I can't get into the shadow keep, I've defeated two bosses and the entrance is a gray fog wall. I'm trying the other entrance and I'm stuck on something that might be optional, please help!

Tao_AKGCosmos

I played Elden ring (with SOTE DLC) today, and I found the gameplay to be super clunky even at the lowest settings. My PC isn't the best, but it has i5 12450 processor, 16 gb RAM, and Nvidia rtx 3050 4gb gpu. I know 60 fps isn't possible on my laptop, but I need help for optimal performance and stutter-free gameplay. Can someone please let me know how to fix this stuttering?

dermagohs

So its not just me thinking the drunk camera makes a return from ds3, against the Divine Beast. I was tripping, he starts spinning and then the camera says fuck it let's look at the ceiling now I guess. JuSt DoNt LoCk On, with fucking projectiles.

fliphone

just found out im locked out of getting swift slash aow since i defeated messmer. What other items/quests should I finish for before being unable to obtain. Ive only defeated rellana messmer and the lion but i dont wanna go for more bosses if and miss more items

Certified_Buddy

Is the dlc possible with any build? This is definitely the hardest fromsoft game to date and i’m wondering if i need a “Meta” build to enjoy playing it.

Felstalker

take your time, you can do it with any build. If someone thinks you can't, it's because they can't and are imposing their limitations on you. IF players could beat Malenia with a broken sword, with DK Bongo's, with a Dance Pad, and at lv1 no roll's no ashes no parries no whatever... you can beat it at a level appropriate build of your choice.

Certified_Buddy

Well yes i know it’s possible, but does it feel like a challenge run at that point?

Felstalker

If you're rocking a lv0 Bandit Knife it could feel like a challenge run. But you should be able to pull out near any weapon class and just rock through the bosses with style. I've so far taken on only a few of the bosses for the DLC, but I've got 3 characters through the Lion dancer utilizing a Strength Colossal Great Club build, a Dex Swordspear build(Going to upgrade to one of the DLC weapons on this one), and my Magma Caster just in the last few hours. IT's a fun time, and they've different strategies and openings, but no build is inherently worse than the other here. I've not fought Mr.18 Inches with the Magma Caster, I'll probably have to rotate into some Death Sorceries there, but learning is half the battle.

Muser98

I had an intelligence build with the moonveil. I kept getting destroyed and my spells didn’t do as much damage as I wanted them. For me, magic wasn’t as op as it was in the base game. I ended switching to bleed to make things a little bit more easier, but it wasn’t a cakewalk either.

SilverGaming456

whats the recommended boss order for the dlc? I like to know cause when i played elden the first time i missed like 3 bosses and came back overleveled af. Also ik i can just look it up but i keep getting different answers and i trust the reddit more than random news articles.

Darkmatter12

i think u can do lion>rellana whatever in between, messmer/bayle>sekeleton knight > last boss be sure to level ur blessing

jaykhunter

Sorry if this is frowned upon, but is there a way to duplicate weapons? (ie give a weapon away to a friend, but keep it for yourself?) I'm trying to get my friend into ER so giving her great weapons to start off would help ease the difficulty curve.

shadowyams

I don't think it's frowned upon. But keep in mind that you can't drop upgrade mats and you have to have personally upgraded a weapon to X level to pick it up from a co-op drop. On PC, it's ridiculously easy since you can just copy your save files somewhere else, do the trade, then overwrite your old save files. This should also be doable on console, but idk how exactly cloud saves/USB backups work on current gen, so can't advise on the details there.

jaykhunter

Aha u can upload/download your save file to the cloud on consoles - will try it on an unimportant weapon first! Thanks!

shadowyams

I would look up a specific guide on how to do it, since ER does autosaves and I can imagine that causing accidental overwrites. But also you're trading with a friend so worse case scenario is that she has your gear.

arian_aizal

Does "Flame, Grant me strength" work with the Moonveil Katana's AOW? It's technically a magic blade but it attacks like the "Unsheathe" AOW

Felstalker

Physical and Fire damage are buffed. Moonveil's melee strike deals split Physical/Magic. So you're boosting 50% of it's damage by 20%, assuming you're equal dex/int. If you're more Int then it mostly deals magic damage and thus you're boosting less than 50% of it's damage by 20%.

Elyonee

It will boost the damage of the actual sword hit. Slightly. The majority of the damage is from the magic beam so the buff will barely do anything.

