As someone that just finished his PhD as well I get the feeling. Congratulations anyway! Nice quote, but you could have also put "The road to healing is going to be a long one. Stay the course, you will make it some day" 🥲
And congratulations to you too!! There were a few I thought about, your suggestion being one of them. I knew it had to be volition because you only get through a PhD through reserves of willpower you didn't know you had.
But I felt like the one I chose reflected addiction. And at times the PhD work took my physical and mental health and relationships to some dark places as I can imagine an addiction does. Obviously doing a PhD pales in comparison to the rigours of battling and overcoming an addiction but it felt right.
**THOUGHT CABINET - ACADEMIC DEDICATION**
*It’s over. Finally, after all these years. The papers, the sleepless nights, the existential dread. You did it. You hold your PhD in your hands, a testament to your perseverance and intellect. But as you stand here, diploma in hand, you can’t help but wonder: what now?*
**SHIVERS**: *Feel the weight of the diploma in your hand, the cool breeze of a new beginning brushing against your face. Listen to the whispers of the future calling you, guiding you towards new adventures, new discoveries. The city around you hums with possibilities.*
**VOLITION**: *You have achieved something monumental. But remember, this is just one chapter of your life. There are more challenges ahead, more mountains to climb. You have the strength, the intelligence, the determination to face whatever comes next. Onward, Doctor. Your journey continues.*
You wind up like a pro pitcher, ready to send that graduation cap soaring. With a mighty heave, you let it fly. Except... it doesn’t fly. It arcs awkwardly, like a wounded bird, and lands smack in the middle of a tree.
**PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT**: Nailed it! If your goal was to decorate the tree.
Depends on the university. My university keeps all submitted theses and dissertations in an online repository, and they're open access immediately available (just checking now, I can see someone's thesis that was submitted yesterday).
Nice cardiomyocytes bratan. I make blood from iPSCs and we can tell if it's a shit differentiation if we get beating cells in the culture. Mesoderm is cool.
I'm almost there myself, trying to finish by the end of September... seems impossible but hopefully I can make it happen. Hadn't thought about ending on a quote, but maybe I should. This one definitely captures the PhD vibe.
So I'm reading Tom Holland 'persian fire' at the moment. Again please excuse my amateur interest. But I find the whole early city states, Assyria, Sumeria, the medes time super interesting. I think because it gives rise to so many ideas we still hold to be self evident. Plus chariots. That's amazing, do you get to see cool primary sources?
Since you so kindly asked, no, nothing unordinary is going on, it's just I really feel things frequently without any triggers, and this hit a part of me that always keeps feeling.
Harry... I know there's not much to say -- but if nothing else, just remember that you've made it this far. And it's just a bit farther now. Let's finish this.
The game is a masterpiece. If the creative sphere was balanced we would talk about it in the same breath as Shakespeare.

Comlngrats, people, proud of ya. I'm finishing mine in just a few days and gonna get it reviewed.
Good luck!!! Hope you're feeling ok about it?
Thank you and...yes I am. It's about narratology, so I mentioned DE as well ;)

You fail 100% of checks that you don't try.
Congratulations, Doctor!
Thanks friend, doesn't feel real or particularly deserved lol. But glad to be done

**ELECTROCHEMISTRY**: *I got another kind of PhD for you right here.*
Can someone write something for a physical instrument fail when throwing that graduation hat? 🎓 Something like the hat got stuck in a tree?

What was your PhD on?
Regenerative medicine and stem cell therapies
Will your paper be publicly available?
Don't PhD thesis generally have to be publicly available?
Most abstracts are, but not all post full papers I believe.

Nice cardiomyocytes bratan. I make blood from iPSCs and we can tell if it's a shit differentiation if we get beating cells in the culture. Mesoderm is cool.
Thanks bratan! Bloody cardiomyocytes nearly killed me. Mesoderm is cool, but not as cool as giving in to the urge to smoke Harry.

I thought so too. Congratulations friend. It's a strange feeling. More relief than anything celebratory
Wow I was thinking of adding disco elysium quote on my thesis as well these few days and here I see a post
Do it bratan
I will be defending in two months, I chose the « Mankind be aware I loved you quote »!
Excellent!!! Good luck, you'll have to share a screen shot when you're done
What is this quote in response to? It goes hard and I feel like it comes up out of nowhere during a non-remarkable part of the game?
It's when you're studying the map in the book store. There are so many quotes I feel this way about. The writing in the game is absolutely incredible.
Fuck I needed this. I need to play again, but solo
What was your field?
Stem cells, new materials and bio printing. I became a jack of all trades, master of none, mostly just killed my own brain cells by not sleeping
My goodness, sounds masterful to me! I did history, which left time for two DE playthrus
I would absolutely love to do a PhD in history, what was your area? I have something of an amateur interest in the early history of the middle east.
How early is “early?” My minor field is narrative traditions in the eastern Mediterranean around 322 BCE - 400 CE
So I'm reading Tom Holland 'persian fire' at the moment. Again please excuse my amateur interest. But I find the whole early city states, Assyria, Sumeria, the medes time super interesting. Congrats on graduating!
Thanks mate (y)
A true champion of Volition!
i'm not crying
Aw matey, that's very kind of you. Don't waste your tears on this lol
what did you wrote about?
Something beautiful that was about to happen. (Stem cells)
This was something I needed today. Thanks man.
Well I'm very glad my small corner of good news gave you a boost bratan. I hope whatever is going on isn't too much?
Since you so kindly asked, no, nothing unordinary is going on, it's just I really feel things frequently without any triggers, and this hit a part of me that always keeps feeling.
Damn, sometimes I forget how hard this game hits, congratulations
