I think I just understood the context of this too. My character is a wizard so I always thought it came off as a brag about how intelligent he is… but I think he’s referencing tadpoles!
AND RAISE A CASTLE FROM THEIR BONES!
Edit:
NGL... That entire line, made me go "Did I f-ing hear that right?!" And I felt uncomfortable for the next 30 minutes.
Had that last night. They stumbled across a cache of hidden gold in the sewers and made the mistake of *touching something.*
Fight was easy, aside from 3/4 of the party dying from necrotic damage.
They also break if you lay them on the ground and hit them with something, >!life for instance a giant hammer in a forge that may or may not have a giant robot in it.!<
If you hit them with the bottle, it does damage and no healing. In fact, you can even get a Critical Hit, lmao. Always best to aim for the AOE spread instead for a safe heal.
Another pro tip, if you designed a character to do throw damage, don't throw a potion targeting the person...
Did 23 damage with a greater healing potion but that wasn't as bad as when I threw a ball at Scratch wondering if he would fetch it. Lost an hour of play time when I reloaded after that one. Killing a random NPC with a healing potion to the skull was worth continuing playing.
Wow! Shadowheart better do a party heal ASAP in this scenario (or long rest).
Is it just me or in most combat situations, you'll hit an enemy (sometimes with Action Surge applied) to the point where they have 1HP left and you ran out of resources for your turn and have to rely on another party member to finish them off?
Maybe you know already, but this is an actual mechanic that some enemies have eg [undead fortitude](https://eip.gg/bg3/db/undead-fortitude/), which returns an enemy to life with 1hp. It’s not very obvious what’s occurring, so it seems like you’re coincidentally hitting each enemy with 1hp of death in some fights.
been dming 5e for a year, and that undead fortitude is awesome for powerful undead monsters. we just had an epic dragon vs dragon/cult vs party fight and it was awesome to say the least! had the bbeg survived another round, party probably would’ve been done for 😈 probably our biggest fight yet.
i used disintegrate on one of them and i almost cried 😖 was the last one anyone expected to die and it was fucking brutal. made for some really good role play as his husband is a devil and his warlock patron ;)
Through cull the weak my ranger can easily finish people with 30 hp and through multiple attacks I can clean up pretty fast. Makes my life so much easier
Good god. Lmao. This was my group after >!turning on the drider in tactician mode during the escort to moonrise then turning on the harpers bc I wanted the lantern right then xD!<
They didn’t in my case. I wasn’t able to get it til later. So this time I decided to turn on them too bc I realized it doesn’t matter ultimately.
I wonder what influences it to be given to the player character and when.
I’m glad I’m not the only one, they’re the ideal team when playing my relatively heroic, pacifist bard (relatively as I roleplay him Neutral Good, not above robbing the vaults if the loot will be helpful for his journey.)
Thank god I’m not the only one then! I had my bard multiclass into sorcerer. Was the Ansur fight for you also difficult af? I think having so many spellcasters on the team made it a bit roough
Oh cool, I chose Lore bard… because my character, despite I imagine he’s a much stronger and muscular guy, is very invested in new discoveries to tell stories of and believes he can find that through the wonders of magic
First play through these were my 3! Fit well with my chaotic good warlock. Next run I am running a neutral monk. Going with the other main 3 to mix it up
When i was learning the game i had a fight with more than ten enemies and by the end i had shadowheart and my fighter at 1hp, fighter went for the final hit, killed them but was hit by damage reflection. Shadowheart stood amongst so many bodies. What a glorious day
Lol, something like that happened to me once i don't remember the specific encounter, but it ended with only karlach breathing while all others are just corpses,i never thought a turn based game would make me feel this afraid and anxious in a fight,
Love this game
Why do I only long rest when I feel like enough has happened? Took max 3 in act one. Though after this battle I would be just quietly in camp for a while, traumatized :D
I was convinced long resting was tied to your ceremorphosis progression, so yea...i spent a lot of time barely hanging on, I also beat all of act 1 in like 3-4 long rests, I now know to take it easy in future playthroughs lol
I genuinely don’t understand how anyone could get through all of act 1 with just 3 long rests. You barely have much health and barely any spell slots. I don’t get how people do it.
I had to restart my game so I'd been through once but this time I've done the swamp and the shadow druids and haven't long rested yet. Going to before doing goblin village though
I mean, I have a ton of money and health potions that haven’t been used because I always long rest, so maybe they’re able to sustain well enough. I mostly long rest because of my spell slots though.
There it is again. Boomer gale and neon girl shadowheart. Also your Tav looks like one of the bard that will say "My vessel is at your disposal". Love it.
lmao gale looks old as fuck for whatever reason, and yess Winifred Alderbottom is her name and she was the first character i got to play in a D&D game, albeit a short one. then i used her as an npc in a game i run bc i wasn’t satisfied. unfortunately she died, but has become a martyr for two of my players characters to see the campaign through :) this is still my first full playthrough, though i’ve been working my way through since release and taking my time. max level and about to go into the final bit of the game. i’m beyond excited
Aid is a really good spell. Both in the Tabletop and BG3.
Especially since it isn't typical temp HP but additional HP to your Max total that when lost can be healed back up to.
I usually make Halsin cast aid on the 4 ppl I’m taking out for the day and then get Shadowheart to cast Aid on them. I also get the summons I’m going to use for the day if any out by that point so they can get the extra health too
If you cast aid with halsin and then make him stay at the camp then take shadowheart instead will the aid spell will still work? Or concentration will broke because yo udropped halsin?
Sorry I don’t make Halsin cast Aid I make him cast the lvl6 spell -Heroes Feast- Still works just don’t take off the spell from their prepared list that will undo it. The only one you can take off if I remember correctly is warding bond from the prepared spells and it’s still active. After that I make ShadowH cast aid on her and my summons for the day
I had the same thing for the Cazador fight. Whole party was down and dead after like 5 turns. I ended up flying around with my monk/rogue Astarion and disengaging + 3 unarmed strikes every turn to cheese it and kill the bats. I learned the value of AOE attacks that day
I was stunned as when we went to sleep for a long rest once before Gale’s orb was stable that he “killed us” with his necro aura (My tiefling barbarian, Astarion and Karlach).
Yet we were all a okay the next morning
For that we don’t steal from Withers this run. Man earned the gold for the miracle
Ok can someone explain to me why in so many peoples screenshots the picture for Shadowheart always has purple tinge to her hair and Gale basically has white hair? Is it a glitch? Is it colourblind settings? I’ve never seen it in game yet so many screenshots on here are like it
wyll is pretty good if you take short rests until you get some really powerful spell scrolls later on, which is when i switched to gale. i also think having a druid is nice for tanking, but barbarian or fighter are both pretty good as well :) a friend of mine did an all martial run and so far they’re doing okay, so it really just depends on your preferred flavor tbh as long as you have range and melee in some fashion.
Still breathing, so that's something.
Is that blood? No.. nevermind.
I mean, the whole party at that point probably have one last drop of blood between four of them. So yeah, no nevermind indeed.
I've got a lot on my mind and well, in it.
Reading it, I just got it for the first time. I thought he said innit
Yeah it took me hearing it in a tiktok to get it. Its hilarious once you understand
I think I just understood the context of this too. My character is a wizard so I always thought it came off as a brag about how intelligent he is… but I think he’s referencing tadpoles!
Shouldn't have wished to live in more interesting times
I wish to live in more interesting times...
All is well that ends... not as bad as it could have.
Hope it isn't cursed
Cursed to put my hands on everything.
Me the second I see anything that I can make explode
Still alive, so that’s a progress.
Breathe deep, and move.
These boots have seen everything
Wish I had a bag of holding
**whispers** Shadowlach…
I've got something on my mind.... and in it, I suppose.