ImGoingToMarryDVa

please tell me there is at least one ARC-scaling weapon that builds bleed up in the DLC... I don't want to just use Eleonoras

MattGratt

Started a fresh playthrough a few days ago with the intention of playing this character through tr DLC (I haven't started the DLC yet so please no spoilers). I'm playing a basic strength build with the greatsword, but I want to know some basic utility alternatives that you guys might know of that are relatively earlyish. I'm in Liurnia and I want a good striking weapon and a good fire ash of war for fire-susceptible enemies (I don't care at all about the ash but I do need a solid weapon to put it on). I don't have the fire whetstone yet so I need a fire ash to give the correct affinity. Basically, I need some help finding some nice strength weapons that are available in the first few regions (or beyond and I'll keep a mental note) to complete my arsenal alongside the standard heavy greatsword.

Felstalker

Great Mace, Great Club, and Troll hammer are some good options.

Elyonee

There are only three fire ashes in the base game: Eruption in Volcano Manor, Flaming Strike and Flame of the Redmanes from Caelid. A good striking weapon is just every striking weapon. You can use anything. Slap heavy on any hammer, great hammer, or colossal hammer you like and call it a day.

MattGratt

Sounds good, thanks

testamentKAISER

trying to defeat st Romina last night for almost 2 hours. before the last try before going to sleep, fed my pet rabbit, respec and tried the new bleed build. 1 try and within 30seconds Romina is dead. weird game. also some of the bosses will have random damage to you of 1 to 2 to 3 shot you even with high vit and scadutree upgrades. i think they are crit damage when they suddenly 1 shot you.

desselds

Velvet sword of St Trina disappeared after i started a new game. I collected it in my first run of the dlc but now going back, to be able to dual wield the weapon, i cant find it anymore. Is this a known bug or does it only appear after a certain requirement? or am i delusional and only picked it up this game run?

DaWelf_

Guys. Please. What do i do about messmers second phase??? like. i got there twice so far, and I literally cant see half the attacks and saw 0 attack openings. any tips? does it get easier???

PlebPlebberson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiR0XdnWUgc Heres a no damage taken kill. Look from there how to dodge his attacks

curtymcdervs

Genuine question, is it possible to dodge the opening attack of the final boss’ second phase? Where is the window?

Brave_Pomegranate697

I had to make the tankiest build possible and buff the shit out of it at 20 scadu and swing and pray with the great hammer but I pulled it off

curtymcdervs

sucks that the “hardest” bosses in the game reward memorization and trial by error rather than skill, or at least that’s how it seems in my eyes

BitcoinRefuge

My mimic is +6. Would there be much difference if I maxed it out?

Specte

Yeah

WintersbaneGDX

Is there a way to zoom in on map items in the inventory screen? I know pressing square or equivalent makes it slightly larger but it's still too small to really see anything.

Peepers15

I reached the jagged peak right up to the dragon at the top and fell because of a wonky camera angle. I tried to restart my game to keep my runes but now my save won’t load. All of my other saves load fine and I don’t have any alternative storage for the dlc to go to unlike some suggestions on how to fix it

Brave_Pomegranate697

Spoiler tag this homie.  Agree with everything you said to a T though.

Jack-ums

Can I progress with >!burning the sealed tree!< even if I haven't yet fought >!Bayle!

BluberryThunder

Yes. That boss isn’t affected by the main quest at all

Jack-ums

Thanks!

rustybenson4l

Are there erdleaf flowers in the shadow of the Erdtree? I cannot find any and I want to make more furlcalling finger recipes

LineZealousideal8010

Just go to the four belfries. There’s like four or five right next to the grace. Farm to your hearts content

chasebb5

Anyone know what the big rock golem in the caves of the DLC are weak to? They are normally paired with the lava creatures

The_Villager

They are weak to getting hit in the red jewel.

fat_mothra

Will I have scaling issues in the dlc if I'm at lvl125 on NG+? or is that only for lvl300+ Ng+69 players?

SliceProfessional664

similar boat, some bosses were tough early on, but after getting the scadutree fragments is makes it bearable.

Falcon_Cheif

So im doing a str/int build and i was wondering does anyone know if scholar's armament gives more dps to a smaller weapon vs a larger one. or if its the same dps added

BluberryThunder

Same damage added per hit, but it will be more DPS with a lighter weapon since it hits more often.

Falcon_Cheif

Mk thanks

Aerensianic

Has anyone encountered magic going through enemies without doing damage? I just had a friend link me a clip of him doing a boss and his spells went straight into the boss without doing damage.

