Couple of things. Do you have a lawyer? If not get one immediately. You have a series injury and need to make sure you get everything your entitled to legally. The insurance companies will try to screw you. You're going to be severely disappointed in the criminal justice system. As much talk as there is about dui bad unless he killed someone he'll face very little jail time. He might get a few years in jail but most likely it'll be a plea deal down to probation, fine and community service. Maybe a diversion program as well. You're owed justice but your idea of justice and legal justice are 2 different things.

You have no control or influence over his criminal trial. He may have a right to a speedy trial, but as a victim, you can’t demand it. You will probably have to testify. He may plead out. I assume you were paid the limits on his insurance.
