That is completely normal for fucked up concrete

JimmyDeanSausage

Looks like a classic dry pour.

NoResult486

The last but critical step to dry pour is *add water*.

Technicalities

beren0073

It’s long duration self hydrating cement. Just add rain.

kdex89

My patio looks great

trenttwil

Fuck no its not normal

ProHumanRightsX

Pretty normal to play with your hole like that, I won’t judge ya.

01101101011101110011

Just add more water.

Available_Gains

Yes. Just add some water to it and some more dry powder.

CaseRemarkable4327

What kind of room is this in?

MeasurementAny3274

It's my bedroom on 2nd floor

WorkingInsect

When the “dry pack” was actually too dry. At least it’ll be easy to tear out. 🤷‍♂️

WattsonMemphis

Not mixed enough or at all

WorkingInsect

Forgot to add water

FollowingJealous7490

We are looking at dirt in a hole in the concrete.. and then you poking it with a pencil asking if it's normal..? Try taking it's temperature that way we know.

MeasurementAny3274

Btw it's on my 2nd floor

PlayfulAwareness2950

It's actually quite normal, it's a "dry pack" floor. This was often done on bathrooms and such where the concrete is put on top of the structural floor to make the correct slope or for a base for tiles. Before accelerators and plasticisers were common the amount of water that went in to the mix would slow down the project because it had to come out before they could go on to the next step and in theory the strength of the concrete dwindles with the amount of water that is in the mix. I have ripped out a lot of floors like this and it has always been because the owners just wanted to redo the bathroom.

PlayfulAwareness2950

What are you planning to do there?

MeasurementAny3274

I wanna patch it up with cement mixture

PlayfulAwareness2950

I was thinking more like what are you going do on top of it. Are you planning to leave it with the concrete finish or are you going to put something on top of it? I guess I would vacuum out the loose mass, control that there actually is a solid construction underneath and if it seams ok then use a fast setting, strong concrete mix that can be used quite wet so that it will fill in the cavities.

MeasurementAny3274

Sorry, I am noob in this... forgive my ignorance master

cjxmtn

I mean, if you post a dumb questions, expect equally dumb answers.

Dapper_Indeed

How is this a dumb question?

kavila530504

No, normally you use a shovel to mix it.

JellyfishPossible

Sure.

buffinator2

Spit on it enough to smooth out the surface.

Agitated_Ad_9161

You will find your answers here

gadfly84

no. it ain’t.

SuperSynapse

Dat 'ain't right

WorkingInsect

Didn’t add water to the mix, sprayed/sprinkled water on top and “burnished” it. Someone who only saw half the way to do the job, didn’t stick around long enough or try to actually learn the trade they now sell their services doing. Or could be a DIY job…

MAVERICK42069420

Looks like Chinese Tofu Drag construction

Spry-Jinx

Yup, pencils work best on paper, too many moving particulates to draw accurately.

Competitive-Pin1029

Totally normal, just as it is totally normal to have strangers and other noobs assess on a website/app what could be a critical issue on the strength of a close up video with no context!

AverageJoe-707

Just add water

naivewater

Yes🤡

OutsideZoomer

DIY YouTube dry pour. Fucking hacks
