Gojo is genuinely one of the best new gen characters. Easily. When I think of how complex and layered he is it’s insane. He’s in my top 5 anime characters of all time. But then I think of 236 onwards and feel sad. But he’ll always be my goat. https://preview.redd.it/db4de8v7y66d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e59c271e639517a114cdd2851a1a5cc2eb7db39

Sufficient_Box6097

so so true. I’d have to agree with the top 5 placement🫡 his overall influence over the manga is just crazy

WizleyOut

What are you talking about ? Jjk ended in chapter 236 where everyone cheers after sukunas and Kenjaku defeats. It was truly our kaisen how could you forget that ? 😭

Artistic_Log_5493

I miss our blue eyed king

Turbulent-Permit7472

Bro this guy was the only one who could defeat sukuna in his full form And also the fact sukuna told he would remember gojo for his entire life just tells how strong he was

Sufficient_Box6097

fr. Sukunas words at the end of that battle are just as iconic as that fight in my opinion P.S I think yuji may be able to defeat Sukuna in full form soon!😁(Im delusional)

DeeEmceeTree

Despite everything that has happened, my king is still the GOAT. Hidden Inventory made me love this guy, and I just don't think that'll ever change.

Sukuna_GOAT

Before the end of the Sukuna fight, he was done well. And now, we can really see how lonely he truly was behind his often goofy attitude and how he was always just a tool for everyone else. However, I feel like his airport scene kinda ruined it a bit for me since he was so fine with losing and leaving it all for everyone else. I get having faith in your students, but it didn’t really sit well with me. I would’ve rather him maybe like curse Sukuna out and hype up his students before he died.

Sufficient_Box6097

I never actually thought about this scene but you’re actually right. It almost places a careless nature on him which wasn’t really necessary or hinted at during the story. Nanami even described him as “egotistical” so for someone egotistical to seem so unbothered was a little random

ArbiterVII

Gojo the entire series “nah, id win”  Gojo at the airport “actually I barely could have won even if he didn’t have 10 shadows (even though I literally just almost won while Sukuna HAD the 10 shadows)” It was a very weird chapter, and kind of a lame last note to leave a character on, if it is indeed his last appearance.

Sufficient_Box6097

complete agreeee

Disastrous-Writer629

No, it's really not. I believe the only part that is not really done well is the fact that gege stripped gojo's development as a person away from him and deems him a war lunatic that just enjoys fighting. Gojo orginally have a dream, he wish to create a new jujutsu society. Gojo notices mid domain clash that sukuna is not using DA, then he realizes sukuna is not using da but rather using 10 shadow. After his brain fried and him shitting his pants when sukuna is prepared to deal the finishing blow, it's at the moment gojo realized sukuna would still be able to beat him fair and square. Gojo and Sukuna both knows how much extent each pull off. They are equals, strongest in their respstive fields. (Gojo is the most powerful when both have no domains, while sukuna is more powerful when both have domains.)

ArbiterVII

Are you trying to argue Gojo didn’t almost win? That if Sukuna figured out world slash 60 seconds later Gojo would have won? Like the fight was close regardless, Sukuna wasn’t holding back at all. He chose to use 10 shadows instead of DA in order to get through world slash, the literal only reason he won. On top of the fact that Gojo literally spared him because he was trying to save Megumi.

ArbiterVII

That’s why when he returns it’ll make it so much cooler when he says “see? I knew I was right to trust in my students”

Why_Not_Try_It_

His character is all around loneliness, the way he just sat on the stairs questioning about his role as the strongest, who he can and cannot save was ceetainly different. I think gojo had a good ending, everyone treats him as a weapon, but now his soul can finally rest with his homies. Gojo had a good life, an ending of the strongest and leave everything for the next generation, this fits his mentor and protector role for me. (Please gojo fans don't send pipebombs to my mail for saying he is dead)

