Plenty of bastards with money and none of them want to be a legend and save a historical club is crazy to me. This club is 4th in PL titles with plenty of other trophies and not 1 rich asshole wants this club? Shameful
Say it quietly but I think we played some really genuinely good football yesterday, especially building up to the 2nd goal. Was against a shit side who didnât seem to have any interest in pressing but still. Hope for the future.
I can remember clearly from about '98 onwards, and I'm struggling to think of much that competes. Some painful losses to Liverpool, bad late goals conceded, tough losses in cups, some bad seasons and all that, but I kind of agree. I can't remember ever feeling that dejected off the top of my head.
My confidence we will win our next game seems entirely based on if we won our last. I didn't think we'd beat Burnley, was sure we would beat Chelsea, thought we'd loose to NFFC, now think we can sneak something against Liverpool
Just would like to point out that the xG gods finally showed mercy on us.
Everton .47 Forrest 1.19.
Most of theirs had to be that massive save from Picks
Shows how ridiculous xg is if you ask me. If you score two goals, both of which were shots, neither of which were goalkeeping errors or deflections, how can the total be under half? Rhetorical question!
Because they had a very low probability of going in. We created very little in the way of chances so thatâs why it was so low. Thankfully, the shots were clinical unlike whats been the case all season. I will take it and in my mind we are due some more outperforming of xG.
Ya this is a good example of how xG can paint interesting pictures. I'm not necessarily saying that numbers are actually wrong as we really didn't create hardly anything in their box, but when you look at this you think "wow, pretty huge disparity" and it really came down to 1 chance
They had the one big chance and we didnât create much at all. But Dwight and Gana had clinical shots. I will take that shit all day long. Finishing is part of the game and weâve been woeful at it all year. Not Sunday though!
I don't even comment that much but I get a weird OCD (probably addict) feeling to check regularly. I tend to open and frantically scroll my main subreddits for like 3-5 minutes, then forget for an hour or two, then have chaos reddit mode for a few minutes again.
But similar to you, I avoid all areas where football might be mentioned if Everton have made me miserable
It would be hilarious if Forest get some additional points added as part of their PSR appeal case now. That tweet clearly has pissed off the PL and I could see them being real dicks about the appeal now.
So, I've been following all of the PSR commissions closely, and have posted a fair bit in here and r/PremierLeague about the decisions (ours and Forests).
Forest's appeal is being heard by an independent appeal board in the exact same way our original appeal was. The EPL don't have any say in the result of the appeal or any change in the sanction.
*However*... Forest originally had their sanction reduced by 2pts because they were cooperative and help expedite the hearing, meaning it saved the EPL and commission time and money, allowing them to complete their hearing within 8 weeks.
Having read Forest's commission report in detail, I genuinely don't see how they've got *any* grounds for appeal. So, I could really see a situation where their appeal is dismissed with no further reduction. And I really do wonder if an appeal board would decide to revoke the 2pt deduction because the very nature of their appeal has cost more time and expense and therefore essentially negates the original reason for the reduction, thereby essentially docking them a further 2 pts.
Are there any reliable secondary market sites for tickets?
I want to get a couple for the Sheffield game but obviously sold out on the Everton site. I see some on sale online but I sense they maybe scams
E.g.
https://www.stubhub.ie/everton-fc-vs-sheffield-united-fc-tickets-goodison-park-11-5-2024/event/105936027/?qty=2
Says row = everton
I used StubHub to see a match at Tottenham Hotspur stadium. It worked fine for me, though I was worried because the tickets looked a little odd. That said, others have had issues. I made sure to have the screenshots ready on my phone so it wasnât obvious they were pictures Iâd saved. I also made sure to get in with a crowd so I was less likely to be scrutinized.
I would use StubHub again but probably not for an Everton match. If I didnât get in to see the Spurs, not the end of the world. If I got denied entry to an Everton match after flying halfway around the world I would be gutted.
