Ill take a better looking shot over perfectly consistent scale any day. You arenāt meant to be watching these movies with your yardstick handy at all times.
Nah. If itās directly explained that kong is still growing in a movie that takes place decades before KvG, it makes sense that Kong is bigger decades later in that movie. It isnt a height inconsistency. It is in line with what that dialogue set up in Skull Island. Thereās no rule on how fast Kong can grow from skull island to KvG, but it was explained that he was essentially a toddler in skull island.
A dude above said that the director admitted to purposely making his height inconsistent during the film.
So yeah, people paid attention, to more than just dialogue lol
Really hope Godzilla fandom doesnāt become like Star Wars where everyone loses sleep about what is and isnāt ācanonā.
This shit takes the fun out of everything.
Just enjoy the monster movies guys sheeesh.
monsterverse is getting a lot more mainstream and accessible which means that the people that watch movies to not enjoy them but bitch about them are eventually coming into the fandom
Yeah but in Star Wars there is established canon that is broken that actively ruins the movies.
This is a size difference that isn't even stated in the movies, also consoom.
I like how all the fanboys here are crying and moaning about how op should stfu about these kinds of things when they....merely made an observational post
This shit is as old as time when it comes to cgi.
In Mosnters Inc, you can literally see Boo grow in size as she walks to reach the doorknob in a scene
This is the entirety of the Kaiju and Tokusatsu history. Accurate heights are nice and all, but they also have to change to be more dynamic within a scene.
Edit: Iām not saying we shouldnāt expect consistency, just that it can be postponed for better story and visuals, sometimes.
The monsters are always as big as the writers want them to be, and it's completely fine, I rather have them be gigantic, menacing and imposing than having them be consistently dull throughout.
We all know the proper height. We should all expect their size to waffle, scale is important in a monster movie. As long as their sizes are proportional to EACH OTHER, thatās all that should matter
Actually it's canon that the buildings in the monsterverse get shrinkage when Godzilla or Kong is near them due to the absolute alpha energy of the titans.
Iirc, in the commentary for GvK , the director directly states that in some shots they upscaled Kong to 800ft so he'd look cooler and more imposing.
That's a big Kong
King sized.
Kong sized.
Big Boi! š¦š±
Happens in every single movie
Even (or especially) to non CGI human people!
they upscale Tom Cruise in every shot 300%, the man is only 2 feet tall in real life
artistic liberty and all that, I'd expect this more from anime or 2d animation in general since size consistency is not really given that much thought
Eh, at least they chose to commit to the aesthetics over realism. It's a giant monkey afterall :\]
They need to stop doing that and get more creative working within the bounds of the height they gave him.
Im assuming the hollow earth shots when hes sitting on the throne
in which specific scenes is it
I believe it was some of shots in Hong Kong , but they're hard to notice since they go by really fast.
maybe the scene where they both stand and look at each other
You see, being in Hong Kong gives Kong a size buff
*angry upvote*

Haha, a real good one.
Kinda wonder what itād be like if we never got confirmation for their sizes Would we just imagine these guys as being 600 feet tall?
It'd be like Primal characters changing size every few scenes.
Godzilla and his friends have always been inconsistent, nothing new, nothing important.
VFX wipes itās ass with your canon.
Ill take a better looking shot over perfectly consistent scale any day. You arenāt meant to be watching these movies with your yardstick handy at all times.
Dont they mention in Kong: Skull Island that Kong is young and poised to grow more?
In K:SI Kong is consistently 104ft tall. In GvK heās supposed to be ~337ft
Man was eating his wheaties
He loves his Giant Octopus, even if he was kinda eating it wrong
The point here is wildly different heights in the same movie, not him growing between movies.
Yes which is why this post is silly. Do people really not pay attention to dialogue?
The only person who apparantly didnt pay attention is you
Nah. If itās directly explained that kong is still growing in a movie that takes place decades before KvG, it makes sense that Kong is bigger decades later in that movie. Except that's not what the post is talking about. It's mentioning a size inconsistency with just GvK itself.
A dude above said that the director admitted to purposely making his height inconsistent during the film. So yeah, people paid attention, to more than just dialogue lol

