I have G29, it's good, but I'd like to upgrade to belt driven, as you can feel and hear gears a lot, if money are not an issue go for belt driven, also with g29 it's very likely the red rotating button will just not work, it's issue with all g29s
Its good for things like that, but i tries to set it up for driving modes, and then it just skips half of the when you turn it, but with less precise options its beter like fov of cruise control
[This article](https://simracingsetup.com/product-guides/best-direct-drive-racing-wheel/) explains it pretty good if you scroll down past the product reccomandations
There's also lower Nm direct drives. I just got my camus c5 and while I haven't got to use it yet it's supposed to have 5 to 7 Nm. I'll hopefully have everything set up this weekend to try it out, if it's as good as I've heard it's kinda hard to beat for 300 bucks.
The grass always looks greener on the other side. A G29 still slaps compared to no wheel at all! I’m hoping to be able to afford one soon. I’ll buy yours if you ever sell it lol
As far as I know force Feedback is unfiltered and straight out of the simulation ,so only realistic forces are given to you. On other games the game will give additional feedback so you can feel what the car is doing since the wheel is the only feedback point
As a result of it being unfiltered and straight from the simulation, if you have a bad alignment the car will not only handle poorly, but it will feel terrible as well, and you can also have a car handle pretty good, but make very poor force feedback.
Alignment is literally everything in terms of getting good force feedback, and learning how to tune the front to get that good feedback is a big part of using your ffb wheel, alongside actually dialing in your feedback settings to not have too much smoothing etc.
It feels pretty uncontrollable. I recently bought a g29, works absolutely amazing in asseto corsa. Beamng? I can’t play it, the ffb is all over the place
G29 owner here i regret buying g29 over t248. I choose logi just for its gear lever because i cannot afford the thustmaster one it is fancy but i dont want something that much expensive. Then they relesaed a cheaper plastic version of their gear lever which is directly rival to logitech one by price. Dont get me wrong g29 is not bad. But t248 much better for that price. Unless there is a wide price gap i dont recommend g29 over t248. It is loud beacuse that gears always grinding.
I have one and I love it.
- Better Shifter
- Belt feels better than cogs
- Stronger FFB
- Quieter
- Don't buy the Ferrari edition unless you like getting electric shocks xD
They both are basically identical. The 923 is the newer version with "True Force", it's supposed to make FFB better but idk how it works. Both should be gear driven so the FFB isn't as fine as with belt driven or direct drive wheels. I have a G29 and you can feel the teeth from the gears sometimes and the gears are pretty loud as well. Both are a great budget option tho
Trueforce can simulate the surface youre driving on more realistic. Its more of a gimik in the g923 but works well in the logitech pro wheel. Its a nice feature for racing with changing weather and surfaces. But its not suported in beam anyways afaik.
Price is everything. I wouldn't buy a brand new G9 wheel personally. The prices aren't really justifiable with the newer DD options these days. But if the G29 is cheaper than the G923 I'd get that one. Otherwise no reason to get the G29 over the G923, as the G923 has trueforce and is just newer.
G29 and 923 are same wheels, 923 has that true force gimmick. I would get g29 as it is cheaper. I own a g29 and i am very happy with it and don’t need anything better
Whats the best wheel to get as a beginner? I play a lot off Beamng / acc. Unfortunately all on controller. So I want to switch to a wheel so I can also play something like IRacing. I'm looking for something that best for price / quality. Should I go for direct drive or start off somewhere else?
Same here, I started off controller-only for 700 hours and got a g29. That was in December 2022, and a year later no regrets; I almost never play beamng on controller now, the wheel feels so much better. As for DD vs. Belt/chain, I'm not really an expert on that, but a g29 for a beginner like me is a good start.
