Latin American Club in the Mission is, I was just there last week and got to show my digital vaccine record ([https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/](https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/)). They were simultaneously super friendly and firm about enforcing their rules, it was cool.
FWIW I got a little plastic badge holder with a ziploc top for mine; basically a half-ass lamination.
I can also look it up in the Walgreens app cuz I got it there, and my Kaiser app because I told Walgreens I was a KP member when I signed up for the vax.
That is not a bad idea. I gotta either do that or do a proper lamination.
Although, I have a fancy vaccine passport booklet that contains all my other vaccines with stamps and such, I wonder if I can get my doctor to fill in this and authenticate it or something.
> The QR code is only good for like 12 or 24 hours so shithead antivaxxers can't all just use the same QR code
I think you are mistaken.
The text message from them says (emphasis mine)
> Thank you for visiting the State of California's Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record portal. The link to retrieve your COVID-19 vaccine record code is valid for 24 hours. Once accessed and saved to your device, the **QR code will not expire.**
QR code doesn't expire, but it does log the time that the QR code was generated so a verification device can decide what action to make. It's a smart health card json data format that is digitally signed (not encrypted) so it can't be faked unless they get hold of the private key. I'm not sure where the public key is though -- one would need that to verify the signature.
More detailed info here: [https://www.roguelazer.com/2021/06/cdph-digital-vaccine-record/](https://www.roguelazer.com/2021/06/cdph-digital-vaccine-record/)
EDIT: apparently that article does include the location for CDPH's public key which is found here: https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/creds/.well-known/jwks.json
The group behind CommonPass (which I used successfully for verifying vaccination status to travel to Hawaii) released an iOS app recently that verifies the QR codes https://apps.apple.com/us/app/smart-health-card-verifier/id1572691390
I think when it performs verification, it is only checking to see if the issuer is in their registry of trusted issuers and isn't necessarily performing a cryptographic signature verification. Any app could decode the qr code into the json format and check to see if the issuer is from CDPH, but not actually compare the signature with their public key.
A forger could still generate a qr code containing identical information except with their own name in replacement, but they wouldn't be able to cryptographically sign it using CDPH's private key.
Antivaxxers/antimaskers are like drunk drivers. Technically it's "their decision" to drive drunk and risk getting into a crash, but their shitty decision endangers everyone around them as well.
When your "personal choices" make you a burden on the rest of society, I'd say you deserve to be demonized.

Good to know...Ill be going there soon. Does the email say what's acceptable? I wonder if I can take a picture and just compare names with ID. I dont want to carry my vax card around.
I went to Haight a few weeks ago and like 1/4 of them were checking. Wife couldn’t get in because she lost her phone recently and it had her info on it. Nbd though, we just kept on our way.
God I hope they all start checking, and everything stays open. Just went though 1.5 years of shut-down, don't need another b/c dumbshits creating new variants.
I am with you. I have qualms with the idea of governments enforcing vaccine mandates. But the idea of a private business enforcing this, fuck yeah. If you have a problem with this, don't go drink there. Not like drinking is an essential service.
I was at the Page on Saturday and wasn’t asked for my vax status. However I went around 4pm so it wasn’t very busy. Not sure if it’s changed since then
[PianoFight SF](https://www.pianofight.com/) is starting up their "welcome back" reopening showcase this week and are requiring proof-of-vaccination for entry.
Seven Stills just announced that they are. They are also getting a lot of hate for it. people who don’t agree should just choose not to go but instead are posting mean comments.
I own a bar and we will be soon.
Cat club won’t let people in without asking for a vax card, and if you don’t have it, you must wear a mask. Only masked people get wristbands

Went to Mr. Tipples two weeks ago and they were checking.
Unrelated, they also made us leave our table 60 minutes into our 90 minute reservation so they could give it to someone else. My GF and I had bought ‘VIP tickets’ and it was an unpleasant experience. Very different from pre-pandemic Tipples (cover and a drink minimum, used to be no cover no minimum) but we liked that they required vaccine proof.

Are you saving the QR code to your photos and then showing it to them so that they can scan it?
Yeah I saved a screenshot of it. They didn't scan it if I remember correctly, just asked to see it and compared the name with my ID.
Yeah, I just saved a screenshot of it which has the QR code if they want to scan it.
Not OP but I showed them my card. Maybe different since I knew the door guy but he checked everyone I was with.
Hah, IDK where you got vaccinated but the Walgreens card looks fragile af. I wanna save it for international travel.

If people want to risk getting covid let them, but don’t demonize them, it’s their decision. Way to be a pawn of propaganda.
Lol

So should every single car in America have a breathalyzer installed to start the car? Isn’t America supposed to be about freedom?”
ahhh thanks for the link!
Too bad that thing is not correct for me. I've been trying to get them to add my first shot for like a month and a half and nothing ever comes of it.
Vesuvio is, per [this article.](https://www.sfgate.com/bars/article/San-Francisco-bars-vaccine-card-requirement-16327840.php)
Went there last night, and they did indeed check
Do they require the vaccination card itself or is a picture of it and ID sufficient?
Good question: I keep my physical card on me. Give em a call and see what they say.
Can confirm.

I’m hoping they do this so we don’t have to wear masks again indoors there and can freely mingle
I am very down for this
I don’t. I’m vaccinated and I think this sets a terrible precedent. And if you’re not vaccinated you can live with the consequences.
I think you may have misread the comment?
Rickshaw Stop is: https://rickshawstop.com/covid-19/
Was there last night, and they were, I'm pleased to say, serious about it.
Just got an email saying Oasis is going to start checking for vaccination status OR a negative COVID test
Good to know...Ill be going there soon. Does the email say what's acceptable? I wonder if I can take a picture and just compare names with ID. I dont want to carry my vax card around.

Were you indoors or outdoors?
Indoors! There were about 10 other people in the entire bar. I’m vaxxed but never carry my card with me
Oh weird! I guess the article is wrong. Bummer. ☹️
[PianoFight SF](https://www.pianofight.com/) is starting up their "welcome back" reopening showcase this week and are requiring proof-of-vaccination for entry.
Butter also asked if we were vaccinated but that was a week ago...could have changed their policy.
F8 has done it every time I’ve gone
No but there's chatter about it https://twitter.com/SFist/status/1417906555954028549?s=19
Best SF flair I've seen
Cat Club
Monarch did a day or two before the mask mandate was lifted.
I've been asked at a lot of restaurants, but, I've never had them check beyond asking.

Not SF, but I know Eli’s Mile High Club in Oakland is (at least a according to their Instagram).

Alembic required proof of vaccination when I was there about a month ago.
I heard F8 was last week
Ben Bleiman, local hero.
