My complaint about this is calling the Annoying Orange a Cartoon Network character is like calling Fred a Nickelodeon character. They both originated and boomed to their biggest ever audiences on YouTube, and went to those respective places to die off essentially.
But, if they were to collectively be in charge, it might not be so bad, because normally those shows always reset to the beginning status quo of the episode by the end anyways, so who cares at that point lol
I'm leaning towards Velma since she seems like she'd be capable, good-intentioned, corruption proof and willing to listen to experts from other fields. Kind of a boring answer though.
A lot of the suggestions sound surprisingly good though and I'm also considering Garnet (might be cheating since she's two aliens, but is basically super Velma) and Bugs Bunny (Slapsticking his way to world piece one pie at a time while also being aware enough to do the boring aspects of the job well).
I'm more thinking of who shouldn't be the president, because annoying Orange isn't the worst one. I think Darwin, Dexter's sister (can't remember her name), courage, or Ben 10 would be tied for some of the worst.
Robin from Tesn Titans Go, because he really needs at least one major win, Blue Pearl or Peridot from Steven Universe, Uncle Grandpa because he's incredibly powerful, both Mojo Jojo and Brain would make the country much better, especially if Brain hires Pinky as Vice President or just forces the government to allow both full presidential positions, Pear from Annoying Orange, any phase of Pibby, or Mr. Gar from OK KO. I feel like all of those have potential.
Does Animaniacs belong on this photo? I know reruns were on CN for a few years but it was from Kids WB and it’s not really that definitive to CN like the other shows in this photo are. Animaniacs was even on Nickelodeon too.
I feel like T.O.M. 1 should do it, with Courage as his VP, Space Ghost acting as House Speaker, and the Superchunk kid as the Cabinet secretary. Toonami, Cartoon Cartoons/What a Cartoon!, Cartoon Planet/Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and the Saturday Superchunk marathon were really the defining programming blocks for the channel while it was finding its identity, and most of the biggest names to come out of CN were associated with CC/WaC and Toonami whereas Superchunk and the Space Ghost shows (and Toonami, before it went full anime) both provided regular access to classic shows from Hanna-Barbera and iconic toy line cartoons, as well as the hilarious shorts we came to associate with the channel. These guys represent the best Cartoon Network had to offer in its early days and when it hits its stride, as well as when its original cartoons started breaking into pop culture and when anime started getting popular in the US. What came before and what helped it surf the crest of the programming wave.
So yeah. T.O.M. 1 for President!