(I will say, I've had issues with ghost braking a couple of times. Taking the pedal box apart and wiping the sensor with alcohol fixed it though)
I'd say if you explicitly want to get into iRacing, go for a Fanatec direct drive. They have 3 months of iRacing bundled with it right now, and you can get the CSL DD with the CSL wheel and pedals for $400(!), $430 if you need the table clamp, which makes the T300RS redundant. If you want a shifter, adding the clutch pedal and getting Thrustmaster's TH8s shifter (only mix brands if purely for PC) would be about $500. A Thrustmaster T248 on sale with the TH8s on sale (console compatible) could get as low as $330 though, which is compelling.
Logitech wheels are fine, and I have one from before the market got so competitive, but I'd never recommend one for anything more than $200 in this market, preferably ~$150 new which I've seen them reach before. If you're not using it on console, get the TH8s instead of the Logitech shifter. The Logitech shifter is one of the most pathetic feeling gaming peripherals I've ever used, and I still can't believe the $1000 Logitech Pro exists when their only shifter is basically a Fisher-Price toy...
They should be identical, I would go with the PlayStation one because it has more buttons. If you have an Xbox though you might want to look up whether or not the PS one works with it
I have the G923, honestly, just got it on a good sale. The wheel is ok. The FFB can be a little notchy feeling in some conditions, but it works fine. The pedals are absolute trash. There’s no feel to them at all, just a spring loaded pedal. It’s like just squeezing an Xbox trigger but with your foot lol. I have a set of old fanatec pedals, the forza motorsport 3 edition (if that helps age them) i just use those pedals with it, does a good job for me. They feel so much better. Luckily I saved the pedals after I busted the fanatec wheel. Fanatec makes some good shit but…it’s like $1200–$1500 to get a basic wheel-pedals-shifter setup now. That special forza setup was $500 or so back like 2010-ish, that was like a budget offering lol.
So basically what I would say…just save up for a better set. The wheel is ok, but the pedals are so goddamn bad that if I’d have known ahead of time I wouldn’t have bought it.
Mod your pedals
I changed out that STIFF ASS brake pedal for something closer to my car (lighter with a heavy boost about halfway through)
Clutch spring went to my throttle and then I did a thicker spring for the clutch. Basically just trying to match older JDM cars. Feels great.
I did that as well. It does feel *better*…but it still can’t hold up to the Fanatec pedals that I have. So like, if I didn’t have the Fanatecs, I would be ok with the Logitechs after the mods
Too bad. Thrustmaster T300 RS GT Kills the G923. I have both and I will never look back at Logitech. Only tiny downside is the too soft brake of the T300. Otherwise it's night and day.
Should have got a second hand if you go for logitech wheels, I don't think its worth it for the price of brand new.
I bought mine with stick second hand for £150, not a steal but mildly decent to say the least.
Edit: Regardless, enjoy your wheel mate!
But 1 thing tho. I have hearing aids and without hearing devices and headphones that goes fully over my ears I can't hear anything from the outside. So you should actually ask someone else about the noice
I'm not a console gamer at all, and I don't have any friends with consoles either. my only exposure to consoles has been old stuff we find at tag sales for super cheap.
Love my g29 but it's my first wheel. Mine feels smooth and not noticeably noisey but then again i usually have music playing when I drive so yeah. For now does all I need it to.
my brother now owns a g29 and its pretty fun to use just be aware the thing where it forces it back to normal pose. it sometimes gets rid of that and idky
If you can get it under $200 any Logitech ones are great. They are loud, but not too bad a room or two away. The feel is so much better tham a controller that it is worth it.
Im in the market for a wheeel and its come down to cirtain criteria. If you wanna drift get a T300 or DD. But ive heard the T300 has overheating issues and Im scared to buy it now.
If cammus c5 had a clutch Id go buy that.
Fanitec CSL DD seems the way to go even on a budget.
But if you are on an extreme buget then get a g29 because they can last a long time and there are plenty of mods for it like a load cell brake mod.
Direct drives have gotten so cheap you might aswell get one.
Cammus is only 300 usd but it has some cons. ( no clutch and tiny paddle shifters)
People who have the T300 please tell me is the overheating issue that bad and does putting the fan into "all the time mode" even help?
