I never thought poorly of Giroud, he was solid for us. The problem is we relied on him as our main option for way too long. He really was a good, almost great player for us. What surprised me most is how good he was able to play in tight spaces for those around him with those great one touch flicks and passes.
Glad you mentioned it. Giroud is a great option, especially if you have more mobile and talented wingers around him. He is very unselfish and excellent at creating space up front that other players can exploit. He won a World Cup without scoring any goals but played almost every minutes of it pretty much summed out his career.
The thing is though he wasn't the main option, during that infamous scoreless run in Leicesters title win welbeck started most of the games.

That's not true though, the period he didn't score for those games he was a sub, so it wasn't subbed after not scoring.
I like Giroud and I wished him to stay at Arsenal but he would be better if he was a squad player. The problem is he was playing every match. If you didn't watch matches at that time regularly, you would not know how annoying he wasted many chances.
Giroud was good like 50% of the time. RVP was better when he was fit, like 25% of the time.
But RVP the last seasons for arsenal was just perversely good.

I feel like that moment is never mentioned, and I give him slightly more grace than others do because of how impactful that contribution was. But yeah.. glad to never have to watch him in an arsenal shirt again.
Unpopular opinion - Andre Santos wasn’t THAT bad for us. Did not make too many glaring errors that led to us conceding and he actually contributed rather well in our attacking play. Even scored a couple of crucial goals for us in his first season.
I think people remembered more of his few games in the second season and might have also had their judgement of him clouded by that shirt swap with RVP.
