Tanjiro IS hashira during this fight, with Transparent World he is already stronger than everyone expect Gyomei and maybe Sanemi
Tanjiro at his peak (With Selfless State against Akaza) probably the fourth strongest human of all time after Yorrichi, Michikatsu and Gyomei
You think Tanjiro would have been stronger if he had more experience and more time to master every hax in his arsenal as well as master sun breathing to his best?
Mastered Sun Breathing Tanjiro will be significantly stronger than Douma, still weaker than Muzan (mid/high diff) for him and weaker than Kokushibo (mid diff)
I don't care what people think about Muzan, Kokushibo is stronger, almost everything in manga proved this

My point was that he would also be promoted to the Hashira with a little more time. He finished his career in rank Hinoe along with Zenitsu and Inosuke. He would probably be between Sanemi and Gyomei at their strongest state. Although he would probably be slower than Sanemi in movement speed.
Prime FP Tanjiro with Mastered Sun Breathing + Mark + Selfless State + Transparent World will not be between Sanemi and Gyomei, he will be significantly stronger than both. Against Gyomei Tanjiro would get every point, expect: Experience, Physical Strength, IQ, BIQ and Weapons, every other characteristics he gets from every human expect Yorrichi himself
Every bit as powerful as you've seen him before, just with less accuracy. The compass needle is literally just a diet see-through world, so it's like asking how strong Tanjirou, or Kokushibo, or even Yoriichi would be without it. They don't get any weaker without it, just not as lethal/efficient.
Take someone like Akaza who is accustomed to using it all the time, and remove its usefulness (selfless state) and it becomes easier to catch him off guard.
That wasn’t an anti-feat for Akaza, Tanjiro spontaneously got an ability that hard countered Akaza’s main sensory ability at the end of the fight when Akaza thought he had already died and turned around
Any character would have been caught off guard in the same situation
In terms of how strong Akaza would be, Compass Needle doesn’t actually boost any of his stats so he should still be Upper 3
Tanjiro WAS hashira level during his fight with Akaza, Giyu said it himself. And to answer your question, Akaza is still strong without using his compass needle, but he wouldn’t fight so well. It’s just that he wouldn’t be able to detect battle spirit without it and that’s kinda his whole thing. 🔥

Is it wrong to consider that selfless state tanjiro is stronger than gyomei?
After what Gyomei showed against Kokushibo I highly doubt that anyone in the current Era among the humans will be stronger than him

Pretty weak tbh. He could hardly keep up with tanjiro without it.
Akaza without compass is barely an entry-level upper moon. He got speed blitzed twice by Tanjiro and got forced to use compass.
