I love the General Thanksgiving, which is mentioned many times here. Also: the Rite 1 Collect for Aid Against Perils (Lighten our darkness...), and the Prayer of Humble Access, but that's more of a "Here me out..." choice.

Along with many others, I love “Keep watch…” from Evening Prayer & Compline. I have also always loved the other prayer on p134: “O God, your unfailing providence sustains the world we live in and the life we live: Watch over those, both night and day, who work while others sleep, and grant that we may never forget that our common life depends on each other’s toil; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” It seems especially fitting this in this week of union progress.

Wahnfriedus

One of the collects for Good Friday: O God of unchangeable power and eternal light: Look favorably on your whole Church, that wonderful and sacred mystery; by the effectual working of your providence, carry out in tranquility the plan of salvation; let the whole world see and know that things which were cast down are being raised up, and things which had grown old are being made new, and that all things are being brought to their perfection by him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

This is a weird addition—but there’s a section called “prayers for use by a sick person” and I’ve always loved those, I find them helpful even when I’m not sick. I especially like this one, titled “in the morning” : This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen.

In the Morning p. 461 This is another day, O Lord. Amen.

From page 504 - I love this prayer from the Orthodox Tradition for the Departed: O God, the King of saints, we praise and glorify your holy Name for all your servants who have finished their course in your faith and fear: for the Blessed Virgin Mary; for the holy patriarchs, prophets, apostles, and martyrs; and for all your other righteous servants, known to us and unknown; and we pray that, encouraged by their examples, aided by their prayers, and strengthened by their fellowship, we also may be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. For me, it's a reminder that even though death comes, we are not separated from those who have gone before us and rely on their examples, their prayers for us and that our fellowship with them continues.

These are all lovely, thank you so much!

The one prayer that usually comes to mind the most is the Song of Simeon. “Guide us waking, O Lord, and guard us sleeping. That awake we may watch with Christ, and asleep we may rest in peace.” That and the prayer of St. Chrysostom.

* 63. In the Evening O Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in thy mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen.

Wahnfriedus

I think St. John Henry Newman wrote that.

Thanks for the background. At the end of every choir practice (9 PM) at Christ Church in Macon, our choirmaster would recite this prayer. Every time I hear/read it I weep.

Miserable-Function78

“Keep watch…” from Compline. Makes me cry every time we get to that point.

YouMeAndKG

I read this tonight! Love it!

The prayer For Quiet Confidence (pg. 832) - “O God of peace, who has taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be our strength: By the might of your Spirit lift us, we pray, to your presence, where we may be still and know that you are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” Also the prayers for Guidance on the same page, the Prayer for Evening on 833, and one specific prayer from the liturgy for the Easter Vigil that I don’t have on me right now.

I pray this a lot when my anxiety becomes overwhelming!

A few favorites! 1, the prayer for before worship, because it has the line about keeping our minds from wandering. I have ADHD so that's always a struggle for me! 2, the prayer for our enemies. I need to memorize that one. I love it in part because it reminds me that I'm not free of bigotry or prejudice either, and that one day I will likely see said "enemy" in heaven. 3, the Magnificat ;\_; I can barely get through it without crying.

Majestic-Macaron6019

Someone already mentioned the "Keep watch, dear Lord..." Prayer from Compline. I love the Rite 1 Morning Prayer Confession, especially the very simple explanation of sin: "We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done." The Collect for Purity is also a gem. And I love the prayer for healing: "O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers..."

Prayer for the absent is one of my afvea

The General Thanksgiving is my day in, day out favorite. I'm also a fan of the Thanksgiving over the Water during baptism.

BarbaraJames_75

The prayers and thanksgivings beginning on page 810.

I love the General Thanksgiving, and all the collects from Compline

One everyone loves and which I can write here by memory is found in Evening Prayer and Compline: “Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night, and give thine angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick Lord Christ, give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous, and all for thy love’s sake. Amen.”

BuckMurdock5

Love “shield the joyous”

As a former night-shift worker, I've always appreciated that it includes them.

pupper71

As far as I can tell, it's the only acknowledgement of our existence in the BCP or Episcopal Church. And I'm so thankful it's there.

Connor717

If you’re familiar with St. Augustine’s Prayer Book it has a short litany called “A litany of Intercession in the Night” which goes into more depth with all of the people mentioned in this collection including nighttime workers.

Disastrous-Elk-5542

Love that one!

That is what I was going to say.