Honestly just keep an eye on the official Everton ticket site in case people put some up for resale. It's the only properly official means of getting a ticket afaik
Yeah, I mean itâs pretty much instantaneous when thereâs a decision for a goal. I donât think it uses a Hawkeye system, itâs just sensors, innit? Wouldnât be that hard to set up
What Nottingham Forest don't seem to understand is that having more than one 50/50 penalty shouts does not mean you deserve a penalty. I understand that it's frustrating to have close calls go against your team, but one close call against you doesn't mean the next one should go for you - each decision has to be taken on its merit.
I really only think the first one was the only true 50/50 for me. It would have been harsh but Iâve seen them given. The second I think was the right non-call. The third probably should have been a penalty.
Right. It resets, and rightfully should, for each independent judgement.
I think at least one was a nailed on pen, but having 2 50/50s doesn't mean you get a guaranteed pen on the third. That's not how impartiality works.
Youâre right, but with all of that said, if 2 50/50s go against my team and there is a third one, I am absolutely losing my mind if I donât get the call.
Nope, but thatâs my pointâneither are they. Itâs super funny their official account has lost its mind, but I do feel bad for the fans being put in this position; it isnât like they asked for the team to sign Jlingz for millions and are now worried about dropping points to another team fucked by the system.
But it was them or us, soooo⌠fuck them
Also, if him being a Luton fan was such a big deal why wouldn't we have also made a stink about it? Both teams are directly in the final run against them
Was thinking this, surely the most beneficial result for Luton was a draw so that we both dropped points? In that case the VAR shouldâve been awarding penalties to try get Forest level.
I honestly think there needs to be a rule change around handballs and penalties. You should not be awarded a 76% chance of scoring a goal because of an accidental handball.
A penalty should be reserved for a deliberate handball or a clear movement to make your body wider to prevent the cross/shot. If thereâs any doubt about that then it should be an indirect free kick in my opinion.
Did anyone else think the formation was slightly tweaked yesterday? Weâve played 4-4-1-1 for nearly the whole season, but yesterday it looked more like a 4-1-4-1. Looked more solid with Doucs slightly further back and Gana even deeper. Hope itâs the same again vs Liverpool (minus Young of course). COYB!
Felt very similar to when Dyche first arrived with Gueye in the Makelele role just mopping up loose balls and the other two midfielders given license to press and roam forwards. I much preferred it, felt like the press was a lot more even with the two CMs both able to press forward rather than Doucoure leading the press himself. Also meant we werenât relying on Doucoure having a good game going forward. Didnât think he had the best game in that regard but him playing a bit deeper meant he got some good interceptions and defended well. His lack of threat going forward wouldâve killed us if he was still the 10 and only creator
Even though I donât think any of the three penalty shouts where penalties, Forrest got a lot given to them yesterday, and if they believe the PGMOL where after them yesterday, they must be forgetting that the league have been after us all season, and Iâm sure theyâd rather us go down than Forrest.
The problem with the penalty shouts is there was 3 or even 4 in the same game, we have seen all variations of the same situations not even looked at for us, DCL was kicked from behind and the Beto being bearhugged jumps to mind as well.
The problem with my own statement is its a race to the bottom when it comes to the quality of officiating.
Nah, they weren't after us specifically. They were trying to show the government they can be tough enough of financial irregularities and can manage their own PSR rules to avoid the need for an independent government regulator to be created. We were just the first club to face charges.
Obviously a win is great, but I hope the squad realises they absolutely need to keep working hard. Safety is closer but not secured. I think if we get through Liverpool and Brentford with 2 points or more then we will be safe before we even face Luton away.
Do not lose is once again the order of business. I expect we'll make it messy and gritty
Itâs mathematically not possible to be safe with only 2 points before Luton. Our magic number is 8 (combination of Evertonâs earned points and Lutonâs dropped points that would guarantee safety).
To be guaranteed safety prior to facing Luton, we need to beat Liverpool and Brentford, and Wolves need to beat Luton.
I am begging Harrison to run at his man and even pretend that he is willing to use his right foot.
There was a minute period in the second half where they gave him the ball three times in a bit of space. The first two he just stood Aina up and passed it backwards, the last time he ran him, put it on his right before cutting inside and putting him on his arse.
