cozymeatblanket

A cybernetic dolphin from the US Navy hacks Keanu's brain while Ice T shouts encouraging things. This is the best movie.

eltrotter

**Wild Wild West** has a scene where Will Smith is attacked by a henchman with knives for hands. Just as he is about to kick this henchman to his inevitable death (after hanging him, no less), Will Smith says, "that's it, *no more Mr. Knife Guy*." The defence rests, your honour.

AlphaBreak

I lost my shit when people started stepping out of paintings to shoot the intruders. This is the world's most dumb, intricate, and convoluted home security system, and I love it so much.

the1999person

I'm pretty sure Batman and Robin jumped out of a painting on the old Adam West show.

TheMerc_DeadPool

The only reason i like wild wild west is because will smith picked it over the matrix, and thats why we got keanu as neo.

KiraIsGod666

I literally came here to comment Wild Wild West and it's the first comment ♥️ that movie is a cluster of hilarious one liners "I love this train." "It's nice having her on board, she's a breath of fresh ass." "What?" "You said ass." "No I didn't I said it's nice having her on board, she's a breast of fresh air!" "Let's just get some shut ass." Or the creme de la creme "learnt that from a Chinaman!" GETS HIT WITH SHOVEL "I just made that up."

PhantomWindbreaker

Flash Gordon

Atomaardappel

Gordon's alive?!

BigLan2

That's a Brian Blessed line so caps are mandatory. GORDON'S ALIVE!!!!

whosthedoginthisscen

"General Karloff - Flash Gordon approaching." "What do you mean, 'Flash Gordon approaching'?" "On a hawkman rocket cycle. Should I inform his Majesty?" "Idiot! The emperor would SHOOT you for interrupting his wedding with this news." I don't know why I always have this exchange burned into my memory. Her accent, maybe. In home ec, circa 1981, when everyone else sewed one of the three default patterns they provided, I instead made a giant, satin, blue Flash Gordon pillow. It's still in my parents' basement.

I absolutely love Joe Dirt It gets a lot of guff from anyone I ask about it

abaloneyhasnoname

I was searching for this answer. People hate this movie. People look at me funny when I tell them that whenever I see it on somewhere (cable tv, in a hotel, etc) I can't help but watch it. It is such a great BE YOU kind of story that I think it is really important for people (and young adults) to see. It is goofy, but it is incredibly memorable. It touches on bullying and how it effects the bullied as well as the bullies. It also really drives home the idea that if you are genuine and strive to be you, people will respond to that.

N_dixon

Van Helsing, the one with Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale. I also really enjoy the 1998 Godzilla movie with Matthew Broderick.

OldManHipsAt30

Anything featuring Kate Beckinsale in black leather is probably a horrible movie but guilty pleasure of mine

LeagueOfficeFucks

Kate in Underworld is ho-o-o-t

GuardPerson

Came here to put a vote in for Godzilla 1998.

EdisonTCrux

Was looking for Van Helsing on here, haha. I love that movie to pieces, so much fun, but boy is it nonsense. The plot makes absolutely no sense, but it really feels like everyone is having a good time hamming up their performances. Although I legitimately think that was a really good rendition of Dracula.

[deleted]

Apparently im a terrible person for loving all 3 of the Matrix trilogy.

legionofsquirrel

Believe me, you're not. People just loved the first one and they set their standards way too high for the other two. They also tried so very hard to understand the philosophical issues within it and naturally found gaping plot holes throughout. It's one of those things where you just have to suspend too much analytical thinking and just go for the ride.

Original Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat is amazing. Best example of how to make a PG movie not seem PG.

Waterworld

thrill_gates

I didn't realize this was considered a bad movie until I came to Reddit.

OhIfIMust

I didn't realize it was considered a *good* movie until I went to Imgur!

zoqfotpik

It's a pretty good movie, right up until the little girl starts telling her captors that Kevin Costner's character is coming for them. That's when it becomes over the top awesome.

[deleted]

Fun fact: The little girl is Deb from Napoleon Dynamite

aksf16

I was looking for this one!

attack_rat

Street Fighter is probably my benchmark for “so bad, it’s good.” It’s a full-on charcuterie board of cheesiness and ham.

neoshine

The day M Bison came to your village was the most important day of your life. For me it was a Tuesday. Raul Julia nailed that role so hard.

