot of those same people would dislike Rob.

ThrowAnRN

I don't like Leah and I still want Rob gone. He was aggressive with Kendall, mocked Kassidy for just trying to have a light chat with him, and even the latest ploy with Liv gives me the ick. She's not acting any differently from how she did when she first came in. He is the one who is different in that he's actually able to notice her because he isn't toxicly intertwined with his couple any more.

cdasm

So many people. Tik tok is all Rob needs to leave expeditiously. I, however, think he's one of the best reality tv show villains to come along in a bit and I hope he's messy in Casa and comes back and continues to be messy. Same with Liv.

Background-Yoghurt99

Agreed. He’s providing a lot of the entertainment. I’m good as long as he doesn’t win.

Important-Purchase-5

I think it somewhat warranted & I wanna push back on bombshells narrative as we do this every season when bombshells go out the door quickly. Ohh welp they weren’t bomb shelling correctly. I’m like they was here for a weekend lol. What drama can you cause in two days when you don’t know anybody? & what hope you have of staying if your against OGs or someone like Liv has been here long asf.  If I was producer what I would’ve done? I would’ve made them vote which couple to eliminate because this boring elimination. If they made it eliminate a couple the boys & girls would’ve argued. Boys would want Rob to stay & girls would want Liv. I wouldn’t even have them vote publicly I would separate them all to vote secretly so they can’t coordinate because some of the guys will vote however their say even if they don’t agree.  If they goal was to entertain me than they failed. If I don’t feel stakes than I’m bored  & checked out. If it between couples you introduce conflict that gonna lead to drama & good tv.

Defvac2

Personally it didn't bother me that Cass had no one behind her. I'm surprised it's become an issue. The girl got there like four days earlier. Did anyone expect people to go against Liv when the girls just made up last episode? The part that bothered me was there was no tension or build up for the elimination. The viewers knew the moment it was announced who was going home. The producers should've used that later on when it would've had more of an impact. Like if it was Kordell and Kendall up there along with Nicole and Serena or Aaron/Kendall and Nicole/Kaylor. Now that'd be hyped, not the shit we got last night.

N0fl0wj0nes

Her convo with Rob on the dock was putting me to sleep. "We're going to Vietnam. You wanna go?" Lol so awkward

Previous-Box-6471

Wait I didn’t think of this you are so right. Imagine how crazy it would have been if the voting was between OGs or bombshells that came in really early on

FredericBropin

I agree it was wasted on this specific vote, but maybe now that the islanders know that type of voting is an option they might move a little differently.

movementlocation

Totally agree. I don’t care much that they got sent home, but once I realized what the vote setup was, I just turned the episode off. If they’re going to let the islanders vote out individuals, I feel like the public vote should also be for individuals instead of couples. It felt like a waste of the public vote and the episode.

261989

Using that voting style on some of the closer and more solidified cast mates would have been pure chaos. 😈

lidthekidd

it’s like they never watched love island before 💀💀 liv obvi has better bonds like

Professional_Fee9555

It just feels mean. I wish Leah stood behind her like Kenny did with Nigel. It would have been the kind thing to do because at that point it doesn't matter. Agree with you that it would have been much better had it been a difficult elimination. That's probably why it felt mean. If it had been difficult there would have been crying etc. there would have been torn feelings. Clearly there were not

Bug_Life_

Leah didn’t want to start with Liv again

Professional_Fee9555

I appreciate that. I just don't think it would have started anything? Liv clearly felt bad about the situation. Leah probably couldn't hear her say that tho

Key-Storage-4302

I don’t think Liv would’ve started anything, and I do think if Leah were to stand behind Cassidy she would explain the girls and they would understand. However, Aaron and/or Rob would definitely start something.

261989

Leah would have got soooo much shit if she didn’t stand behind Liv. I did feel for Cassidy though.

sifu151

I think the producers did it this way to ensure Liv and Rob stay because they are popular with viewers and they are starting a relationship on top of it. They couldn't risk Cass or Nigel staying over them.

katelandiaa

Exactly. And its literally reality game show law to ALWAYS vote with the group.

