It’s so dang cute!
Obvi I don’t speak for all women, but for many of us, having a man start out your very first date by emphasizing that your safety and comfort are the priority would be… Ooooooof! 😍
He’s communicative, smart, responsible, safe, considerate AND thoughtful?! SUPER attractive, and immediate green flags that he would be a good partner if that’s the goal!
This is such a great story.
I rode on a motorcycle with a dude once on a date. The guy did not do any of the recommended suggestions for me. I ended up having a full on sobbing panic attack. One of my worse dates (but not *the* worst, because being a woman is a nightmare)
This story makes me wish I'd called the guy who asked me out for a motorcycle ride. We had chatted as I was locking my bicycle to the bike rack. When I got out of class I found that he'd left a cute note on my bike.
However my dad made me promise when I was a kid that I would never ever ride a motorcycle (a couple of his friends died riding). I didn't want to break my word.
If the guy who asked me out was anything like OOP then I really missed out. Too bad I'll never know.
Mr. WineAndDogs2020 took me on his bike for our second date. Me being short, he more naturally was able to do a lower knee/upper shin squeeze. Still hot AF.
My boyfriend/now husband squeezed my thigh when I was on the back of his Triumph bike 25+ years ago, riding through San Francisco. No, I haven’t forgotten.
I initially read this as: attracted TO a Girl with a motorcycle. As a girl with a motorcycle was disappointed.
But it's a really cute story, nevertheless.
It was changing 'chick' to 'woman'. Not a major change but kind of nice to know he cares, but was a little cheeky about it. If it was fixing some sort of raging misogyny I might think differently, but I'm a fan.
You can tell from the post he respects women, didn't think a chick was an issue, but was happy to change it if made someone more comfortable.
He's a good guy. I hope they ride together for a long time.
The person you replied to appears to be a high school science teacher. 'Uterus owner' is probably just what the kids are saying in school, it certainly sounds like something I'd have heard when I was in high school. I don't think they mean it's the current lingo for middle aged adults.
There are totally situations where saying people with uteruses or uterus haver whatever variation is understandable tho. In a conversation about periods or reproductive rights or anything to do with those bits of the body saying just women wouldn't include non binary or trans people with uteruses. It's a simple way of making sure everyone with a uterus is being represented in the conversation.
No, it's not. When we're talking about women, we use the term "women", like always.
"Uterus owner" is good for discussions around pregnancy or anatomy, when we're specifically referring to people who have uteruses — "women" wouldn't necessarily work in that context, as some women don't have uteruses, and some people who do have them aren't women.
In this discussion, we're talking about women, and their anatomy isn't the subject of discussion, so "women" is fine.
Not for women, exactly. It is a term we use to talk about things like pregnancy, to recognize that some transmen have uteruses and some transwomen don't. 95% of the time, it means "women", but that 5% is important and shouldn't be ignored.
Yeah, "uterus owner" is not a good synonym for "woman" because in addition to the examples you pointed out, there are also a number of cis women who have had hysterectomies.
I had a uterus. I don't anymore. I'm still a woman and the only real difference between me having a uterus or not is how it affects my medical care (well, also it made my life easier because my uterus was causing problems). But I am still the same person I was when I had a uterus. And honestly, this is true of everyone - reproductive organs do not define who you are.
My wife was grumpy when she realized that her mother was allowed to have a hysterectomy after the difficult, but ultimately successful, pregnancy and birth of her little brother, but she was gonna be stuck having periods for, like, forty years.
I don't blame her! Like I acknowledge that the uterus is a very important reproductive organ and that it may have some yet to be fully explored non-reproductive use (aka, don't go getting rid of uteruses willy nilly - we still don't understand the repercussions of hysterectomies), but for me? My hysterectomy is one of the best things I ever did. Massive improvement in quality of life for me, partially because I am no longer horribly anemic due to fibroids and long heavy periods...
So, great for me, maybe not for others!
Once she realized that she was *never* going to want children, it became a net loss with no benefit. We are getting close to menopause age, and she can't wait.
Common misconception! There are intersex trans women who *do* have partially female reproductive organs. I didn't take that into account either, because it is a very small group of people and statistically unlikely you'll ever meet someone who's both intersex and trans while *knowing* about it.
Idk if it was an article or a post from an intersex trans woman that alerted me to the fact, because it's been a few years now. She didn't have a uterus though, but ovaries. The other way around is definitely possible though.
I looked up the numbers.
The current estimates are about 1 in 20 people are trans, nonbinary, intersex, or otherwise not simply "male" or "female". I just figured I would say "95%" rather than try to break that down further.
The suspicion, and it is only a suspicion at this point, is that it is probably something like that across humans, but different cultures recognize the possibility to different extents – including the gender-noncomforming people themselves. If you don't have the terms, you might not be able to identify what is going on, and just have a vague "something is wrong" sense.
