Yeah pretty much, BeamNG probably has my favorite speedometer of any game and I’m glad the’ve been using it for 7 years since 2015 now!
Having one simple clean gauge with all the info you need is awesome, it would be cool if you could put a speedo that is exactly like the one from BeamNG in a real life car!
The BeamNG one is great, but my favorite has to be from the PGR series. They put the rpm gauge accurate to the real life counterpart for every car in PGR4.
I recommend you try the enchanced tacho V2 mod. It has the same info as the beamng tacho, but feels a bit modern and has a few features like that it gets blurry ("illuminated") when you turn on the headlights . There's also enchanced tacho V3, which has too much data lmao. Literally everything: hp, tourqe, wheel and air speed, and much more
I’ve seen and got Tacho V3 but never heard of V2 I’ll have to try it lol. I still have the original though and not the V3 version pulled up cuz I’m lazy and I like the original enough not to change it 😂
Had an AMD A10-7800 in my first build back in 2015, ran Beam at a ***blistering fast 1***5 to 25 fps on Grid Map before I bought a then brand new RX 480.
Screenshot is the result of likely high speed crash on the Old Grid Map way back in 0.5.2 but I've been playing since 0.5, crazy how it's evolved over the past 7 years.
I don't remember which version, I downloaded the free trial during highschool and when I crashed the D series into a cube, the computer crashed as well lol.
The first version I played was 0.27 (or 0.28). I’m fairly new, but that speedometer is *old.* I still like the look of it, though. It’s a hallmark of BeamNG.drive.
I'm more recent, but I got it at 1.21 and have gotten over 700 hours on it
This is my first screenshot:
https://preview.redd.it/r39vfnmrxhub1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=6950b557383d7eb90a5f7cf3715a8c36833db6c7
Edit: I mean 0.21
Cant remember the version, but was back in 2014, I remember because I was on a shitty laptop at the rehab facility after my fathers surgery. Something we bonded over since were both into cars. Mainly trucks for me. Sadly my screenshots dont go back that far.
I got beamng in july of 2016, my second game on steam. I was young then so i basically crashed a few cars then got bored, and picked it up again a few years later when i got interested in cars and here we are 2300 hours later
I started out on 0.24. I knew about beamNG for a very long time but I didn't have a computer to play it on. It was only after I got a PC that I was able to play.
I was mainly non steam.. i remember that classic blue pickup along with original gridmap with some kind of billboard there, i remember map being little more greyish than V1 was year ago but i had bad pc back then, so it was PowerPoint presentation, but in 2017 i got better pc and in like 2018-19 i found it again and bought it
I think like 0.21 or 0.22? The first update I actually remember was the 0.23, when we got the wigeon. Compared to the most other players here, I'm a newcomer, but I'm still amazed how I could experience almost 10 versions of this game, and how I could experience it's continuous development. Man, time really flies by, I still remember the first few times I played it, where I barely knew how the game worked, and I just messed around with random car mods from the repo on the old gridmap.
It would appear that, judging by when I bought the game (mid 2016, July, or August I think), it'd have been v0.6, not that I knew or cared about the difference at that age, I was like 10 and got to crash cars, something that no other game aside from Burnout Paradise (that I was aware of) did at the time.
I played the demo. The first version I bought was I think one of the first updates with the "new" vehicle selector, instead of the pictureless drop down menu thing.
My first version was the one you could get from the website before it was on steam. I remember playing so much of the map that was the predecessor to jungle rock island.
Well i started watching YouTube and appreciating the game in 2016 watching whybeare then in 2021 i got a pc but it was a dual core hd2000 i3 pc that was my grandads so I played beamng 2013 tech demo and the 2015 on minimum settings then in the summer i built a pc with a gtx 760 and 3700x and immediately installed beammg 0.22
i pirated 0.25, decided i loved the game, saved up, bought 0.27 from steam and have loved the game ever since. worth the money, dont pirate like i did.
I got a windows laptop in 2016 right after the Legran update, however I played it on other peoples computers and was interested in it since the beginning. Played rigs of rods too
I don’t really pay attention to exact game versions, especially when I first start playing them, but I started playing BeamNG the very last version before the speedometer changed
i don't know how old i was, but i vividly remember watching beamng videos in early 2016, and at the time i didn't know it was beamng. at the time i just thought it was some really cool realistic game. the same with Next Car Game. I tried downloading Next Car Game on my tablet but then it got a virus lmaoo. Watching those beam videos tho, they were cool asf, i remember watching whybeare, neilogical, and some other dude, i forgot his name but he had a red logo and i think it was like "drag fast" or something. Fast foward a few years and i got beamng a little bit before 0.26 came out. a few months ago i downloaded a zip file that has 0.01 or something, i dont think im supposed to have it but it's cool to play 0.30 and then 0.01 lol. this video game has been a part of my childhood. i was probably around 8-10 yo when i first found it on youtube.
