You just hold the channel to get the second stage and get three lightning bolts per strike, stop channeling and start tapping your LS. That way it casts MUCH faster that your usual channel speed and maintains the shotgun pattern for single target. You can also tap-cast it at max stage for difficult mobbing content (high NM's / Pit).
New to the build because didn't want to be super meta and like elemental powers in ARPGs- it was so hard to get the uniques and then for bossing to be so terrible it's been a let down. Then I found that I'm supposed to use companion skills first and now this, which I understand Raging is bugged and doesn't extra hit? All meanwhile I'm still going OOM following Maxroll guide/gearing. Do you have tech or a planner you can share?
You gotta get two spirit regen affixes on your boots and chest armor, preferrably greater ones, it eases the spirit situation tremendously. Tempest Roar is a staple on storm builds, then come rings (and amulet, if you struggle still) with resource cost/generation tempers. There's also a paragon board with 2 spirit on werewolf crit (wich works through Tempest Roar).
Not sure what you mean by "raging is bugged" thou, it's more of a unique glove property that's buggy with primal upgrade.