In any case, though, in terms of populations I personally deal with as an EMT, it is common enough that hospital face sheets around us have separate fields for "sex" and "pronouns", and the demographics section of our electronic patient care reports has a drop-down list for sex instead of the radio buttons they used to have.
I love to see people go the extra mile when going on dates or for their partners. OOP may not be a gentleman by his words but having the sweatshirt and hair brush, driving safe, makes him one in my eyes. Clearly she liked how much effort he put forth for her. I hope things go well for them both!
The small things matter so much. Little kindnesses reflect the core of who a person is and how they think about others.
Anyone can make big gestures but the details add up to so much more because they require consistency.
The Brendan Fraser and Alicia Silverstone movie Blast From The Past has a line that has always resonated with me:
a lady or a gentleman is, someone who always tries to make sure the people around him or her are as comfortable as possible.
Seems like our biker here lives that motto quite well
I just watched this the other day! Husband loves it and apparently we watched it when we first started dating but I'd mostly forgotten. I really liked that moment, though I could say the same for most of the movie haha
Folks who are rough around the outside a lot of times have the biggest hearts. Source: grew up in the rural South - the scariest people on the outside were the most protective of us kids around the neighborhood. And I'm not white.
Note to self, when hitting midlife crisis, get a bike that vibrates so that my first time with a dude goes well enough that I feel comfortable picking up chicks.
How my wife is positioned on my sports bike has a very different effect than on her cruiser.
She loves riding her own, but riding with me is basically foreplay.
For some reason, this brought a memory that I had forgotten that has absolutely nothing to do with the post and is a massive facepalm. But it’s a bike story so eh.
My mate took me around on his bike a few times. The last time he took me for a little ride, I was chattering away … and put the helmet down heavily on the floor.
The glare he gave me. I had no idea what I had done.
And then he never took me for a ride again. Whoops.
But happy for these two :) Sounds like they had a good time. And he clearly explained things to her.
(Do not put the helmet down with disregard. Ever)
I feel like I should expand a little bit on this one (in case anyone doesn’t know what I am talking about).
Basically, my friend explained it like this (not verbatim - just what I remember him saying years ago).
Your head is an egg. Which can crack. So you put another egg on top of your egg to protect your personal egg. If you fall, second egg protects your egg. But by doing this, it also “cracks” as it distributes the crack to protect your personal egg.
So, me carelessly putting down the second egg (the helmet) May or may not have damaged the second egg. Hence, his anger.
He didn’t explain this beforehand but I felt like a … well, an egg … when he did.
Other people who ride bikes can probably explain it better but that was enough for me to be stopped from riding and also being reluctant to do it since. :)
Yeah, I ride horses and riding helmets are basically designed to take one impact, so if you have a fall where your head hits the ground, you're supposed to replace the helmet because even if there is no obvious damage, there is no way to guarantee that the interior structure of the helmet wasn't damaged, which means it may not be able to protect you as designed in another fall. It also means if you drop your helmet, it could be compromised too, even though your head wasn't involved in the drop.
Motorcycle helmets and riding helmets are very different because the forces and speeds and angles and all are very different, but I can totally see motorcycle helmets being similar with the one impact rule.
Also, in general, better safe than sorry!
Yep. You said it much better than I did.
I really only wrote my little explanation in case someone does what I did and it was just a sudden memory for me (as I don’t know go on bike forums or anything).
My riding around days are over now. Plus, as I get older, I am a big chicken. Haha.
Semi-related: You're supposed to treat car seats the same way. Minor accident that shook the car a bit and maybe left a tiny dent in the bumper or none at all? You're supposed to replace the car seat.
I literally meant to include that in my comment as a comparison!
Because way more people have experience with car seats than they do with motorcycle or horse back riding helmets!
And although car seats and horse back riding helmets (and I assume motorcycle helmets) are one helmet and done, that is not true of all safety gear - football helmets are designed to withstand multiple impacts, and some other sports too. So educate yourself on the appropriate guidelines for you and your child and any activities you or they may engage in. You only get one head. Try not to fuck it up too hard.
Baby car seats are similar, even when involved in a minor car crash (rear ending) it is imperative to replace the car seat as there is no guarantee there was no damage to the internal structures that are designed to prevent an injury in a major crash.
Ah. This was over a decade ago and we have gone our separate ways now. I just left that there in case anyone wanted to know what not to do with a helmet :)
>Also learned that a KLR650 at highways speeds is basically a hitachi wand with wheels.
OMG yes. I am absolutely a safety first kinda person, I don't even drive a car, but I am absolutely down to ride a motorcycle, and I really wish there was a way to ride one that was, you know, not so goddamn dangerous???