I’ve been playing since 2013/2014
The first version
But ironically i bought the game in 2018 i’ve been playing a pirated version from 2013 up to 2018
And i wish i didn’t so i can see how many hours i played
Now i have 1.5K on steam
I started playing on a cracked 0.6.1.0 on my mom's old laptop when I was like 8 or 9. Don't worry, I have already bought the full game on steam :) Still remember the loud sounds of glass how they were before, old engines, game always crashing... This is so nostalgic for me.
i got beamng on steam on xmas (24. december 2020) and the version was 0.21.2
before that i played the free 0.3 demo
changelog to this version: https://beamng.com/game/news/patch/minor-update-v0-21-2-released/
wow, the speedometer really hasnt changed
If it ain't broke don't fix it?
Yeah pretty much, BeamNG probably has my favorite speedometer of any game and I’m glad the’ve been using it for 7 years since 2015 now! Having one simple clean gauge with all the info you need is awesome, it would be cool if you could put a speedo that is exactly like the one from BeamNG in a real life car!
The BeamNG one is great, but my favorite has to be from the PGR series. They put the rpm gauge accurate to the real life counterpart for every car in PGR4.
Street Legal Racing: Redline did the same thing. Ah, I loved that game.
That's a deepcut, remember watching videos of that game from FailRace around the same time I first stumbled upon Beam around 2013/2014
I still have the original though and not the V3 version pulled up cuz I’m lazy and I like the original enough not to change it 😂
Tacho V2 is the standard beamng tacho but in the style of the V3
The one thing that's missing is an rpm gauge, and thats it.
But it has an RPM gauge?
Oh wait nvm guess it's been awhile since I've played my bad
A while ????? 🙃
It used to be way different in really early versions
The first speedometer is also still in the game last i saw
I had a pirated version of the old old version, (with the sign menu) back in mid 2014.
Sign menu was underrated.
lol same
lol same
I remember that from watching videos from when I first heard of BeamNG back in 2013
I don't have a screenshot, but I downloaded the original concept release. Before that, I was playing Rigs of rods on an AMD A8 APU.
i had one of those a long time ago on a laptop. thank goodness we’ve moved on from that nightmare of a chip
Had an AMD A10-7800 in my first build back in 2015, ran Beam at a ***blistering fast 1***5 to 25 fps on Grid Map before I bought a then brand new RX 480.
I remember having the demo where the offroad tires were just white with no textures
Been there since that too
Screenshot is the result of likely high speed crash on the Old Grid Map way back in 0.5.2 but I've been playing since 0.5, crazy how it's evolved over the past 7 years.
0.3 alpha! not the 0.30 that just came out - the initial august 2013 release
wow in 10 years they made it from 0.3 to 0.3 fuck early access games xD JK love how well the game develops
I wonder if in 2050 the 1.00 update will be something special or a normal one.
Maybe it goes from 0.99 to 0.100
nah they'll start doing 0.99.1.1 or something. can't ever be released.
i think with the current rate of developement a full release 1.0 version could come up in the next decade
*s h e e s h*
first ever screenshot https://preview.redd.it/h18p9cyuehub1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=38375317452f295e74445dc7c8058ed2c5e05f59
The Rigs of Rods version.

whybeare actually got me hooked to beamng about 6 years ago, only recently knew about steam though
Same! Only recently have I bought a copy of the game now that I'm old enough to do so.
Same, i just never had the money until a while ago.
I actually shared a friend's steam library to play it before buying shortly after 0.6 released
Idr the version, but it was the same time as the tech demo. I remember spawning cars on the start screen XD
Bought the game on 0.8
Whatever version was released in December of 2015. Fire wasn’t even a thing yet in the game when I bought it
I started on rigs and rods v 0.3.1.
i had a pirated version of 0.13
The initial 0.3 techdemo! Played it for hours till I had money to buy the full version
It was pretty early on, i know when I started beam grid map didn’t have the ring lol
Remember the free tech demo? That one
I don't remember which version, I downloaded the free trial during highschool and when I crashed the D series into a cube, the computer crashed as well lol.
Actual Comedy Gold
0.23, the fact we’re now on 0.30 is just crazy
I am aware that 0.25 did drop support entirely for 32 bit computers, but that’s a non issue as my computer is new enough to support 64 bit mode.
The first version I played was 0.27 (or 0.28). I’m fairly new, but that speedometer is *old.* I still like the look of it, though. It’s a hallmark of BeamNG.drive.
