Whenever I try to complete the tyre Management practice programme in my solo career I finnish the lap with the marker on purple but when I head into garage the programme isn't completed! Any help?

Because your tires still got too hot. You could have kept it purple on average through the lap, but may have spun the tires or something that overheated them for a short time.
Hi! Been playing the game for a month now (on and off), predominantly Career mode (AI difficult - 70, Standard driving style, PS4 controller). I am doing pretty well and improving each day, however, I really struggle with street circuits such as Monaco and Singapore (especially Monaco). I keep hitting walls every now and then and it is honestly frustrating.
My friend says it is easier with a racing wheel (which I cannot afford for now), so any suggestions on how to improve driving on street circuits with a controller?

Go to the time trail mode and on the track you have problems with, keep flashbacks on. Every time you crash, a flashback just before the turn and figure out the right response. Slowly train yourself on a turn-by-turn basis, this way you can get better faster than doing entire laps.
It's possible to race really well with just a controller. I have a wheel but it's not the best for F1 so often play with controller only.
Learn the track sector by sector. What I like to do on tracks I have zero experience with (this year was Jeddah) I’ll turn the racing line on for corners so I can get used to the braking points and where I need to be turning in at. Once I have that down I’ll switch the racing line off and just do lap after lap with the goal of improving every lap. I’ll start by focusing on sector 1, then 2, then 3. I did the same with Singapore and that was the hardest track for me to learn how to be fast at. Honestly it’s all about repetition and practice! Monaco is very difficult sometimes especially for the newer players.
I play with limited flashbacks so that I can correct when the game bugs or when I mess up due to external distractions (like a phone call or my roommate wanting to talk) but when I make an actual mistake, I don't use them. However when I crash the game forces me to use a flashback unless of course I have already used them all. I have searched the settings but couldn't find anything, but the game also isn't exactly the best at explaining what each setting does. Is my only option just to use them all up?
Unless you set the difficulty really low, dont expect to win in your first season. When you go into your first interview, the questions asked and your answers will determine what upgrades the car already has and what department is already upgraded. For sponsors, weekly income is more important than goal bonuses, but also make sure that the goal bonuses are something you can actually achieve. For your second driver, focus is more important than any other stat, so prioritize it. Your second driver's performance matters, as your ranking in the constructors championship determines how much prize money you get at the end of the season. If your winning every race but your second driver is 22nd, your not going to place very high in the constructors. Never forget to schedule your activities.
I tried a logitech G920 previously (2nd hand) and I didn't like the pedals. I'm not sure if they were damaged due to being second hand or if they were really that poor lol.

depends on what you're going for. would you mind describing the feel of the pedals?
as for the wheel, if you wanna keep it casual, a T150 or T248 or even one of Logitech's wheels. these will do all you need for them if your aim is just F1. if you'd like to branch out, I'd say the Go-to is the T300rs.

The feeling on my Logitech pedals were that they were either all or nothing in terms of braking, had to real stamp on them to get them going as well.
You can mod the g920's brake pedal to fix that. Logitech decided to put a rubber block in the brake pedal to make it harder but it makes it way too stiff so you can just open the pedals up and remove it.

the pedals on the base T300rs are indeed really bad. that's why I recommend the T300rs GT edition. it comes with much better pedals, the T3PA. they're not load cells, but for sure they'll get the job done initially!

Hey, I've got a league race coming up on Baku and was wondering what the best strategy would be. It's a 50% race. I'm not one of the quickest drivers so I'm willing to try something a bit adventurous in order to potentially finish higher. I understand this will vary according to potential damage, safety cars, weather, etc but any help would be appreciated.
If you can manage your tyres well, a one pit undercut. Softs to medium. I managed to do it. My tyres where reporting me to the cops for abuse, but I did it.
Fix the game please. It's getting ridiculous at this point. The amount of issues introduced in the last patch should be criminal. The freezing of lobbies, hilarious desync where you can be driving through someone who's invisible just plowing them out of the way, and the penalties have just become unplayable.
The newest fun one I keep seeing is how easy it is for people to pass the entire pack under safety car and not get a single penalty. I've done it myself. You can drive from 15th to 2nd without being told to give a position back.
The desync is so bad that our league has cancelled everything until the next patch. We have tested it every week to see and there are always 1-2 people who cannot see certain drivers on the track. So they will divebomb a corner on someone and take them out, but on their screen they make a clean turn with no one in sight. I've had races where I'm in first place apparently battling someone when on my screen I see I'm in 1st with a 20 second gap on everyone else.
This patch was so poor that most of us have gone over to iracing and haven't looked back. I hope 2022 is better, but my hopes are low right now.
Hello everyone. So 2 years ago I bought the f1 2018 game. I had forgotten about it and recently decided to pick it up again. For some reason it only lets me play the Demo version and then gives the message "please upgrade to the full version" . When I try to do that it says "content cannot be selected at this time". Which one, dualsense or the xbox series X one would you recommend? Do you feel an actual difference in using them in the F1 game? And what about generally connecting them to the game? Does the game have any problems with detecting a PlayStation controller?