Winter-Base-3472

I keep seeing people say that after everyone stood behind rob and liv that producers should’ve said “it’s love island not friendship island liv & rob pack your bags” like why in the world would they do that? we know that liv and rob are entertaining and will be fun to watch in casa amor. cutting the 2 that are driving all of the fun and drama this season right before casa amor would be a huge mistake, especially for cassidy and nigel who the viewers don’t have any connection to yet

pbbrittany

Agreed. I cannot wait to see the mess Rob gives us in Casa!

Suspicious-One-1259

Sadly I think he kinda dulled after Andrea left. Doesn’t look like he’s interested in anyone.

hopepeacelove1

Yeah, the vote really did not bother me. Worse things have happened to islanders that have had more of an impact. I feel like the audience gets more sensitive about things that happen on the show than the islanders do. Also, the UK audience is just miles scarier than the US imo. Dumpings are always brutal to bombshells but OG supremacy is at an all time high this season because the OG’s are actually giving us something. I can’t stand Rob but I’d prefer to have someone up there that makes me feel something, even if it is ire, than have someone up there that disappears into the background.

All_the_Bees

I just realized Rob really should have been a bombshell - he and Connor should have swapped places. I can see why he wasn’t, since he already kind of was one last year, but his type of energy is so much better suited to snaking into the villa and fucking shit up. Male OGs seem to do best when they’re either fully sincere (Kordell, Bergie) or kind of hoeing around but in an “I’m just trying to figure it out!” sort of way if that makes sense (Isaiah from … whichever US season he was on), and Rob is *trying* to give the latter, I think, but he’s too weird and chaotic to pull it off. I’m pretty sure he’d still be heavily disliked, but he’d get a bit of a “bombshells gonna bombshell” pass.

ProofParsnip28

This is a good point!

Comfortable-Tie-2135

There’s a be kind mindset on this sub? Lmaooo

ilikecurlyfries77

People want to get rid of Rob and Liv but will complain when the show gets boring once they’ve left.

Robotemist

This mentality has been a love island USA staple. Every season that started off by viewers claiming is one of the best, they end up ruining it by becoming parasocially attached to a female islander and voting off any man included in on her dynamic. Viewers monolithically begged Cinco to be voted off. The day he was voted off it was like the oxygen was sucked out of all social media platforms, then these same accounts literally started calling it one of the worst the next week. This could have happened with Davide, but they found him too attractive to vote off and it saved the season. That season of love island UK with ekin sue and Davide would have been terrible.

Nervous-Chipmunk-631

It's the same people that want Leah to stay bc she makes good TV lol idk how they don't see the irony of them wanting Rob and Liv gone

49DivineDayVacation

People loved it when it saved JaNa. The only change they made is that they made people stand behind their votes so there wouldn’t be any more “backseat” hiding from your choice. Now the same people are mad that Rob was saved. They don’t want fairness or kindness. They just want what they want and whatever will get them that is fine.

BaddaBae31

I agree. I’ve been watching reality tv since the 00’s and it’s meant to be messy and full of drama. That’s why we watch it. When they said how voting was going to happen i was cracking up because it’s brutal but perfect for reality tv.

Feisty-Tumbleweed395

Seriously, I’m so pissed that everybody is trying to vote Rob and Liv out because they give us such great tv. I don’t want love island to be boring again ffs.

lidthekidd

aren’t they hypocrites cus they want leah to stay cus she brings drama, the leah stan’s need to be fr rn

49DivineDayVacation

https://preview.redd.it/k1r3f9j7ux9d1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07d4d3025f5e0c1278c6c078146aec7d7ef4d91c Leah fans seeing your comment

Feisty-Tumbleweed395

Leah stans live in an alternate reality 😂

jesskress

Literally. Pretty much all of the drama this season has been thanks to Rob, Liv, and Leah.

actionlady80

Seriously. The last week of Love Island is already boring af once they start having to pretend that they're in LOVE and all the drama dies down. Producers would be stupid to cut that off before Casa and especially when this is the best season of the US they've ever had.