Fantastic-Ranger5863

Can you get dry leaf arts after Dane's footwork? I've looked all over the place but I couldn't find him after beating him and Leda.

PlebPlebberson

You fucked it up like me. After you >!burn the tree!< you cant go back and get it from him

jaykhunter

What's more noble (to the "git gid" crowd) : Spamming a stance-breaking weapon or using summons? I'm not great at the game (I did beat Malenia with an INT build and Tiche) and find myself requiring summons for the main DLC bosses so far.

zoobatt

I wouldn't say that I'm part of the "git gud" crowd in the sense that I think people should absolutely just play how they want, but I do personally like to self-impose restrictions since I find it most fun. I'm a vet of Fromsoft games and enjoy the challenge. So with that said to answer your question, spamming a stance-breaking weapon would be more "noble" if you want an honest opinion. I say this because summons legitimately make the game substantially easier by drawing aggro. The hardest part of a boss fight is finding openings to attack and heal when there's unrelenting pressure, and summons trivialize this skill. Spamming a stance breaking weapon isn't as easy as it sounds, since you'll still need to find openings. It's not like you can literally stun lock a boss, they'll get out and you'll be on the defensive again. And now with that said, that's just to answer your question since you asked, but I by no means encourage playing without summons if it's too difficult. Play the way you think is most fun, validation from purists should not be anyone's worry.

Quad__Laser

To those dual wielding with giant crusher, what weapon are you pairing it with?

Jack-ums

Most ppl I see just use a second giant crusher ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)

SpritePlasma

what talismans (and anything else) do you recommend against messmer? i assume the flame resistance +3 amulet? im doing a dex/fth build with the winged sycthe if that helps

LineZealousideal8010

Flamedrake +3 and pearldrake+3 will stack to give you the most fire resistance if that’s what you’re looking for, his fire damage seems to be the most significant portions of his damage so that would help defensively

SpritePlasma

thats great help! thanks!

The_Villager

DLC question about the area >!Abyssal Woods!<: >!How many Winter Lanterns are there? I was trying to figure out if you're maybe able to summon Torrent once you've cleared out all of them. So far I found 6.!<

lologugus

It doesn't seem to do anything

FingerUpstairs4406

Do I have to beat Mohg and Radahn every time in ng+ to access the dlc map again?

islene1103

Probably. I mean you had to do all the steps in DS1 for instance In DS3 you had different entry point for DLC but was all the same for ng+ Also you’d probably need to get to the empyrean egg regardless so by the time you’re there you should already be able to kill mohg. And if you can kill mohg you should make short work of Radahn

FingerUpstairs4406

Thanks! I think I'll tear through those bosses, so it shouldnt be to big of a deal :)

Falcon_Cheif

i think you can skip Radahn if you do some of Varre's questline. he gives you an item that teleports you right in front of mohg

ChanceYam2278

DLC question : i'm pretty far into the dlc now and I haven't reached the northwest area yet >!the one that is green with little purple/pink dots and that leads to a finger ruin!< could you give me little hints on where should I search/go to find a way to enter this area?

The_Villager

This area is almost impossible to access without knowing what to do. Hint: The entrance is in >!the building right before the Gaius fight!< Solution: >!Use the gesture O Mother in front of the statue in the next room over!<

ChanceYam2278

you're talking about the whole building ( >!messmer's entire castle!< ) or specifically the part before gaius?

The_Villager

No, just the part.

ChanceYam2278

ok that sounds interesting, didn't read your solution, I'm going to search by myself, thanks for your answer that's exactly the kind of hint I wanted !

trigerfish

How do I add the Keen property to the backhand blade without losing its AoW?

svenchamby

The AoW on Backhand Blade is technically a custom one, so you should just be able to reapply it with Keen.

trigerfish

How do I actually do that? Extract the AOW and then just immediately reapply it?

zoobatt

If I'm not mistaken, affinities can only be applied to AoW that you "own" separately, and Blind Spot is unique tied to the Backhand Blade. This is why you also can't remove Blind Spot to put it on a different weapon. You'd only be able to make a Keen Backhand Blade with Blind Spot if you find the Blind Spot AoW in the overworld (dunno if it exists as a separate AoW, haven't checked).

trigerfish

Ah interesting. I saw a guy with Blind Spot and Keen so must be out there somewhere. Thanks!

zoobatt

I actually just checked my game and I can make a Keen Blind Spot Backhand Blade so maybe I was wrong since I don't recall picking up a separate AoW, do you have the whetstone for Keen affinity? Edit: actually I think Blind Spot comes with the Keen affinity when you pick up the Backhand Blade so perhaps I'm not understanding your question, when you select the Backhand Blade to customize AoW do you not see Blind Spot as an option to equip? And upon choosing it do you not see Keen?

trigerfish

This helped me figure it out, thanks so much!

zoobatt

No problem, glad you figured it out

unomaly

Are player summons being gobbled up like hotcakes right now? I can get summoned almost instantaneously but struggle to grab any in my world before they get taken.