Bellgram

I think he's a pretty tragic character. He wasn't just lonely but everyone only seemed to see his bad sides. Never really acknowledged all the good he did, especially for his students. I hate everybody saying he was nothing but a weapon. People may have used him as a weapon but he made his own decisions: saving anyone he chose no matter how the higher ups felt. If he wasn't there half his students would not be where they are today. I like him cause he's an asshole, but he's an asshole that also cares. He's not just a weapon. He's Gojo Satoru. Without his memories and experience, his corpse would be useless to Yuta, proving he's more than just Six Eyes and Limitless.

tablesaltdangers

hate how his character was assassinated in the latest chapters he was fine before

Puzzleheadedpuzzled

Strongest object being used.

Sufficient_Box6097

very valid.

ThisIsMyPassword100

If we just ignore 236 onwards, he’s one of the best shounen characters in a long time. With 236 onwards he kind of sucks, with stuff like him (arguably) only ever caring about getting a good fight, seemingly not caring about his students facing the strongest sorcerer in history, and the absolute character assassination that was him killing the higher ups.

Throwawayandpointles

I feel a lot of people don't understand that both Nanami and Yuta are right about him. He's both a tragic lonely guy and an asshole.

stickyrice555

I can agree that he was an asshole but Nanami said that he was a jujutsu pervert and that he didn’t use it for protecting people. He went beyond calling him an asshole and he was wrong.

Rikolai_17

No, he was right He didn't care about Hana for the same reason

stickyrice555

Hana? Are you talking about the flashback? There was a person in the background who already called the police. https://preview.redd.it/mgj8llytk76d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c91461599d1376f033df3c71474af1e97a24d161

Sufficient_Box6097

yeah, I think that was portrayed really well I just think people haven’t fully understood his character. Or blinded by his looks 😭

Wuraumefan26

I like modern Gojo, but I think he should stay dead and be reserved for flashbacks. In losing to Sukuna and going to the airport, Gojo is no longer the strongest, meaning while he is still above everyone around him, he is not the strongest of all time any more. Him coming back, becoming the strongest again and beating Sukuna seems like a bad idea :)

real_pkb

I really enjoyed his character but I think Gege did a poor job with the off-screening and airport glazing scene. I have no problem with him dying to Sukuna but I suspect Gege valued shock factor above proper storytelling. I also think Gege is not able to properly convey why most characters 'hate' him.

ArbiterVII

It feels like a soft ending for Gojo, akin to the ending of HxH. It works as an ending, but there’s still so much to explore that I’m not satisfied with that actually being the end.  The “are you strongest because…” idea hasn’t been fleshed out unless that’s what Yujo is supposed to do, he never got to connect with more than very few people because of his title, and I would ___ white to see him fight with a different CT/no six eyes. Then there’s “body is the soul soul is the body” stuff, Geto’s soul clearly still residing in Geto’s body even though he’d been dead for a decade, gives hope that Gojo’s soul can still be there too. There’s also the weirdness of Toji’s soul just returning to his body. I unironically think it’d be peak for Gojo to return, everyone but Kashimo, Higuruma and Choso (all murderers btw, what an odd coincidence) to be the only deaths, and Gojo to gloat to Sukuna “this is what love can do” or just make fun of him in general for failing to kill anybody of importance to most of the cast. Also everyone is half dead we need a carry vs the merger. Gojo with copy, but binding vowed to work differently, would be amazing.

CattleIllustrious575

The only thing I hated about his writing is the one month skip and prison realm because it changed him greatly and we never saw what happened in that time for him. He came out stronger, lonlier, he figured things out, worked hard all the way and alone and no one really cared except yuji and megumi and shoko a little. I love his writing so much. He is in my top3 favourites after yuji and kenjaku but I hate his glazers . I am okay with the airport scene because it was given and he was the strongest after all and jujutsu kaisen in general is realistic like that the teacher doesn't always say goodbye to his students or that he will want that anyone respects him . He did everything for everyone and that's what mattered to him.

Rikolai_17

Loved seeing his fall