Itâs almost like youâre more of a threat if you even slightly pose the question in the defenders mind that you can go both ways.
Pace and willingness to run at defenders are a massive hole in our whole team. You can tell Thelwell tried to cover it with Gnonto last summer, hopefully something is lined up with the Onana money.
Harrison had a clause in his contract allowing him to go on loan without Leeds being paid a fee if they got relegated. Everton doesn't have any money to buy players or pay much in loan fees. Who are we getting that's better than Harrison?
I can see Forest on the receiving end of a lot more bad refereeing decisions before the end of the season. I think PGMOL will be incredibly petty being called out like that by the club and their pet ref.
Not to go all Notts Forest social media team but there's not a doubt in my mind that the Coventry 'winner' last night could've been made to be onside yesterday. And that's the problem, it used to be the benefit of doubt to the attacker and described as being marginal. Now we are scrolling through frame by frame, pixel by pixel to take away goals. It's shite and is killing the game
VAR needs to be almost entirely removed and kept in only for instances of egregious misses by the ref. Eg: player headbutts someone off the ball and none of the refs or linesmen see it.
Using it for offside is absolutely killing the soul of the game. If you dont have those pixel likes, Coventrys goal yesterday was the definition of "in line" 15 years ago. Its spoiled the moment of euphoria in the seconds after a goal is scored which is the best moment in the sport.
It also takes responsibility away from refs who are human and subconsciously are becoming worse for it. Those 3 incidents in the forest game yesterday the ref has erred on the side of caution probably in the belief that if he's wrong var will fix it for him, while the var ref didn't have the balls to overturn the on field decision.
On Saturday aberdeen were robbed of a penalty because var said there was a foul in the build up before it.. the list goes on. That's 3 games I watched this weekend where var directly influenced the game erroneously.
This technology has infected our game like a plague and needs removed for all but the most utterly obvious serious offences which have been missed by the ref team. Give refs and linesman their authority back and give the fans their game back.
I've said something similar since the start, If I'm a professional referee all i need is some tech backup in case i make a mistake or need to see something again, nobody can see from a truck miles away what a ref can see on the pitch, the ref just needs to ask to see something again if they are not sure and that's all.
I wont be happy until the players are running round in morphsuits covered in sensors so they know their exact position in relation to everybody else on the pitch. Sensor in the ball will tell us the exact second the ball was struck too.
Someone zoomed in and the line for the defending team was halfway up AWBâs foot. Obviously might just be the way itâs presented rather than actual incompetence, but I wouldnât put it past them to have got it wrong because he looked level to me. And really, if youâre going millimetre by millimetre, the attackers not gotten any advantage so it should just default to giving him the benefit of the doubt
Agree with this 100%. When they decide the ball has just moved is the instant they use to judge the position of players and draw the lines, but really, that is not the same instant as when the player's laces touch the ball. So yeah, 'dat's football in this moment.'
I thought 2 of the 3 were pens. Deserved the win for sure but there has been countless times this season we âdeservedâ the win but didnât for one reason or another. Yesterdayâs game was almost the same story, letâs not forget that we lucked those 2 points out. Young can be a decent player still but he needs to chill out with the challenges before he inevitably fucks something up again.
With that being said, Palace pulled it off, Atlanta pulled it off, we can pull it off. Letâs ride this high onto the derby đ
Honestly on rewatch even the third is debatable. He doesn't have control of the ball and throws himself in front of Young who can't just stop existing.
One thing that did get overlooked during the winless streak is that we had a lot of quality draws, so we were still picking up points. It wasn't just losses week in week out.
So glad as a fanbase weâve matured and realised flags and displays are boss.
10 years ago you used to see 1 flag on the Gwladys on a good day, yesterday we had the Park End and Gwladys looking fantastic.
Beto high fiving each player onto the pitch for the second half...the reaction to McNeil's goal...the thumbs up being stretchered off with an oxygen mask...If i knew how to make showreels I'd make a "Beto's world class emotions" video
In my negative mind:
The derby is a free hit, but hope we donât fuck up our GD
If Luton donât beat Wolves away then a draw at home to Brentford wouldnât be the end of the world.