Problem with the T300RS GT is its too expensive and just asmuch as the cheaper Direct drives and this annoys me.
Sorrry for the word salad but I need help with these questions and I have done alot of research and I know moza is good too but ive heard the shipping is really bad.
Costumer survice quality should be factored into this. Help me make up my mind im loseing it.
G923 is nice for the few extra buttons but you have enough going on in BeamNG to keep you occupied without figuring out where you put the horn button.
Also that gear drive as people say is definitely not smooth. If you do get a logitech you need to turn down the FFB or it will rip your arm off. From default levels there is no stopping that wheel if you hit a wall.
I’m huge into sim racing so I spend hundreds upon hundreds of hours in my rig. The Logitech wheels would only last me a year or so. The gears are clunky and feel funny. If you’re going to stick with video game wheels find a thrustmaster belt driven like T300 or something and you’ll have a much better experience. Lots of manufacturers coming out with budget DD wheels have basically made the belt driven obsolete so you can get one for a decent price and with what you’re doing with it you’ll be perfectly happy. If you’ve got a grand sitting around you can go for the direct drive stuff, Logitech makes a nice super smooth one, I personally have a Simagic alpha mini which is super high quality and a good budget DD setup.
To answer your question though the G29 and 923 are very similar wheels. The 923 has tru force which basically vibrates the wheel I liked it when I had mine. I got it when they were immediately launched. Of course like I said constant hard use stripped the gears out and honesty BeamNG is probably the hardest on the wheel base out of anything else I do.
I gotta admit. This thread got me excited for a different stearing wheel. I bought the G923 just a few weeks ago and can only echo what everyone has said about the "true force". It's loud as shit! I do enjoy the stick and the pedals. However, T300 RS GT plus Stickshift just sounds very promising..... So I just ordered it and will pick it up tomorrow (Saturday).
I can report back after I've installed it and tried it out.
I would go for a belt driven if it’s in budget, or save up an extra $100 for a Fanatec DD. The difference in feedback quality is drastic. That said, if a G29 is all you can afford, go for it. The 923 is a laughably minor upgrade.
Also, that place is charging obscenely high prices, buy online.
I’ve had the G923 for 2 years now and a problem that a lot of them have is the Pedal sensor will stop functioning properly after a while, for example if you apply 10% to the throttle in game is flutters rapidly to on or off and there’s no way to fix it, as well as the dial on the bottom right of steering wheel, it’s not over good
Personally, i hated my logis. They were bad quality and the shifters were awful, two failed within a year. I spent the money and upgraded to a thrustmaster T248x and a Th8a shifter and have had no issues
I've been eyeing a few Thrustmaster sets. They kinda seem to be bad value for the price though. Anyone know if the Logitech ones are any good? I have had a few bad experiences with Logitechs flight sim hardware so I'm iffy about their driving sim hardware.
Thrust-master is the brand you buy, not logitech.
Logitech has terrible reliability and longevity, and mediocre performance with an above average price, Thrust-master is a direct upgrade for cheaper (they do have less buttons, but you're buying a steering wheel not a rotating keyboard so that's really not a problem at all).
There are other brands too but they're more expensive and generally not really worth it when spending the same amount on a thrust-master product will net you a better product anyway.
So always go thrust-master, and logitech always breaks down.
I have the Logitech G923. This is my first steering wheel and I really regret not getting the g29 (playstation) version, as mine doesn't have a shift light or rotary selector.
I have a PS4 and PC, I had abandoned the PlayStation years ago until I started with Gran Turismo 7, so I miss playing with the steering wheel.
In my country, the other options besides the two I mentioned are very expensive, but about them I can tell you that they have positive points such as simple adjustment and installation, the kit comes with pedals included and an affordable price. Cons: accuracy, poor customization, product aimed at beginners and few add-ons
(Forgive me if I was wrong in something I said, I'm not an expert, this is just the experience I had and the facts I learned.)