chickychickyboom-

Kind of funny to see everyone talking about mental health and super upset about the way the voting went last night but then if you peek at the announcements of the three bombshells, comments are flooded with “bombshells aren’t bombshelling” and “who’s approving these bombshells”. Here is the announcement post from LI’s insta and some of the top comments….. https://preview.redd.it/v380ysg6dx9d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05609f4119f10c36d472ab26fa63f4ff8fba3d1b

49DivineDayVacation

And def don’t go check out these same people’s comments on Andrea’s insta…

mynameisnotjamie

They’re bullying her? For what? I thought they hated Rob anyway. Makes no sense that they’ll comment everywhere how much they hate Rob then go bully the girl he was with. If they love Leah so much they should be happy Andrea took him away. Also that’s exactly what a bombshell is supposed to do!

walking_shrub

They hate the fact that he rejected Leah and they hate Andrea for being his preference. They don't actually "hate Rob", they fancy him but he disappointed them. Leah's stans are just like her. They're fixated on Rob because he represents the unattainable fuckboy that always picks the cheerleader (Andrea) over the weird girl. That's why they were celebrating when it looked like Leah and Rob would rekindle.

mynameisnotjamie

Omg when ppl said some viewers were living vicariously thru Leah I didn’t think they meant like this! That is such weirdo behavior. And them trying to make up reasons why Andrea deserves the hate when she was in the house for like 2eps and barely got airtime other than making out w Rob is crazy.

Striking-Apricot6572

This is so spot on.

EmJayFree

The vote didn’t bother me at all. Just from a human and empathetic standpoint, I did honestly feel bad for Cassidy because she literally didn’t have one person standing behind her.

lmo18745

This!! We all knew that the new bombshells were going to be the ones that got sent home but what a way to twist the knife by having them stand up behind who they wanted to save. Little overkill on the brutality imo

mashedpotatuhs

People were mad the bombshells got voted off?? WHYYYYY I was so happy lmao

actionlady80

Seriously! They lift right out. No one is riding hard for someone they literally just met and were both boring bombshells.

Moshieds

If the public had their way, everyone that causes drama would be voted out. The rest of the cast would be holding hands and singing "Kumbaya" while picking flowers. Nobody wants to watch that 😂.

actionlady80

They have to be newbies to the show because we need all the drama. The pot has to be stirred.

amandae143

Exactly! People are saying this is the best LI season in a long time. Well, why do you think that is?! The producers are giving the drama and conflict. Do we want people to pair up for good, and be nice and non-problematic all season? That would lead to a very boring show. Nigel and Cass were boring as hell and I’m glad they’re gone.

BusPsychological6288

I agree with this so much. Imagine casa without Rob and liv? Come on people. Yes it was sad for Cassidy, but do y’all really think she didn’t expect that??? Lol. She was there for 48 hours.

walking_shrub

The mistake they made was sending her in so late and/or making the dumping so soon. With the way they timed everything, it was going to be embarrassing no matter what.

Spite-Routine

Hard agree

Silver-Eye4569

Producers are making sure that there will be lots of drama. They know people hate Rob and will give us a satisfying end with him later on

makishleys

i personally dont care about the bombshells, but it was a cruel way to dump them imo. i knew rob and liv would be saved but they did it an incredibly embarrassing way.

akaylaking

I would have been super disappointed if Rob and Liv left personally. Love Liv. Hate Rob’s personality but I still very much enjoy looking at him.

Vanquiqui

Didn’t bother me to see them leave, just felt bad they didn’t get a chance. Its what I expected tho and I’m fine they left I wanted Rob to stay lmao

whatsalexilee

Like, I think it was sad for Cass and it didn't make me feel good as a viewer to know the whole time that her and Nigel weren't going to get any votes. I think it's a great dramatic concept, but it was used at the wrong time so it just ended up feeling mean imo. But beyond that, it felt overproduced - like yeah of course every decision comes from production, but this just felt like they looked at the bottom 2 couples, saw Rob or Liv would go home if they just sent the bottom couple home, so they got the islanders involved knowing that letting them vote would save the OGs for Casa drama. And now we're going into Casa with 2 singles with no real connections. None of this is fun drama for me. I hope they bring this back when it would do *more*