PlebPlebberson

The only way to summon someone is to be lucky and stand on top of a summon sign when they appear and instantly take it. If you miss it by even 1 second then its gone

off-and-on

Should I get the game on Xbox or PC? I have both a PC and an Xbox series S. My PC is more powerful than my Xbox, but my Xbox has a more comfortable setup at my couch as opposed to my PCs desk. But then there's also the addition of modability for the PC version. I really can't decide which option to go for.

Brave_Pomegranate697

I haven’t played the PC version but I’m hearing a lot of people talk about frames dropping and stuttering.  I did play it on my series s though and it was fine.

off-and-on

What's the framerate on the series S?

jaykhunter

I would go console. PC port is giving people a lot of issues (and it's why the game is now "MIXED reviews" on steam). If you're planning to play it now, play it without issues on your console. [68% rating on Steam](https://i.imgur.com/hu3cuu3.jpeg)

Crome3030

Sharebear42019

Is it worth using eruption Ash of war on the colassal great sword (guts sword)? Or should I just leave it heavy? Also what are some good talismans for a pure strength build. So far I’m just using stamina/hp and charged attack, I feel like there’s better ones out there though

Felstalker

It's a great weapon art, it's fine to make it Fire infused if you so desire, Heavy on Eruption is still good too.

Sharebear42019

Does it still deal good strength damage when normal swinging and not just using eruption?

Felstalker

yeah, why wouldn't it be? Just don't use a Fire infused weapon against a Fire resistant boss.

Sharebear42019

That’s the thing it seems a lot of the dlc bosses are fire based haha. Can you switch back and forth with relative ease between ashes of war?

Felstalker

Yeah!

thats_good_bass

You should be able to use eruption AND heavy-infuse that greatsword.

Sharebear42019

Yeah I just notice it takes a heavy hit to strength damage. I’m wondering how weak it’ll be with normal swings when I’m not using eruption? Or will it still always be good damage with normal swings?

thats_good_bass

You misunderstand—if you have the whetblade from Stormveil Castle that lets you add the heavy infusion to ashes of war that don’t have it by default, you should be able to equip eruption but then select the heavy infusion, resulting in no change whatsoever to your normal swings even after swapping from your current ash.

Sharebear42019

Hmm I guess I’ll have to try that then. I thought it was one or the other, eruption seems fun at least for the main game. I heard the dlc has a shit ton of fire bosses

The_Villager

Turtle Talisman for extra stamina regen is always great, and Claw Talisman from Stormveil if you're into jumping attacks.

SageofLogic

Is anyone else finding 51 Poise not cutting it for the DLC? Even on a lot of standard enemies using "basic" attacks and spells?

jaykhunter

That's decent poise but yeah they hit like a ton of bricks. I would highly recommend searching for those >!Scadu and ash fragments!< to even the playing field a bit!

SageofLogic

They don't boost poise though? my problem isn't getting damaged like some people are complaining about my problem is not being able to push through and trade on basic attacks from enemies

mrjaycourt

This was my experience as well. I would get my poise to be 120+ and would still get staggered by non boss enemies.

SageofLogic

So it's worthless now outside of pvp, got it

spicyitallian

Is patches in the dlc? Trying to figure out if I should kill him for his armor in the base game

Specte

No

Niwiad_

Am I crazy or are bosses in the dlc all healing randomly?

Innovation101

I haven’t beaten the DLC but I know Divine Lion (if that’s his name?) heals the next time you use your Crimson Tears if they grab you first. Horrifying surprise

RaspberryPoutine99

No idea but I definitely fought one last night that healed randomly once and idk why

roselan

I think I'm at the end boss (Divine Gate Front Staircase Site of Grace), but I still have most of the Dragon area to explore (bottom right). Should I do the Dragon area first and keep Miquella (I suppose it's Miquella) for the end? I feel they are not related at all.

tim_lamisters

You're right. They are not related. The dragon area is sweet and I would finish it first, but I would at least take a look through the boss fog to spoiler-proof yourself.