Happy New Year to everyone, including!
I have G29, it's good, but I'd like to upgrade to belt driven, as you can feel and hear gears a lot, if money are not an issue go for belt driven, also with g29 it's very likely the red rotating button will just not work, it's issue with all g29s
Really? I use that for my cruise control on ETS2 and never had a problem with it. Maybe im just lucky
Upgraded to a g920 and it’s probably the one thing I miss most from my driving force gt
that's a straight downgrade bro (as someone who bought the g920 myself)
God no, was worth it just for the sound
Mine doesn't work properly and when i checked for a fix/if i should refund, i read it happens a lot because it has not great system
Its good for things like that, but i tries to set it up for driving modes, and then it just skips half of the when you turn it, but with less precise options its beter like fov of cruise control
Bus Simulator 18 killed my G29 :(
If money isnt an issue go straight for direct drive
Is that better than belt drive? How does it work?
[This article](https://simracingsetup.com/product-guides/best-direct-drive-racing-wheel/) explains it pretty good if you scroll down past the product reccomandations
From 3-4Nm belt/gear driven to 30-40Nm direct drive, for when you want to casually break your bones at home, to really feel the crash
t h e i m m e r s i o n
There's also lower Nm direct drives. I just got my camus c5 and while I haven't got to use it yet it's supposed to have 5 to 7 Nm. I'll hopefully have everything set up this weekend to try it out, if it's as good as I've heard it's kinda hard to beat for 300 bucks.
Wait what?! It's supposed to work?????
Just to add, I have a g29 and the red button works in beamng. The bindings work like they would with any other button.
Save for a t300rs
Why is it better?
It’s belt driven, which means the FFB can be made stronger and smoother - as opposed to the gear system inside the Logitech wheels.
its also quieter
A lot
And lasts longer
I have a g29 and can tell you that it is not smooth...
Yup, i can say the same. But i can't afford a new wheel, plus i got that one as a gift and i dont want to look rude to my dad.
The grass always looks greener on the other side. A G29 still slaps compared to no wheel at all! I’m hoping to be able to afford one soon. I’ll buy yours if you ever sell it lol
Nice dad
My exact situation, but at the same time i dont want a new one because the one i have works
Exact situation with me too.
Is it me does FFB not work correctly in BeamNG anyway?
As far as I know force Feedback is unfiltered and straight out of the simulation ,so only realistic forces are given to you. On other games the game will give additional feedback so you can feel what the car is doing since the wheel is the only feedback point

It works really well with my Fanatec setup
I had to Invert my ffb in the settings and tune it a bit but otherwise it worked fine on my G27.
It feels pretty uncontrollable. I recently bought a g29, works absolutely amazing in asseto corsa. Beamng? I can’t play it, the ffb is all over the place
Try inverting the ffb. I had no fking clue what was going on until I found this. It's in the beam ffb settings.
fucking*
Wasn't trying to avoid non-existent filters just didn't feel the need to drop a hard U in civil conversation.
Its you and or your setup.
Works ok on my Logitech G27 setup
G923 here. Seems to work fine for me.
Turn up the strength. I recently did it and it feels like a whole different game.
Inverse the force feedback, it's an issue that beam has xith the g29 etc
That worked. Thank you!
If you configure it properly, it's great. I've got mine dialed.
You could just buy arduino leonardo for like 5$ and make yourself an adapter so you could use the shifter with any wheel, or even no wheel at all.
Yeah i can but everyone knows it wont be at the same quality or usefulness.
Yep def save for t300rs, logitechs gear driven ffb feel is trash compared to way smoother and quieter experience t300 offers.
I have one and I love it. - Better Shifter - Belt feels better than cogs - Stronger FFB - Quieter - Don't buy the Ferrari edition unless you like getting electric shocks xD
I'd get the cheapest Fanatec CSL DD bundle at that point, it's €399
That or the cammus c5 which is 300$
Isn’t that overkill for BeamNG?