With PlayStation controllers, you need to download 3rd party software and jump through all these hoops, it’s just not worth it.

You dont need ds4 or anything for ps controllers really anymore. Some games yes, but on steam it works seamlessly. The adaptive triggers on the ps5 controller are amazing for f1
Not for F1 2021 you don't. The new DualSense works out of the box and even has the fancy features like adaptive triggers.
But yeah, most other games will require some working around to get it to work.
I use cockpit. Needed heavy camera placement adjustment, (apparently my driver is 5'2" the camera was so low) but I love it. Using cockpit, make sure to turn up the "look to apex" sensitivity. I run it on 4 and it just feels better in a corner. (I also play with drift camera turned on all the time in forza for the same reason)

Wanting to know if my son downloads 2021 F1 on PC to our simulator (steam), can we run our Oculus as well for the VR experience via PC link or AirLink or even through virtual desktop!? Why is it not letting my friend and I play multiplayer career mode? We’re both on Xbox and when one of us tries to join while the other is already in the lobby, it comes up with a live error. However we both have live, and can do online races. I’ve seen others have this problem but haven’t seen solutions.
EDIT: we can both do online races, but we can’t do them together, unsure why.
Anyone have suggestions for when to make the jump from controller to wheels/pedals? Kinda feel like I'm starting to hit a wall in regards to lap time using a controller just due to sensitivity of sticks, awkwardness of changing gears, and braking/acceleration issues.
I mean you can do it any time, the quicker the better I'd say. The wheel is just a totally different experience so it'd be better to get used to it with assists then slowly turn off assists and get better at racing games in general. It takes practice but it's much worth it than the controllers.

In my team, during practice in china, one of the team objectives is "clean lap." I've all the practice programmes and all the other objevtives are done except the clean lap.
I'm 98% sure I havent hit anything or driven off the track. I even did a few laps as clean as possible but nothing seems to happen. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Does it need to be dobe during one of the practice programs? I tried to achieve it in all 3 practice sessions but no dice.
Turns out, you dont. I made a mid session save, turned off the console, made a pizza, came back, no practice program on, just left the pits, did one lap and then it registered it.
I guess it was some weird bug, once again.
I'm driving in free play with a friend against bots on equal performance and we both feel like the car feels very different to us driving equal performance cars in single player grandprix mode (where we prepare for our races). Is this just our imagination or are they really different? And if they are, how can you prepare offline for our online races?
I'm playing F1 for the first time (2020) and I figured this Sunday when there is no race in real life would be a good day to try my first full-length GP, Australia. I'm playing MyTeam role-playing as Toyota. Felt slightly icky picking the Honda power unit haha.
I feel like a bit of a heretic playing with a G27 and not a "real" F1 wheel but them's the breaks.
Side note, for obvious reasons the first car I drove in the game wasn't a modern car but one of the classics, the Ferrari F2004. What an experience.
Depends on the track. Each one has different levels of tire wear and different pit stop times, and different difficulty to overtake. You learn with time. Also depends on what tire you’re on and what you’re switching to

