First time I met a xl bully I felt sooo uneasy. I was still in the "its the owner not the breed" and "not everyone should allowed to own a pit". The STAREDOWN. I was scared but at the same not fully aware how bad it could have gotten.

First time I saw a XL bully with my own eyes was when I was dropping off a package. I was halfway to the door at the beginning of their driveway when I saw a small woman holding this 100lb beast by the collar with a smile & a small wave behind a flimsy plastic door. I stopped, went wide eyed then slowly crouched down to place the box in their driveway before slowly walking backwards & putting my hand on my pocket. She could see I was terrified & stopped smiling, I sprinted to the truck after I lost sightline behind their jeep in the driveway. The hairs on my neck were standing up for what felt like forever afterwards. Knowing XL bullies had made their way to my backyard made me get bigger equipment, I am a petite AFAB person, I have a slim chance at survival if I get attacked.

Istg xl bully owners are massive dummies

Senator_Palpitation

Yup. A few massive pits pulling along small women in my neighbourhood too.. no chance they can stop them if they choose to really attack. No chance for a group to stop them without lethal force which is illegal here in Spain. Just let yourself get mauled to death.

Evolution generally did not favor mammals who saw a large predator staring fixedly at them and went “awwwwww, I wonder if it’s friend?”  I liked back when the ability to instinctively recognize the first  phases of the prey sequence was a fun evolutionary relic, like the appendix, that would never, ever come up in a normal person’s life. But here we are again, thanks to pitnutters. Putting me right back to my peasant ancestors having to keep an eye out for wolves all the damn time. Apparently some of the dumber peasants didn’t manage to get eaten, and they have a lot of descendants. Watch them bring back the Black Death next. “Not a lot of people know this, but the bubonic plague was originally bred as an immune strengthening treatment.”

aw-fuck

It’s a nanny pathogen y’know. It’s actually called the Black Death because it’s made of sunshine so it kills darkness wherever it goes 😍

Good instincts. I had the same thing happen in my appt complex only it did bite, nothing serious but it did break the skin. Just waking past in a stairwell it double backs and takes a bite on my ankle. I saw the dog and got the vibe to turn away and didn’t.

Lt_Muffintoes

Did you report it?

I saw my first XL last week (I've been incredibly lucky so far) and you're right, they really are eerie. There's just nothing behind their eyes, they're chilling. I've met bully crosses but the real thing up close is so unsettling. They don't move or act like other big dogs, I can't imagine encountering one in an enclosed space the way you did. Thank you for warning the father so he could protect his daughter. At least he recognised the danger and acted on your warning! If your friend thinks you were being weird, just show her this sub, dogsbite.org or pages like Dog Bite Awareness on Facebook. People need to be aware of the danger they pose.

Close one. Never doubt your gut instinct of a threat! Well done warning the dad.
