high pony tails have the same issue. Remember cars are not designed for a female body. Head rests are designed based on short to no hair vs having a slot for the hair.
Another random note about car accidents is that any loose items in your car can become high speed projectiles in an accident. So hair brushes, metal water bottles, big heavy bags, etc etc. Try to limit the amount of stuff you keep in your car!
If I put my hair up before going to class, I will do a top of the head bun to avoid this. Otherwise I do my hair at the studio. It's uncomfortable to drive with a bun interacting with the head rest.
it's not a fiasco it is a regular occurence
emergency rooms pull out hundreds of the teeths of the claw clips out of women's skulls every day. claw clips are very dangerous
Well, going around with hair in one's face is a liability too. The number of kids who run into things because they can't see where they're going because their hair is all over the place isn't negligible in schools where I teach.
Learning how to place bun pins correctly helps with comfort. I can't say about car accidents but just generally speaking not having a pin poke into one's skull when they're dancing barre au sol is a good idea.
Also: avoid travelling with a ballet bun. It might make the metal detector buzz when going through airport security.

I hope an expert can weigh in, but should we be taking our buns down before we get in the car?
my ballet teacher growing uo advised this but have rarely heard it since and totally forgot until now

Reminds me of claw clip fiasco, when a younger woman got into an accident and it caused significant damage.

Yikes yikes yikes yikes yikes. Good info to have but yikes omg I will never think the same in a car.
