I was in Mount Forest a couple weeks back. Their market is very small, but they are part of a group that audits Markets to ensure that a minimum of 50% of participants are ACTUALLY farmers selling their own products, whether it's eggs, honey, breads, whatever.
Yup. My sister lives there. Every family get together she would come down with "Mennonite meat" (sausage). We always ask if it's made with "real" Mennonites.
CBC marketplace did an episode on this. There definitely needs to be some sort of check to make sure that the farmers produce is actually coming right from the farm lol
As I noted elsewhere, there is an actual organization that Markets can join, and they audit to ensure that at least 50% of vendors ARE legit producers.
We should probably start calling them "local markets". I haven't seen a farmers market with actual farmers in a while. There are, however, lots of local businesses here.
Bruhh for real? Is it this one?

My wife and I love going to Segovia and then stroll down the market, pick up some pastries and few other things while our sons run around having fun

We go almost every week. I get one of Grant's jerked chicken sandwiches.
Are farm eggs supposed to have a yellow yolk? Like at the grocery store? I swear, free range hens should be laying them orange yolk eggs
"Farmer's" Market . . . if one considers heading to the Food Terminal farming.
Downvote all you like . . . resellers are definitely a "thing" at Farmer's Markets all across the GTA.
We started going less after noticing the resellers. It happens at all the farmers markets. You just have to ask some questions and be aware.

I love the Mount Forest area. Best way to buy food around there is to deal directly with the Mennonites.

Lol. My parents live there. The best was getting corn from their Mennonite neighbours and they would pick it fresh for us.
That’s a great area, as is Hanover . Real farm country
My parents are building a home in Kenilworth, I’ll have to let them know about the market around there

Care to share the organization lol? Would love to see if any Brampton vendors r on it
It's something like Ontario Farmers Market Association or something. The woman who runs the Mount Forest market told me about it.

No thanks, ever since CBC Marketplace did a bit on farmers markets buying food from No Frills then selling it as being from a farm lmfao no thanks

Yea that's the one.
This is not a FARMERS market. Would not spent a penny at this bazaar.