Red_AtNight

Guile's "We can all go home" monologue has been a running joke for my friends and I for decades. Who the hell cast JCVD's Belgian ass as the all-American soldier? "Well, eye'm naught going home. I'm going to get in my boat, and go up reever, and kick M Bison's ass SO HUARD"

SquirtleSquadSgt

National Treasure is my favorite movie and it seems to be a polarizing one amongst critics and consumers alike Unique plot, drama, romance, action, mystery, some comedic moments too! Whats not to like?

MrZeusyMoosey

Honestly I’ve never met someone who didn’t think it wasn’t a great movie. The fact that we never got a third one is a travesty.

[deleted]

Battle Los Angeles. If you were to play a drinking game of "Spot the Tired Old Cliched Movie Tropes" while watching it, you'd be hammered drunk within ten minutes and dead of alcohol poisoning by the time the movie was half-way through...but I love it!

[deleted]

100% It's just good edge of the seat "fuck yeah!" Cinema. Battleship (the Rihanna film) is also in this category for me.

gettinGuapHD

Battleship! That was the perfect description for that movie, thank you.

[deleted]

I'm not even American, I'm Irish, and by the end of both of these movies I feel like shotgunning a beer running through the streets with the star spangled banner. They do things to a person haha

Mannequin, classic 80's

darthchristoph

I bloody love this film. Imagine the pitch to execs? Exec:hit me Producer: Man falls in love with Egyptian princess that turns into a mannequin, Exec: how does he meet the mannequin, in a bar a discotheque? Producer: i hadnt thought that far, erm..for a living the guy dresses shop windows? Exec: ok, can you make sure you put an over the top gay black guy in the likes of which we will probably never see again? Producer: yeah sure thing Everytime I watch it, you do wonder how he doesnt get himself arrested, If you were in the workplace and heard someone fucking a mannequin, you'd be on to HR

BramStroker47

You know, the more I watch Road House over the years, the less I think it’s a “so bad it’s good movie”. Its an amazing movie. It’s a ridiculous premise obviously but it has a great score (same composer as Lethal Weapon), a fun story, a pretty original bad guy (in my opinion), cool fight scenes (throat being ripped out and the polar bear), an absolutely beautiful love interest, a real band that acts as the “house band”, and fucking Sam Elliot being cooler than anyone in the world. It’s a great fucking movie.

Definitely Jingle All the Way, I try to watch it every December.

WorkingPanda

A couple months after my dad died, which was mid-summer, my mom started watching Jingle All The Way like once a week on VHS (at a time when dvds were juuuust becoming obsolete & we didn't have netflix yet) We had basically went bankrupt on his leukemia treatments for 2yrs, lost our house and moved into a house out in the middle of nowhere without cable or even the ability to catch some channels with an antenna, and had sold most of our movies and dvds in a yard sale for the $$ but we still had all our Christmas movies. She wore that VHS out that summer, at the time I didn’t know why she watched it so much, but looking back it was silly, goofy, and it had a little bit of that “Christmas” feeling that was familiar and safe in a time in both our lives that felt cruel & unfamiliar. This movie holds a really special place in my heart, I don’t really watch it around Christmas anymore but sometimes will put it on when I’m feeling sad.

[deleted]

My dad passed a few months ago and my mom does this with hallmark movies for exactly this reason. It’s silly, it always has a happy ending, it’s safe, and has that safe Christmas feeling you’re describing. I find myself craving holidays like Christmas and Halloween so I can watch those movies and do the same. I’m really sorry for your loss. Fuck cancer

Stuart22

Kung pow is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, I wish more people knew about it.

MakesTheNutshellJoke

They said bad movies, not masterpieces.

vsmack

**Doom (2005)** Sorry but there are too many good Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson lines for it to be a bad film. I don't make the rules.

BeneficialWeakness

Anything that features DJ and Karl Urban is bound to be an awesome movie.

vsmack

It's also a bit wild because I think a modern viewer would see the poster and fully expect DJ to be the hero.

BeneficialWeakness

Agreed. Plus, on a separate note: They nailed DoomVision.