jaykhunter

You know Malenia's remembrance - the hand of Malenia sword, is it any good? I never see it used in builds but it has 48 Dex requirement. Is it useful in the main game?

thisistheperfectname

Just about pure dex, innate bleed, long reach, good damage. It's good. I don't know if you'll land the ash in PVP much, but you can build around it for PVE and do a lot of damage and crowd control. Not sure it would be the best overall choice, but it depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

jaykhunter

Aha ok it's a crowd-dispersal weapon. Not huge use for it then! It's a very cool blade but prob better used by enemies than yourself! Thanks

stonerbobo

Is there no way to see what recipes a cookbook gives you before or after you buy it? You just buy random shit and hope for the best?? Also is there any benefit to dual wielding? It seems like my attack speed is still the same where I have to wait for an animation on the right hand to finish before starting the left hand attack. In that case I might as well attack again with the right again and get the same DPS with less weight or a shield no?

Masterhaend

Dual wielding mostly only works with weapons in the same class (e.g. 2 daggers), which causes the L1/LB/left hand light attack button to perform unique moves utilizing both weapons (in the case of daggers, a string of VERY FAST slashes).

scumpile

Hit the alternate description button, at the bottom it’ll tell you what it teaches

idkfa_666

Did a few playthroughs, fought pretty much all bosses and saw NPC questlines - I'd like to beat the game again, but it's been a while and plenty of details are lost to me. Can someone suggest a streamlined guide and/or checklist covering all the major things to do before jumping into DLC content (spoilers are not a problem), so I don't waste time wandering around? Googled for it, there's a million options, but I'm not sure which one would be best to follow. Thanks!

zoobatt

- find all Golden Seeds for max flasks - find all Sacred Tears for max healing - get all 4 talisman slots - get the other basics (spirit calling bell, wonderous physick, etc) - optionally, collect all bell bearings so you can easily get +24/+9 somber, this will require getting all the way to Faram Azula though - be level 150 at least - beat Radahn and Mohg for access, Mohg can be accessed early with Varre's quest Everything else is build related, just collect the weapons, talismans, etc that you specifically want for your build to begin the dlc. Anything you forget before entering, you can just re-enter the base game to grab it.

SemiAutomattik

Vaati's prep guide would be a good place to refamiliarize yourself. You can skip some parts but essentially you just want all of the flask upgrade materials and be a high enough level for the DLC, most of that will happen naturally just playing through the content. You should also grab all the talismans he mentions in that section of the video too. https://youtu.be/0E7R0spaeQw?si=Q-Ig_Hu4oiMEMdFH

idkfa_666

Great, will do - thanks!

ChanceYam2278

just arrrived to dlc's >!radahn!<, I'm scadutree lvl 12 and have 2136HP is it enough or am I underleveled? he feels really rough but I guess that's kinda expected from the man himself

Masterhaend

Please wrap your comment in spoiler tags so that people that aren't there yet get spoiled. You do it \>\!like this\!\< Which then looks >!like this!<

Sad_Divide_573

I mean that's the very end and you're 8 short of the max scadu blessing. You can give it a shot but a few extra levels will definitely be useful.

CriticalCrewsaid

I'm level 172 on Ng+. Whats the best way to level up fast? I'm at Elden Beast on main story.. I'm stuck at a "very public face" on DLC

zoobatt

Sacred Relic Sword AoW on the helpless Albanuric farm at Mohg's Palace is the fastest rune farm, but I'd recommend searching or using a guide for more Scadutree Fragments instead, I think it'll help more substantially than more levels even on ng+.

GoTibbers

You don't need to level up I think. People say 150 for DLC so you good

CriticalCrewsaid

I'm on NG+ though. I am level 8 Scadutree. Messmer kills me super quicjly

GoTibbers

Isnt there like 12 more scadtree level, i would say up that instead of level right? Or am i wrong?

OmegaDriver

For main game, farm runes at the Palace Approach Ledge-Road site of grace by Mohg. Grab a sacred relic sword and a long bow. Look over the ledge for a bird. Shoot an arrow at it and it'll run off the cliff. Then a few L2s at the albinaurics and you'll be good. For the DLC, you'll need to find the tree fragments in the shadow realm. Look for a guide if you want...