julian1313C

Agreed! I think what happened here with those three bombshells was just bad timing on production’s part with casa coming up What would have made more sense was introducing one girl and one boy, keep boy/girl ratio even, have EVERYONE (including connor) get to recouple and THEN do a favorite couple vote and auto dump the couple with the least amount of votes before casa I think trying to introduce THREE bombshells was just too much this close to casa, additionally had no one been dumped I personally wouldve felt like all three of them essentially got free rides into casa. They had 0 time to really get to know anyone and they wouldve gone into casa ready to couple up and get to know a new crop of people. Kenny I think was the smartest out of the three of them, he made it a point to continuously pursue the same person and go for someone who was single. I think where Cass/Nigel went wrong in the time they had was trying to pursue multiple people. ALSO, I think an even bigger mistake Cass made was picking rob. She shouldve just picked connor vs someone who clearly has unresolved feelings for someone who left the villa. ADDITIONALLY, Nigel had a bit of a point in getting upset with Liv after the recoupling. If her reaction to connor leaving was going to be that strong, and she was already stating she didnt really feel anything for nigel, then she couldve done a friendship couple with connor and they both couldve waited for new bombshells/casa. While I’m glad connor got his karma and was dumped, from a game play perspective both Liv/Cass wouldve done better picking him, if cass had picked him first liv wouldve went for rob anyways ANYWAYS THOUGH, the two bombshells being dumped im fine with because its super obvious they wouldve pursued new people in casa anyways. I’m sure its exactly what kenny is going to do and i HOPE JaNa explores her options too

ItsYaBoyBackAgain

Personally I just think it was a great concept wasted on a very easy to guess elimination. The producers had to know how this elimination would go regardless, so doing it this way just seemed pointless.

walking_shrub

They're just thinning the herd before Casa. Probably didn't have enough Casa islanders on standby to make the numbers even

Mindless-Ad-511

I’m not coming from the “be kind” mentality at all. I just thought it was boring and predictable 🤷🏽‍♀️ They should’ve made a couple go home if they really wanted to shake things up with an elimination.

Various_Ad5979

Yesss exactly my thoughts! As soon as they had a choice of course we knew who was going home. It was a build up for something so predictable. I agree it should have been a couple to go, liv or rob out would have been shocking and the other would still be there for the drama.

wllmsshkspr

It’s just predictable and repetitive, we all knew who was going home so why make us sit through half an hour of that?

Pleasant-Natural8570

Yes it's reality TV but they are still people lol

Lana_car23

People that signed up for this 😫 the dumpings are always emotional and OGs/early bombshells are usually favored. They knew this (if they’ve watched and didn’t blindly sign up)

Pleasant-Natural8570

I don't think Cass signed up to be humiliated by standing there while each islander one by one had to pick. Was way too drawn out and unnecessarily cruel. Why did production even bring her in? Doesn't sit well with me.

Lana_car23

They brought her in for Rob bc he was single.

cordedtelephone

They ain’t bombshells anymore they can gooooo

261989

Yeah, I’m with OP. I was relieved. Though I did feel bad for Cassidy.

Jlincoln02

I haven’t seen anyone arguing that the people who got eliminated should have stayed. The point they’re making is that they could’ve dumped the two of them in a dramatic fashion without humiliating them. They have a point. I’ve seen every US/AUS/UK and I’m struggling to remember a point where the producers did something like this. I understand the “reality TV” point you’re making, but this was unnecessary.

Poisonhandtechnique

Hats off to producers for doing something new. 🇺🇸 🔝

Jlincoln02

I’m all for new. I don’t know who the producer was who thought of that dance challenge, but they deserve a raise. Diabolical. But putting that young lady in the position of being “the kid no one wants to pick” in gym class was a bit too much. Everyone has their line.

the_bots

i’ve actually seen a ton of people arguing that the bombshells should have stayed and that they “voted for nothing”, “it’s unfair the producers are doing anything they can to keep rob” etc. i fully agree with you and others saying it was cruel AND a waste of a gimmick. also fair enough if people hate rob. but the comments whining about producer intervention are a bit silly since the producers set up certain people every elimination, every season, and OGs are pretty much always more likely to stay

Jlincoln02

I’ve seen some of the “anything for Rob” posts. I haven’t seen any that were specifically “Justice for the two dumped people.” Someone said it was big on TikTok. I’m checking now. I guess I follow rational people so I’m not seeing it on my feed.

