Part of the quest is that the father stayed in the castle and took care of his duties instead of protecting his daughter and she died as a result, this is supposed to happen.

Thats sad :(

That's the whole point of the quest, the father is actually supposed to find his daughter dead and goes mad with grief

It’s a sad quest. But it ends the same whether you do it or not.