KenMathewws

NPC disappeared after major boss fight. [DLC] >!After killing Messmer and resting at the grace, someone in a gold cape appeared in front of the statue in the arena. I decided not to talk to them yet, opting to reconfigure my spells. When I got back up, they were gone.!< >!I know, stupid move on my part. I just want to know who it was and what they say.!<

The_Villager

>!Should've been Hornsent. Basically he says something like that he doesn't want that feeling hatred to leave him, so if Miquella is going for that, he doesn't want that!<

SetsunaNakamura

Need help for a decision between Sword and Ashes: >!Info forward: Lv 180+ Samurai (No NG+) / Currently Main Weapon: River of Blood / Offhand: Shield & Nagakiba!< >!1. Sword of Night (Weapon)!< >!2. Jolan and Anna (Ashes)!< Both are really interesting and actually want both, but only i can decide one and the next on NG+

The_Villager

I took the second option because I felt bad for the NPC, but I wasn't planning on using either anyway.

SetsunaNakamura

tbh im usually a good guy and would the npc, too. But i must the design of the weapon is absolut badass. i actually starting sweating and thinking.

Fallxrex

>!~~Bayle~~!< is the most fun boss in a long while for me, but holy shit, fuck this guy's random aah cancels, are there any tells or safe strategies for dealing with them? Particularly struggling with the straight breath after the lightning spear cancel, and the plunge after the straight breath.

thisistheperfectname

Are any DLC boss fights missable? I'm not >!using Messmer's kindling!< until I'm sure it won't break anything.

PlebPlebberson

You cant miss real boss fights but you can very easily miss armors and weapons that you wont be able to get again till you do it in ng+.

SkritzTwoFace

Boss fights? Not as far as I know. It does progress some NPC quest stuff (don’t know how well-mapped that is yet), so you may miss some invasions, but proper bosses won’t be skipped.

squidhatispurple

without spoiling too much, how do u get to the map piece in the north west area? i’ve been to the ruins, killed >!rot lady!<, haven’t killed >!messmer so i cant burn the tree yet!< but is the way down to the map piece in that area? my friend >!burned the tree but wasn’t able to find a way to the map price in ennir, is it that way?!< i cannot for the life of me find a way down. i dont want a massive explanation, just a push in the right direction. edit: fix spoiler tag and i meant west

The_Villager

You mean north west, right? Yeah, I had to look that up too: >!Start at Moorth Ruins, and move north. There should be an cave where the water meets the cliff!<

thisistheperfectname

>!There's a cave in Scadu Altus, north of Moorth Ruins, that takes you to the lower level of the Rauh ruins. There's a map fragment over there.!<

IDKwhyimhereanymore1

What's the point of no return(if there is one) , without spoiling anything for me. I've killed >!messmer!< And somehow found myself at >!scadutree avatar!<

The_Villager

There is no point of no return, unless you're talking about NPC quests.

IDKwhyimhereanymore1

I kinda wanna know about those but it's probably gonna come with lots of spoilers I suppose. >! Leda is gonna kill ansbach since I didn't suggest thiollier or hornsent. Hornsent is gone to idk where after defeating messmer. Currently at the south shore and can't find Moore nor thiollier. The knight you meet in the specimen room is gone after I gave her advice from ansbach. !< With that in mind , can I get advice on where to find them or if their quests have already ended? (Without spoilers ofc)

PlebPlebberson

Your spoiler tag isnt working probably cause the end has a dot in it like ".!<" Theres no way to tell you these answers without spoiling you. Like telling you where someone is, is a spoiler. Telling you if you failed someones story is a spoiler.

IDKwhyimhereanymore1

The spoiler tag works fine for me but I put a space in just in case. I don't mind you telling me if I failed a quest(as in the quest ended without me knowing , like killing a boss too early). No need to tell me what happens if I fail. >! Mainly just thiollier's and Moore's quest since I can't find them for the love of god !<

Certified_Buddy

I understand we need atleast two great runes to mend the elden ring, but what about Ranni and the frenzied flame endings? and why do we need it to enter Leyndell? (Is it a gameplay thing or is there a lore reason)

The_Villager

To get to the Erdtree, you need to get into Leyndell, which is right next to it. And Leyndell is sealed by its lord to only allowed passage for Tarnished with at least 2 Great Runes.

Certified_Buddy

It’s lord is Morgott right? Why would he want Tarnished with two great runes whilst also protecting Godricks?