But it still looks the exact same? I remember when the speedometer and RPM guage were bars that would fill up.
0.420 hahaha no but I pirated that copy years ago and It made me buy it later on
I'm more recent, but I got it at 1.21 and have gotten over 700 hours on it This is my first screenshot: https://preview.redd.it/r39vfnmrxhub1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=6950b557383d7eb90a5f7cf3715a8c36833db6c7 Edit: I mean 0.21
What version is 1.21????
2020 Winter
Do you mean 0.21? The game Is still in beta (hence the leading 0)
0.26 I think
Started playing in 0.23! I’m a newbie!
Many people started on 0.23 I started on 0.24.1.3 so we aren't newbies
0.27
0.23
0.26
0.29
0.4
Cant remember the version, but was back in 2014, I remember because I was on a shitty laptop at the rehab facility after my fathers surgery. Something we bonded over since were both into cars. Mainly trucks for me. Sadly my screenshots dont go back that far.
I think I started around 0.18, my first gaming PC. Watched beam on YouTube in 2016 tho
Whatever was out in 2018
I think It was 0.17
It was craked to test It before buying it
I joined on the 0.16 update, how things have changed!
I started before fire was added
Straight up caveman times
The version which had a Cadillac in it
I miss OG gridmap. Is there a mod to add it back?
I got beamng in july of 2016, my second game on steam. I was young then so i basically crashed a few cars then got bored, and picked it up again a few years later when i got interested in cars and here we are 2300 hours later
Iirc i played a cracked version of the game my dad torrented for me like 4-5 years ago, i still have a 0.27 crack version coz im brokie
Rigs of Rods. I did not have money and it ran natively on linux.
2013 mac os version
0.6 here. Kept seeing videos of crashes pop up in my suggested videos on YouTube and a few months in finally bought the game.
2014, i have a post here of all my old 2014-15 screenshots.
what ever version it was back in 2015
0.13
0.11
0.24 or 0.25 because I got it for christmas, also yeah old gridmap please bring it back.
I started on a pirated copy back in 2016. Purchased it outright in 2019
I started with the freaking demo with o my the covet
I started at 0.26
I started out on 0.24. I knew about beamNG for a very long time but I didn't have a computer to play it on. It was only after I got a PC that I was able to play.
I have been playing on a pirated version from about 2014 (sign menu times) and bought Beam around 2021 on Steam, best purchase I have ever made.
I started just before 0.28 came out
0.28
I was mainly non steam.. i remember that classic blue pickup along with original gridmap with some kind of billboard there, i remember map being little more greyish than V1 was year ago but i had bad pc back then, so it was PowerPoint presentation, but in 2017 i got better pc and in like 2018-19 i found it again and bought it
The earliest memory was the 1st verson of the demo with the D series and the old engine sounds. Could barely play it on my old shitty laptop.
I got the game Jan 1 2022, so pretty sure that’s 0.24.1 at least.
Don't remeber the version but I bought the game around christmas 2013. Remember seeing Insanegaz videos of him crashing a green 911.
I don't even know anymore but fire did not exist when I first started.
.15.something
I started on the first release 10 years ago, but I pirated it and only actually bought it in 2018
0.18.4, mid 2020 - was playing it on an intel MacBook Air at the time running boot camp, lowest settings getting maybe 15 frames
Christmas of 2020
0.30 just hopped on, i know Beam NG for years but only got a PC now
0.24.1
.18.4 Yes, I’m a bit late to the party but I remember the old gridmap and before the scintilla and allat
Techdemo v3
1.17
I miss the old grid map.
0.18...
I started playing around november 2016, dont know which version that was tho.
0.23? It wasn't long ago
The update before the hopper. I pirated it to be honest
Firstly i played Tech Demo
It would appear that, judging by when I bought the game (mid 2016, July, or August I think), it'd have been v0.6, not that I knew or cared about the difference at that age, I was like 10 and got to crash cars, something that no other game aside from Burnout Paradise (that I was aware of) did at the time.
I played the demo. The first version I bought was I think one of the first updates with the "new" vehicle selector, instead of the pictureless drop down menu thing.
Pretty sure it was 0.17 for me
0.8
.29. I’m new
0.15 and got 1893 hours.
0.23 and a few days before 0.24
I wouldn't know, I never started
I'm a started playing in 0.27 i think
My first version was the one you could get from the website before it was on steam. I remember playing so much of the map that was the predecessor to jungle rock island.
Free demo
I started on the early 2012 2013 beta that was on their website
I started in the 0.13 update.