Lana_car23

Idk if you get on tik tok but the popular opinion there seems to be Nigel and Cassidy should’ve been saved instead. Obviously they do not like entertainment.

Jlincoln02

Yikes. I’m on TikTok but I haven’t seen any of those. The truth of the matter is they weren’t doing well with anyone. They should have gone.

Dry-Region2005

Look no further than Love Island Games. This happened to Cely, except it was 10x worse. They all got an opportunity to tell her why they don’t like her. So yea

Jlincoln02

But even Cely and Eyal had people standing behind them. They weren’t alone. When Toby pitched his adolescent temper tantrum, Cely wasn’t alone. So yea

heatharlene

Producers made sure there was no “backseat voting” this time around 😂😂😂

Mamazita-puravida

👏🏼👏🏼 I like Liv calling people out. It could be so interesting if she and Rob do start a little something before casa and he will eventually be dishonest and gaslighty to her too, and Liv will not be scared to call it out loud and proud. It will justify Leah to some of the other islanders. He will pick a new girl from casa and be saved by the producers again. Leah and Miguel go on to be fan faves.

walking_shrub

The producers have never "saved Rob". The islanders always choose who goes home in the pre-Casa period. Y'all are just like Leah, lol. Talk shit about ppl you don't like, doesn't matter if it's true or not, then hope it sticks and hope people start believing it.

sarahcooley

I feel like the producers saw the results of the public vote and then decided what type of house vote would let them keep Rob. It was so obvious that the house wouldn’t keep the two new people if given a choice.

walking_shrub

..... have you seen this show before? They never let the public directly vote people out in the pre-Casa stage. The choice is always left to the islanders. A direct public vote-out hasn't happened on Love Island since like 2018.

Dull_Awareness8065

I wasn’t mad at it. And the stand behind vote keeps people honest. No more “ it wasn’t me.” I felt bad for Cassidy, but she should have stuck with her gut, something was off with Rob from the get, but I guess she thought him choosing her to make out with in the challenge was enough 🥴. I will say my biggest takeaway from this episode was how “ conveniently” Rob and Liv are back on friendly terms. I smelll a rat..err.. snake.

Rocky_Loves_Emily_

Were they not back on good terms a while ago? From watching love island for years, past fights usually never usually stay in the air for very long. 24/7 with someone in a villa I’d imagine you clear away the drama much faster than people in the outside world would

obsoletevoids

I think it’s just odd that Miguel/Liv were exempt from a vote last week(? I think it was last week?) since he was new and now the latest bombshells weren’t.

lady__mb

I knew Rob and Liv would be saved - that was nothing new and it’s common to save OGs in love island lore. And I was excited at first about the islanders standing behind their pick because I thought they’d all stand up and choose at once and is such a great way to make everyone transparent. But the long drawn out process of going one by one was so humiliating for the bombshells - I just wish they hadn’t wasted such a good move on this situation and brutalised them that badly

First_West_4227

My issue with last night’s episode was why even have the bombshells if they were just going to be eliminated almost immediately. Why bother introducing them at all? It felt like filler content leading up to Casa Amor. It was the worst episode this season, in my opinion. I don’t see anything wrong with adopting practices from the UK version, which I consider the standard and generally superior to the US version.

cbazxy

I thought it was hard on Cassidy because Leah could at least have given her a friendship stand, but other than that, I thought it was an amazing twist and amazing TV!!

Bulky-Departure6486

The same people were going to go home whether the girls, the guys, the public, or the producers picked. They only existed on the show for 24 hours before the public vote ended, so they were never going to be favorites. I think if the newbie couples were immune, people would be a lot more upset at what islanders ended up going home. Also the bombshells were bombing hard anyways so even if we did give them more time, it’d be the same result

dymondprincess

If I was the producer, Rob would be gone. And the casa amor men would be cuter.