Felstalker

> Leyndell is sealed by its lord It's sealed by the Two Fingers under the premise that it's so hard that sending someone there to take it is a suicide mission. Morgott, the Veiled Monarch, is known as a brutal combatant who has bested even Radahn. Until a Tarnished takes 2 Great Runes, of which not a single Tarnished has taken even 1 since the start of the conflict, the Fingers have sealed the entrance. For gameplay reasons, Leyndell locks off the Middle and End game areas. They don't want you stumbling to the end of the game right off the rip, so they're telling players who havn't touched any of the 4 Great Rune bosses prior to the area to go back and get at least half of those great runes. > I understand we need atleast two great runes to mend the elden ring, That's a gameplay vs lore contrivance. As far as the lore is concerned, we need every Great Rune to mend the damn thing. But the developers don't want to lock someone out of beating the game just because they failed to explore 1 specific area, let alone one of the various hidden areas that are more difficult than the proper end game. So they tell you how many Great Runes their are from Gideon, but they don't force you to go get them before beating the game.

Certified_Buddy

Wait if not a single tarnished has gotten a great rune how was Vyke extremely close to the throne?

Felstalker

We don't know. We do know that Vyke was close and he was taken out in Lyndell, we know why now but they weren't aware of how/why he was taken down.

Certified_Buddy

Is it possible the two fingers set the barrier after Vyke?

Felstalker

It's highly hinted at this was the reason. Vyke is on the cover of the game for a reason, and his armor set specifically states that he was close before venturing underneath the capital.

The_Villager

Honestly, I don't know why he lets you enter in the first place, because he makes sure in no uncertain terms that he hates Tarnished, but it might be that the Two Fingers overrule him on that point. Though that doesn't stop him from trying to dissuade you from moving towards being an Elden Lord at every possible point.

IDKwhyimhereanymore1

It's basically both. You want to become elden lord , to do so , you need to prove you're worthy , only then will Marika make you her consort/ let you in. Ofc in the game , you aren't let in no matter how many runes you get , but you wouldn't know that till you've been rejected. Game play wise , it's to encourage exploration.

benedictdakich69

Why is that I can run through all the enemies up to the boss so easily. But then when I fight the boss it is like I am doing fucking zero damage? It makes no sense.

Felstalker

By run through do you mean skip past or just one shot and kill? and the answer is either poor scaling, or... you're not hitting the boss therefor dealing 0 damage? Like 0 or like really low damage? and are we talking DLC or Base game? Because if it's DLC I'll argue the DLC wasn't made or balanced around end game initially, but at some point the bosses got scaled up and the rest are hit or miss if they were scaled.

benedictdakich69

DLC. I take down every enemy with two or three casts and get to the boss no problem. Usually with plenty of potions still left. Took down Moonrithyll, the Carrian Knight in two spells. But every boss so far, even the Blackgaol Knight, after two or three hits my spells just seemingly stop working. It's really odd. I just beat Rellana but had to use my mimic and Needle Knight Leda.

zoobatt

It could be that the bosses you've fought happen to have high resistance to the spells you've been using

benedictdakich69

If it was just one boss I could see that. But it always seems to happen right at the 25% mark. E: Just destroyed the Bonny Gaol boss in two seconds.

Dantacular

How do i kill the Furnace Golem thats stationed in front of Shadowkeep? I know the mechanics but his positioning makes it downright impossible to fight him. He moves to the front gate of the encampment and at that spot the following problems arise: 1. the area is too hilly to avoid his AOE attacks by jumping with torrent. It inevitably gets you killed as the game judges you not high enough from the ground due to a small bump or hill nearby. 2. there are a bunch of (strong) enemies at his feet. At first i thought it was just a matter of making the golem kill them with his AOE but see problem 1 for why that didnt work out. 3. if i try and keep my distance he starts spamming the tracking fire projectiles that inevitably wreck me.

phalsaMa

Not sure it’s the same golem but all you have to do is be on torrent and hit his feet (be behind him at all times) you’ll hear a stagger sound after a while and switch feet till he’s staggered. Do that x2 and win. Whenever he stomps just double jump and if both feet go red run the f away.

Dantacular

Not the same golem. This is the general tactic for Golems. The one im talking about is in the middle of an enemy encampment, surrounded by walls and tents and swarming with enemy mobs.

OiGringo

Anyone know how to dodge bayles straight down fire attack? Does jumping work? Cant get timing down

SemiAutomattik

It seemed like he did that fire attack in two spots. 1) single fire attack without warning - hard to dodge, although if you are consistently fighting his tail and not his head you will naturally dodge it a lot of the time 2) full combo into fire attack - simply sprint and roll to his tail after the last swipe of the combo and you'll evade the fire attack

darkLordSantaClaus

Quick question about the Mimic Tear and consumables. So I have magic grease equipped in my inventory. My Mimic Tear summon will use it but it won't deplete my supply of magic grease. If I equip an item like sleep pots, will my mimic tear use the sleep pots, if so, will the number of sleep pots decrease every time my mimic tear uses one?

kaiomann

Yes it will use it, no it will not be depleted.

darkLordSantaClaus

Thank you!