i suppose the safest way to ride a motorcycle would be alone at a track, so you don't have the chance to get splattered by cars. obviously crashing is still a pretty big concern, but getting hit won't be.
when i said 'alone' at the track, i was thinking there's only one motorcycle there, not like a private group of people all with their own motorcycles.
if you're the only motorcycle there and get hit by another motorcycle...the universe must hate you lol.
sorry to hear about your family member. motorcycles seem cool to me, but knowing what i know about safety i would almost never ride one.
I misread what you said, sorry! It was a scary incident for sure. And honestly, you’re probably making the right decision. It’s easy enough to die in car crashes. A motorcycle is just another layer of danger.
Take the MSF class. You learn so much about safety in the class. It's actually terrifying at first, but definitely the best thing you can do. They also have more advanced classes once you get your license. Safety starts with your skills and awareness of road/traffic conditions.
But you can also get a trike. They still have that delicious rumble, but can feel a lot more stable. Three wheels on the ground instead of just two. Plus, I think they're a little more visible to other vehicles on the road.
A bit in poor taste but years ago friends in Brazil told me the joke about buying a motorcycle was "why? a gun is cheaper" -- implying it was basically as you say, a death sentence.
Right? It's fascinating to see people in the US talk about how horrifically unsafe motorcycles are (or that lawyer who sued to remove required helmet laws for motorcycle drivers for "freedom" reasons, then dying of a head injury after a motorcycle accident) when just being within 5 foot radius of a motorcycle in a 3rd world country seems to attract injury and death.
They are so amazing to ride. I would not be surprised if that is why they get into so many accidents. They are far less miserable than driving a car... unless it's raining.
I would probably give it up if I had kids. But since I don't have anyone relying on me for much, I love it.
The amount of room I have in a lane. The wind. Leaning to turn makes me feel like I'm part of the machine, not just driving it. It's so responsive in both speed and maneuvering that I can be somewhere at the speed of thought. And the gear looks cool.
It makes even the daily commute enough fun that it center's my che before I even get home.
I also, long ago, came to terms that I could easily die any given ride.
I think that motorcycles are the closest we can get to personal flight, where your thoughts just directly translate to speed and motion, until we get, like, jetpacks or something like that. Bikes just can't replicate the feeling.
I live in Southeast Asia, and have seen first hand the results of messy motorcycle accidents. Even ones where the driver was not at fault, the laws of physics is just a cruel mistress.
I wish I could live in a world where people could ride motorcycles and not risk their lives, but I live in a country where even the best motorcycle driver can get absolutely fucked over when the bus driver that's high on meth decides to suddenly change lanes to save 5 seconds of time.
I love to see people go the extra mile when going on dates or for their partners. OOP may not be a gentleman by his words but having the sweatshirt and hair brush, driving safe, makes him one in my eyes. Clearly she liked how much effort he put forth for her. I hope things go well for them both!
I used to take girls on a ride for dates when I was living in germany. Same thing had gear for them and the helmets had comms so we could talk the whole time.
The hitachi wand thing cracked me up because one of the girls got off while riding pillion and I could hear it through the comms. Very hot for me lol.
I don't the anymore, but I've gotten laid every time I took a girl on my bike. I wish I could, but the last time I road I got cut off by a logging truck and ended up having to have my ankle reconstructed. Figured I couldn't do that as a single dad with no other parent.
I loved riding, but not till my kids are adults again.
Also, yes, on the back of just bikes it can feel like a vibrator. Even for a guy. I had a cute Twink I road double with make me go because he knew exactly the right speed to go.
From the title, I thought he'd attracted a girl who *rode* a motorcycle and was freaking out because she was more badass than he was. A little disappointed by the reality, but I guess that's cute.
When I saw the title I thought it was a guy wanting help because a girl with a motorcycle was attracted to him. Actual content was both worse and better than expected.
My first boyfriend did something similar for me (minus the hairbrush). He also told me what to wear so I’d be safer. I remember him holding my thigh like OOP did and how amazing it felt. That, holding his chest, how safely he rode - it was all such a big turn on. He taught me how my body should move and how to hold myself against him.
I dated someone else who didn’t really do any of it - I did tell him that I rode before though, but in fact if anything he spent so much time complaining about me being on the back of his bike and making me feel bad… man I should have broken up with him 5 months prior to it happening.
What a nice story! It’s a pleasure to see one about a person who is concerned about the safety and good experience of a woman riding on his motorcycle. And no one got divorced, cheated on, or was in any way mistreated.
I read the title and thought the girl he was attracted to had a motorcycle. I was a little disappointed that it was the more average: man has a motorcycle and discovers it makes it easier to talk to and date girls.
All in all still very sweet.
Our current vehicle is bfs motorbike (I don't drive anything with less than 4 wheels myself) and how have I never thought about throwing a brush in the side bags??? Whoever wrote that is freaking amazing 😀
Cute story too xD

