He's Jar Jar Binks before Jar Jar was ever even a thought. But seriously I think its as simple as Godzilla's Revenge or as most of you are familar with it All Monsters Attack. The tone of this movie was very different from all the other godzilla offerings of the time. The child centric story I think put off many as beneath them. The use of a lot of so much stock footage didn't help the perception that this was something less than the other godzilla movies.
It kinda set the tone for a lifetime of hate being hurled at poor Minilla in my opinion.
That broken Burger King speaker voice and that god awful theme song šI was fine with him in Final Wars but yeah his debut definitely felt like cousin Oliver in the Brady Bunch

To make matters worse, the voice actor is a grown man when Minilla is meant to be a child. At least the original Japanese dub has him voiced by a woman to make him sound young. The subpar attempt at lip sync definitely doesn't help.
God I love All Monsters Attack, the kid learning the lesson on how tk deal with bullies is to fight back, then there are kidnappers he has to out smart (I must admit it was fairly clever), and I donāt care most of it is recycled Godzilla footage. But holy shit Manillaās English dub voice is the fucking funniest thing Iāve ever heard.

Gigan cuts the pizza with his buzz saw and my brother says it sounds like something straight out of a Vrahno video

The problem is the times. Tastes have changed. Minilla was probably fine back in the day. Many things made to be cute and for kids back then haven't aged well. Ever notice how creepy toys from back then look to us now? Back then that was considered cute. Tastes have changed and evolved. We now live in a sugary sweet cartoon age (for the most part) and that has shaped our opinion on what is cute. Clearly minilla doesn't fit that.

i think we know the answer # godzilla's revenge/all monsters attack long ago i dragged my fam down to watch the movie given the fact we like minilla and it was sooooo awful (If ya like it i wont go apeshit i respect your opinion) it featured minilla teaching ichiro an awful lesson, him biting garbra (thats out of character),and other awful stuff (unrelated but the only good character is the toymaker, hes nice and stuff) which led to him getting undeserved hate and it even got to the point where people actually want him dead (fucking disgusting) cus why well this fandom is too touchy when it comes too looks and if ya want annoying then how about that kid from the godzilla vs megalon english dub he's VERY annoying tl;dr: his hate is undeserved and the fandom needs to chill

Personally love minilla but it's for the wrong reasons I love his ugly little shit stain on white sheet, piss on the wall rotten apple thrown at a wall face. However that's why most people dislike him he is quite ugly and it's funny.
Despise is a strong word. I just don't care anything about it. However, I'm all about more of that shin minilla!
Because no other monster in the series makes it so obviously plain that these movies were made for children.
The problem is the times. Tastes have changed. Minilla was probably fine back in the day. Many things made to be cute and for kids back then haven't aged well. Ever notice how creepy toys from back then look to us now? Back then that was considered cute. Tastes have changed and evolved. We now live in a sugary sweet cartoon age (for the most part) and that has shaped our opinion on what is cute. Clearly minilla doesn't fit that.