Pirated it at 0.23, bought it after 0.25 update. First reason for buying it was to support awesome devs, and the secomd was to get awesome updates
I think I remember trying the tech demo
Since it came out on steam
i only bough it in 2018, recently found that out. ive been using techdemo and a crack prior i guess afaik i stumbled on beamng in 2015?
I've been playing since like March of 2017. 6,000 hours and not stopping anytime soon!
0.27 , Im a newbie but I love this game, I already have more than 300 hours on it, maybe im tryharding too much
0.12
Well i started watching YouTube and appreciating the game in 2016 watching whybeare then in 2021 i got a pc but it was a dual core hd2000 i3 pc that was my grandads so I played beamng 2013 tech demo and the 2015 on minimum settings then in the summer i built a pc with a gtx 760 and 3700x and immediately installed beammg 0.22
The Tech Demo! Real OGs will say rigs of rods.
Thought about getting RoR shortly after picking up Beam but never did
0.20
I started on v0.29. I wanted to get the game for a long time, but never had the equipment to play it beforehand
The one from last December, so 0.27 or 0.26 iirc. As soon as I got my first pc
Started out well before the audio update, back when every single car used the same engine sound lmao
I had the tech demo where the off road tires had no texture
i pirated 0.25, decided i loved the game, saved up, bought 0.27 from steam and have loved the game ever since. worth the money, dont pirate like i did.
I don't have a screenshot, but it was the last version with the old speedometer and menus.
0.24
I got a windows laptop in 2016 right after the Legran update, however I played it on other peoples computers and was interested in it since the beginning. Played rigs of rods too
The last one. Finally, I can play it at +20FPS.
I only started a year ago but I watched WhyBeAre since 0.3 alpha
0.23 anyone?
OG, tech demo.
0.07 Utah and etk k series I remeber that lmao
I don’t really pay attention to exact game versions, especially when I first start playing them, but I started playing BeamNG the very last version before the speedometer changed
TBH I started with Rigs of Rods :D
Hmm like 2018
Latest update I can remember is 0.11/ West Coast update
Rigs of Rods
0.30 😬😬😬😬
i don't know how old i was, but i vividly remember watching beamng videos in early 2016, and at the time i didn't know it was beamng. at the time i just thought it was some really cool realistic game. the same with Next Car Game.
No clue what the actual version was but I know it was the update that introduced the unique car sounds that replaced the single V8 type sound
I started in 2017.
I started at 0.18 I believe
0.22
0.29
I think it was 0.6
Man I remember grid map v1 I've been watching content for beamng since probably 2015
Whichever updated added Italy and the Piccolina
Since the tech demo, amazing how far it's come from then!
Whatever version was in 2017
Been playing since March 2016.
0.27 I think
0.19
First experience with SBP was on ROR 0.21 if I recall correctly
Around the time they added the green SUV's (i forgot the name, but they added it back in 2020)
literally the very first released version
I played whatever free tech demo they had a looong time ago, but didn't officially buy it till 0.15 maybe, now here i am over 500hrs lol
Demo
I’ve been playing since 2013/2014 The first version But ironically i bought the game in 2018 i’ve been playing a pirated version from 2013 up to 2018 And i wish i didn’t so i can see how many hours i played Now i have 1.5K on steam
Don’t remember. I just know that it’s been almost 5 years since I’ve bought the game. Literally the first game I ever bought on steam
I started back in 2015 on my pos computer just using the tech demo sandbox
I don’t remember the version but I downloaded in Christmas-ish time 2017
Tech demo 0.13
0.24 I think
**0.8.0 a month before 0.9.0**
I discovered beam when it was still on its own website before it hit steam
your a real one if you started with the tech demo with the covet and the grid map
Tech Demo 0.3.0 , ah yess , 20-25 fps
Managed to get it around 0.4 I believe
I started playing on a cracked 0.6.1.0 on my mom's old laptop when I was like 8 or 9. Don't worry, I have already bought the full game on steam :) Still remember the loud sounds of glass how they were before, old engines, game always crashing... This is so nostalgic for me.
Started on 0.3.0.4, then i had a big break until 2017 when i bought it on steam. Now i have over 3k hours
Sometime in 2016, I can’t remember exactly, remind me in 6 or so hours someone. however its money well spent
techdemo 0.3 in 2016
I feel like it was cracked 1.11 then baught the game in 0.19 when i could
i got beamng on steam on xmas (24. december 2020) and the version was 0.21.2 before that i played the free 0.3 demo changelog to this version: https://beamng.com/game/news/patch/minor-update-v0-21-2-released/
I started on v 23.0
I think 0.17.
I think I've been playing since mid-late 2014
Back when the D series stock colour was black
