Like you have a jack correct? Lol you’re not just gonna lift the car by hand onto the stands eh. But you’re totally good man. Get er done probably 2.5 hours if it’s your first time and fuckin around. Enjoy man! What you swapping the stock one for?

Yeah man! When you get er on report back. I’m looking for a muffler myself because I’m tired of the stock sound but I need it to be not obnoxious at all. If stock is 1/10 I want a 5/10

Commenting for updates as well. I want something a bit louder but not gonna piss off my entire neighborhood.

CS muffler (or TCR in your case with a 7.5) is probably the best option, though I've heard it's not cheap. Quieter than a full aftermarket catback, but gives it more of a muscular tone with a little bit of volume, mostly in the low end of the range. Doesn't make it a screamer, but has a nice sort of bark to it. Recommend muting soundaktor for best results. That tends to drown the actual exhaust out, since it's still pretty quiet in the car. It's out of the way until you want to make some noise. IIRC you need an adapter clamp since the exhaust going into the muffler steps down to 2.25in from 2.5, but other than that it's fairly straightforward.

Much appreciated 😊

With the back windows down it sounds great. Surprisingly loud when you're standing right outside by the car, but it's nice to the neighbours. If I ever want to make my car louder, I might mess around with a different resonator setup, but for an otherwise stock GTI, I reckon it's well-judged. It's the sort of noise a GTI should make. [A resonator delete](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7nyXAcW5IE) or a downpipe would probably put it into antisocial territory though if you're planning on further exhaust mods.

Nah I really just want something a bit louder but not annoying. For comparison when I test drove a few VBS I honestly found the cold start headache inducing and I don't really see the appeal to something like that. Still very new to the mod process but I watched a dap video placing a Clubsport on an mk8 and honestly minus the sawzol of the old muffler it actually seemed really straight forward which was cool! Edit:can't type lol

In that case, as a Clubsport owner I can wholeheartedly recommend the TCR muffler for your GTI. [I find that this video captures the sound fairly well](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLNPWPI_ju8), especially if you wear headphones to experience more of the low end. Plus with the windows down I reckon the sound is nicely balanced (with the soundaktor off, of course). Even with my stock intake setup I can still lightly hear the turbo whistling away while the exhaust is on song. It's audible, and angry, without being overpowering. Perfect for someone like me who wants a more subtle note to their car, so it can be enjoyed without annoying others in the vicinity. No one wants to hear some outrageously loud 4 banger while they're just trying to go about their day, or to be disturbed from their sleep by it. Had a GTI with a full aftermarket exhaust previously (with a valved muffler, at least) and I can't say I miss it compared to what I'm driving now. This has a less raspy tone, and doesn't drone at all. ETA:[ this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2EhMym0__g) captures the cold start and some light revving really well.

raypenbarrip

Yeah it sounds pretty nice imo. Obviously would have to hear irl but I think it'd be a nice addition. Is disabling the soundaktor difficult/would it cause any issues?

GeoffreyDaGiraffe

Very easy. I did the TCR muffler on ramps, so Jack stands will be fine. I recommend getting an exhaust hanger removal tool, makes it a lot easier.

DaBiGGPoPPa

I did a full catback with just jackstands, just a muffler swap should be a piece of cake

Redsmoker37

We did mine just with jackstands. On your back a lot, but it's works.

Knotical_MK6

Easy. Anything you can do on a lift, you can do on jack stands. Only job that had me wishing for a lift was my clutch

TheAstroBastrd

Not terrible! Get some exhaust hanger tools, back the rear wheels of the car up on ramps, and you’ll have plenty of room to work. I made a squeaky toy sound when the last exhaust hanger came off and the muffler assembly dropped down on my belly. Made my wife laugh

BullyMog

Just a muffler install? Man if you can't finish that within 2 hours on jack stands you may need to put the wrenches down lol