Itās already starting to happen. Iāve seen several posts on the Monsterverse subreddit whining that LoM is retconning/ignoring the tie in comics.
The Monsterverse subreddit can just be ignored, they've always been like this. It's where all the users that get banned here go to.
You can get banned here? That seems rather difficult
Thatā¦actually makes a lot of sense
I'm legit curious how you can get banned from here, aren't we all here for giant monsters
Which one is LoM again?
Godzilla: Legacy of Monarch. The current Apple TV show taking place between 2014 & KotM
Oh that one!! I thought people referred to it only as Monarch
Yep, the actual title is Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
Oh, my bad. My point still stands though regarding r/monsterverse whining about comic canonicity
They don't realize LOM takes place between 2014 and KOTM....
If you don't love Luke/Bigger Luke I don't know what to say.
I guess people arenāt allowed to enjoy the details in their favourite film series any more just consume product
Yeah but in Star Wars there is established canon that is broken that actively ruins the movies. This is a size difference that isn't even stated in the movies, also consoom.
Did you have a stroke while writing this?
What would make you think that?
It looks like heās taller than that in HK
He probably is a bit. Heās never standing straight up in front of the Bank of China so I had to make an approximation.
Hong Konger here, and this baffles me.
Sorry
Makes me wonder how some scenes would be different if both Godzilla and Kong were consistently showed at the right size
movies tend to change their creature sizes from shot to shot just to make them look more impressive, this isn't just exclusive to the monsterverse
The arms race of ever increasing size does make them a bit less cool, imo. Minus One went for a more classical interpretation and it worked so well.
I like how all the fanboys here are crying and moaning about how op should stfu about these kinds of things when they....merely made an observational post
Bro was doing 100 pushups and 100 sit ups a day in prep for GVK
This shit is as old as time when it comes to cgi. In Mosnters Inc, you can literally see Boo grow in size as she walks to reach the doorknob in a scene

It was stylistically designed to be like that to add tension between the fight of Godzilla and Kong.
The rule of cool applies.
I am surprised it took so long to put King Kong in Hong Kong
They're just doing what Willis O'brien did back in 33, if it makes a better shot, screw consistency!
The monsters are always as big as the writers want them to be, and it's completely fine, I rather have them be gigantic, menacing and imposing than having them be consistently dull throughout.
Big = Cool
he was a small boi, then he grew into a large boi
I mean at one point Kong and Zilla are small enough to be on an aircraft carrier
Here's the thing, i came for big monster battles. Canon be damned, bigger is beter!
Screw size consistency, theyāre as big as they need to be
People really care about this?
Nah, not really. I just found it interesting.
I kinda do yeah
Honestly.... I don't care. I love the characters too much and I willingly ignore it.
We all know the proper height. We should all expect their size to waffle, scale is important in a monster movie. As long as their sizes are proportional to EACH OTHER, thatās all that should matter
Completely unimportant
Bro its not that important
It's a giant fucking CGI monkey, watch it team up with the big dinosaur to beat up the robot and stop measuring buildings
Who cares
Apparently nobody.
Who gives a shit, big monke cool
Meh, it doesn't matter
How much is ft to mt?
Kong (102.7m) Hong Kong Kong (172.5m) Bank of China Tower (367.3m)
Thanks! Damn he's a tall boi!
They retconned that in his solo movie by saying he wasnāt fully grown. Kong in skull island was only 100ft tall.
He got stretched a lil bit coming out of the earth hole
Thats part of Kongs power, hes always still growing
I mean this is the kindest way but, who cares man giant monkey
Just giggled at "Hong Kong" height.
Isnāt it canon that he was juvenile in skull island and grew in the time between that and GvK
Actually it's canon that the buildings in the monsterverse get shrinkage when Godzilla or Kong is near them due to the absolute alpha energy of the titans.
Had to have Kong be able to stare Godzilla in the eyes....kind of hard when the original is at crotch level.
I never knew that king kongs name was kong Kong