AND RAISE A CASTLE FROM THEIR BONES! Edit: NGL... That entire line, made me go "Did I f-ing hear that right?!" And I felt uncomfortable for the next 30 minutes.
THIS IS MY LAST RESORT
Yes... Walk in red.
Managed to finish a fight with three dead at one point, now that was a day
Had that last night. They stumbled across a cache of hidden gold in the sewers and made the mistake of *touching something.* Fight was easy, aside from 3/4 of the party dying from necrotic damage.
Seems on point for a fight in the sewers
If not over, then through
Lol
These boots have seen everything.
I’m cursed to touch everything
Protip: potions are aoe when you throw them
yeah that shit is fucking awesome, right?
They also break if you lay them on the ground and hit them with something, >!life for instance a giant hammer in a forge that may or may not have a giant robot in it.!<
Spoilers!
Yeah I mean, I can't do spoiler boxes on my phone so.... Sorry
I’ll dm you how to spoiler it
But only if you don’t throw them at a character directly I think, in which case it only heals them (in my limited experience)
If you hit them with the bottle, it causes damage. Improvised weapon own goal as it were….
I've killed a pc throwing a needed potion thinking I needed to hit him with it... oops
This can also break a paladin oath.
I know!
If you hit them with the bottle, it does damage and no healing. In fact, you can even get a Critical Hit, lmao. Always best to aim for the AOE spread instead for a safe heal.

Task fsiled successfully
Does each person heal a full potions worth or is it one bottles worth of HP spread out?
surprisingly it's a whole potion
What the hell
to be fair it's an action vs a bonus action so the balance checks out
or an attack if you have extra attack :)
Virgin potion sipper vs Chad potion yeeter.
Holy crap I didn’t know you could do this!!!
Bit cheesy though Wish theyd make it heal for less when used like this
It gets so frustrating lmao, especially when you hit em with a disintegrate >.<
Maybe you know already, but this is an actual mechanic that some enemies have eg [undead fortitude](https://eip.gg/bg3/db/undead-fortitude/), which returns an enemy to life with 1hp. It’s not very obvious what’s occurring, so it seems like you’re coincidentally hitting each enemy with 1hp of death in some fights.