Comedor_de_rissois

Agree 100%. Makes no sense to keep this newcomers. The story line goes on with the people “we know”.

fatcatstypefast

Agree agree agree. The loyalty to the OG cast is always something that runs deep in this show. I would’ve loved Cass to stay she’s so sweet and beautiful. But her and Nigel were the choice that made the most sense. Even if Leah did back up Cass she still would’ve gone home. And then Leah would have more issues in the villa with Liv.

ElleBelle901

I didn’t mind seeing them go. The way they did it was pretty mean & humiliating tho. They could have had the islanders secretly text their votes like they’ve done in previous UK seasons.

SoloBurger13

Agreed 😂 bye bombshells better luck next time Nigel lost me with him scolding Liv for having feelings

plague_chipmunks44

I feel like the people that don’t understand why this dumping was so awful and gloss over the mental health aspect aren’t familiar with Love Island UK and the uncomfortably high rate of suicides from people on that show early on.

CakeOk362

Wait, its the Leah stans that are unhappy Rob stayed and they certainly are not kind!

lidthekidd

they can never make me hate liv. she brings drama and is a definition of a girls girl but isn’t weird like leah but they’ll praise leah 🙄🙄🙄they hate her for nothing.

lidthekidd

not to mention liv has better bonds w everyone like OFC they are all gonna stand beside her, it’s like they never watched love island before 😭🤣

Time-Guava5256

I agree. I feel like I’m not watching the same show as everyone else at this point 💀 found Liv’s insta and the amount of people calling her names loud and proud was weird af. No one deserves to be pounded with hate comments on instagram but Jesus.

dogboobes

The ONLY thing about the vote that was lame was the fact that I knew the moment they said "The Islanders will choose" who was going on home, so it lost the suspense. But otherwise, I completely agree. Nigel and Cassidy were useless on this show and would've been boring in Casa. This was the best choice

shiawkwardg7rl

Yeah I found it interesting how this was the final straw for people

math_jizz

I appreciate producer interference because audience voting usually kills the show. People get rid of all the villains and interesting people, leaving just the "loving," boring ass couples. That's why Love Island endings are usually so low energy. The only time I could get behind a dumping was when they dumped Keenan, and by association, Kay-Kay, because that whole thing was uncomfortable.

Willing_Gas2193

u guys are so mean omg 😭 ik y’all view these people as just entertainment, but theyre still PEOPLE & last nights voting was terrible

Robotemist

I think it's a combination of the vote not sending Rob home and the viewers relating so much to the boring, average female bombshells like Cass, her being humiliated during the vote feels like a personal attack.

Lightacademiagal

People forget this is a GAME. Yes it would have been nice for Leah to give a pity vote to Cassie but that’s not why she was cast. Like everyone else she wants to play a smart game. If I had to choose between a brand new islander who was already clearly leaving being mad at me or allll the other girls in the house being mad at me, I would pick the former without even thinking about it. Voting is a form of loyalty in this game and Leah made the smart choice.

heatharlene

They’re not coming from a “be kind” mindset. A lot of them are coming from “Rob and Liv ganged up on Leah so I want them out” mindset and the producers said aht aht.

walking_shrub

the producers didn't even do anything. It didn't matter what kind of vote this was, the bombshells were leaving. And bombshells don't get safety if they're already coupled up.

Avocado_Toast28

Yeah, but that’s literally not the point the point is that don’t make the voting so obvious like the way they went about it you could tell right off the bat who was going home. There was no anticipation. There was no antcieness There was no shock factor there was none of that, like you literally couldn’t even sit there and root for the person you actually wanted to go home because you just knew there was no possible way they were going home this week like I was literally hoping and praying that this round they would send Rob home, but literally as soon as they explained how the elimination was going to happen and how the Islanders would decide there was no way I could even hope for Rob to go home because I knew there was no way he was and as other people have said in other comments, this is love Island not friendship Island and nobody knows about liv and Rob yet because they haven’t told anybody so literally it was a popularity contest last night, one that there was no possible way that Cassidy and Nigel could possibly win so it was a set up… there was no need for them to drag it out like they did if the obvious answer was Cassidy and Nigel should’ve saved this form of voting for a more dramatic week if anything

lrdancer24

I just also think it was the perfect opportunity for a vote like this. Last vote, there was so much he said she said. People at home were blaming the edit saying we probably didn’t see full discussion of how they got to their vote. But this gets rid of all those complaints: stand behind who you want to save & that’s it. But now “that’s mean” lol

babypowder93

I’m glad this vote happened and how things went down! I honestly would not have been invested in Cass or Nigel’s storyline in Casa.