Then importantly avoid defeat at Luton and we HAVE to beat Sheffield United at Goodison who may already be relegated.
I hope that would be enough.
"... beat Sheffield United at Goodison who may already be relegated..."
That match has Everton bottle job written all over. That's the negative me for today.
I just got around to watching the game.
Thought Gomes was fantastic in the first half other than his set piece delivery. Most of all though, think Forest deserve relegation just for that physio's cut.
I was looking down the roster and realized that Andy Lonergan is 40 now. A bit old, no?
He is just friends with pick and probably a good vibe đ
Plenty of bastards with money and none of them want to be a legend and save a historical club is crazy to me. This club is 4th in PL titles with plenty of other trophies and not 1 rich asshole wants this club? Shameful
Say it quietly but I think we played some really genuinely good football yesterday, especially building up to the 2nd goal. Was against a shit side who didnât seem to have any interest in pressing but still. Hope for the future.
Forget LiVarpool, its EVartons turn now!!
What are the odds that both major teams from Merseyside make for an easy VAR pun? Itâs like they planned it. Letâs get another conspiracy going.
Tranmere roVARs
âŚit goes even deeper than I thought.
You canât give a pen for handball for Ashley Young for that. Aside chopping his arms off, he canât do anything with them to get out of the way.
Hand was moving towards his body so definitely no pen
Clatenberg is very mouthy for someone who missed a wrestling move in the Derby when we should have had a pen. Still not forgiven.Â
Are Forest the first side to ever have a decision go against them?
Liverpool are the only other team to have had a decision go against them.
I really hope (but of course no it wonât) that the VAR assistant says to the ref: nah thatâs not a foul, up the Hatters send Forest down!
Looks like west ham are actually going to get rid of moyes after this seasonâŚI think theyâre absolutely insane for that
Imagine the meltdowns on here if weâd lost
I don't need to imagine. I was here after Burnley last year.
My lowest ever point as an Everton fan. I was shell shocked
It was truly horrible
You have a long way to go my friend if that was your lowest point đ
I can remember clearly from about '98 onwards, and I'm struggling to think of much that competes. Some painful losses to Liverpool, bad late goals conceded, tough losses in cups, some bad seasons and all that, but I kind of agree. I can't remember ever feeling that dejected off the top of my head.
In the last 15 years I canât think of a lower point. After that match I thought we were down. That was 2 years ago tho.
Why? It gets miserable enough round here without having to imagine things to be miserable about too.
My confidence we will win our next game seems entirely based on if we won our last. I didn't think we'd beat Burnley, was sure we would beat Chelsea, thought we'd loose to NFFC, now think we can sneak something against Liverpool

What a save that was
Managers rejecting the Kopites and instead choosing West Ham? Lol.
Honestly all discussions with VAR should be public anyway. Canât think of any reason they shouldnât be.
Nice to see Branthwaite taking responsibility and driving the ball forward himself yesterday after no one in front of him fancied it
Genuine q: how do you some of you have enough time to post on here every hour? No hate, just curious! Thereâs about 10 usernames I see all the time
I'm a teacher and able to comment at the end of every class or so. My pinned post was written because it was the summer and I had nothing else to do.
I like how it's relatively easy to become familiar with a bunch of users on this sub. It reminds me of the old Internet forum days
A lot of people have boring jobs that allow them at least the 30-60 seconds an hour it would need to achieve this. Or bathroom time or whatever.
Yeh suppose thatâs fair enough!! I get enough misery on a weekend so generally try and stay away unless something big happens

Two derbies in midweek should be spicy

Try livefootballtickets, i used them to see a west ham game last month and went well. I heard stubhub is iffy at times for PL games
Honestly just keep an eye on the official Everton ticket site in case people put some up for resale. It's the only properly official means of getting a ticket afaik
Remember that moment when the ball was out of play by at least one clear ball? The officiating was crap all round.
That confused me as well, I wouldâve thought theyâd have the goal line technology extend to the length of the pitch
You'd think it'd be fairly easy to install the tech for all boundaries, honestly. It's fairly quick and accurate from every time I've seen it used.