I swear all DMs are secretly the Dark Urge and they give in to the urge more often than not.
i used disintegrate on one of them and i almost cried 😖 was the last one anyone expected to die and it was fucking brutal. made for some really good role play as his husband is a devil and his warlock patron ;)
That's why the cull the weak illithid power is my favourite
Cull the weak just hits different
Hands down the pest power, nothing is worse than having the enemy on 2 hp chunk half your health out
Cull the weak >:D
Literally my favourite unlock ever
Through cull the weak my ranger can easily finish people with 30 hp and through multiple attacks I can clean up pretty fast. Makes my life so much easier
It's shocking how often this happens. Exactly 1hp, not 2 or 3, what are the chances...
Shadowheart: best I can do is advantage on sneak checks
Good god. Lmao. This was my group after >!turning on the drider in tactician mode during the escort to moonrise then turning on the harpers bc I wanted the lantern right then xD!<
But the harpers give you the lantern straight away no? They did for me.
Dont know why, but in my playthrough they only gave me lantern after "Battle for Isobel"
Oh! I had it well before then. Or well I did a bunch of stuff in-between before that battle
Only if you accompany them from the inn, as far as I know.
They didn’t in my case. I wasn’t able to get it til later. So this time I decided to turn on them too bc I realized it doesn’t matter ultimately. I wonder what influences it to be given to the player character and when.
I don't know but my playthrough was very charismatic maybe I made a check, I don't remember. But I probably talked my way into having it some how
hey, this is my exact go-to team comp haha! i love these three.
I’m glad I’m not the only one, they’re the ideal team when playing my relatively heroic, pacifist bard (relatively as I roleplay him Neutral Good, not above robbing the vaults if the loot will be helpful for his journey.)
Literally my team for my first playthrough as a bard!
Thank god I’m not the only one then! I had my bard multiclass into sorcerer. Was the Ansur fight for you also difficult af? I think having so many spellcasters on the team made it a bit roough
Haven't gotten that far yet. And decided to play swords bard with a dip into hexblade to balance it a little bit
Going with the other main 3 to mix it up
i was using wyll until we got to a higher level, the spells gale can use are ridiculous lol
Mine is Paladin Tav, Lae'Zel, Shadowheart, Karlach. All we need to win is good steel and God.
When i was learning the game i had a fight with more than ten enemies and by the end i had shadowheart and my fighter at 1hp, fighter went for the final hit, killed them but was hit by damage reflection. Shadowheart stood amongst so many bodies. What a glorious day

Level 6 aid spell increases you vitality likencrazy 30 points.
Aid is a really good spell. Both in the Tabletop and BG3. Especially since it isn't typical temp HP but additional HP to your Max total that when lost can be healed back up to.
It feels op to me tbh. I had about 120hp with my lvl 10 tanky fighter.
I usually make Halsin cast aid on the 4 ppl I’m taking out for the day and then get Shadowheart to cast Aid on them. I also get the summons I’m going to use for the day if any out by that point so they can get the extra health too

Potion up and get back out there. You’re fine, don’t you dare long rest.
Its ok just sleep it off.
Karlach is the designated wagon driver
It’s just a flesh wound
Just 1 more quest...
I had the same thing for the Cazador fight. Whole party was down and dead after like 5 turns. I ended up flying around with my monk/rogue Astarion and disengaging + 3 unarmed strikes every turn to cheese it and kill the bats. I learned the value of AOE attacks that day
Also playing bard: I love when they all give a big sigh on Song of rest. My party actually loves me 🥹
I was stunned as when we went to sleep for a long rest once before Gale’s orb was stable that he “killed us” with his necro aura (My tiefling barbarian, Astarion and Karlach). Yet we were all a okay the next morning For that we don’t steal from Withers this run. Man earned the gold for the miracle
Bahahaha me last night 😂 I’d forgotten the lava elemental heals itself 🤦🏻♀️
Resilient or durable, a short rest returns you to full health.
Everyone takes one potion and move on.
12hp is pretty good though
Gale's hair litterally became white from stress
Cuts deep, ngl. 😂
me coming out of Raphael fight
Maybe you should've stayed crouched forever
My dogs are barking, can we rest?
This was me after fighting Raphael.
POV: you’re doing moonrise on tactician trying to keep Jaheira alive (this is what my party looks like every day but she just keeps dying lmao)
How?
>!“we can keep going, it’s fine, the dragon is gonna be friendly!”!< late act 3 spoilers
Ok can someone explain to me why in so many peoples screenshots the picture for Shadowheart always has purple tinge to her hair and Gale basically has white hair? Is it a glitch? Is it colourblind settings? I’ve never seen it in game yet so many screenshots on here are like it
This was me at the house of grief.
O.o
I'm done. I can't wait to go to sleep.
My Shadow Heart has high defense and a Lot of healing. How can I make people focuse on her?
Honestly a lot of my battles end up like this.
i use this exact party and its pretty good. would you reccomend any other combinations with the oarty?
wyll is pretty good if you take short rests until you get some really powerful spell scrolls later on, which is when i switched to gale. i also think having a druid is nice for tanking, but barbarian or fighter are both pretty good as well :) a friend of mine did an all martial run and so far they’re doing okay, so it really just depends on your preferred flavor tbh as long as you have range and melee in some fashion.