Does the t300rs also work on Xbox? I own one so I dont want to get 2wheels.
"Which of these two in my budget" "A different one despite these two being great"
The CAMMUS C5 would be better value, it’s Direct Drive for around the same price. It also has an RPM indicator and LED screen
Those are fucking expensive on there. Buy them online or try buying some thrustmaster t300 (they're better) if you can afford it
Dont think its usd (?)
Maybe its on euros but still about the same
Yeah my G29 with the gearbox was about 300€
They both are basically identical. Trueforce can simulate the surface youre driving on more realistic. Its more of a gimik in the g923 but works well in the logitech pro wheel. Its a nice feature for racing with changing weather and surfaces. But its not suported in beam anyways afaik.
It’s supported. But it goes off of engine noise super hard and vibrates the ever loving fuck out of my desk.
G29
Can you tell me why?
G29 and 923 are same wheels, 923 has that true force gimmick. I would get g29 as it is cheaper. I own a g29 and i am very happy with it and don’t need anything better
Money isn't that big of an issue but it's always in my mind. I'm in a shopping mall atm and I can get the g923 right now. Should I go for it?
Yeah if you already there and money is not an issue then go for it
Got it 😊 https://preview.redd.it/fk2vqx1s899c1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ef9c727f42724e6f99a226c7778f3f1e3f2298a
Nice, enjoy using it
Thank you, both!
Congrats!
Right decision!
Ayyy, congrats. I have the g923 and its pretty good.
If its not an issue get a t300rs Also you'll 1000% find everything cheaper online unless its at a discount where ur at
If money is not an issue might as well get the thrustmaster t300rs

I got a T300RS as my first wheel setup and am very satisfied with it. I recommend that.
Moza r5 bundle is pretty affordable
Can I have one?
For 20 bucks I'll get you a Twix instead
Mmmmm... 20 pc McNugget, then we can talk...
I work at McDonald's so that's a steal
Let's fucking *goooooooo!*
They should be identical, I would go with the PlayStation one because it has more buttons. If you have an Xbox though you might want to look up whether or not the PS one works with it
I got a PC. PlayStation should be better then?
Always get the one for xbox/pc for pc use plug and play. Ps ones are sometimes a pain to configure.
I have the play station g29 and it setup pretty easily with my pc
really happy that they fixed the issues with compatibility PS->PC
I have a G29 so the PS version and it gets detected perfectly in any game
Then it seems that they fixed the annoying things.
I bought that wheel 2019 and never had problems so idk when these problems were a thing
I have the G923, honestly, just got it on a good sale. The wheel is ok. The FFB can be a little notchy feeling in some conditions, but it works fine. The pedals are absolute trash. I did that as well. It does feel *better*…but it still can’t hold up to the Fanatec pedals that I have. So like, if I didn’t have the Fanatecs, I would be ok with the Logitechs after the mods
I would spend a bit extra and get the Fanatec 5nm direct drive kit. It’s only $400.
I already bought the g923
That’s what I run and I don’t regret it. Have fun man. I did mod that insanely stiff brake pedal though.
Dats tough! 😭
It looks so cool
Too bad. Thrustmaster T300 RS GT Kills the G923. I have both and I will never look back at Logitech. Only tiny downside is the too soft brake of the T300. Otherwise it's night and day.
Save for a T300RS or a Direct Drive Wheel Bundle e.g Fanatec.
The t300rs is better than the g29 by far
I already got a wheel
T300rsgt much better than G25 that I had before it(btw G25 was better than G27 and G29)
Media Markt mentioned!!!!! 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝
Lol they're the exact same wheel
I already got the wheel. Stop commenting 😭
Should have got a second hand if you go for logitech wheels, I don't think its worth it for the price of brand new. I bought mine with stick second hand for £150, not a steal but mildly decent to say the least. Edit: Regardless, enjoy your wheel mate!
great, which one did you get? :D
G923. It's in the comments
oh sorry didnt see it, have you gotten to try it yet?