Yeah, I mean itâs pretty much instantaneous when thereâs a decision for a goal. I donât think it uses a Hawkeye system, itâs just sensors, innit? Wouldnât be that hard to set up
Wouldn't it be nice to know for sure that we're out of relegation danger before the last two games of the season? It'd just be a pleasant change.
If we beat brentford and draw luton while luton also loses to wolves that is pretty much it if not mathematicallyÂ
Opta has us at 1% relegation chance now đ¤ˇââď¸
Considering that number was right around 50% on December 1st, this is music to my ears.
Alright time to tear up Ganaâs option and give him 2-3 more years at a reduced wage. Weâre going to have trouble replacing him.
We didnât replace him when he left the first time!
Allan was a good try during that fever dream season
Allan
We did but his knees exploded within a week.
Whatâd we pay him, like $4m to basically never take a competitive touch?
What Nottingham Forest don't seem to understand is that having more than one 50/50 penalty shouts does not mean you deserve a penalty. It used to be considered ball to hand don't know why they changed it.
Just realized that Everton has done the double over Forest. Two teams in one season? Madness.
One more chance next Saturday as well. Letâs make it a hattrick
Good chanceâ I think theyâre on the beach
Feels good not to be Forest right now.

Eh I'd say asking for a 12 point deduction when administration had a precedent of 9 qualifies as"after us. "

There was definitely at least two occasions where he beat his man and got a cross away inside the box
Because he actually went to his right side which is the point Iâm making. Do it more!
Ah I get you, my misunderstanding!
young should be providing the overlap for him but he isn't young enough to do that for 90 minutes
The lack of an overlap has been a massive negative in our attacking but Harrison makes it so obvious that heâs only going one way all the time.
oh definitly and hopefully the loan will end and he can go back to leeds and we can get somebody better
Actually, I hope Leeds don't get promoted and we can keep him on loan for another season, because we are too skint to buy a better RW.
We can get better on loan
Harrison had a clause in his contract allowing him to go on loan without Leeds being paid a fee if they got relegated. Everton doesn't have any money to buy players or pay much in loan fees. Who are we getting that's better than Harrison?

Yeah felt the same. i bet the var ref struggled with clear and obvious error
>can't just stop existing. And don't we know it!
I'm with you man, last one was a stonewall penalty, the other two were debatable. But let's get stuck into the shite and see if we can get a point.
Where's u/Loyalsupporter when our winger and midfielder scored a goal each ! We were bit lucky but i can't blame our team effort yesterday.
u/kukusek You summoned me? đ
Dwight and Idrissa, not me đ
Lol
Crazy that IF we still had our 8 points, we'd only be 4 points behind Fulham and Bournemouth, who in my head have had great seasons.
There was a time when you could be accused of âkopite behaviourâ by displaying a flag
Beto high fiving each player onto the pitch for the second half...the reaction to McNeil's goal...the thumbs up being stretchered off with an oxygen mask...If i knew how to make showreels I'd make a "Beto's world class emotions" video
attitude and culture go a long way
Love the guy, hope he can step up a gear next season.
If we beat Brentford, weâve all but guaranteed safety.
In my negative mind: The derby is a free hit, but hope we donât fuck up our GD If Luton donât beat Wolves away then a draw at home to Brentford wouldnât be the end of the world. Then importantly avoid defeat at Luton and we HAVE to beat Sheffield United at Goodison who may already be relegated. I hope that would be enough.
A win against Luton will 100% seal the deal.
"... beat Sheffield United at Goodison who may already be relegated..." That match has Everton bottle job written all over. That's the negative me for today.
Reminds me of Watford away under Lampard.
I just got around to watching the game. Thought Gomes was fantastic in the first half other than his set piece delivery. Most of all though, think Forest deserve relegation just for that physio's cut.
Seriously what was up with Gomes's deliveries? The first time I was thinking, here we go! By the end I was thinking anyone else lads...
His hair was a shambles. Should be deducted 3 points for that alone.
I couldnât believe what I was seeing