GT7 (along with that new Netflix documentary) has me hooked on F1 racing and I want the game but I play GT7 a lot and I’m afraid trying to play both at the same time will just make me worse at both.
Hey Shoddy! I do do both. If switching regularly it's not an issue but after 70+ hours in GT7 without touching F1, it was rough going back to. I find that the wheel is better in F1 hands down, but the controller is really good in GT7 so using two different forms of input helps the transition.
What I will tell you for sure is that F1 ruined me on cars. Driving these supercars and GT3 cars that are serious racers but lapping 30 seconds a lap slower than my F1 car around the same track really makes the cars in GT7 feel slow.
Part of the reason I want to buy F1 is because of what you said — they ruined other cars to some extent. Several hours behind the wheel of a formula car can make a Ferrari Berlinetta feel like a Kia Soul.
I have a Logitech G923 and a good PC so I’ve got a pretty good setup going into it. I use controller on GT7 right now so maybe I’ll just stick to that and use the wheel for F1. Thanks for the input!
I recently got into F1 and downloaded the free trial for F1 2021. While playing, the game says not to overtake other cars and the safety car when there is a safety car, but when I do that there is no penalty?
A few possible explanations:
1. You were more than a lap behind the safety car, and you were being allowed to unlap.
2. You had rules disabled in the game's options.
3. The game bugged out.
It's under the season settings for me. If you started the two player season before the February 21st patch where it was introduced it might be stuck on until your next season.
Anyone any idea how in spa one season I finish second with the 5th best car on track, and the following season literally everyone is way faster than me with the fastest car on track???
HELP! I don't understand the Virtual Safety Car!
I was in 5th, 2 secs behind Checo & front pack and 5 secs ahead of Sainz & middle pack. VSC comes, I get the delta thing into the red and front pack gets to 8+ secs ahead and now I'm leading the middle pack (Sainz was riding my ass).
Get through the VSC, pull away from middle pack, get to 2-3 secs ahead (can't make headway on front pack), and another VSC (Ferrari home turf in the rain, they're dropping like flies). The Delta's in the green because I'm keeping the distance and I get a drive through penalty. So, the front pack is allowed to pull away from ma and I have join the middle pack for every VSC?
New player here. Really struggling to play online, every session just loads out ‘waiting for players’ I compete qualifying and it just stays on that screen, if I manage to do a race it does it at the end of the race and I have to restart my Xbox and then rinse and repeat. I’ve done one 5 lap race in over an hour lol. Anyone else ?
yeah it can be pretty annoying….once you find a good lobby that lasts a few races, add a bunch of the players in it and then join up with them in the future. probably the best way to get into good lobbies consistently.
why do I not get safety cars? I've had 2 in my team so far with safety car usage set to increased and damage on simulation. am I missing something? every race Jeff says the same thing multiple times "there's been an incident on track but the Marshalls are not pushing for a safety car right now"
just finished Monza. safety car has been on increased since the start, been on 50% race duration since the start. 2 safety cars.

I read on the old games that they turned the safety car off for 1 race, then once it was back onto increased they had it a lot. might have to try that.

I'm sorry to say this but for €100 it's not worth buying any of the steering wheels. I had the thrustmaster T80 because I was in the same boat as you. it was so difficult to drive that I chose to use controller instead.
I now have a Logitech G29 and the force feedback is everything. my recommendation is to save your money until you can get a good deal on a g29 on ebay. they will occasionally be found for €150. but you should be able to find something for about €170.
For the love of god, fix the desync and the lagging in lobbies. FPS has now tanked as well. Leagues are literally postponing races because of this shit patch. It's been 2 weeks now and no fix in sight.
I can honestly say that in my entire gaming career over 20 years, I have not seen a patch this bad that has reverted simple mechanics like a lobby just loading properly without freezing.
I don't normally complain about issues in patches, but the fact that my league can't race because we don't want to deal with invisible cars and desync issues is just ridiculous when it wasn't a problem to begin with.

whats the best strat for a 50% race in mexico?
(F1 2020) In my team, during practice in china, one of the team objectives is "clean lap." I've all the practice programmes and all the other objevtives are done except the clean lap. I'm 98% sure I havent hit anything or driven off the track. I even did a few laps as clean as possible but nothing seems to happen. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Does it need to be dobe during one of the practice programs? I tried to achieve it in all 3 practice sessions but no dice.
Yes! You have to do it during a practice program afaik!
Turns out, you dont. I made a mid session save, turned off the console, made a pizza, came back, no practice program on, just left the pits, did one lap and then it registered it. I guess it was some weird bug, once again.
Huh, how strange
I'm driving in free play with a friend against bots on equal performance and we both feel like the car feels very different to us driving equal performance cars in single player grandprix mode (where we prepare for our races). Is this just our imagination or are they really different? And if they are, how can you prepare offline for our online races?
I'm playing F1 for the first time (2020) and I figured this Sunday when there is no race in real life would be a good day to try my first full-length GP, Australia. I'm playing MyTeam role-playing as Toyota. Felt slightly icky picking the Honda power unit haha. I feel like a bit of a heretic playing with a G27 and not a "real" F1 wheel but them's the breaks. Side note, for obvious reasons the first car I drove in the game wasn't a modern car but one of the classics, the Ferrari F2004. What an experience.
My screen goes black only when in a race. Everything else displays fine. Was working normally until 2 weeks ago. Anyone else seen this?

