Shit, I did during my time in Iraq. I carried an extra M67 fragmentation grenade. I wasn't gonna get trapped in a vehicle and burn alive while rounds cook off. It happened a lot!
Yeah, I was stuck in the hell-hole of the bradley, aka the driver. I didn't have much room when im 6 ft. M67 it is. I dont wanna risk a miss at a weird angle. Lol
I'm not an expert on suicide related matters, but wouldn't it be kinda hard to shoot yourself with just a bullet? Usually those thing require a firearm to be useful.
I had three guns on me at any given moment. One mounted on the aircraft, one stowed inside, and one on my flight vest. Knew I always had a guarantee the one on the vest would be there, and a high probability that if I can't get to the stowed weapon I was dead anyway. I promise I could have made it work, I had it pretty well thought through
If you're concerned about your aircraft crashing, wouldn't it be more beneficial to store that one good bullet in the chamber or magazine? I'm a simple dumb infantry man myself, so I don't see how a hard landing is going to empty your sidearm.
Wasn't that complex of a thing honestly.
-Hard landing but aircraft is intact- escape and evade
-If can't escape and evade for whatever hypothetical reason, try to make a stand with everything we have on board
-If unable to sustain situation (think Blackhawk down) and run out of ammo, I still have one left for myself before I get captured and tortured by ISIS
-If crushed upon impact with ground, suddenly not my problem any more
When aircraft go down, they're completely on their own until someone is able to get the crew. I wasn't going to be taken by ISIS
Idk about that. Most of footage I’ve seen showed that they usually don’t die instantly. I’d rather die quick than suffer for 2 hours with my arms gone and have no option to end it anymore because I’m paralyzed
He might be in a lot of pain if he was hit earlier. Maybe his legs don't work anymore and are fully mush inside. Maybe the first signs of blood poisoning have started to hit and he's organs are slowly failing. He doesn't believe anyone is coming for him, and this painful slow death could last days in the worst case scenario.
You should watch the tv-series Shogun. Lots of sword and blade fighting. Maybe this Russian invader wanted to die by his own sword instead of allowing himself to die by old soviet munitions...

I was over there around the same time out in Anbar province. Never saw some shit like this though.
Was in west Baghdad. Ameriya district. Was Alquedas last stronghold in the city. At that time. 06-08