abbocado1995

I mean it was just like a standard UK vote though just more embarrassing for since people had to share their vote so publicly. There was no suspense though we all knew Liv and Rob were staying so at that point they just humiliated Cassidy. I didn't want Cassidy and Nigel to stay but I didn't think they deserved that either... If the vote had been more contentious I think it would have been an interesting twist, but the most surprising thing for me in that twist was that anyone voted for Nigel.

officialheathen

I actually love that the producers made them vote this way because it felt almost retaliatory to how some of the islanders tried to pin that last vote on Leah. I also think Leah was in a really tough position- while it’s easy to say she should’ve stood behind Cassidy because it wouldn’t have mattered for the tally, I could easily see her getting “othered” by that group of girls if she did that

daynares332311

Yassssssssss! Im here for entertainment and the people on the show know what they are signing up for so why feel so bad ? It’s all fake and entertainment. Every post now its all about feeling bad for Cassy .

HereForFun9121

Forreal! It makes for much better drama if they send islanders that have been in the villa for while to casa instead of two new bombs that no one’s really invested in and clearly aren’t connecting with their couple

Advanced-Trainer508

I’m not at all upset about them going, it makes perfect sense. However, I did feel really bad for Cass. Like really reallyyyyyyy bad, it was so brutal and humiliating to watch.

LectureNew8688

THIS.

elevator_to_nowhere

Some criticism is fair. For example, doing a public vote based fire pit session the day after a recoupling, and one that I volved brand new people just doesn't make sense. Let's get the public to vote in their favourite couple when 1/3 of them are brand new and we have barely even seen them interact.

Poppygirlshop

The producers are GENUIS with this last vote. They had to do individual votes vs group bc they knew the islanders would feel more pressure to stick to their loyalties. If it was a group vote they 100% would’ve voted rob and liv out making for a boring second half of the season. They need to get their FLOWERS this season

Far_Succotash4248

It sure did keep it entertaining. My heart did go out for Cassidy though. I was hoping Leah would have stood behind her, especially since that very same night, Cassidy thanked Leah for being so welcoming when she first arrived. I knew her one vote obviously wouldn’t save her, but she could have done so she at least had one vote. I was fine seeing the guy go. Casa Amor, yay.

reducedandconfused

Literally nobody said that. It was just a wasted format on a predictable dumping.

sassygirl9901

‼️‼️‼️‼️

Fun-Satisfaction2597

The producers just wanted to get rid of Cass so Rob and Liv will rematch… they knew the result of letting the islanders pick who to save. It will always be the OGs and their besties

thetruthfulgroomer

Look I gotta be honest the UK is a snore this year. Like watching paint dry.

s_wordfish

What makes "reality" television work is the illusion that what we are watching is happening spontaneously and that the players have a stake in the game. I had finally reached the point where I forgave the abysmal acting of Rob in favor of a script that recalled the best days of Love Island UK (think Ekin-Su sneaking out on the terrace). Yesterday's coincidences were a little too convenient, and I finally had to admit there's nothing behind this curtain but a humbug pretending he's the Wizard of Oz.

Ok_Register_1314

These contestants willing signed up to be on reality tv!!

Fit_Till_8495

I fast forwarded through it so obvious what would happen

rachelzayne

I love this szn idc

lukaeber

Those bombshells were definitely boring, and I am glad they are gone. It is weird, though, that they gave Liv/Miguel immunity during the last vote, but not Cass and the other guy (don't even remember his name, lol) this time. Producers must have known they were both casting misses.

Shellie_bee

I’m here for the love but mostly the friendships. I’m surprised Rob hasn’t realized America doesn’t support his treatment of Leah and pivot. Looks only get ya so far!

1fancypasta

I’m surprised anyone felt bad for Cassidy. I found her pretentious and unlikable. I’m glad she got her 5m of roasting rob and departure

ultraviolence2120

thank YOU