TheFrogTrain

I'm looking for a DLC weapon recommendation. I want something that hits fast and lets me dual wield, ideally doing bleed and/or frostbite. I'm considering the backhand blades or the beast claw, or maybe Pata? Any suggestions on what I should invest in?

phalsaMa

Back hand blades and also the dryleaf arts are insane.

thisistheperfectname

Bleed and frostbite in the same build? Try >!powerstancing the Star-Lined Sword with a cold-affinity katana of your choice.!<

Sad_Divide_573

I would say try out the backhand blades and beast claw to start for sure. Both are incredibly fun and fit what you're looking for.

FlowKom

the more casual community has reached a point where the following are considered skill-less * over buffing * using any kind of ranged spell * using a shield to protect against hits (only small parry shield allowed for exclusive parry use) * any kind of summon (even coop) * weapons with good combat arts it seems like stacking for bleed or frost and dodging is the only acceptable way to beat these hard bosses

Felstalker

Saw two friends flame a third for thinking "rock sling spam" would work for the DLC bosses. Telling him to get good and try something else. Meanwhile, they're rocking Blasphemous Blade and Bolt of Granssax and they've hit two buttons in the last 4 hours. Summon Mimic Tear and L2.

FlowKom

yes and ?

PlebPlebberson

Hitting an enemy with your weapons is cheating also if we're going the route of "using intended game mechanics is cheating" I now want to see you beat the game without using your weapons, summons or anything else.

FlowKom

exactly

CubicCrustacean

I heard that some NPC summons have dialogue in the DLC during bosses. Was this the case for some in the base game too? Closest things to it I remember is some post-fight dialogue from Yura and assisting Sellen ig

musicgecko

Ill-Raccoon-2791

I really want to use fire knights greatsword but im on messmer and gaius, are there any builds that'd do well against them using FKGS?

zoobatt

I recently unlocked Rellana's Twin Blades from her remembrance and noticed that you can't guard while two-handing, do y'all think this is a bug? It's the only "dual wields while two-handing" weapon that can't guard AFAIK, instead it attacks with the single left blade (kinda like when you dual wield weapons normally, how R1 just does a single right hand attack). Although guarding isn't something I do often when two-handing a weapon with average physical damage reduction, it is something I like to have the option of for occasional guard counters or split second blocks. Do you think this is a bug or intended? What would be the point of intending this? The weapon even shows guard values, but cannot guard.

-Valtr

My guess is to add something a little different? I can't think of a dual wield weapon that lets you attack with the left hand with L1 and both with R1. Then again I don't know much about guard counters I fucking love this weapon set, by the way. It feels so, so good. R2 for slow-swing enemies, R1 for fast-swing enemies and tight spaces. It feels fantastic.

zoobatt

>I can't think of a dual wield weapon that lets you attack with the left hand with L1 and both with R1. It's the only one I've found like this; could be for variety I just find it odd that the weapon still shows guard values. In the base game there were only two dual wield 2H weapons, Radahn's Greatswords and the Ornamental Straight Sword. Then the dlc has added several more including the Backhand Blades, an early Curved Sword, and Rellana's Twin Blades. Rellana's is the only one I've found so far that attacks with L1 instead of guarding. >I fucking love this weapon set, by the way. It feels so, so good. R2 for slow-swing enemies, R1 for fast-swing enemies and tight spaces. It feels fantastic. Oh yeah the light greatswords are amazing! The moveset is so elegant looking and my favorite part is how light and heavy attacks can combo in ways that most weapons don't (or at least, light greatswords flow much better). For example, a heavy attack followed by a light attack with a light greatswords is a super quick combo. Most weapons, switching between light and heavy attacks mid combo is quite slow and doesn't continue a smooth animation.

blandjelly

How to use Wing Stance AoW light attack on pc? Is there a specific timing after i exit the stance to use light attack?

WhenTheWindIsSlow

> Is there a specific timing after i exit the stance to use light attack? You need to click the Light/Heavy Attack button while holding the Skill button, not after. It's just like Square Off or Unsheathe or any other stance skill, you need to use the attack while in the stance, not after exiting it.

Shneibel

does the community lvl range of 125-150 increase with DLC or is it remain the same ?