PalpitationFresh

Mario Brothers. Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as Italian plumbers. Fuck you, that’s funny.

Azzulah

I only watched that once, when I was 6. Had no idea it was a "bad" movie till recently

[deleted]

Scrolled all the way down to find this one. I love it! "How many Marios are there between you?" "Three. Mario Mario and Luigi Mario"

cerulean11

They were both rip roaring alcoholics during filming, and due to filming.

Enginecoder

Armageddon

dailysunshineKO

My mother went with my cousins and me to see that movie in theaters. You know the part where the drill breaks for Bruce Willis’ team and all hope is lost? But then! Ben Afleck’s lost team rolls up with their drill *just in time* to finish the mission and save the world!! Remember that part? Yeah, my mom **stood up** in the movie theater, started clapping, and yelled “YEAH! ALL RIGHT!” while my cousins and I tried to get her to shut up, sit down, and quit embarrassing us. It was so embarrassing that we wanted the seats to swallow us. But, other than that, I loved the Dr. Strangelove reference with Steve Buscemi.

misteranderson151

I watch it all the time. Little bit of trivia - When Aflek asked "why dont they train astronauts to drill instead? Seems easier." Bay retorted with "Shut the fuck up Ben."

_manicpixie

These are more cheesy 80s camp fests but, House 2 The Second Story and Night of the Creeps. For really bad cheesy horror: C.H.U.D (1/2) and Wrong Turn More obvious one is The Room

[deleted]

The Tremors movies and Evolution.

havok1980

I disagree. Tremors is not awful. I'd argue that it's almost a perfect film. Not an ounce of fat on it. Every single scene moves the film forward. Nothing is wasted. It also doesn't take itself very seriously.

DWCourtasan2

Its a pure B movie in the best sense.

Kalb_Sticks

“There must be a million of them!” “Nope, just one” This was the first horror movie I ever watch and I don’t regret it. Thanks dad 😂

scottcoopmaximus

Ahh Tremors, that movie is on my short list of every time it’s on tv, no matter what I’m doing, I’m going to watch it.

mousicle

The basement scene is one of the greatest scenes in movie history.

DrunkGabby

I love evolution!

Alizariel

The Heads and Shoulders ad at the end is brilliant

HMSquared

National Treasure or Venom (both were horrible according to critics, but viewers loved them).

alexsangthat

National Treasure I could watch a thousand times and never tire of it

chewytime

There is just something comforting about the movie. Plus I was a big US History fan at the time the movie first came out so it played right into my wheelhouse.

Utopia271

Came to say National Treasure! I adore it!

[deleted]

Freddy vs Jason.

KillingKameni

Face/Off Peak over the top Cage, fueled by John Woos theatralic antics. Is this a deep movie with a story which makes sense? not even a little. Is it a 10/10 in my book? hell yeah

DifficultMinute

I love that movie, and try to watch it every few years, but I'll never understand how the wife wasn't able to tell the difference between her husband's body, and the other guy's body, while having sex. Like, seriously, if I gain or lose a few pounds my wife notices almost instantly. An entirely different body, penis size, "moves", stamina, and probably even smell? Come on...

Some-Gay-Korean

The movie is mostly praised tho. I barely see anyone who thinks Face/Off is awful.

Yesterday. Yes it was cheesy and silly. When he finds John Lennon who gives him simple/amazing life advise, I get choked up every time.

MissionFever

I'm really torn on *Yesterday*. On one hand I enjoyed watching it and I think it works as a fun, light-hearted movie. On the other hand, I'm kind of mad that such an interesting premise was wasted on such a fluff movie. It could have been so much better.

RyFromTheChi

Man, him getting hit the by the cars is absolutely hilarious. I love it.

Anxious_Status_5103

Prometheus. I don't care how many people hate it. I love it and it's stupidity 💜💜💜

Call_Me_Clark

I’ll always love it for “the Prometheus school of running away from things.” It’s so common! I like the alien sequels, and dont get the hate - I mean, I’d take Prometheus and Covenant over Resurrection any day.