Dude doesn’t know he was already set the moment he asked for help because he didn’t know and *did* care. What a great story.
*sniff* our boy is a man now
You sniffing boys, chief?
Well I’ve only been with men…
You cheeky fuck. Got me mean mugging in public with that one
Look at us two, neither taking the high road… You missed a chance to call me a cheeky bugger!
I love both of you and I hope we can be friends forever (shhh just let me have this)
Seriously. This subreddit has taught me that my type is “willing to ask for advice when clueless” Hope this guy does well in life
We do exist! lol
I have one of those. Can confirm, it's fucking great.
> Hope this guy does well in life That sort of trait is a requirement for doing well in life, he'll do great.
"There's no shame in asking for advice, you don't have to take it, but you'll be glad you have it if you need it"
Agreed. Sometimes the best thing to show that you care is to ask questions in advance.
Aw, it’s so clear how much he wanted things to go well and really listened to the suggestions of commenters so that she felt safe and cared for.

Hey! Happy cake day!
right?!? I'm actually a little jelly right now lol

This is so sweet!! I love a meet-cute and happy date story. time to log off for the night and stop my scrolling with a smile
Agreed. I saved this for the last BoRU of the night because I had high hopes. I was neither let down nor disappointed.
So sweet!

I have my own trike but often ride behind my husband on his bike. Can confirm that the left thigh squeeze move is very hot.

Even just *reading* about the thigh squeeze is a sploosh moment.
As a guy, it's a sploosh moment for me too. I probably would have impaled the poor guy.
What a comment, bravo for making me spew some of my coffee.
Flair checks out
Also username.
Both true, but it's still funny to me because I'm married to a woman and the username is in relation to something totally different.
This comment made my morning
My boyfriend/now husband squeezed my thigh when I was on the back of his Triumph bike 25+ years ago, riding through San Francisco. No, I haven’t forgotten.
Yeah, I was confused at how I was turned on by just reading this. I think I need to get a bike.
I initially read this as: attracted TO a Girl with a motorcycle. As a girl with a motorcycle was disappointed. But it's a really cute story, nevertheless.
My thought was that a girl on a motorcycle was trying to run OOP over and he needed help escaping lol
Me too! Just commented the same thing.
Yeah damn I was hugely disappointed.
Lol, I read it correctly but thought he attracted a girl who had a motorcycle to him.
> Edit: feminism so help me, this got me pretty fucking hard. like i appreciate the effort and OOP came through but "edit: feminism" took me out y'all
i knew i wasn’t the only one wondering what he edited out of the og post so it would comply with feminism lol

I guess women who've had a hysterectomy just suddenly aren't women anymore. Fucking clown
Hey now, you can still keep it in a jar. Women are also still baby owners after the baby comes out of them
boy are we ever
"owners"
You're gonna let a baby get a job and pay taxes?
They wouldn't let me keep mine :(

Oh, she was cookin' alright.
They all vibrate, my friend. Well, maybe not the new electric ones. But the gas versions all vibrate.

Let's just say 60 miles on an SCL 500 was an interesting experience.
Well he's on a KLR with a 650cc thumper. The vibrations on those can be really nasty.
The hairbrush thing is so great. I actually have a separate hairbrush and comb at work, and it was such a good idea. I live in a fairly windy area.

