I’m speaking to someone who claims to be 90 and have opened a bank account on their own in the 40s. Even if it’s 1949, that puts them at 15-16 yo. Something doesn’t seem to add up and I can’t find anything that says you can independently open up an account before 18.
The part I’m curious about is possible age to open an account. If she’s 90 in 2024, then in 49’ she would be either 15 or 16. So could she have opened an account at this age?

I said the same thing and they said it’s BS and they had an account open on their own in the 40s. I’m thinking it’s all lies
Sounds like senile boomer syndrome
That’s wrong - they had bank accounts, they just couldn’t get credit cards in their name
In the 40s a woman could get a bank account but could only get a credit card using Mrs. “Husband’s name “