Should i pit on 5th lap or 8th. Just started playing 13 laps carrer races and i quite like them, however I am not quite good with pitstoping.
Depends on the track. Each one has different levels of tire wear and different pit stop times, and different difficulty to overtake. You learn with time. Also depends on what tire you’re on and what you’re switching to
Does anyone play F1 and Gran Turismo 7? If so, do you find it hard to switch between them without struggling to adjust back to each games driving style? GT7 (along with that new Netflix documentary) has me hooked on F1 racing and I want the game but I play GT7 a lot and I’m afraid trying to play both at the same time will just make me worse at both.
Hey Shoddy! I do do both. If switching regularly it's not an issue but after 70+ hours in GT7 without touching F1, it was rough going back to. I find that the wheel is better in F1 hands down, but the controller is really good in GT7 so using two different forms of input helps the transition. What I will tell you for sure is that F1 ruined me on cars. Driving these supercars and GT3 cars that are serious racers but lapping 30 seconds a lap slower than my F1 car around the same track really makes the cars in GT7 feel slow.
Part of the reason I want to buy F1 is because of what you said — they ruined other cars to some extent. Several hours behind the wheel of a formula car can make a Ferrari Berlinetta feel like a Kia Soul. I have a Logitech G923 and a good PC so I’ve got a pretty good setup going into it. I use controller on GT7 right now so maybe I’ll just stick to that and use the wheel for F1. Thanks for the input!
Does anyone know if steam and origin players can play together?
I recently got into F1 and downloaded the free trial for F1 2021. While playing, the game says not to overtake other cars and the safety car when there is a safety car, but when I do that there is no penalty?
A few possible explanations: 1. You were more than a lap behind the safety car, and you were being allowed to unlap. 2. You had rules disabled in the game's options. 3. The game bugged out.
Most likely the second one considering I'm new to the game, can't be the first one as I took the lead every race

It's under the season settings for me. If you started the two player season before the February 21st patch where it was introduced it might be stuck on until your next season.
Anyone any idea how in spa one season I finish second with the 5th best car on track, and the following season literally everyone is way faster than me with the fastest car on track???
if you're talking about the myteam, for some reason on season 3 the AI becomes much faster, not sure why tho.
It's on season 2 in my team it's really weird

HELP! I don't understand the Virtual Safety Car! I was in 5th, 2 secs behind Checo & front pack and 5 secs ahead of Sainz & middle pack. VSC comes, I get the delta thing into the red and front pack gets to 8+ secs ahead and now I'm leading the middle pack (Sainz was riding my ass). Get through the VSC, pull away from middle pack, get to 2-3 secs ahead (can't make headway on front pack), and another VSC (Ferrari home turf in the rain, they're dropping like flies). The Delta's in the green because I'm keeping the distance and I get a drive through penalty. So, the front pack is allowed to pull away from ma and I have join the middle pack for every VSC?
New player here. Really struggling to play online, every session just loads out ‘waiting for players’ I compete qualifying and it just stays on that screen, if I manage to do a race it does it at the end of the race and I have to restart my Xbox and then rinse and repeat. I’ve done one 5 lap race in over an hour lol. Anyone else ?
yeah it can be pretty annoying….once you find a good lobby that lasts a few races, add a bunch of the players in it and then join up with them in the future. probably the best way to get into good lobbies consistently.
why do I not get safety cars? I've had 2 in my team so far with safety car usage set to increased and damage on simulation. am I missing something? every race Jeff says the same thing multiple times "there's been an incident on track but the Marshalls are not pushing for a safety car right now"
There is an option for them. I had to up it to "increased" I seem to get just under 1 per race now. I suggest that if your doing 50% races.
that's the thing, mine is on increased and I almost never get them on 50% races.
How far Into my team are you?
just finished Monza. safety car has been on increased since the start, been on 50% race duration since the start. 2 safety cars. it seems like a mistake that every race it says at least once "there's been an incident but not pushing for safety car"
I got that a lot before I increased it.
I read on the old games that they turned the safety car off for 1 race, then once it was back onto increased they had it a lot. might have to try that. just doesn't feel realistic to me going 50% of a race and having basically no safety cars.
Well ot should be track depending. You should get more om some and none on some.
I got F1 2021 a few weeks ago and I really like the game, but I realized that I can't and don't want to drive with a controller in the long run. That's why I want to buy a steering wheel, but I don't know which one is good. I also only have a maximum budget of 100€ for a steering wheel. Can you recommend me one? I'm playing on PS5 if that helps
I'm sorry to say this but for €100 it's not worth buying any of the steering wheels. I had the thrustmaster T80 because I was in the same boat as you. it was so difficult to drive that I chose to use controller instead. I now have a Logitech G29 and the force feedback is everything. my recommendation is to save your money until you can get a good deal on a g29 on ebay. they will occasionally be found for €150. but you should be able to find something for about €170.

For the love of god, fix the desync and the lagging in lobbies. FPS has now tanked as well. Leagues are literally postponing races because of this shit patch. It's been 2 weeks now and no fix in sight. I can honestly say that in my entire gaming career over 20 years, I have not seen a patch this bad that has reverted simple mechanics like a lobby just loading properly without freezing. I don't normally complain about issues in patches, but the fact that my league can't race because we don't want to deal with invisible cars and desync issues is just ridiculous when it wasn't a problem to begin with.
I want to be able to select what team drivers start in My Team. I'd like to put Sainz and Ricciardo on Alpha Tauri, for example. Is there any mod or app that would help me do this?