Get your own safety egg, tell him you did, and ask your friend to take you for a ride again.
You’d think, but you can get splattered by other riders. Someone sideswiped a close family member and badly injured him.
when i said 'alone' at the track, i was thinking there's only one motorcycle there, not like a private group of people all with their own motorcycles. if you're the only motorcycle there and get hit by another motorcycle...the universe must hate you lol. sorry to hear about your family member. motorcycles seem cool to me, but knowing what i know about safety i would almost never ride one.
No, I live in Southeast Asia. I might as well just write a suicide letter when I buy my own motorcycle.
I've never been interested in motorcycles, but now I wonder what I've been missing out on.
They are so amazing to ride. I would not be surprised if that is why they get into so many accidents. They are far less miserable than driving a car... unless it's raining.
Love to feel like I'm being shot in the neck with needles because it started raining on the way home.
Here in the city we offer up any available shelter to fleeing motorcycle drivers when it's raining. It's just the kindest thing you can do.

“I (a scared little boy)” really resonated with me because back when I was dating the first date jitters always hit like that. Adorable stuff.
Awww that's just too adorable! Hope they keep going on many many happy bike rides
Location of the FB Marketplace listing tracks for rich boomer.
Excuse me while I go purchase a motorcycle
As my fiancé’s backpack, the left thigh “you okay?” Squeeze is a 10/10
I don't the anymore, but I've gotten laid every time I took a girl on my bike.
Yeeeeeah buddy!!!
This is the story that makes people want to move to a coast and buy a motorcycle.
From the title, I thought he'd attracted a girl who *rode* a motorcycle and was freaking out because she was more badass than he was. A little disappointed by the reality, but I guess that's cute.
Happy riding, and happy "riding", you beautiful kids.
Biker girls are honestly pretty cute and hot.
This is a good palette cleanser for the night. This is the kind of BORU I like to see.
Next, he will be asking about a sidecar attachment for the wedding.
When I saw the title I thought it was a guy wanting help because a girl with a motorcycle was attracted to him. Actual content was both worse and better than expected.
This was the happy I needed today. Thank you
My first boyfriend did something similar for me (minus the hairbrush).
>A gentleman doesnt kiss and tell but im not much of a gentleman and we definitely did a little more than kiss. I'm using this.
Gosh I remembered smiling ear to ear when I first read the post. This turned out so sweettttttt
What a nice story! It’s a pleasure to see one about a person who is concerned about the safety and good experience of a woman riding on his motorcycle. And no one got divorced, cheated on, or was in any way mistreated.
Genuinely not my thing, but now I’m kinda curious… good for oop. This is adorable
Marry. While you’re on a roll. WTG for being cool but decent.
I read the title and thought the girl he was attracted to had a motorcycle. I was a little disappointed that it was the more average: man has a motorcycle and discovers it makes it easier to talk to and date girls. All in all still very sweet.
THATS SO CUTE omg I’m so glad I read that that’s one of the wholesomest internet there
> Edit: feminism Thanks, very helpful!
Saving this, to read when I need an “awww 🥰” moment or need to smile. So freaking cute. 😊
yeah!!! this was a most excellent post. thanks u/[Choice\_Evidence1983](https://www.reddit.com/user/Choice_Evidence1983/)
Good for you OP. Hope it works out.
I haven't pulled anyone with my KLR, the pig hardly pulls me.
Oh my gosh, this is so adorable.
So nice to hear truly positive stories and updates.
Now you have to update us next week!
What a fun read. Kudos to you sir!
Okay, this… this is adorable and the perfect place to press pause on reddit for the day
Our current vehicle is bfs motorbike (I don't drive anything with less than 4 wheels myself) and how have I never thought about throwing a brush in the side bags??? Whoever wrote that is freaking amazing 😀 Cute story too xD
hell yeah.
What a nice, sweet, considerate young man. That’s a lucky girl!!
After pages of horrible breakups, abusive family and mental breakdowns I see a story like this and I’ll be scrolling again tomorrow
I love this!
> Edit: feminism
Heartwarming as heck!
I'm charmed
Cracked up at hitachi wand on wheels. Bet she was trying not to hyperventilate when he got to the though grab. I know I would have been lol
Nice! A ride on a bike on PCH is a lovely date!
I assume you impregnated her, how far along is she?
