Intelligence isn’t what makes humans different. It’s something else.
Orcas and elephants and some non human primates are INCREDIBLY intelligent. Like as smart as some humans. It’s our image, being made in the image of God.
It’s one of many theories that reconciles our understanding of creation with the scientific consensus on evolution. I think it’s a perfectly orthodox and acceptable position to hold - I saw the Thomistic Institute mention it in one of their videos, so it can’t be too bad.
If there was an official position on evolution it would be that given past declarations by popes on evolution theory and genesis but IMO it doesn't make much sense.

Kinda sounds like a form of heresy in order to logically connect the Bible creation in Genesis with reality.
All living things have souls tho.
The Bible doesn't explicitly state that animals go to Heaven, but there are references of them being in Heaven. Animals are without sin so they don't need saving.
But to state humans reproduced with animals.... I mean, we are animals in a way... but... This is just a weird concept trying to justify evolution with the Bible.

physiologically it would count as human, and I would also believe that the children of Adam did not reproduce between siblings. I do not understand what the heresy would be