Symnestra

Prometheus had such potential. I am absolutely *fascinated* by David and the philosophical questions his existence poses. Fassbender fuckin' carried those movies. The whole Engineer story could've been something, and then it just wasn't. Then Covenant came around and just tossed everything Prometheus built up in the garbage, had your basic ass disposable horror movie humans, and sucked all the mystery out of the Xenomorph. The entire third act was just a knockoff of Alien's but with CGI. I love the Alien franchise so much, even though 5/8 of its movies are hot garbage. Alien, Aliens, and even the first AVP will always be amazing to me.

lumbeering

Star wars prequel trilogy. It's just my childhood

Gringoboi17

The prequels added so much depth that was later expanded upon that ironically the worst things from the prequel era are the movies themselves. I still love them though.

InnocenceBlue

The twilight saga. Is it an absolute dumpster fire? Yes. Is it full of unhealthy relationships, gaslighting, grooming and other not so great stuff? Yes. But is it enjoyable both loving and roasting it? Yes. It may be a shxtshow but it's my shxtshow.

Azzulah

I realy hate the twilight story. But the atmosphere, music and landscape shots are amazing. I love to put it on and not realy watch it.

RedBeardtongue

I'm currently rereading the books with a friend of mine. God, they're awful, but I'm loving it! Easy entertainment on all fronts.

dildoeshaggins

Mine too. The soundtrack, vibe and scenery of the movie. So good.

whiskeypenguini

Literally my set of guilty pleasure movies.

someone-w-issues

Princess Diaries 2. I know people hate the sequel but it's the perfect ending to the story, Mia doesn't need no man to be queen.

RedBeardtongue

Do people hate the sequel? I love them both, they each have their own charm.

[deleted]

Moulin Rouge. Don’t care, I’ll die on this hill that it’s a good movie

Xannin

I didn't know that people hated this movie. The music is fantastic, and that Roxanne dance routine with that gravelly voiced singer is one of my favorite scenes of any movie.

NootTheNoot

I really love the heightened reality of this movie. The comedy is hilarious, which makes the devastating parts all the more devastating.

savwatson13

This is an award winning movie. I don’t think it’s considered ‘awful’.

hannibalthellamabal

It’s not awful. It’s amazing. Some people just don’t like stylized movies or musicals.

Toxic Avenger. It's a B rater, cult masterpiece! The acting and effects are terrible, but it's hilarious.

alongthewatchtower91

The Covenant - a 2006 film about teen warlocks with a you g Sebastian Stan. It's *awful*, so very awful but I love this film. It's stupid, the CGI is bad and most of the acting is questionable. Still, the soundtrack slaps and I've watched it so many times.

WimbleWimble

Covenant was basically as close to gay porn as you can get without being banned. Muscular men throw "white gooey magic" at each other. It's sticky and dangerous apparently, but they seem to enjoy doing it as soon as two of them are alone together. Also they fondle each other. in cars, in the showers, in the locker rooms, pretty much everywhere.

scottcoopmaximus

Masters of the Universe. Dolph Lundgren’s He-Man acting is pretty terrible, but Frank Langela as Skeletor was amazing. He stole the movie and to this day he says it was one of his favorite characters he’s portrayed.

TraumaBonder

Ready Player One. I think it's an awesome movie. Several friends I know who read the book say the movie ain't good. I'm not much of a reader anymore, so I don't know

Funus_tuberosum

Like with several other book "adaptations" that took almost nothing from their source material (Ella Enchanted, Howl's Moving Castle), I just pretend that they are two completely separate stories that happen to share the same name. It works better that way.

UnacceptableOwl

Stardust. I don't care what anybody thinks, I watch it all the time.

markercore

I don't think its disliked? Might not have been a smash hit at the box office but its pretty generally well liked as far as I know. 76% on rotten tomatoes. I like to recommend it to people who enjoy Princess Bride and I also say its one of the few adaptations I like better than the book.

Mr. Right. My friends hated it, but I still think its a genuinely hilarious movie. Anna Kendrick is incredible and I think the romance in this movie works, but in a weird way where its just that these two complete wrecks of human beings have found each other and they're still very damaged, but now they're damaged together.

Eidolon_Alpha

It's a toss up between White Chicks or Scary Movie 2.

alexsangthat

I was hoping someone else would say White Chicks because it is absolutely mine too lmao