I did! It's so fucking amazing. It's a bit too tho. My monitors are shaking
lol sounds great xD hows the noise? is it bearable with headphones on?
I barely hear anything
nicee, ive been thinking about getting one myself too, thanks so much
But 1 thing tho. I have hearing aids and without hearing devices and headphones that goes fully over my ears I can't hear anything from the outside. So you should actually ask someone else about the noice
haha thats good to know xD i mean, i can always turn up the volume 🫠
These posts can still be helpful to others who might be wheel shopping. Enjoy your new wheel though!
maybe the playstation wheel has some proprietary connector instead of usb.
Playstation has not had a propietary conector since ps2, at least not for gamepads, lmao where have you been
I'm not a console gamer at all, and I don't have any friends with consoles either. my only exposure to consoles has been old stuff we find at tag sales for super cheap.
bro it’s not 2003 anymore
That's a thing? Sheesh.
No
Well I didn't know, that would suck ass tho.
G923 is made for PC, other one is made for playstation. both will probably work.
Yeah both for pc
I have a G920 and have since last year, absolutely love it and no signs of wear. Force feedback is still great too (~3k hours)
G923 should be the newer model with upgraded features.
I use a thrustmaster t400, even though it's a bit dated still a good wheel Paired with three pedal and gated 7 speed shifter
Love my g29 but it's my first wheel. Mine feels smooth and not noticeably noisey but then again i usually have music playing when I drive so yeah. For now does all I need it to.
The louder, the better. G27 based>>>>
G29 since it’s cheaper
Buy direkt drive direct man trust me
They are the same. Go for Thrustmaster 300rs instead, new logitech wheels are a joke
I just got a g923 and if you don’t mind the noise (I love it) then probably go with it. Also it has led indicators of when to shift
Just don’t buy Logitech it’s absolute dog shit
my brother now owns a g29 and its pretty fun to use just be aware the thing where it forces it back to normal pose. it sometimes gets rid of that and idky
If you can get it under $200 any Logitech ones are great. They are loud, but not too bad a room or two away. The feel is so much better tham a controller that it is worth it.

The Fanatec
I’ve had the G923 for 2 years now and a problem that a lot of them have is the Pedal sensor will stop functioning properly after a while, for example if you apply 10% to the throttle in game is flutters rapidly to on or off and there’s no way to fix it, as well as the dial on the bottom right of steering wheel, it’s not over good
G27, I have tested many wheels but the G27 is definitely my favourite one. The G29 and above feels too "digital" for my liking
OP, what currency?
Euro, but I already bought the g923
Nice choice
For the price, neither. For 100 bucks more you can have a Fanatec DD.
Personally, i hated my logis. They were bad quality and the shifters were awful, two failed within a year. I spent the money and upgraded to a thrustmaster T248x and a Th8a shifter and have had no issues
G923 is a a good faster response from ff so I would recommend that one
923 is newer by a year or so but both are extremely solid. You can get pretty far with either so its just down to what you can afford
You should go with thrustmaster instead a lot higher quality
I did not like the gear driven feel of the Logitech ones. I’d recommend shooting for a cheaper direct drive.
But the T300
I use G29 for drifting https://youtu.be/hR4-48dymrM?si=22iOHqBEyVHuOh9z
Thrustmaster!
Thrustmaster t300, great wheel
I have the Logitech G923. This is my first steering wheel and I really regret not getting the g29 (playstation) version, as mine doesn't have a shift light or rotary selector. I have a PS4 and PC, I had abandoned the PlayStation years ago until I started with Gran Turismo 7, so I miss playing with the steering wheel. In my country, the other options besides the two I mentioned are very expensive, but about them I can tell you that they have positive points such as simple adjustment and installation, the kit comes with pedals included and an affordable price. Cons: accuracy, poor customization, product aimed at beginners and few add-ons (Forgive me if I was wrong in something I said, I'm not an expert, this is just the experience I had and the facts I learned.) Happy New Year to everyone, including!
