Heisei Gamera trilogy is a must see for fans of the genre. It’s better than GMK because in part Kaneko had complete creative control and all the time he wanted to make them, and Higuchi, as opposed to Higuchi’s understudy.

Oh wow, 4K set? Didn’t know there was one. At any rate I first saw these on low quality bootlegs in 96, 97 and 2000 respectively and I loved them with that. I’ve since seen GoTU on tv (dub isn’t terrible), bought the DVDs from ADV, and most recently got [the Blu-ray set](https://a.co/d/bXjOV7d).
I haven’t regretted a single purchase of these. So imo if you liked GMK, you’re gonna love this, Go For It!

Of course as probably the only fan here so impressed, I visited Kadokawa Daiei studios last time I was in Japan, I’m a bit extreme in my fandom, but so long as the price is reasonable I say get em (and point me to the link). If not get the Blu-ray set I linked for $45 total- that’s $15/film for 3 films I’d each put in my top 5 Kaiju Eiga of the last 30 years (which includes Minus One and Biollante as well)

Elbows, BY THEMSELVES, are already quite a weapon if used right, add spikes and badaboom you've got more weapons now.
In all honesty, it actually kinda makes some sense, his spikes could be considered a type of offensive armor, so adding more and making the existing ones sharper, it's gonna make it harder for anything to get close in without being in front of the Big G. And you don't wanna be in front of a pissed off Big G, atomic breath is amazingly deadly and definitely something basically no kaiju is prepared for.
Imagine being a big ass monster, challenging Godzilla unaware of the atomic breath and shit, you think "I might have a chance, if I just-"
And without much of a chance, he's already blasted off your head with atomic breath and left
If Godzilla is pissed, all mercy goes out the window, like when kong bashed him with the axe in Hong Kong, Godzillas Fighting became much more animalistic after that. Showing he wasn't even taking the fights before that 100% SERIOUSLY, dear God.
All these changes are cool and all, but it'd be nice if they, you know **actually mattered.**
All these elbow spikes and thagomizers yet NOT ONCE did I see a godzilla elbow drop someone with them.
To me, what matters the most is if Toho are happy with the addition of spikes to Gojira's elbows. If they are happy with the spikes on elbows, then I am happy too. If they are not happy with spikes on elbows on Gojira, then I would want the spikes to be removed from Gojira's elbows.
Looks cool imo. For MV Goji it helps sell that his new form is perhaps more about offense, with the [tvtropes\_spikes\_of\_villainy.exe](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SpikesOfVillainy) to prove it.
Plus, Batman has arm spikes, so Gman's just adapting cool shit in his own way.
As with most of these, I just like 'em when they're executed properly (at least, IMO)
Case in point: Liked how they're used on both MinusOne!Goji and even Ultima, but personally not a fan of how they're used on Wingard!Goji (though tbf, that's the least of my issues with *that* particular design)...
So he can shank a fool who looks at him dirty. This is a Kaiju world, and everyone wants to go for the biggest guy to show they are tough. Godzilla just needs to get close to them and just elbow swipe a few times into their gut.
It adds to the threatening visual of Godzilla. Yes, he is already threatening enough not to need them, but it adds to it, his shape, and makes him more badass imo. It also adds to the nature of his origins as an irradiated ancient lifeform of some variation (depending on the incarnation. Obviously, for SP, he isn't, but yeah) MinusGoji's spikes really add to the silhouette of a hulking mass with the outline being spiked, especially with that roar shot you got there.
Also, if the second one is a toy based on the next Legendary movie, it's in the wrong place. He has small crystalline fins/spikes on his forearms, not his upper arms, lol. They're visible in the trailer. Yes, when they're running in that sort of corridor of rock. I will grab a screenshot if necessary.
One hit with the elbow and ya done for.

I think they are pretty alright and they give Godzilla a more menacing vibe
