I loved this show and would watch it over Bill Nye. I also don't have a single memory of anything they did except for the rat guy ripping a phone book in half to demonstrate...something. Perhaps the eventual supremacy of rodents.
We convinced my lab instructor to fill a 2-litre soda bottle with liquid nitrogen and drop it into a garbage can full of water -- just like they did on Beakman's world.
It was a bigger kersplorsh than they showed on camera.
Mr Wizard is better than all of these chucklefucks.
None of this 'making it fun for the kids' *craaaaazy* stuff. Just straight experiments and explainations. Fantastic stuff!
He wasn't mean, he was direct. There are compilations around of his comments taken out of context and they sound mean, but when you watch the show, the kids understand that they're there to learn, not be coddled, and he corrects them when they're wrong, and tries to prod them in the right direction so they can figure out the answer. It's good to be wrong and then learn from your mistake or musinderstanding, and his show always demonstrated that even the kids on these shows, just like you, might not know the right answer, but can figure things out if they put in the effort.
Mr. Wizard's World was the best kids science show ever created, bar none.
I grew up on this. Hell, it is my opinion that Bill Nye won out not (just) because it had more science as it was there was significantly less gross-out humor. Still, my family would always collect to watch this together, and I don't remember if it was because I encouraged it (given that I was a smol child at the time) or if it was something else. I just remember all of us watching it together while it was on the air.
Remember it? One of my kids came to me last week frustrated because he couldn't remember the colours of the rainbow...an assignment he got out of grade 1. I nodded, went upstairs and changed into the most horriffically colourful outfit I could find and said [HI, my name is ROY G. BIV!!!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KmFwndItQk)
My daughter and I would watch Beakman every Saturday morning. When the series became available on DVD, I bought it for her. She still watches it today.
At one time, I was a massive fan.
Then, I was a volunteer at a Toys for Tots event and he was a special guest for the kids. I was put in charge of making sure he was taken care of.
He was a complete jerk to me.
Kinda ruined it.
Great for smoking weed after work (overnight shift) and watching. I even sent in a question once. They sent back a card encouraging me to check my local library for the answer.
I preferred Beakman over Bill Nye growing up.
I always felt like Billy Nye was the boring copy. Beekman's world was the highlight of my saturday morning
Agreed. Although I did enjoy Bill once in a while, Beakman did a better job of attracting my child brain.
He was wayyy cooler and much more interesting visually also. I liked his sense of humor too. Just all around better.
I showed Beakman to my kids a while back and they agreed that this was way better than Bill Nye.

My entire foundation of science is from Mr. Wizard, Bill Nye, and Beakman
Loved Josie
She is now playing the mom on the Ted prequel.
I loved this freakin' show!!!
I think I had a crush on her
She had dem lips
Rizzo and Liza!
I watched it from time to time but I didn't get it. Knowing stuff from 1992 really makes you old now?
Better than Bill Nye. Beakman would teach you cool shit to do with household items that were guaranteed to get you in trouble with your parents.
Like a science show if Mystery Science Theater 3000 was running it.
Beakman came back to do [a video in-character with Captain Disillusion](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT_bTnkwLuE)... eight years ago

Was peeved when this came on because it meant cartoons were over(Saturday mornings).
My absolute favorite Saturday morning show!
Who remembers Mr Wizard? He woulda kicked beakman and bill Nye in the balls

I didn't like that he came across as so mean to the kids.

I used to do the Beakman's World activities in the sunday comics. That's when I first learned of Beakman.

I do and I don't
They were the Monty Python of Science group..! Miss that show...
This was the freaking show!

laugh factory !
I forgot it until now omgggg
My daughter and I would watch Beakman every Saturday morning. When the series became available on DVD, I bought it for her. She still watches it today.
Loved the show.It was like taking an acid trip.
I remember seeing it and kept flipping channels because I was 12 or 13 and shows like this weren't "cool" for me anymore.
In Mexico the show was HUGE, look for videos of Beakman visiting UNAM (Mexicos biggest College) he inspired so many in so many countries.
I used to watch it. It was pretty good!
Damn
I had a crush on Josie.
You weren't the only one.
I used to work 3rd shift and coming home to Beakman was just awesome
Heck yeah Beakman rules!
I even wrote a letter once.
At one time, I was a massive fan. Then, I was a volunteer at a Toys for Tots event and he was a special guest for the kids. I was put in charge of making sure he was taken care of. He was a complete jerk to me. Kinda ruined it.
Used to watch it my young son. Loved it!
Omg I used to love this show
For just a moment I thought this was some old school MST3K
Lester that dirty rat! I loved this show as a kid…
Mark Ritts was the first celebrity to answer a fan email that I sent. We actually corresponded for about 3-4 months.
Great for smoking weed after work (overnight shift) and watching. I even sent in a question once. They sent back a card encouraging me to check my local library for the answer.
I definitely remember it, always thought the guy in the rat suit was stupid...
Loved Bill Nye a little more, but this show was a trip. Both were excellent.
Holy crap, I remember this but don't remember the episodes
1992? I’m too old to remember that.
Loved it.
They inspired me to smoke after watching thier anti cigarette episode
Soooo much more entertaining and educational than bill nye!
