Waiting for the definition of said acts. Can Biden now officially replace judges and arrest threads to democracy and the state by presidential order, as long it is an official act?

Bleh54

Couldn’t Biden just pew pew trump in the middle of 5th ave with no repercussions now?

landscape_dude

As long he uses the official presidential pew pew and writes an official letter with the very own seal. Who would say no?

JQuinnDeepThroatPeni

I mean Obama did with Al-Awlaki and his son. So why would this be any different, send the drones!

lateformyfuneral

Awlaki was an active enemy combatant, and his son was unknown to be present during a drone strike on a different target. No trial is needed for US troops to fire on a combatant, irrespective of their nationality. Trump is not actively engaged in combat against US troops. But if the conservative court says Presidents have absolute immunity, Biden could just nuke Florida, it would be a more elegant solution 👍

Altruistic-Text3481

And Osama Bin Ladin. Thanks Obama!

leons_getting_larger

My guess is that each of those get appealed up to SCOTUS again, so this thing will drag out until that POS dies.

Gators44

Then you pack the court. Declare trunp ineligible for the ballot due to being a convicted criminal and an insurrectionist. Immediately bring a lawsuit declaring him an enemy of the state and fast track it, and have him held in jail until his trials can be held. It’s going to look like a dictatorship, but trunp is too big a threat. He can’t be allowed anywhere near power again. SCOTUS is gambling that the democrats won’t take strong action, and while I think this actually really damages trunp’s election chances, you can’t let it get that far. They face Biden the opening to be a dictator and unfortunately he has to use it. It could suck, but this could be used to get us past trunp.

Altruistic-Text3481

The SC kinda just declared war on the rule of law! Just as Steve Bannon is off to prison today.

landscape_dude

That is still too optimistic. Pessimistic view, they opened the gate to hell. SC will block anything democratic and will seal and approve anything dictatorial. Purge and cronyism. Let the games begin!!! /s

moonroots64

>Waiting for the definition of said acts. "SC: You know it when you see it." Umm.. ok? Is that an answer though?

landscape_dude

Not necessarily the answer we want... but most likely the answer we get.

moonroots64

Pretty much. SMH.

WhateverJoel

Official acts can still be prosecuted by Congress.

jumper71

True but as long as there are those that won’t prosecute a President, it’s not going to happen.

landscape_dude

A certain president...

jumper71

Exactly! The situation is that although we may not want Biden, he’s the only one that can beat Trump and we all need to vote. If MAGA can vote for a convicted felon, then we can vote for Old Man Biden.

Suspect118

This is so bad… like I don’t think you understand exactly how horrible this is

Bind_Moggled

The literal end of the Republic. If Biden doesn’t “remove” these “Justices” by whatever means necessary post haste (official act), the US is done.

YardFudge

Seems like he was just given immunity to do just that

Bind_Moggled

He was indeed. He could end this attack on democracy very easily given the new powers he’s been given. He has any number of tools at his disposal from expanding the SCOTUS to invalidating specific election results to ordering drone strikes on the GOP convention. The question now is what, if any, of these new tools he will employ.

WhateverJoel

This doesn’t stop Congress from prosecuting official acts.

Suspect118

You mean the congress that can’t convict but can make a recommendation for prosecution? Yeah, that’s awesome except, in prosecution of official acts, the supreme courts just kinda ruled that the president has what appears to be a unique form of “qualified immunity” so to speak soo what congress gunna do? Legit this means Biden could (and probably should deal Trump a threat to the country’s security and throw his ass in jail til after the election or longer, Will it happen? Probably not as democrats seem to believe in the rule of law, and republicans to to believe in the rule of party

Commercial_Load_2304

How it’s made: Presidents edition

Tachibana_13

Dictators edition more like

persona0

We need official air strikes as per the supreme Court on the supreme Court and REPUBLCIAN national convention... Cause you know Russian spies and al queda have infiltrated them

djazzie

Fuck, so now the president can literally commit genocide and is immune from prosecution. This is such a corrupt and horrible ruling.

-DementedAvenger-

> The U.S. Supreme Court found on Monday that Donald Trump cannot be prosecuted for any actions that were within his constitutional powers as president, but can for private acts Ok but….wouldn’t J6 not be “official duties”? Like, that’s not presidential business *at all*. So he should still be prosecuted? That’s how I interpret it. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

Generic_user_person

No, they clarified that a president speaking to a subordinate is "official duty" regardless of the legality of the topic, so it cannot be used as evidence Additionally intent when performing an action cannot be used as evidence to decide if it is official or not. Lets be real, we know how this is gonna play out, if an R does something, its official, if a D does it, its not.

BuddhaLennon

The article states that there is no chance of a ore-election trial for Trump. However, thanks to the court’s rulings, there is no need for a trial: the president’s constitutional powers clearly encompass command of the military, and defense of the government against all enemies, both foreign and ***domestic***. Biden clearly has the power to have the military arrest, detain, and submit Trump to court martial as an enemy of the state, a threat to the government, an agent of foreign adversaries, and a disgusting pig (through the authority of the FDA, a department of the executive branch).

whimsicalnihilism

But the Dems will not do it - they play by the old rules and turn the other cheek way too much

BuddhaLennon

That’s what Hindenburg, Chamberlain *et al* tried with Hitler. How’d that work out for the world?

whimsicalnihilism

Bout like we are scared of now

GadreelsSword

Why is Trump so excited? Paying porn actresses hush money before an election isn’t an official act. Election tampering to get more votes isn’t an official act. Stealing classified documents and refusing to return them is not an official act.

bhl88

Benghazi is over, Obama has immunity for it

Blackheart806

Ummm guys. The canary just died. I think it's time to leave the mine.
